The builds take a stupidly long time, probably due to WSL2 sucking
So it feels like undefined behavior
And Valgrind saying its uninitialized actually feels like what I'm seeing

wouldnt be terribly surprising if its common with the particular executable im making for this particular spot on the stack to be filled with a low integer pointer value

Oh- yeah I haven't tried that. It takes about 8 minutes to compile just the object files for the binding on an Intel Core i9 12900K in WSL2
So the dev cycle hasnt made that an appealing direction to go down
There's about 20 or so moderately sized C++ files in this project to compile. Linking is rough because libwebrtc is massive. That is about 4000 object files to compile, takes about 20 minutes on CircleCI, and about an hour in WSL2

so as far as I know, the only way that new can fail in this form is by throwing an exception, and I would suspect that throwing an exception when they are disabled is tantamount to an abort
the only failure I've seen anyone talk about would be memory allocation failure. But that's incredibly unlikely when it is happening identically in CI and locally with 64GB of ram
there is another form of new that is allowed to return null, but it should never return a bogus pointer, and that form isn't used here anyway
no I'm doing something dumb, and it feels like it has to be the configuration and build of either libwebrtc or the binding code. Also, I never edited this particular file, it's identical to what it is in the base library (though libwebrtc is upgraded)

GDB is nightmare fuel comparatively. And I have spent a fair amount of time with GDB over my years --- even still had muscle memory for a fair amount of the commands
I wish VS' GDB frontend support was a bit better though

i dunno i been really happy these last few years, music is just getting better and better
the hip hop scene is poppin off, we past the era of mumble rap and the generic radio crap of the early 2010s
getting some actual interesting stuff
metal is having a slight revival, especially if youre into power metal/metalcore
even regular metal though
electronic scenes are doing cool stuff and established genres are getting some fresh looks
phonk is just a thing now
super sick stuff.
