they have a WeakPtr class which enforces that you invalidate the weakptrs (during destruction) on the same thread as the weakptr factory (owned by the object that is weak pointed to) was created on. The Peer connection object is explicitly owned by the "signaling" thread. However, during initialization, they invoke onto the networking thread and then from there grab the weakptr in a lambda closure for a network event handler. This means the peer connection's weakptrs are now owned by the network thread. String theory treats a single object's path through time as a "string".

So moving through time isn't free movement, you'd be moving the universe back and forward, each particle on its own string. To move freely outside of the string would be in a higher dimension.
