I like the zone idea i came up with, but hand crafting this games map would be a LOT of work
but it is tempting to go for much larger procedural gen maps and hope for large party gameplay draw
current plan is built around teams of 4
the basic gameplay is standard zombie survival
but its also tempting to go with a much older game idea we had
called "cavae" (cavern/cave/hollow in latin)
the hard part would be how to get the lighting and mutation mechanics to work
so the games lore is that your ship managed to somehow exit FTL inside a small artificial planetoid
roughly 64km in diameter
which means the technical surface area is pretty much infinite for 1-6 players
your ship crashes into a chunk of the sphere, totally pretty much everything.
your goal is to find a way to the central "star" of the sphere
a dimly glowing sphere thats clearly a reactor of sorts
as you explore you can find ways to change the orb, and based on color and brightness, you can change the behavior of animals around you
once you get to the center you can take control of the place and chose to stay and keep surviving, or stealing some of the reactor material and fueling up your ships subspace transmitter to get rescued
stealing the core material will radically change the cores output and cause EVERYTHING to be super hostile
