You can create a project with third person template and export the mannequin
I use a blender plugin called MrMannequin, it works good for me
I had nothing but issues trying to import the default skel from ue4 into blender
I have no issues doing it, I just have a bad time setting up IK on it
yeah with MrMannequin, the rig is fully set up and ready to animate. just gotta parent your new mesh to it, and it has an export thing for anims and mesh

Yeah, theres a certain way to parent it to the skeleton, I forget how. But once its attached properly the tools will allow you to export the mesh by itself, and/or the animations
I just tried parent with auto weights and it looks terrible lol, can't see an option in MrMannequin sidebar to parent mesh to skeleton
yeah I had to manually paint the mesh, but I also was doing a robot so it moves different

I don't like mixamo rigs because I can never add IK without the mesh going wonky

Go to where the skeletal mesh is in UE, right click (purple border), then Asset options or something like that and Export

Yeah it's good to get used to the colors and what they mean, blue is skeleton, purple is Skeletal mesh, and tanish orangey is physics and green is animations just so you can tell without clicking them, it's a good habbit

wellll i have another problem im sorry if im having too many problems but what does the error "loop in parents" mean in blender? i tried to merge two parts of the body and it's telling me loop in parents
sounds like both parts are already attached to the skeleton? so maybe it cant figure that out. I always do all merging and any editing before I attach to the skeleton
i was going to attach my skeleton but then i realized my whole character is separated and that's when i decided to parent them and that didn't work

what prolly happend, u had a loop selected.. u duplicated, dragged it.. didnt like it , undo , now u have a loop over ur old verts you cant see and u shift D again

Blender to Unreal then livelink to substance painter. I usually make the low and high poly in blender then send the low poly to UE and once in UE, I go to the livelink for substance and import the high poly. Thank you
I heard it was really good but I've never used it, seen plenty of videos on it though, looks nice, but blender is nice for baking normals
I am not using blender for baking normals, I think it is just a bit cumbersome for me. But I use the substance painter baking. I think the good thing with marmoset is there real time baking option where in you could really tweak it and seeing the cage etc in realtime

There is some truth to it, especially if the skilled based MM is poorly implemented.
SMM can make the game a lot more fun but it can also ruin it by matching you against players that are it the same rank/mmr but should actually be way above you, that's where most SMM fail
isn't really as simple as skilled based = good
that seems like a problem that would sort itself out over time, people who are better than their rank would get ranked higher if they keep playing well
most of the time it doesn't work like that, especially if there is a sudden influx of new players, you get pushed up and end up in higher ranks than you should be in
There are a ton of situations where smm can completely break and ruin the experience

also a bad side of smm are insanely long MM times, in rocket league when you get up to C3/GC you can end up waiting up to 20 minutes to find a single match

8k anything: what a dumb fucking idea
There's something to say for greater pixel density for a given display size for rendering text but you're already blowing past that point with 4k displays. I guess if someone decided to interpret 8k as some kind of super ultrawide resolution... maybe.

You can just compute it.
I wouldn't say "just". You do have to decide on the pixel density for a given distance. There's not an exact value for that because of how vision works. You'd have to do trials and statistics to find the lowest value you could generally get away with... and then you could calculate it from there.
That's not so damn complex. There is a 'standard' vision, you go from there. If you want to be so precise then you are in much deeper problems. Like you might wanna switch displays evening and morning? Or each other two years? No, no sense. Ofc, it depends on everybody to decide. You have a good 'common' solution tho. Go a bit over it and you are done. At least wrt to density and whatever. Go upgrade your fps, contrast, speed and etc of your monitor instead.

I wasn't saying that as just some random individual. Someone can pick whatever they want. But from a display industry standpoint, there's not some constant value for it; you would need to either determine one or arbitrarily choose one.
I would argue that from industry point there is always some kind if 'uniformity' they target at. Ofc, they will say 4k is good, but 8k is better. They will be right too also. But in what case? It is the right case say if your have big display and you are 1.5 meter away from it. Then they may say 16k! Still they will be right, but it is all about that "moving" average case they present it about (usually not mentioned).
I'm full up for ppl to take decision based on their needs. I think we kinda talk about the same anyway. Jumping the 8k wagon though... There will be people who would falsely believe it is better.

In all seriousness though. It's a very cool language to learn when you do 2d animation. It's only problem was the support for it. The external code tools from Greensock made Adobe look like they never bothered doing anything after a release.

and yeah ActionScript is a decent enough langugage
it's basically JavaScript with types and more structure which is nice

been using photon replication a lot and it doesnt care what level your character is on (unlike ue4 networking) and i wonder if we used a persistent level in the game , and every level was a streamed in level if couldn't manage to have a replication similar to photon's (but using ue4's built in networking)
in theory, there should be nothing that would prevent that from not working right... the dedicated server would live in the persistent level and would know of every player and put him in streamed in levels as needed

I wanted to like Fallout 4 and I don't dislike it, I'm neutral, I like the world, I like collecting weapons and gear, but the player movement just feels like a quick prototype you'd make in Unity after an hour
I played fo3 a lot but then it went down for the other games, they didnt catch the spirit. saddly. like I bought FO2 on sale last year and instant dumped 18 hours in it and I played that game like 20 times before.
I have FO1 tactics and 2 but haven't played them yet
But those older ones were done by different people and they wanted to modernize 3 which I don't think is a bad thing
yeah that whole shooting and character controller did not get much time. lol
If they just focused on making a solid game and used like UE4 then I think it could be amazing, but I think they focus too much on tech and not enough on game and polish
I have to agree, they stuck to their engine for too long. They should have changed it.thats what a lot of game journos in my area complained about.
Well taking an IP and changing it entirely will definitely be very very difficult to keep the same feel

the feeling and overall atmosphere is different
I liked the atmosphere in 3
It felt brighter in 4 though
less creepy
more comfortable which post apocalyptic theme shouldn't feel like lol
though fallouts were post post apocalyptic ๐
if you listen to a gdc talk on FO1 and 2 they said people came at the weekends to work on the game. thats the spirit.

That was the industry in the 90's though, most games were passion projects
Now the passion projects lie in people like us not AAA studios
yeah but if you have the money, you can get the really good people.
Anyone can get really good, but a team full of really good people with no passion has no point
if you compare the 3d fallout games they are all the same with different assets.
Well yes, you take any game in the same series that is by the same dev and you will get the same thing
so you know they put the money in 3d artists instead in writers, concepts etc.
I think they put more money into concept artists and writeres and programmers more than VFX and 3D artists lol
They don't look pretty that's for sure

I was thinking first the games pass will ruin us Indies because how do you compete with 10 bucks for 100 AAA games. but then If you only pay 10 bucks there is a lot of money over to spend on indies.

If you need people working more than 40 hours a week on your game, you have some combination of incompetence and unrealistic scheduling.
