For live streaming games, you can use Streamlabs OBS (my choice) or just OBS. Streamlabs streamlines a few things.

Other than that, once you have the requirements of your streaming platform nailed down, you're good to go.

On Twitch, you can keep your bitrate between 5,000 and 5,800. The allowed max is 6,000. YouTube has different limits. Etc. Etc.

In terms of software, it's more about getting the proper themes and layouts for your stream's UI, in case you want to put on a show, engage your audience, etc. etc.

If you aren't using a webcam, that makes your UI arrangements a lot easier.

You can put an alert box to let everyone (and yourself) know about subscribers, donators, pledgers, super chat shouts, etc.

If you like, use a chat widget to let everyone see what everyone else is talking about live on stream. It's not necessary on Twitch, but mobile phone users appreciate it regardless.

Apart from all that, yeah, you're set.

Oh yeah, one last thing. If you're going to be playing any high-motion games, you'll have to fiddle with your codec settings to ensure that motion blur and ghosting artefacts are reduced as much as possible in the stream.

For any other game, nothing else is needed.

Ok. Install it. There're two filters you can use for your microphone and your speakers, each.

Also, make sure that your speakers aren't using Loudness Equalisation - audio enhancement when you are live streaming.

That causes weird ambient sounds and hissing to be recorded in the video - nothing to do with the mic, apparently.

The muffler helps. In Streamlabs, the noise filter has to be added to your microphone channel. With high CPU quality, it does a great job at silencing worthless sounds... such as breathing.
