with the whole "limited offers" thing tho - there's some interesting stuff about people selling things like online courses and such, where the course is open only for a limited time
so that's a marketing technique to get people to buy it
but the interesting thing is that once the offer is gone... they get emails from people asking if they could buy it now even though it's closed
so in that sense you do need to sometimes use those types of methods to make people actually commit into buying something because otherwise they'll just idle and not do it :D

one great thing is sites that let you know when there's a deal, in wishlists. so that way you can be sure to buy the item. when i get a notification for steam games i like i make sure to add them to my library in this way.

I was researching for easter eggs in the series, and found this quote from Juan Pancho 'XceptOne' Eekels on the map Eye of Jahan for Unreal Championship on the original XBox :
"It's all about putting the fun in the game. It's a symbol. And it's supposed to be a goat actually. If you listen carefully, you can hear him scream."
We know of two easter eggs for this game, this one and the hidden cow in Flux2. However, there are no footage or image of that said goat. Does anyone here know something about this ?

I bought a PC when I first started doing game design back in 2009. It had an i7 920, the very first generation of i7 and some random ATI graphics card I can't remember.
That PC lasted in that configuration until 2015 when Fallout 4 was released and I finally had to upgrade the graphics card. So I upped my RAM from 6gb to 12gb (the max my Motherboard supported) and threw a GTX 750ti into the machine.
That machine was able to play Assassin's Creed Origins at PlayStation framerates in 2017.
Though by that time the stuff I was doing in Unreal, primarily the massive amount of trees and grass I put in my scenes, was becoming too much for that 9 year old PC.

I would say focus on making a very small RPG. If that goes well, make a sort of small RPG. If that goes well make a smallish medium RPG.
If you have success at those levels, then you can start using the money you earned or leverage the playerbase you have with a Kickstarter or something to start hiring a team.

The chances of succeeding in this industry are always going to be slim, so don't get the wrong idea from my words. But I think it makes a lot more sense than hoping that someday you will win the lottery and be able to hire a staff of 100 people to make your dream game.
