in what way
it has always been centered around 1936 start date and early years of ww2, with althist formables being thrown in
you know, like the gradually larger focus trees and the very late game special projects for example
i mean in the thematic sense
of course yes, that is the core of the game either way
those things help to go more in depth to the time period and conflict itself
but it has never gone from being a ww2 game to being a 20th century game
even just having a short post war tree would be satisfactory
and ultimately the game's systems were designed around the warfare and fighting
any actual management, economic, and diplomatic aspects are heavily stunted in comparison to other civilization / grand strategy games
i find it difficult to imagine any sort of interesting post war content without a redoing of the fundamental aspects of the game itself
not to mention theres the issue of even if you do a historical game chances are the peace treaties and borders wont be historical anyways because of the ai
proxy conflicts, those tend to happen in historical games anyways ,for example the various colonies that break away post war
i do wish hoi4 would add a scripted peace deal feture for historical
pretty much this. And even then, it's not exactly the best. My life for the ability to use Command Power to control divisions belonging to your allies, or at least sharing of allied battle plans.
the number of times I have been surprised by Britain attempting DDay two years early and only got informed because the speech played is honestly ridiculous
Like what?
we need uuuh work on wiki
<@&846894118219022336>
how could spy tf2 do this
Update reveal tonight?
Why don't they publish it on the steam page? Wouldn't it be more practical for everyone?

Linux lol
How many beeps was it?
Are you also a Gentoo user?
Yeah check twitter
Short and long beeps
Morse code?
They do
Teaser before also showed a japanese building and japanese naval department so 100% japan
Would a balance of power work for the army and navy rivalry
The bird is a Green Pheasant, Japan’s National Bird, a dead giveaway
Probably one of the most associated animals with japan
Tricky one
And the people with the mountain
Samurai could be anyone
The samurai may be a reference to a propaganda poster
although even then it still is japanense so that much is certain
But motif is japanese stock exchange
Industry teaser for japan
The other emblem is Japan warfare division for land assults
The pheasant could be something about the royal family maybe?
I think we all can agree that what’s coming up next has something to do with Japan
Sameri is just straight up japan royalty before the capitalism era
What was term back then
For the era
Shogun?
Shogunate?
I cant remember
There’s the Shogunate and the Sengoku Jidai
The shogunate was the government for the most part, though japan was quite fractured for the most part
Although a chunk of the Generals do have Samurai lineage. But the samurai from the poster and the focus icon are referring to Pearl Harbor
Sometimes it was semi united
The mountains probably are mountain division unlock or some shit
Mt fuji divisions
Thats a bit schizo
A royal tree would make so much sense in a Update with Japan
They got longest living royalty of any still around
The current one with the kodoha dont really make sense as the kodoha were pretty fascist
No but the samurai returning is like knights returning
True as there was more than just the Tokugawa
I mean if we were talking about fuedalism returning to Japan
Best way to do that
Would be historically the Sameri
But then that also would come off schizo
In the same way as putting a bear as king in Poland
Too unrealistic
Or resurrecting the HRE
Deindustrialising
Deindustrialization isn’t needed
Whats different was these were easter eggs
So before you say "unrealistic"
Hre and wojtek
Is that from Twitter?
They wont normally happen in a normal game unless you go out of the way to do these
Nope YouTube
I love this and the polar bear because people can’t be complaining it’s unrealistic when these exist
Id assume sameri would be the same as this
Not something youd just get easily
By pushing left on tree
It would be requirements needed to be met
Didn’t they say they are moving towards more realistic paths?
Like the eic already is very stupid
Or rather less extreme alt history
Im fine with some little easter eggs
They’ll probably still have 1 path per tree that’s goofy but not the majority
Like India was 80% cheesy
But can we stop saying the game can have unrealistic paths because wojtek can become king of poland
Empire of china or smthn
Amelia Earhart is also a EE you can do
But people forget that
And hitler in argentina
😂
"unrealistic" - 2 updates ago
Lol
Amelia Earhart is kinda believable. Like if she wasn’t lost was possible
Hitler as leader of argentina is fully meme though
Played it once for the achievement
Even then I’ve never seen the Easter eggs in historical barring any glitches or mod tomfoolery
Did you play once it got focuses?
except for the coloured icons?
Like specific 4th Reich focuses
Yeah
I have, I think now if you do something ahistorical as a major the others start branching off too
The bear is base game
Its on wiki
Bros mad at color icons
i know that, i have the achievment
2025 and freaking out at rgb
Is the kingdom of Slavic one base game or is it like the general one base
Actually the most recent easter egg was nuclear gandhi which is a lot more hidden and obscure so
True, they do
this has to be ragebait, i literally just took note of a mod that was indeed present
I’m fine with obscure ones tbh
I love the nuclear Gandhi Easter Egg, it’s from the civ series
Wasn’t the nuclear Gandhi thing in civ just a hoax anyways
as far as i know yes
You have to do a “viceroy bodyguard” focus, place a cavalry division in dehli and go independant so yes these types of easter egg meme paths are fine but not something like eic
What a shame 🙁
Theres also a hidden translyvania country tree
It’s real, it’s from a glitch actually, due to Gandhi being the least aggressive leader back in civ 1 and upon him adopting democracy his aggression integer loops back around to being the most aggressive
That is only able to be done with cheats as far as I know
Yeah EIC was nasty. Like they did Anarchism really well imo and it fits the game. But EIC and the elephant path seem gross
Honestly hitler in argentina is too easy to get that you can definitely get him accidentally without even going for it
What’s funny too is that Mao’s picture is supposed to change once you form the PRC. Like he has a diff pic in files but it never applies
Hardest one gotta be the Byzantine Hitler
I hope they keep the current mao portrait
Ive seen like one video on that
Nuclear Gandhi is a video game urban legend purporting the existence of a software bug in the 1991 strategy video game Civilization that would eventually force the pacifist leader Mahatma Gandhi to become extremely aggressive and make heavy use of nuclear weapons. The claim was mentioned on the TV Tropes wiki in 2012, and continued until 2020, w...
Same it’s a good portrait
The new Chang Kai Shek one is way better though
Im using the r56 portrait for him rn
Requirements for adapted from focus tree on Transylvania:
Romania to give release them,then:
Austria completes the "The Danubian Federation" or "Demand Hungarian Submission" focus.
Hungary completes "The Lands of the Crown of Saint Stephen" or the "A Danubian Federation" focus, while Transylvania is a vassal.
Then tree appears out if thin air
Chances of this happening is near 0.
Is this a new or old tree?
Since romania will not just give out a release of Translyvania
Like GDR or Death or Dishonor
This is a dlc egg.
Which though
The only legit way of this happening though is if you played as soviets, released them after beating romania, and also the historical path didnt happen and the 2 neibors did their required trees
historical accurate idk what you speaking about and it's only possible if you go althis
I cant see a non cheat path of it happening outside of just playing multiplayer ig
Is this new or old? Never heard of it
Tbh all the trees from that dlc were pretty bad
you know what will be peak for Japan? civil war where you can give power to Anime girl
no longer mods need for anime hirohito
last dev corner? so DLC October/November
Tbh I wish they’d just post those on here
Hot take, SSJ4 looks sorta chopped
Kinda big
All i see is the austro hungarian shared tree
So is this the transylvania tree you were talking about?
Yes its hidden
As a player outside of multiplayer or cheating
Its near impossible
To get in a real game
Too niche
Ok
Graveyard of empires can definitely still be fixed though i cant lie especially iran
Its probably the most bland tree out of the four of them
Honestly a free rework of entire middle east be nice
Or a FULL middle east
Including like palastine mandate and yemen and stuff
Paradox and free??
Wasnt that like 2016
Really hope they start doing entire regions rather than like 1/3 of regions
How far can the definition of region stretch though
@hollow coral not just doing mao china and KMT china
Theres like 8 war lord regions and tibet, no trees
Like goe was obviously centred around afghanistan so its logical to add india and iran as they border it and why not add iraq as it was a minor player
Many people were mad with TOA and GOE because they only did a partial region. The devs even admitted on the forum after the backlash to GOE that they’d consider larger DLC’s
Honestly the amount of countries in them are pretty fair
I mean brazil, argentina and chile got pretty stacked trees
Are me getting samurai
They said they’d either do more countries in future countries packs or also include features
Let’s gooooooo
And even uruguay and paraguay got decent amounts of content
I dont think the samurai icons derectly mean samurai are getting added
Only appears after you’ve been nuked and turned democratic
I like it
Samurai were used in japanese propaganda to promote them as warriors to inspire the soldiers
It’s a propaganda movie
Is the three dragon heads a reference to dragon ball???
Gunna guss that the samurai one is about navy bonuses
Anyone know what the top left building is?
Whats funny is searched it up the day the teaser dropped and there were less results then when i searched it up just now
I assume its an inudsutry related focus
Probably some great depression one
Idk
Maybe osaka castle?
Feel like Japan could have 3-4
IMO most countries should have a few, they just buff diff things
Honestly there arent really any notable japanese landmarks other the. Mt fiji
I cant name many off the top of my head
Not that I could name the Austrian and Iranian ones off the top of my head
Yet they made it
I was surprised they didn’t do the White House tbh
The statue of liberty is more culturally significant
That’s why I’m saying they should have a few
But the kremlin instead of the basilica for russia is a missed opportunity
Also I don’t think they can actually shift buffs to other core owners? Like Hagia Sofia doesn’t buff Greece
Yo agreed
Realistically China will have the imperial palace now
The great wall where its just level 10 forts across the border
Most significant landmarks in china are in beijing so the forbidden city would be enough
Only problem is would Manchuria be able to get the buffs from it? As far as I know, landmarks only buff the country that starts with them
Would be so dumb if the forbidden city didn’t buff the Qing
(Just as the Hagia Sofia doesn’t buff Byzantium currently)
Manchukuo is an artificial state so there can be an argument for an against it
Would mean that anyone but KMT wouldn’t get its buff though
Including warlords that unite or even the PRC
Landmarks need to be able to shift to new core owners
I would say that only prc kmt and manchukuo should gets its buffs
Agreed
Here’s a clearer version
i wish with next DLC for US we will get spy rework where you can send spy mission to kill advisors/generals, like historically french and polish underground state were doing a lot successful killing high tier command of III Reich
Imagine that in multiplayer 💀
There would be no advisors left
This dlc looks so peak
Wonder what the name is gunna be
It sounds HoI5 (with commanders and all characters in general located in map)
most MP i played banned spy action anyway so i'm talking mostly about fun sandbox for singleplayer
also we have custom rules before game start what is a problem to add more limitation to some actions
like US was the biggest thing during World War II, Germany got great DLC and now US needs dlc to be even better so from me it should be more Spy, more subject(democratic influence like choosing focus tree paths or what puppet should produce like you could force ur Australian puppet as UK to focus mostly on doing destroyers to escort convoys etc) also Free France and France overall tree are joke and i wish we could borrow some from mods where Free France is peak content gameplay
Goofy ahh rules for mp
But yeah US does need a dlc
Which is most likely after this one
And if not it will be a south east Asia maybe
US doesnt need DLC yeah, because for like 6 years you can use exploit to make US uselles lmao on historical
i hope when hoi5 comes out PDX adds more REAL LIFE units and templates
That’s only a small debuff
Besides if it’s actual mp the player should be fine
having isolation entire game and cant leave great depression is small debuff for u? xD
I mean u can remove in 1936 I think
Besides u can bypass it
The player can do counter intelligence
Get more democracy support
yeah and you just proved my point that US is bad designed country compared to reworked Germany, btw all AXIS MAYORS got rework that is 9/10 and Japan will be another one meanwhile US, UK and France are "xDDD" lvl of content
US as being biggest powerhouse in this game has the least content, less content than freaking Afganistan right now
Chile, Argentina has more COntent than US UK and France/Free France, you cant make this up.
i wonder what the bird and the monkey means
Nah UK and France are alright imo. Better than Germany was and better than the US. But still need a rework like NSB and beyond countries
I want to see more of the faction rework
I know the new dlc is gonna make it hell to fight in China
they are not, half of ur tech tree is blocked behind being democratic lmao you cant get nukes as UK without being in faction with US, same for France most tech uselles because of how bad is tree designed
old opposite adolf was better democratic tree than UK, US and France
monkey division vs bird division
That Sounds awful imo
I wanna be able to Control individuals divisions within highly urbanized tiles
You can get nukes as any of their trees lol
And democratic is probably the weakest
After commie
as UK you cant, you need be democratic with US in Faction to get research speed buffs
You literally just build the special project facilities and can get it
you missed a point where i said that half of research bonuses is locked in your tree just bcs of how bad tree is made, yeah i know you can hard tech and rush nukes as any mayor nation now but the point is that 3 BIG ALIES TREE are terrible compared to new content Germany, Italy, Soviet, Afganistan or even Philipines lmao
“can’t get Nukes as UK without being in a faction with US” Apparently you missed your own point. 💀
Can’t means can not ever.
yeah you cant get research bonuses and 75 breakthrough
Allies probably will be expansion after this expansion pack lets be honest
I could see the US getting some focuses but not a full rework
But France and UK definitely wont be this expansion
i just proved it by blocking AI US from getting nukes, they will never get their research speed and manhantan project thats how bad designed is US tree and AI
Logically the US should get a full rework alongside Japan. With France and UK getting content
But strongly doubt it’ll happen, this is paradox we’re talking about lol
US will probably get like 6 focuses
And some reworks
and people should review bombing harder than they did for Graveyard of Empires if this happen
I think the US should also get a propaganda system similar to USSR. But at the very least coal update will super buff the USA
And that’s why u don’t do it
To have a fun game instead of cheesing that much
you do it because it's painful to do some stupid achievements, it's must have when you play bad country for first time or in South America, i dont do it as Japan because i know how to beat US as Japan in 1940 capitulation
It’s not that hard 😭
I capped them as literal El Salvador in 1940
yeah but i want slow gameplay
Will this new dlc only be 4 nations?
We'll know when they announce it
Japan, KMT, PCC, Mandchoukouo ?
They have confirmed nationalist china, communist china, japan, and Philippines
Warlords and Manchuria will get changes but not focus trees
Philippines ?
Yeahh, always the possibility of a surprise one too like with aussa and iceland
Didn't know that
Yeahh they showed us a lot of the Philippines tree
I will see ty
Mhmm
So many nations that it would be cool to have focus trees for in the regionn
Every nation in china, tibet, mongolia, tuva, siam, indonesia, malaysia, burma, bhutan, nepal, maybe an indochina
Do you know what changes exactly because it feel odd to not give a another focus tree for Puyi :/
So they said Warlords wouldn’t get full new trees but haven’t really talked about Manchuria yet
I’d assume MAN, PRC and KMT are getting full reworks
It's what I think too
And warlords minor changes and they can take the lead of China so no worries
Think it would be cool if each of the warlords varied just a little bit
Like maybe one is good with horses, one good with infantry, tanks etc
Yes of course ahah
Or like one is good with military, one with industry
Will be sad if they’re all identical
They’re probably gonna be identical again
But we can hope that there’s some differences
Xibei San ma tanks only 🔥
I think Sikiang should get some attention too considering that the Soviet Union has a focus on”the gobi gambit” and their tree to become the PRC feels weird
Warlords they said they will edit their current trees to more modernize it and fit the new dlc, i have no idea what they have planned for manchukuo
Mhmm
What if every warlord had a single short unique alternative path that takes them differently than just unite china
Something simple the devs could do in the meantime before they get their own dlc
Sinkiang strategic bombers only ;)
Guangdong economic powerhouse please
I'd assume it'd focus on the Qing and then have a slightly more updated puppet side
they split up sinkiang
not sure how many of the new released nations will get content
USA rework hopefully hopefully
Most probably will happen, however around this time next year
I frankly prefer a china update over usa Update anyways
yeah asking for usa china and japan in one dlc is too much ig
when is china update coming out
Theoretically mid november/December
Like we already are getting five countries and a rework to the Chinese regional tree
what do you guys think about the next devcorner being scheduled to 16 september (tuesday) instead of 11 september
are we gonna get 2 devcorners at that week (tuesday + thursday) and then announcement next week?
or is it just holday in sweden at september 11?
or damn it's basically 9/11 memory day i guess
Sept 4th = Japans Dilemma, Internal Affairs and Militarism, idk i just thought of that.
yea but i meant the 'next' after this one
They change all the titles and dates every week 🫠
"Internal fight" maybe?
That could be it
"Crafting the
strategic player
fantasy"
?
internal fight between the IJN and IJA
No no tanna tuva and Oman dlc
Bahrain dlc when?
finally a Japan game that doesn't get boring after you beat China
idk if they confirmed it but they'll 100% add a balance of power to represent that
Oh I can’t wait to see the new tree
It’s gunna be peak or it’s gunna be revolting idk
idk historically reworked trees have been pretty good iirc
its usually been the trees given to new countries that were problematic
British Raj?
looking at majors especially theyve all been on point since NSB
Mhm
so i have confidence in japan
i think if any of the trees are going to be weak its probably the china ones
germany is very very broken rn
wdym
it was the first country i ever played
it seems fine?
very super mega OP
sure if youre new to the game it isnt that strong but
its incredibly poorly balanced
i mean i think itll correct itself out once all the allies get trees
no
mostly recency bias i think
they just have too many battle stats
and also same production as like the USSR
same mil efficiency
better even because more growth
germany before was like eh the strongest major but it could be countered
rn it is just sooo OP
kinda poor rework in that sense imo
...
but does it have the resources to leverage those stats?
because Germany historically has really bad natural resources
(though I would prefer to see more squabbling between the Nazis. The only more dysfunctional government in WW2 was arguably Japan, and they had actual political assassinations of rivals. Something like Stalin's Paranoia system, only less permanent removal of characters and more applying debuffs to characters)
Vanilla hoi4 doesn’t do a great job displaying it
U can easily make refineries for rubber/oil
Yes
ugh
hopefully the Coal update will do something to fix that
The only real struggle would be not enough oil or chromium I think
Just chromium
I forgot if the Balkan area has good chromium
You can ask for romanian oil
Sweden and yugo iirc
since historically Coal was needed for synthetic fuels/rubber, and Germany has really shitty coal
Doesnt Silesia and Saarland have massive coal deposits?
yes, but it's shitty coal that's full of impurities and doesn't burn cleanly
i still think the actual tree itself is fun
to the point that back when warships were coal-fired in WW1, the High Seas Fleet had a much lower practical top speed than its theoretical maximum because they didn't have access to the kind of coal that would let them get the maximum power out of their engines
its not like its poorly designed at a fundamental level
Ohhhh
Thanks for the info
Didn’t know that
allies in general had access to far more and better resources
mostly cause theyre all continential or global empires
Where do u guys like learn that because I would love to read or watch something about that
Ye
Pretty much. On paper, WW2 should have bogged down on the Western Front just like WW1, but Germany took Paris through dumb luck and France forgetting to protect their flank.
Germany’s military strategy in WW2 is a series of incredibly stupid decisions, and the only reason they worked in the first three years is a combination of no one thinking they’d be stupid enough to do X and consistently catching their enemies with their pants down
Not just France, but much of Operation Barbarossa’s initial success is down to Germany attacking right in the middle of the USSR reorganizing and retraining its military
I wish there was a way to know what would happen in an alternate reality
Like if the Germans failed dunkirk
They did fail Dunkirk
i wouldnt really boil it down to luck
or rather i disagree with boiling any type of warfare down to luck
france screwed up
and stalin miscalculated
thats not luck thats just how it was
Fair enough
I meant like not even reaching the coast
They failed harder
Oh, you mean getting stopped at the French border
Yeah
ww2 was an anomaly as far as modern wars usually go
more often then not they bog down like ww1 did
There’s a possibility that Italy somehow knocks France out of the war by surprise attack, but that requires Italy to want to invade France in the first place.
I doubt Italy could get far after marching through mountains
The French are slow but not that slow
Yes
i mean afaik they calculated the earliest they could be ready for a large scale war was 1943
and in ww1 the italians didnt get anywhere with austria hungary
at least not to the point where it singlehandedly changed anything
And Italy was historically more interested in the Balkans, Greece, and North Africa
id imagine such an invasion would have similar problems to what they faced against austria hungary
bad terrain and a really narrow frontline
Yep
hi guys
Unemployed activity
I’m in college
Its not a dire urge to view it for me personally
I have no life like no girl or friends HOI4 is the closest to a relationship I’ll ever get
real
It releases at like 11 for me so it’s no bother
3 more hours at most
Holy shit its ThatGuyFromCollege
crazy
why are you guys soo hyped about japan?
wow new hirohito portrait
funneh rework
I dont care about Japoan
I CARE ABOUT CHINA
Ah so it was strife not affairs
I LOVE CHINA
Nvm it’s out now
China is peak
hate this guy
i don't care about any of the asian reworks. rework uk already.
tried to crown himself emperor
Uk is ass, nor enough China
Japan’s Dilemma: Internal Strife and Imperialism😭
now they are. or other thing. make germany To maybe. MAYBE do sealion. even if i delete my navy as uk. the italians naval me. ITALIANS. OR THE JAPNESE BEFORE GERMANY.
Japan and China bouta become my most played nations
As god intended
Imagine the first hours fo the multiplayer lobbies
10 DIFFERENT PLAYERS ON WARLORDS
Emperor Hirohito I serve you 🫡🫡
it will be glorious
I really don't like how they're doing the content tease. Last time there was a Götterdemärung announcement, whole epic cinematic and the pass was really fun, saying all these countries that are in the dlc was hype and here the announcement just... happened...
well no this is different
I think a balance of power would be too simple for Japan
I hope we get fat chin Hirohito
I love that all the various factions can force you to do things.
i want a uk and usa rework. and rework france a bit. it fells soo empty. add democratic path next to tsarist and fascist to russia. rework romania or yugoslavia. there could be a lot of content there. that's realy all i want. oh and make germany do sealion thanks. soo the ai can alone win against allies.
That’s the sort of internal squabbling that Germany should also have
that is from what i can infer
Agreed.
MENGJIANG CONTENT
Amen
from left to right the shared tree seems to be about the strike north and strike south doctrine respectively
i have returned
and a path dealing with china
if we are this much into japan add a path where army takes control. and it's almost imposible to capitulate you due to the army never surrenders.
Finally prime minister..
far right path looks to be historical
to be honest i wouldve preferred hirohito to be in power with the political advisors being the rotating ministers
like just hire me i fix the british tree xD
It scares me
From what ive seen so far japan already gets OP buffs
the lack of warlord content scares me
I hate that
this isa nerf to japan
Idc about warlords
thats why you're cringe B)
They said this about germany too
Lmao
Actually trolling
lol true
No like ill play them but balance wise
Dont care too deeply
current japan:
that aside
its fine
Supremacy of will is strong
Yeah interservice rivalry
herers a better breakdown of the tree
i have never played japan soo i have no idea what is good or bad
i never played china aswell
wait lemme check in files what the polish focus is named bc that reused prob
bc i have seen that icon
GFX_focus_generic_polish_deal in files
well that didn't helped a lot XD
its used a lot
probably not
and the right one looks pacific islands. or i make out like if there would be islands on it
or auustralia
the kodoha wanted to strike north at the soviets
can't wait for the pacific mechanic
Aliance with Poland to fight USSR sounds legit althist because Japan had very good cooperation with Poland about soviet spy
But i'm sure that australia
what?
could be but why would they ally with australia and not the british or americans
just seems a bit random
it does make sense. ally with poland to attack soviets, ally with germany to attack soviets
small fighters
you gain a buff for them production wise
plus they are on the other side of the continent
thank you adam
and japan didn't attack the soviets in ww2 due to they had no resources. as i know. and that the soviet terain was not good for them
That's inteligent tree you got it good. but i think it's just inteligence. due to on the left there is the focus to make one. .or atleast the icon is. and the right starts with a assasination? the soviets have similiar
Japan didnt attack soviets because soviet spy network influenced inside so much that they had power to make Japan ignore soviet
mongolian flag
i'm pretty sure they didn't
i also noticed the last focus on that tree was east asia with the rising sun flag so i wasnt entirely sure
this flag above it seems to be related to mongolia maybe?
no
machuria maybe
it looks like that more
ally china path
research cooperation?
ok i didn't knew about this one. i only learn the eu area mainly. but still it wouldn't make any sense to attack siberia. snowy terrain. almost no resources close. they had no resources due to china war and embargo from usa. and a non agression pact
which ussr broke in 45
pacific hegenomy
still there was huge spy mission in Japan from USSR and i wonder if devs consider this like in disasters or something
End of an era
too blurry to actually know, i dont see anything that would directly hint to that
the focus
in the right
it looks like the german focus for it
cant tell but kind of looks like a globe with something over it
in german tree
puppet focus
and due to you see how the earth is at asia?
well in the japaniese i don't see land. soo it might be pacific islands
i cant tell if the foreign affars are seperate branches or in the exclusive branches
nvm it is asia
that's not china or russia. that's manchuria i think
and all of japan
like the starter territory
all puppet focusses are bad until they dont rework how you can impact on puppet, like why i would pick puppet if i can do collab gov and get compliance to full?
wrong channel #ask-for-help-here
i actually like having puppets
Default puppet giving so little industry kinda sucks
less stuff to garrison
and buffer state
like poland against ussr
if you don't call them in
you use puppet only for 1 reason to exploit stupid AI who will never declare on puppet if they fight you already so you can make your border shorter XD
No thats not it
They were more forced into war with china
By the army xD
they never surrendered or followed orders from the leaders realy
Well yeah
that's why there should be a ultra agrresive path with a coup and army leader ship
leadership*
The army was already in charge btw
at the end. they did a coup. i'm not sure if it succseded
They were the ones to appoint hirohito as emperor
Like in place of the civillian government
the funny thing is that the goverment surrendered to the usa. and then the army after the goverment surrendered i think 8 days later surrendered to the so iets
Yeah?
I mean thats accurate anyway
Army surrendered due to ussr invasion
Civillians surrendered because of nukes
But look at 45. with how fast the soviets destroyed the manchurian army. 1 week. no point of fighting them that early.
yes
Its interesting
it's not as intresting. i love air battles. my favourite but navy is not my favourite.
atleast for me
The zero..
bf109 more intresting in my opinion
zero is a good plane
but the usa used boom and zoom from the start soo
not realy dogfighting
plus they were very easily countered by AA
1 shoot in the fuel
i know
They could never bring that much ordnance
Its 30% of the surface of earth really big
With very little land
yes i know. but the doctrine of the japanies i might say something stupid here. was descisive battles. destroy the enemy navy.. like at midway. which failed
soo it was concentrated in 1 spot
usually
No, they knew they couldnt win after pearl harbour
That was kind of like the risk of their plan
They forgot to bomb the stuff which is actually important in pearly harbour ofc they couldn't win XD
twin engine zero not bad too :v

Why the Japanese Attacked the Uni...
is a 5th path for a full japanese monarchy possible or would it boil down to just the fascist path
it looks horible ngl
Kinda old and not too in depth but itll tell you everything important
Contextually
thanks
i will
but i mean. the japaniese bombed the ships
not fuel, repair yards etc etc
Thats a tactical mistake/blunder
Not a strategic one
The difference is that tactical mistakes are kind of unavoidable
i actually would call it a strategic one. i think they tought that the ships will sunk and not stay repairable
No?
Strategic would be like
The admirals deciding to only hit them in a limited way
As a war plan
ok ye mb
though i kinda miss that ingame pearl harbour is not a thing
it's like they should add a nerf for usa navy for like a month
Used to be a thing
Then became the japanese 6 month Tora! Tora! Tora! Buff
it was? i only started playing post götterdamerüng
Before man the guns
will anything be added to actually worth doing island hopping in pacific?
bc rn it has no point. i just put my navy as usa to the philipines. and around the japaniese. naval thaiwan and then mainland
If it debuffs/buffs allies and japan
something like that
bc i don't thikn it is ingame
atm
Did u watch the vid btw?
half way rn
till now it only said stuff i know
What would make island hopping worth it would be making it so that supply lines across naval routes lose effectiveness the longer they go without stopping at a naval base
I mean it isnt a very shocking vid by any means
But its just like basic context
And then having supply routes over sea chain between naval bases
yes i learnt ww2 for a few thousond hours. atleast the european front.
not bad idea
They actually couldn’t bomb the important stuff in Pearl Harbor because the aircraft carriers were out doing aircrew training. That’s actually why the attack was such a surprise despite Oahu having a primitive Radar station. The Radar operator mistook the incoming Japanese aircraft for American aircraft.
Also, the US managed to salvage a good 90% of all ships sunk at Pearl Harbor within two and a half years, so the attack didn’t have long-term material consequences. The human and psychological costs were real, but the material costs were minimized.
yes that's why i said they forgot to bomb important stff
stuff*
the repair yards and fuel
They did
It’s just much easier to repair those, especially from a single attack, than to refloat a sunken battleship
And the US was the primary producer of fuel at that time. Blowing up the fuel at Pearl would just mean the US has to bring in more fuel from the mainland
No shit it's easier to repair xD. but if they destroy more shipyards. more time to repair ships
though they shouldn't at the first place do the attack
There were a grand total of two(2) dry docks in Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941
Both were bombed, IIRC
By the end of 1942, there were between three and four Dry Docks operational in Pearl Harbor, alongside several Floating Drydocks, some of which had been sunk on December 7th
No matter how devastating a single attack is, unless you burn your target entirely to the ground, chances are that it’ll get repaired fairly quickly.
Especially after a thermonuclear bomb!
Japan would have to restrain themselves from angering america quite well to reach those
The japan rework so far looks neat
good old fashioned four way internal politics juggle
Spanish rework gonna be crazyy if they modernize it
So for the first time we have a major power that instead of full green buff in 1941-42, we will have a country that specialized for one thing and get meaningful debuff in exchange?
Hoi4 not give infinite buffs???????💀
thats Japans IRL problem
they could only focus on either the army and navy
Its cool nobody does navy in SP anyways
You got me...
Tbh, SP is the only environment where navy can to be done in a meaningful way, in MP you either air force or subs-spam at best, naval warfare in this current state doesn't have enough strategic value. Only in alt-his you got more naval balance or the game is set up for naval battle.
no point when you can just take an AI nations entire navy when they capitulate
AI should scuttle their navy when they capitulate
Honestly i really appreciate the developers behind the next dlc, it is really shaping out to be a good update to the game.
They said the tree is the size of Germany
The Japan tree will be as large as Germany
Let’s goooo
We need some insane paths to sooth my soul
Who needs gf when you have larp
left = monarchist
right = fascist
middle looks like diplomacy
But what about the wholesome Japanese democracy path where you invade China and the rest of East Asia in order to cement your new democratic economic sphere of influence
It's not something we've ever seen in a Japanese focus tree I don't think
I imagine you’d just back one of the Chinese powers
okay i already posted this suggestion on the forum but, i think Japan should have a focus about trade negotiation with the USA (this focus can be only unlocked if jap invaded china and USA put jap under embargo), if this negotiation succeed, japan embargo from the US will be lift, a non agression pact between USA and JAP is signed and japan have to deal with a white peace or armistice in china (neutral usa have higher chance to accept if jap have for example 3x the size of the US navy), if the negotiation are not a success like it happenend irl with pearl harbor, japan gain focus against USA, jap navy faction grant a boost in expanding south, USA get a bonus defense against japan for some time and their navy a movement bonus and production boost. That's just my idea for making jap and us more interlinked as they were both pacific power
Which one of these 3 would be the best?
Probably full carrier or balanced
Thanks
carriers are just better than Battleships.
When is dlc estimated to come out
I hope on December 7th
a day which will live in infamy
I wonder how Democratic and Communist Japan will go.
I can definitely see a militarist Democratic/Communist path where they try by force to liberate colonies, possibly by sponsoring uprisings and intervening or just outright invasion.
Maybe Democratic Japan would try to influence the KMT to become less corrupt and more democratic and intervene in the Chinese Civil War
I think the Democratic Japan might reach out to the UK to renew the Anglo Japanese Alliance, but I wonder if that will make the Allies too powerful compared to the Axis
imo in the case of democratic japan they should push for anti colonialism in asia anyways
thatd be pretty neat
having a democratic country that fights uk + usaif necessary
You can already join Allies as Japan currently
Oh yeah
I never bothered playing alt history Japan tho
It was funny Banzai Charging the Germans in the Rhine
you can't actually banzai charge unless you directly occupy land in Germany
It would actually be neat if you could ally the United States on the condition they free the Philippines and then the countries can go on an anti-colonial/communist crusade
oh yea thats sorta what i was thinking
like demo japan can offer or have an ultimatum to colonial powers in east asia
and based on how other countries react they can either create an alliance, push for neutrality of foreign powers, liberation of colonies, etc etc
The Eagle and the Sun
I can't think of another focus name for a US-Japan alliance that isn't just Pacific Treaty Organization or something generic like that
Probably would be the faction name lol
I do hope they offer some cool mechanics with co prosperity sphere for both historical and alt
im curious to see what they do with that
if it will remain just a faction or if it will become an economic thing on top of that
I wonder what the 4 way balance of power thing will do if you go communist, like will it just no longer be relevant?
Seeing how the inner circle mechanic doesn’t transfer over to other ideologies I’m not sure if that will either, but also the inner circle really only makes sense if you’re fascist so idk
germany doesnt have inner circle for its alt history
so it probably just
wont be a thing
We’ll find out eventually
I think it'll work for non aligned, fascist, and democratic
Like Democratic could be increasing the power of the civilian government while weaking the navy and army
Fascist and Nonaligned will probably have it since the Kodoha faction has been teased to be both of those ideologies and they have access to the navy/army focuses
But idk about Communist since there isn't an emperor anymore and the zaibatsus are probably gonna be nationalized
Honestly I have to agree with you on that, having you focus on the civilian government as democratic makes a lot of sense
I read a dev reply that each path will include the imperial influence. Probably going to be called something for communists
I’m interested to see how it turns out
TBH, the Kodoha is even more ultranationalist and militaristic than the Toseiha
Could also just be anti communist which then pulls China into a faction with the Soviets and the Soviets do their faction with Germany
i relly hope
to see something
on mejiang
whatever it called
japnese mongolia
recreate yuan
or something
something fun
A bit unrealistic tbh but he is seen as a symbol for pan mongolism and mongolian irredentism
Mengjiang
close nuff
there are a few focuses about "evolving" Mengjiang with the final focus being a war goal on Mongolia so I am assuming there'll be a new formable or Mengjiang will get cores on it
Mongol Military Government
Mongol United Autonomous Government
emblem of Mengjiang
yeah they blurred it
Meanies
honestly what I am confused about is why there's the African tricolour at the right
Enhance! xd
Finally big Mengjiang
Maybe there’s a focus for an axis link up in the middle east
Is China getting new focus trees or just reworked mechanics
just for that, I'm blurring it more
Probably would be more like create a new faction with the USA against communism and fascism while also toppling Asia to democratic
The pc my dad bought for me when I was in middle school has finally died 🥀🥀🥀
Should've taken better care of it
It’s 12 years old pre built
This thing took me from algebra 1 to my doctorate
Yeah I think with the more demanding games it’s starting to wear older hardware
Im gonna build a new one so I can play my games at max quality bc rn I only have a 2090
2090 doesnt exist
2060 I mean

🥺 I can help if you want-

Absolutely not
😔
Anyone know how to fix a dell
Power comes on goes to loading screen but stops signal and keyboard connection right afterwards
Do you think will be more dev corners for more nations or thats it only philippines china and japan?
Maybe, maybe not who knows but japan China and the Philippines is enough for me tbh not gonna complain
Damn atleast they could give siam and indonesia some focus
If they give Indonesia something I hope its sum like Belgium and the congo has, same with the Philippines bc trees like that are really fun
Oh the shared focuses with overlord?
Prolly just gunna be smaller mechanics
That’s what the diary titles imply
Machukuo will hopefully be reworked
Laptop or desktop?
I can help with a desktop, but a laptop is beyond me
Nvm it fixed itself yay
If it happens again, you can try plugging the cables connecting the monitor and keyboard into the computer into different ports on the computer or the monitor
Its the secret tree where haile selassie becomes the emperor of japan
Where do u see the tri color
Kodoha branch theres on of the focuses near the top with the ethiopian colours
There's also this Ethiopian flag right under the Kodoha tree starts
Maybe the Kodoha will be able to help Ethiopia and even ally them
Imagine if that’s some other random country instead
Nah, the green yellow red with the brown in the middle is way too specific for it to be something random
and those colours didnt really start appearing until after african decolonialism began
it could probably only be referencing ethiopia
doubt its anything to do with an ethiopian takeover of japan
more likely just supporting them
Thats fair 😅 still cool to see a new focus tree have focuses dealing with another nation with a focus tree, i wish they would embrace more international diplomacy than just faction making
They can already exile to japan btw
i am aware
ive done it like once
because i dont often play ethiopia
probably the least enjoyable country to play
Switzerland exists
Forgot about them
Probably the most convoluted tree ever
Bba wouldve been better if albania was in it
Like no country is as unplayable as switzerland
I still have one more achievement to do for them
Then i never have ti play it again
Iceland
At least they get like a combined 70% attack on marines
Or something similar
At peak strenght
And also they have options to actually go to war
To be honest i had a lot of fun playing iceland for the achievement
The only restrictions it has are its manpower and location
But atleast the fascist and alt his path let you gain free territory
Njett molotoff
Swiss army is obscene if you play your cards right
Around late November to December
Switzerland is super fun when you optimize your intelligence agency to steal tech from Germany as early as possible. Your research catches up very quickly
you also just get obscene buffs
Its crazy. I played them for the first time last month, early on thought they sucked, but once you spend some time optimizing for territory and intel early then buffs afterwards, you become insanely powerful in the late game. Super fun
I mean even with no territory and intel you are still OP
Trans-Pacific Alliance.
Save the fancy names for focuses that need the alliance
The ring of fire
is there like a "Ask a dev" but for here
i kinda wanna ask
is there gonna be japanese anarchist content?
You could always try the PDX forums
Idk if they'll reply to you but there's a good chance that somebody reads your post
Skimmed over ethiopia
which nations are getting a new dlc again?
So far the countries confirmed are China, Commie China, Manchukuo (nothing was shown for them, just a confirmation that they are getting worked on), Japan, and the Philippines
I think Siam might also get a tree in the next dlc but nothing's been confirmed yet
so like a sphere of prosperity? a greater east asian one maybe?
maybe you could call it...
ngl as a funny but ideal thought
paradox should make their own chatgpt-type AI so people can ask it what the best division or what meta they should play 🤔
idk just thought of that cuz it can help alongside tutorials (i've played 3.4k hours, i don't know navy, but i know infantry tanks planes etc.)
no
ai is bad and also sucks at that anyway
ai is just bad as an investment anyway
costs a lot to develop and a lot to maintain
800 dollars later i have an ai
is it good? no. but will it suffice for something as simple as hoi4? yes.
i consider that cheap
Hoi4 meta is not as simple as it seems to you 😭
Also you have to run the servers
Like constantly
power-on hours never been expensive
For a lot of users of the video game
What if they made a chatgpt bot that actually thinks when it plays rather than have everything scripted
Could be funny tbh
Yeahh
If they didnt make it extremely smart, the dumb actions that change games would be so rememberable lol
<@&846894118219022336> scam
Got it
I cant wait for this DLC release
