No
🥀🥀🥀
I hope so but I think not otherwise they would have just said that to begin with
was there an update recently that changed the size of the UI and division icons or am I actually going INSANE
maybe im insane but it looks so much smaller
There was no recent update that did this
did you perhaps change monitor resolution?
or change monitors entirely?
nope, same resolution, no mods activated, scale is the same
I hope we get a dev diary tomorrow.
What do you think the next dev diary will be about?
either japan or china
I think it would be nice if we got some info on new states being added to China
Or maybe a first look at the new tree
imagine if china turns into new USA with 60+ states being added to it 🧌
They need 100+ states
They already have 90
Ccp needs rework
I can’t wait for the insane alt history paths
all of China needs a rework
TBF
KMT and CCP should be get the most content
Yea and there has to be a way to combine communist China and Russia
Agreed and the warlords should have some unique schizo paths
the warlords should have smaller trees with some different flavor
I'm curious how bad the KMT are going to get nerfed
Mongolia and Inner Mongolia need trees
like its pretty easy to win as them currently
I won as them in 1938
Japan was down to 20 Divs
Kaizeriech level debuffs
Just negatives for everything
Manchuko should get some more Qing flavor
You know what would be cool a more expansive industrial tree post war
It needs something more insane
like what
I’ll leave it to paradox to come up with it
Also a silk roads empire Easter egg
I mean the Qing Path is already insane
you basically rebel against Japan and take over all of China
Puyi wanted to become emperor again so it’s not crazy
I’m thinking emperor of heaven
yeah but him doing it on his own
He was always a puppet so really it would be the Manchus in the cabinet that would be controlling it
Also remember that people fought against KMT in the name of the Chinese emperor
Did you know Puyi died as a regular guy and was apart of the ccp and remarried ?
yes
I knew that
The allies suck so much at D day, i hope the next update helps them focus their naval invasions
when does the new faction dynamics update come out?
Where’s the dev diary roadmap?
Could be this week or next
There’s atleast 6 in August
I think this is the old version
According to the newer version, they're already behind schedule
No thats the new one
This is old
They decided to blur dates because of uncertainty/workload
Which is fine
Gotterdammerung finally has a sale
Anyone knows how long this sale will prob last
18 august
ty
In your opinion when will be implemented the proposals of the dev corners?
Judging by their regular schedule, somewhere this year
I think this dlc will be released in December
Because historical reasons
Where do you find this?
And the free patch? Before?
what free patch I have never heard of this until now
IK historical Japan will be free and maybe historical KMT and CCP China
I’d guess September or November tbh
so end of the year makes sense
Lowkey historical Korea too
probably not but I could be wrong
Tbh since hoi4 has been looking to extent time played theyll add korea with both hist and ahist options for postwar content
Is what i think
But my 1948 end date
1948 had the korea divide
Yeah
But were they still basically under American and Soviet occupation or did they get their governments installed
I suppose the dev corners implementation will be in the free patch
We need hoi5 to have a 1948 start date
there is the Cold war mod
That would required making all the equipment anew
- more technologies
Focus trees for all nations
Might aswell make Hoi5
What about a 1988 start date
That’s what I said
Lol sorry, i completely misread it as we need hoi4
Hoi5 will probably come when we are all in retirement tho
Yes thats the time ive been saying
5 ish years from now
i wonder if HOI5 will be again ww2
They still have 5 years, maybe they'll make it about ww3
unfunny
and no
Hoi5 will be more organic, more sandbox, with more locations and all elements (production, training, research) will be more linked to the map.
I know this
Theres currently no reason for them to publish it at minimum
there isnt much to improve on
With at most some minimal resources already developing it (more in the lines of ideas/outlines than real code)
unless you change the core mechanics of the game
which is what hoi5 would be if it ever came
Then youre just gonna make hoi3 (inaccesable to new players like vic3) but with alt hist
i can see them completely scraping the focus system for somthing more dynamic and less linear
With recent games with the exception of ck3, the games are not at all accessable to new players
Ck3 is peak design imo, just not peak long term gameplay
Its a fine line to thread
Thread on*
wdym
Ck3 is super easy to learn, everything else imo not really
yeah it seems to have more mechanics than hoi4
Ck3 has the thing of if you choose any thing to specialize in its just busted
And also your character die
So you dont keep it forever
Dies*
it'd be cool to have that in hoi4
like
more leader interactions
2026: the end of Expansion Pass 2 (Japan, Chinese, south east asia, energy, naval rework...)
2027: the end of Expansion Pass 3 (Allies, probably north Africa, diplo landscape, politics rework...)
2028: IDK, but more country packs are coming
2029-30 HoI 5
seems about right
Ehh i doubt it with the player chart of hoi4
But we will see
They need to find a way to revive the youtube community
Also the 4 untouched countries in north America
But the game is very alive and relevant
Gotta squeeze out these last bits of money from the playerbase
dont forget liberia dlc
Thats not it man
and bhutan expansion
The game just is not dying/is actively growing
and tibet rework
The only thing dying has been the youtube community
Which is why people sprout information that is just false
And paradox needs to find a way to revolve that issue
well tbf it did hit its peak active players 9-10 months ago
with gdr release
its still very much growing
despite its age
Its not about peaks just the general line goes up
Well yes, but I also consider them to be a greedy company
Like most are
All companies look to make profit
I do not have exact numbers on hand but it is still growing, though of course its not something like Fortnite growth
EA, Activision and CA are worse TBCH
Yeah, that's why they exist
the ytb community is also not bad
Not saying that they aren't?
like I'm not paying 1000 USD worth of money to unlock a map
i mean the big ytbers are still very much active
and still making decent numbers
And that pertains to what I was talking about how?
Stagnation stage rn
Which is bad for a growing game
I'm talking about total war Warhammer 1-3
I believe YouTube as a platform is contracting slightly at the moment due to many factors, its not a specific community that is or isn't shrinking
Again, how does this matter to what I'm talking about?
because the grass is always greener
only time can tell i suppose
but the thing is this game isnt dying anytime soon
Yeah
I get why people argue it tho
Very stagnant on youtube which is a lot of its publicity
there will always be that kind of people
yeah thats more of youtube problem because youtube has been doing dumb changes that nobody wants lately
Alright, I should've figured that I wasn't going to get a good answer on this
It doesn't matter if EA is worse
Or whatever
Those things didn't matter to what I was saying
I mean I remember that games as old as 1997 had expnasion packs
Theyre very loud and i dislike misinformation (even though i spread it on accident sometimes but yk)
Age Of Empires 1 had Rise of Rome which was made in 1998
its not like they're changing anything
Age of Empires 2 the conqueres 2000
people that play continue to play
Red alert 2 Yuri's Revenge 2001
and new people are always coming
Yeah sure, and in certain ways you could consider that greedy to
I know its just better to tell them about how it is
Changing 1 persons mind does a lot
most of them just say it out of hate for paradox
so its hard to change their mind
Mot particularly
Not on this server anyway
we didn't complain about this in the 2000's to 2013 though
I mean I was born in 2001
Well that was because I wasn't born for the majority of that time
and there were a ton of crappy shovelware games
Now I'm here and I'm going to complain
The old game model is quite good for longevity
The issue with the games market now is that most games arent given the opportunity to run that course
Hoi4 and tf2 have that opportunity; tf2 was abandoned instead of expanded on, and the pdx devs do not wish the same for hoi4
A great example within pdx is stellaris who has been granted this opportunity and is being given continuous love and support for so many years
Hoi5 will come if this opportunity doesnt exist anymore for hoi4
still better than Creative Assembly because they abandonned their core audiance
last true historical Creative Assembly game was Thrones of Brittannia in 2017
and it wasn't good
last good Total war game was Attila total war 2015
and if Hoi5 comes out hoi4 will still be used
for modding
Okay, cool to know ig
I mean Attila, despite being 10 years old has a big modding scene
same with Rome 2 which was released in 2013
and Star Wars Empire at war from 2007 has mods being updated this year as a matter of fact
It looked cool on youtube tbf
Thrones of britannia
I played Attila
Didnt have a pc never played it
I had a blast as the WRE
I get that but there are other smaller scope campaigns that are better
like the Kingdoms expanisons for Medival II which are included with the steam purchase
like the Americas campaign in which you can play as the Spanish, Aztecs, Mayans and Appache to name a few
🥀
Any updates on the DevCorner? Have new dates been announced, or is there any delay info?
Maybe tomorrow they said slight adjustment but this feels a little more than slight
Give it time
Ok yes sir
Is a Dev Diary expected today?
I’d guess Thursday
Maybe we'll get the next Dev Diary when the Official Announcement Trailer for the next DLC drops.
That would be awesome
Forums
Sorry
So no dev diary today?
There is no dev diary, there is only dev corner...
The problem is that the devs have been working in circular rooms, thereby there are no dev corners
So it's Dev Circles?
Rip dev thingie
Give us dev shapes pls
Why not dev sizes
Nothing ever happens ahh dev corner release dates
You’ve got an hour
Hmmm, it maybe today due to Hiroshima
Since the nuking happened between the 6th and the 9th and paradox normally posts on tuesdays or thursdays with dev corners
No dev corner at this time 😦
Thats a stretch but maybe
Itd more likely be like pacific campaign dates like iwo jima lol
If it was Iwo Jima it would’ve been February-March
Well
Guadalcanal campaign started today in 1942 so that could be a clue
Maybe Tuesday it’ll be released, not sure though
You think we'll get a dev diary next week?
My great grandfather was there
Lol
Aboard the USS Dakota
My Grandpa was 3
Damn
I talked to my grandpa he rememberes being given candy by soldiers during the 1940’s when he was a little kid
what nationality was your father
American
cool
South Dakota I assume?
Or was there an actual USS Dakota
Yes that one
Im gonna see its sister ship USS Massachusetts this year hopefully
Only the USS Massachusetts and Alabama are left
When new dlc comes
Probably November
Bet it’ll be part of an expansion pass
Hmm
Something in Southeast Asia/Oceania? Stuff about Siam, Malaysia, Australia, and the Dutch East Indies?
That or a country pack about British colonies in general
Nothing in europe prob
Which is fine
World isnt european
Japan and China main dlc, Southeast Asia secondary dlc so Phillipines, Siam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Burma. And then a cosmetic vehicle pack (prob special projects)
They could do something in the Balkans, maybe. I think Yugoslavia is the only country not yet covered by a dlc or country pack in there, though.
It has been
Which one?
Doesn’t really make sense in an expansion pass together tho
Death or Dishonor I think?
Right, one of the integrated dlcs
Given Hungary was part of that country pack, and it got revised in the latest DLC, I wouldn’t count any other countries in that pack as not being candidates for revisiting, but they’d need to be the focus of a dlc, not a country pack
Tbh Czechs should’ve been part of GDR
And it was a crime that it wasn’t
(Incidentally, this is why I don’t think the US or Britain will get a new focus tree for a while, even though their focus trees are particularly bad, because their focus trees last got revised with Man the Guns, which is still separate DLC, rather than integrated content. If Man the Guns gets integrated, then we’ll see what happens)
Would probably see a greater Allies DLC that interacts with the new faction system more
A DLC focused on the Balkans featuring Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Albania, and Romania could be cool. Maybe a revisiting of diplomacy to make stuff like surprise attacks and/or faction changes more dynamic.
That would also be good. I honestly feel like, compared to the other DLCs, everything that’s being touched on in the dev corners currently is worth two dlcs. Maybe there’s one for the naval overhaul, and one for the faction dynamics overhaul.
Acting like bulgaria isnt one of the best focus trees
We need a Cold War dlc
What’s an expansion pass?
It’s what was done last year for the Germany dlc
I wasn’t playing last year lol
It’s a dlc pack. So the last one came with graveyard of empires, a vehicle pack and gotterdamerung
So instead of spending like maybe $50, it cost $40 for it all
Oh ok
Yeah
Honestly if you are sane, I’d just buy the specific dlc you want
I own all dlcs
Then buy the pass, it’ll save you some money next time 😂
Technically get a bonus song too
I wasn’t sure what was that
That makes sense
Bro where the diaries this is crazy blud
Truth nuke
Dlc will release in either october or november
January 2027
Surely they put one out today
Otherwise they have to pack them at the end of the month
It’s gonna be next week, not this one
My only living condition for the next 2 years is to get the Czechoslovakian reworked focus tree
Little entente countries have just so old and small focus trees that they are not even fun to after few tries
So I hope in the next update they make it 🤞
Bro complaining about europe
Thats crazy
I enjoy playing Europe
Poland and Austria Hungary is on top for me
Its a good focus tree tbh
People just be hating
But like asia and central america need wayy more work than europe
the default focus tree is arguably better
No?
Default tree is better at gun rush
But you get fastest engine 3 in the game + 6 research slots
Also decisions to take islands and form oceania
Its not that bad just the political tree is underdeveloped
that GIF got lots of flashing so imma remove, please avoid
When is the japan rework gonna happen
This year most likely
NZ has a similar amount of IC compared to Australia, they're not weak. There's 6 MIL and 4 CIV in there compared to 3 and 4 for the generic focus tree. NZ also has a bunch of navy focuses with massive ahead of time penalties, and can send volunteers while democratic.
Sure, they could do better. But why would they spend more resources developing New Zealand?
Nzl has like one of the best air trees in the game tbh
Which even in singleplayer with good usage is just really good for fighting generally other minors
Ofc it cant fight a major power
But thats fine?? Not every minor needs to be equal to majors in fighting strenght
It should be a challenge if you choose to play a minor power imo
But at the same time they should be similar to other minor powers around them
Take for example iran of a nation thats weaker than the other minor powers around it because of focus tree bloat for afghan, india and iraq but not irna
Iran*
Imo thats bad design
Fr
Okay but when u look at the historical power of czechoslovakia in 1936 it was literally the strongest nations after the majors
And it has one of the most underdeveloped focus trees in the game
So u can’t really achieve what could have been achieved if brits and french didn’t betray them in the Munich conference
^
Before the Munich agreement Czechoslovakia was the industrial powerhouse of Eastern Europe
Yeah
But it doesn’t seem like that in HOI4
Even Poland couldn’t match it nor Romania or Yugoslavia (which are all larger)
We living in interesting times
we live in a period in which politicians arent very popular
this is not the place to discuss that
Dev diary next week ?
Wonder if China is being included in this dlc
Yes I think
Carrier rework btw
If I knew navy this would matter to me
And also island hopping better
Japan and china are confirmed
Anyone else is not
I can’t wait to here new features
so we're getting resource rework, navy rework, and island rework with japan and china + whatever else nations all in one?
Don't forget faction rework
damn
do we know which of these we getting for free
damn hold up
Faction might be with DLC
Power will be base game 100%
Japan historical will be updated
wont faction being dlc be messy though
I think Japan, China, Manchuko and the warlords will be the only focus with Japan and China getting the most then Manchuko and the PRC and then a better generic tree for the warlords
Possibly a bigger powerstruggle for a warlord to claim China
i think siam deserves a tree
unless they do a country pack with burma and indochina and whatever else
I think that japan and china should both get separate dlcs, so that they can focus on one major in detail, having a chinese dlc with a huge rework and a good communist china tree and having every warlord have a baltic style focus tree in one dlc and then having japan having a huge in detail rework with manchukuo having a decent rework and some south east asia new focuses (siam, indonesia, malaya)
Think the Phillipines would be alongside Japan too
And it seems like Korea may exist now
<@&846894118219022336>
Isn't China considered to be a minor in terms of its significance in WW2?
With its civil war and war with Japan being the major events rather
Technically
But china is genuinely a majorbin everything but name
If china gets a rework it deserves one the size of the ussr
I could see a country pack for China rather than a Mechanic DLC
Or italy
That would be ideal
Something similar to the Nordics or India
As the problem with giving countries Mechanic DLCs is that if people aren't interested in the country it isnt optimal to "force" them to buy DLCs for the mechanics
With a huge china rework and communist china also getting a decently sized rework with post war focuses
And the warlords also deserve some love
Eqch should have some unique paths
Yeah it'd be something similar to Ethiopia in BBA
Like sinkiang could have some interesting choiches
Or xibei san ma since afaik that region is muslim majority
Islamic republic of china path
china and jap are confirmed for next dlc
idk about warlords but likely
absolutely not
Japan’s army spent close to a decade in China, and, despite China largely being the focus of the IJA, China managed to at least them bogged down, albeit through immense sacrifice.
The only reason China isn’t considered a Major is because its territory is split into all the warlords.
minor significance is what he claimed
when they were the bloodiest front and if it wasnt for china holding out, japan wouldve had severely more fighting strenght/economic strenght
and if they had conceded to japanese demands at any point, the US either wouldnt have embargoed japan or it wouldnt be a multi front war for japan allowing them to possibly win, or at least, force the US to back out
It’s debatable if they could have forced the US to back out, given the disparity in naval construction capacity between the US and Japan
yeah of course, but it was always about the initial strike
which they wouldve had significantly more resources for
The biggest problem is that once Pearl Harbor happened, the US would not accept anything but unconditional surrender from Japan, and it would take a truly insane amount of ships being sunk to change that.
Solution: Sink Japan
in terms of actual strength yea they dont stack up to even italy other then in sheer numbers
but strategically they were instrumental in tying down the majority of the ija
also the entire reason japan entered the war against the allies atp was to get resources to continue the war in china to get the resources from china
the fact that they were unable to do so is a huge reason why their war machine wasnt able to keep up past the first 6 months of 1942
I don’t think that was the bloodiest front, I think that was the eastern front.
second at worst then
Yeah. Eastern front was over 30 million casualties about and china was 23-29 depending on the count.
But does that count the civilian casualties?
^
The Chinese front was possibly the worst for civilians
Both sides were fully willing to kill large amounts of civilians
The Chinese to try and keep the IJA out, the IJA because they were encouraged to be brutal
I thought that next big expansion would include JAP and CHI and country pack would include Southest Asia...
But it would make sense for the expansion to include only Jap focusing on Pacific and south east asia, and country pack to include Chinese civil war and defense against Japanese invation.
CHI and JAP is guaranteed
.
China lost like half of all the people that died in WW2? How is that minor
China also got a permanent seat at the UN security council.
Partially because they were a USA yes man, but they got a permanent seat nonetheless.
Then the communists successfully couped the existing government
Their death rates are estimated at 20 million nowhere near half of all deaths in ww2 that's about 35 to 40 millions
Does that count civilians?
Yes
Military deaths for China are small compared to civilian ones
3 to 4 million military deaths and the rest are civilians I think
The main point is that it was by no means a minor frontier
^
The Chinese front was the longest-running front of World War 2
That isn’t something that can easily be discounted
20 million is a safe estimate often disputed
Even so, that’s about 1/3-1/4 of all WW2 deaths
So not minor
Next
Didn't mean to showcase it as minor I just wanted to give more detail on chinese deaths not downplay their part in the war
I just hope China feels like a larger conflict. To me Europe has always felt really large and difficult to fight in. While China felt kind of small in comparison.
I think because ultimately none of the Warlord Cliques are really in the main path of Japanese expansion, so it always boils down to both the Republic of China and Communist China versus Japan, which isn't exactly as multifaceted as Europe's conflict, mostly because there's only really one front to the land battle
I think just the Chinese map feels sorta small too.
Like comparatively, Switzerland and the Benelux seem a decent size due to reworks
Needs more states/tiles
That’s very true with the single front though
Is China confirmed for the dlc?
mercator projection issue tbh
yeah
Yep
How to increase commander division capacity
You put a high amount of units on the commander, then just use the command normally until he unlocks a trait, for field marshalls that also lets you then spend a trait point to upgrade their capacity
30m was just the soviets i think
without germans
unless youre only counting civilians
i mean china also just needs more tiles
fighting in china should be like fighting in russia in terms of size but it doesnt really feel like it
cause theres only like 30 states or smth
and i think they need to make all the coastal cities their own states like kaiserreich cause those were very important strategically
Do you mean more states or more provinces? Because more provinces would make fighting more granular, where more states would affect what factories go where
dev diary today?
I hope it's this week.
Got an update from Per regarding timelines posted over on reddit, posting it here so that more people can see it too
https://www.reddit.com/r/hoi4/comments/1mnclxb/just_a_small_timeline_update/
Alright, thank you.
Thank you Per, very cool
Busy week end of August
@everyone
10 days until next dev corner
Oof
everyday until the 21 and then again until 25 august
and as always Chak, thanks for this information, you bless the people that dont have reddit like me 🙃
Wonder if the announcement is for the dlc or the diaries
The dlc will change everything
there are a few new additions to the sale if we look closely
very nice!!
both preferably
Think it needs more states for sure but some of the western areas could use more tiles
For instance Germany and India got way more states
USA and China needs it too
Right, I’m so used to Road to ‘56 that I forgot that there’s only 42 core states in for the US in the base game(IIRC all of New England is one big state and Delaware is absorbed into Maryland)
You have to balance them somehow
The Soviets get like double the factories as the US which is bogus
simple: just give them a tiny amount of max factories at start. Even stacking as many +factories in a state bonuses as you can get, you're not going to get a lot of extra build slots
besides, if any country deserves to have an insane industrial capacity, it's the US. It basically provided half the weapons used in the war by the Allies.
Yet has half the industry as the Soviets late game.
TBF, a lot of America’s industrial capacity should not be in number of factories but in bonuses to factory output.
IE: America should have double the output of everyone else with an equivalent number of factories
no, then people would just civ boost usa and get lend lelase
so?
Just like real life
well i dont think it was necessarily just how many factories they had
usa got the bonus of being too far away to bomb and never having their production lines, transports, and everything else you need to make shit interupted by occupation or battles
idk too much about this part of the war particularly but id assume ussr would have more building slots just cause its bigger no?
i think the eastern states need more tiles over western
mostly cause the war never reaches western china and historically a large reason china was able to stalemate japan until 1944 was because they quite literally had 6x the men in their army, the impact of which isnt felt ingame because there arent enough tiles to spam that many divisions
If you look at production outputs of countries during WW2, I mean really charts of items produced, you’d see this isn’t true
The USSR and Germans received 30% and 25% efficiency cap in their trees respectively. Let's hope for a US update that brings it up to par
Never mind the fact that the Soviets and Germans also received better tank designers than the Detroit arsenal
Us gets a +75% factory output bonus 🔥
Hover over the toaster
Me when MEFO bills.
Germany's version of IOUs.
Left branches rise up.
I go with P.E.G
Conquer people
Like Poland, Benelux, France, etc
but i need factories to build tanks
and i need tanks to conquer poland
will this help with my problem
where is that
Another day another no dev diary published
They changed it...
Mark my words
You expect a reveal trailer before tho
Prob first day will just be the reveal
And the scope of the coming expansion
Who knows, but that's like uhhh
should i also do this?
No
That just gives stability
Hence why I said I’m crying and throwing up
You want your consumer goods to be as low as possible
Just restart and do left economic tree
Same but I'm also rolling myself on the floor and peeing
Literally projectile pooping
Def a long time
Hoping the whole faction system is better off
should i put more military factories into medium tanks or wait for shortage to be over
More on tanks
May i refer you to #ask-for-help-here for questions like these?
No need to bring up a modern politician (is not allowed) but if someone is sending you slurs using this server as the contact point, it is actionable.
In the future, no need to bring up the issue in these channels, you just need to DM @polar badger and create a ticket, all the Moderators and my colleagues in the Community Team can see what you send
I am going to slightly clean up the chat to remove the offending content, but let's get back to the channel topic, yeah?
Anyone see that we added GDR to the sale
they do by themselfs
@obsidian canyon sorry man ur not allowed :(
you would be correct
mire
more
he's banned though
500ish says is not good
why
he said bad stuff
Any politician after the time period of the game (which is 1945-1950 ish) is not allowed for your profile or to be posted
Military members I don't usually count in this unless they are the people making decisions similar to politicians, because that becomes controversial. hence the disallowing of them.
Of course there are other people who are controversial themselves and we disallow that too but its mostly to stop people from targeting one another and inciting arguments
can i put a mussolini pfp then?
if its the HOI assets, yes
if not, then no
I do not prohibit anyone using HOI assets (not modded ones except for like that 'sigma' one) within their profiles
aw
i wanted to put the looksmaxxing mussolini
the sigma version of the HOI asset I allow because its a harmless filter, but custom ones outside of it aren't
sorry friend
can I put the Führer pfp?
if its the base hoi asset, yes
ok
but you cannot name yourself after him
so this one’s good?
is that the current one? or is that the old one from one of the DD's
old one
mm, I'd allow it, seeing as we published it in the DD's, its fair to allow for game assets to be used in profiles
edit: added an extra 'as' for whatever reason lol
also whats DD!
developer somethting?
The acronym for Developer Diary
There's DD's for developer diaries and DC for Developer Corners
DD also means destroyer
Will the alt paths be toned down this time around ?
I like the whole emperor of chile and France thing but it is getting a bit much
If I play a country that doesn't have unique names for destroyers, I will be naming them after Developer Diaries
Because they are DDs
SS "Art and Achievements"
Would this apply to Arnold Schwarzenegger
Dang
So we can't talk about the Terminator?
Terminator version prob okay
You can talk about the movie
That was before he took office
Me when I find a loophole

Death of Stalin was perfect
I am a defender of Rule 2, but I do like beating it up sometimes
For the politics rule I count up to 1945, though I'm considering lengthening it to 1950
But never to the point I truly break it
U just hate me
Lowkey Stalin’s death would be a good point 😂
YO WE CAN TALK ABOUT TRUMAN AFTER HIS NEW YEARS PARTY IN 1945
No, because you asked
Death of Stalin, start of Chak Law
Apparently I'm already a Dam in the middle east
Now I'm trying to think of some philosophical razors that apply to the discord server now
Chak's Law: Any discussion of WW2 that lasts more than 5 minutes quickly results in a Rule 2 break
Is that the law you would like your name applied to?
What about 1948 since thats when the last fighting in taiwan ended?
Or 49 i dont remember exactly
Also would line up with game end date
how about the 17th of july of 1949
Chak's Razor: Any attempt to modify Rule 2 will be cut before a chance of implementation
God forbid i give suggestions /j
smh I can't believe you're trying to do my job
take my money
Man if i got paid for this itd be like the world utopia meme fr
dark mode user tsk tsk tsk
I'll have you know I'm not using dark mode
You just act tough, youre really silly and nice actually (hot take)
How do you think they will approach the Indochina area? Possible premature independence of Vietnam and Laos?
Thanks
possibly release indochina as a colony of france like they did with congo
it is the farthest large colony from them
Why would vietnam and laos be separate, its prolly gonna be one big indochinese puppet

Good morning marijn
I’d imagine similar to the Congo. Just maybe good
Getting debuffs, shared focuses etc. I just hated how 80% of the Congo economic tree was tied to Belgium.
I agree on this but wouldn’t be surprised if you could go a route that fractures it
Similar to the Yugo one
Why did paradox even split Palestine, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon and Syria off? All they do is slow down the game
I only see it adding something if they have a proper focus tree like Congo
Good afternoon
So Iraq would have a snack
Yet it can’t even do Kuwait 😭
Or Lebanon
That would be nice, but i doubt they would be adding that much content to indochina
Elaborate
Cuz indochina was really interesting and has so many different opportunities
They already have a lot to do reworking china and japan
Not in the next dlc obviously🧐
The chances of them relasing 2 asian dlcs in succession are very dim
And they prolly wont come back to asia in a long time after thid
So they may just give indochina a mini tree or something
Or who knows they may give it the congo treatment
Tbh no
We already are getting 2
GoE is in india
Getting another content pack for SEA isnt that unlikely
After all there were like 7 or something european dlcs in a row
Only exception being ToA
hello Casey
Hi marko
Uhh not much just listening music wbu?
im good myself
i just wanna make IRL a new security company called MRM SECURITY
i wanna hire at first 19 people then another 190 then finally 19k guards
East asia and middle east/raj area are 2 very different parts of the world
europe is doing pretty good tho
theyre gonna space away any uk / france reworks till the year after probably since japan china is coming out (and in any case id imagine usa will get an update before uk and france)
i think a country pack with indochina, siam, and whatever else SEA countries is likely
im pretty sure raj was more important to the war against japan then the war against germany
iirc quite a few indians who hated the british actually worked with the japanese
Do y’all know when we can expect another dev diary? I feel like it’s been ages 😭
21st
add the skibidi update
Bruh
I agree with the country pack part, as it will probably be separate from the dlc which will cover china and japan
Im curious to see which countries they do cause id imagine thered be at least 3 or 4
Siam and indochina i think are definitely happening but idk what could fill the last slots
indonesia, siam , philiphenes
Think its gonna be between philipines, burma, and dei
maybe even malaya
Jordan and palestine exist as well
And burma
the only usefull country without a focus tree sorry
What about Australia and NZ?
They have focus trees
I dont get why people hate on them
because you can't annex half of the world with a single button
They hate those trees because they're old and feeble and cringe, unlike newer focus trees, which are young and strong and cringe
old focus trees are underrated
Depends IMO
New Zealand no
Australia yes
France is fun
Armored Car MIO for the win!
Though I wish Napoleonic France could core Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands and the Rhineland
And have more goals on Italy, Spain, and the ability to get its lost colonies back as claims
Together for victory
The first dlc
Heartbreaking
I wouldnt say malaya is particularly useful
why would they core it?
maybe wallonia but all the rest of the ppl will be pissed about the conquest on won't assimilate into french culture
Coring doesnt make sense anymore anyways
Iraq can literally core spain
Basically just a way for alt history paths to be fun
Otherwise as Afghanistan you would only be fighting with like 300k in manpower
doesn't mean it shouldn't make sense
like just cuz one poor design choice is made doesn't mean you should follow the same principle elsewhere
im just saying your point isnt relevant anymore
I mean following that logic you'd just give hitler germany cores to the urals and whatnot. In general cores should be quite limited and claims/state modifiers much better represent a lot of stuff.
its pretty fair that a reworked napoleonic france should be allowed to core those states or even better create puppet states
logic doesnt hold that much in hoi4 anyways
if poland can core all of russia and the southern slavic states
I mean puppet states/unique state modifiers is based and plausible, coring meanwhile only really makes sense for certain states
I agree with that, the question is wether it should try to or not
ideally it should but gameplay wise the coring mechanic is pretty necessary
eh... ppl can do world conquests as luxembourg without ever coring the benelux
but for the regulars who dont tryhard this game
im not talking for the small population who min/max the game
you can easily enough get manpower by puppeting/taking certain states (and yes I mean non cores)
i feel like we have strayed away from the original idea
will ireland ever get a focus tree?
Probably
All of europe will eventually get trees
I can’t remember if this was confirmed or not, but wasn’t there some alluding to Korea being added to the game later?
Yes
I just hope that we get proper border wars in Manchuria, with Manchuria acting as a proxy for the Kwantung army
u must have missed the resources
korea wasnt particularly submissive
taiwan maybe was but im pretty sure japan lost a couple prime ministers to korean assassins
didnt help they were being governed by the army
^
Malaya is the best country for the USA/USSR because Malaya has tons of Rubber, and you can basically trade for all the rubber you need with them. Similar to how you can get all the Tungsten you ever need from Turkey. When you’re playing as Malaya, they’re not useful, but they’re very useful for the Allies. Heck, all of Southeast Asia is great for the Allies just because it’s the source of 95% of all natural rubber on the map.
<@&846894118219022336>
Ty for your ping
np
it is in every chat
oh i see
makes sense, malaya, dei and siam are prob where all rubber comes from
i think turkey has the most chromium tho, not tungsten
is there a way to get docking rights in the south americas as sovjet union?
im struggling to naval invade them as sovjet union
Link you must defeat the evil forces of Gannon
-_-
Put spies and diplomatic pressure
And after a while they will get a boost to accept
And then you also improve relations
You have to have intel of over 50% and then wait for diplomatic pressure
It isn't instant
Oh I know. I'm just saying I like playing as loyal colonies and such
ah really? i prefer playing majors over anything
Is too late to leave diplo actions like alliances from focus tree?
Now it is very limiting and does not allow for the development of a realistic geopolitics
When the faction update coming out?
j
Aiit🤙
<@&846894118219022336>
I'm starting to believe that the Announcement at the end will be the reveal for the next DLC.
I feel thats pretty obvious
i dont think malaya
japan and whole china for sure
and i think siam also
the dutch east indies and phillipines maybe
I hope at least for phillipines
PDX should make hoi5 set in COLD WAR
now thats a load of bs
Hoi5 should add cold war mechanics (like nuclear deterrence and demilitarization), but it shouldn't be set only in the Cold War
if prdx wishes to make a cold war game (generally named a "nothing ever happens game") they should createa new IP as hoi isn't made for such style of gameplay
hoi is first and foremost about war and has always been. Everything in the game is a buildup to a war that will be the final goal of all countries
A cold war game, on the contrary, would be about avoiding war while gaining influence, except if you wish to follow into warno's steps or something
proxy wars could be a thing but it wouldnt be the main gameplay focus like HOI you'd hope
you'd need some other mechanics to make waiting actually fun
what happened with mexico man
Pretty much this, and also why I think RT56 is a bit of a waste
thats gonna be a separate country pack i say
for malaya, dutch east indies, phillipines and siam maybe
dlc will be china and japan
how do you know that it is only these countries?
i dont, i'm just predicting
maybe they'll include siam too
i think that it is a good prediction with another country pack
and yea siam is just special one
i don't know if they're gonna touch the usa
they probablt declare on usa like they always do on unhistorical
And why does britain have a piece then
no idea, is that rt56
I love rt56 for this one
hmmmm i didnt think about that, it can be because of the naval rework
usa is also very outdated and needs a rework
and because of the japanese-us naval battles
Ohh
yeah
jup just a whole new focus tree
a pacific war themed dlc would go hard
ill be sad cuz i rlly enjoy new zealand and australia
it can be a big chance that it can be this
yes but
that would be asking too much
but they dont have a good focus tree...
Wdym
Imo they do
Sure their alt hist paths are bad but they get pretty great research / buffs
Nk
No*
ok yea for research and buffs it is very good
And i dont like the (stat) bloat of new dlcs
Where theyre like your country needs a gazillion buffs
he means that it is to much work to give china, japan , australia and new zealand a new focus tree/rework
remember pre-nerf toa
A bit
it was crazy
😭
i dont remember the stats exactly but they completely forgot about balance
What about germany
I think italy rn is fine balance wise
But germany dear god
Most stats best mils
Best MIOs
aat was also pretty stat bloated
italy has one of the best focus trees in my opinion and it isnt TO powerful
Best generals
Trying to figure out what im doing irl rn im like an npc
omg same
I was like i need to go to store to buy food and now im just blanked out
germany has indeed OP buffs and even to insane but they were in general one of the strongest if not the strongest country in WW2
they're kinda too strong imo
Me when i lie and dont understand history
Germany mobilized all working men
While fighting they didnt have an industry basically
And while having an industry they had a well trained but small army
The game does not represent this whatsoever
they kinda do
but not enough
if you dont go to war mefo bills ruin you
No you get both stats and production
You dont have to sacrifice one for the other
from mefo bills
yea i know, there were periods that they mobilised a lot of men out of the factories, then back to the factories and then again mobilised
which fueled germanies millitary industry
That is construction not production
yeah
Im talking about production not construction
and i think that france is to weak in the game
Well now kind of but thats just because of how OP germany is
not really
they have one of the strongest armies at start
they just werent as moblized as germany
they were really strong in ww2 but because of blitzkrieg it doesnt seem like that
well yeah
yea but still, they had a very big army
they got outplayed
indeed
very big outdated army with backwards ww1 thinking
and the uk is good as it is because they were incompetent in the beginning
outdated but not to worse
french tanks weren't bad compared to german ones
some could even say they were better
but lack of communication
they were better in general
in the beginning of barbarossa, germany had a lot of tanks but those tanks were not great against soviet tanks
soviet tanks were better but germany built better tanks then later on in the war
a lot of airplanes but the lost a big number because of operation sealion i think
the battle for britain
in the air
also 80% of french tanks didnt have radios
lol i didnt know that
yeah
they were really uncoordinated
which is why they couldn't reply quick enough
how did they even communicate then lol
it also didn't help how slowly orders moved through high command
good old horses/bikes
physical letters
containing orders
