Interesting!
Could just see there being a Balkan Rework and a North African one. They tend to group by region
Id much rather have albania rather than switzerland
Sounds good!
Would be nice for North Africa to get content first though considering it was a big part of the war
True im afraid its not near
Well next expansion is Japan, China and Southeast Asia. So would be the one after most likely
I think balkans need it more
More than what
North afric
I mean Turkey, Bulgaria and Greece do have content
True
Yugo and Romania were updated in another I believe
Talking about countries...
My bet for the Expansion Pass 2:
Country pack DLC
- Indochina
- Ducth east
- British Malaia
- Siam
Expansion DLC
- Japan
- China
- Mongolia
- Korea
- Tibet
right
Don’t forget the phillipines
You forgot the Philippines alongside Burma…
(If they added burma to the game, they’re probably making a tree of it soon…)
Where is Tannu Tuva ?
🤨
PHI is possible, but it is also possible that they will do as with Finland and they will keep them. The Expansion Pass 3 will go over the allies, updating USA, and they could put them there...
Secret little focus tree?
do you think they will ever add content for ireland
If they do usa rework philiphines is natural
Im afraid not
anothere day, another time dreading coal mirco and having to open that forsaken menu to constantly trade for coal
South and Central america need more.
South america DLC isnt good
I would like an egypt palestine and syria dlc
africa needs a dlc asap
fr
like turn west africa into a “french west africa” puppet maybe
with tunisia and morocco being puppets aswell
If La Resistance ever gets integrated, the inevitable "France and French territories" DLC is going to go hard
Well, I have to constantly trade for aluminum and steel as the US as I made a bazillion factories. What's the difference when I have to also do coal as well
you have to do it even more
it should be over 1006 or over 9000
Probably be like 15 factories trading to coal to power a 1939 German level industry
If not less
It better be that or less
Tbh I think the Philippines is pretty likely.
Before an allies update
Back to the coal mines 😍
Aka HOI4
They call the next expansion HOI: Rising Sun bc it’s gonna make Shyy very heated 😆
We're all yearning for them mines 🔥
Will we get a new propaganda poster in the Agitprop as the Soviets?
More C O A L for the Motherland
truth
angry
Atleast the US should get propaganda. Ngl id buy a whole DLC that just gives majors the Soviet propaganda system
What’s wild is they answered questions day 1 of the diary and never again 😭
Nom nom coal
I fixed strasser to look less weird and changed Iraq Hashemite leader Abd al Ilah’s portrait to look more like a Hashemite Caliph
New Strasser kinda looks like a frog who's holding in a fart
Maybe consider changing that again...
Like in the original picture he actually is smiling like that but since you took the same photo and kinda closed his mouth it looks strange
I mean the source image is terrible and he looks like a cartoon rat looking for cheese. So will probably use a different image altogether 😂
Yeah prob for the best lol
Finally someone you can call a rat and its just accurate
Energy mechanics 💀
God forbid
I already have to deal with Army, Navy, Air, Special projects, Spies, Consumer goods and Resources
More mechanics? Really?
I'll just go and play Vic3 instead
Stop saying every day the same please....
Vicky have a lot of goods. HoI doesn't have horses, food... It's extremely simple in this aspect.
Study about war and you will underestand how important resources and logistics are. War is economy.
adding even more to micro isn’t good
never will be when the game already is very micro intensive
Anything that makes the map more interesting will make military operations more interesting.
Why Operation Fall Blau? Why Operation Chastise? Why did Japan invade Indochina? War is economy.
they already struggle with their eco, causing people to open that horrible menu and do trade, it’s already fine. i do not want to micro economics in my war sim. no matter “War is economy”. hoi needs to stick to its thing, not redoing industry
You can play 'War of tanks', always full of fuel.
thats the thing, fuel for ur war machine, not the industry
we have fuel for war machine, germany should struggle more and theyre adding that
japan struggles immensely
adding “industry fuel” is just insanely unnecessary other than the soft cap on scaling
which can be implemented in a way better way
than adding even more trade
if i wanted even more bs trade in a very very bs trade system, id go play bice with their insanely unnecessary trade, resource, and economy system
Trade, extract or conquer new coal-rich lands 😉
Energy is war machine, too. USA wins because the industry
so the whole game itself should revolve around coal bc make building go brr
yeah, they can nerf industry in many other ways other than adding another resource that directly effects buildings
the amount if balancing for each nation for it will be a lot
many minor nations would need even more civs just to keep up
meaning less army even later
resource energy isnt the way to nerf eco in hoi
hoi isnt a real life sim, it doesnt need to be 100% similar to actuality
Ok, you hate energy as a need for production. I like it.
Life goes on. This Thursday a new Dev Corner. Enjoy the life.
i will just simply move on to vic
bc atleast the economics in that game
isnt tedious and it isnt getting progressively more tedious
Ya reckon Mongolia will get a unique focus tree in the upcoming Asia dlc?
Hopefully
Mengkukuo is a collaborator state in order to claim mongolia after all, too
And mongolia was a part of pre warlord china
Bhutan, nepal and tibet too
It would make sense for paths to exist to re integrate them
Unfortunately it seems we all want a mega Asia dlc with new focus trees for 20+ different countries which we know as in fact Paradox won’t do due to profit margins and stuff
Eh
Not particularly
Statbloat on most new countries sucks i think
I think content would be cool tho
I dont care if its extensive
Hot take but i think iraq in GoE is really good for a minor power
Bloat and size wise in content
Doubt warlords will get as much content as other countries maybe just a small althist tree though not much you can do with them
Reckon probably japan, china, manchukuo, mengjiang, and prc (and warlords dlc in first half and a southeast asia countypack in the second half
When WAS the latest update anyway
alright
Again, people also lost their minds about the MTG fuel rework. And it was fine. Let’s wait for future diaries. 🙂
Bet Manchuko, People’s Republic, and Republican of China will get the main content, then warlords will get Paraguay/uruguay treatment
Think China and Japan will be updated and Southeast Asia will be a country pack
Or China will be its own country pack
i do believe that only manchukuo should have a monarchist path in china
mengjiang doesnt count
but technically this guy could be considered legitimate to the ming throne
this guy could also be a candidate for the empire of china since he was yuan shikais son
Like another apart from the Qing or just other claimants
Watch them add a Ming and Yuan dynasty route 😂
I make same bet (considering Tibet at the level of warlords, too)
And Korea? Similar to Belgium Congo. Crazy idea?
Would be neat if Korea got content
I mean the ming guy was close friends with puyi
And yuan keding(yuan shikais son) was very close friends with wang jingwei which they could do smthn with
Zhong Xina is the secret path
Very bing chilling
Would be cool but doubt. Adding some portraits is probably enough imo
Kinda like Israel/Sokoto ig
I think Korea should atleast get a civil war with the proper portraits
But the game ends at 1948 so idk
on another note i think africa needs more portraits
For the kingdoms and stuff
Portraits are cool
100%
Portraits add so much tbh
But paradox takes a while to make them. I think it takes them like 3-5 hours per portrait bc they do them
I would definitely pay for a portrait pack for original characters
Devs are talking about late game more since Gottendammerung
Post war content for majors would be an easy first step
Ik but how far would that post war content extend
Italy kinda has it with the civil war tree
If they added models for the F-86 Sabre I’d be hyped
And new transition from Allies to NATO
Definitely
Special Projects are a huge step into post war content imo
Would be neat if they had a post war scenario for if the axis won. Like a Cold War between Japan and Germany
man in the high c-
But it does make sense
Since they were merely allies of convenience
I dont see the axis lasting oast german victory though
They were a band of warmonger’s and had conflicting territorial goals
Same, feel like they’d potentially even fall apart before invading the US
If they signed a WP with US
👏🏻
With new factions dynamics they open a door to make diplomacy better
First at all, hopefully peace deals. With minors and regionals conflicts, it is necessary. Not all wars are extermination wars
Hopefully guarantees get a rework so uk wont be slapping it around to countries halfway across the world
Nice pfp
Love the 501st clone troopers
I think they want more limited wars or at the very least have some minor powers stay fighting minor powers
This one is slightly less aids
He kinda wore those hats a lot
New focus trees of minors goes in opossite direction of that 😅 There are more regional conflicts now. And another WW2 scenarios that demand more flexibily in peace deals
Much better
Can you upload it as a mod?
Not funny rat guy
Working on it! First mod I’ve made
If you need help, I have some experience with my mod about a commie USA: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2985220962
Oh I mean it’s created, I’m just adding stuff before an official public launch
I appreciate it!
Ok! Nice!
Day 4 of asking for romania to get decent coal and a rework (missed a day, forgive me  )
It’s Japan and China, try next year.
As long as oltenia gets like, at least 30 coal im satisfied until next update
We already dont got much steel if we get like 8 coal romania gets screwed
Its not even unrealistic, Oltenia has, and historically had large reserves of Huilă (idk the english name, but its 80-85% carbon content coal), and even a mine of Anthracite that functioned at the time
The coal there was used to supply most of the romanian industrial aparathus, including the steel mills in the Reșiţa-Haţeg area (part of Southern Transilvania in game) which were supplied with iron from the Poiana Ruscă Mountains (ex. Roșia Montană mine)
Keep calm, they are working on map resources. It's a good moment to balance and make world more accurate and challenger.
Btw, unless they fix Graveyard of Empires, I’d consider it in my lowest of priorities but only play it for no other reason so I can be Persia
im waiting for the final european dlc that'll update the following:
czechoslovakia reworked, romania reworked, yugoslavia reworked, greece reworked, france reworked, with albania as a new focus tree.
they will probably do some more with europe other than this
Greece is in BftB and I guess this DLC will remain as a country pack for ever.
But is not a crazy idea to integrate La Resistance to the base game in 2027-28 and make a final european DLC yes
the political tree of greece desperately needs an upgrade, despite BftB, the industry tree and military tree are good, but the political part is just downright bad compared to india and other trees now...
yeah greece pretty much got the short end of the stick for bftb
everything before nsb should just be integrated honestly
true
i could see uk also getting a rework at some point
i think that maybe next DLC in 2026 alongside USA Canada and Dominions.
the tree is good but its just doenst hold up to the rest
if the integrate mtg i could see them doing uk, dominion and ireland or usa
Totally. New democracy and politics/ideologies mechanics, content for allies...
But maybe 2027, not 26
politics are the least of my concerns
it maybe USA UK Ireland and Canada if they're doing a MTG integration, due to all of them technically being around the same area. African Rework maybe South Africa and african territories being released, or just North Africa being reworked with independent northern colonies, not sure though since HOI4 did release puppets of the middle east.
the ideologies work just fine rn
arabia dlc of morocco, tunisia, egypt, saudi, oman and yemen
i would wanna see ideology rework similar to TNO, Kaiserreich/Kaiserredux, and Great War Redux
too complicated icl the game should just stick with warfare
current ones work as they represent the core concepts
There are in roadmap. Normal...
Spanish anarquists and Russian monarchist are same ideology in game 😂
Geopolitics, alliances, factions... they are working on improve it.
i dont need 5 different ideogogies that work exactly the same
though i also wonder when the game engine is getting an overhaul (if it means hoi5 i'd pay for it, cuz it does not handle my pc well. 💀 [ryzen 5 5600g, 32gb ram, rtx 3060])
Agree. They need a new vision
Considering making a mod that changes the leader image upon achieving a formable nation. Think it would be cool if their graphics changed depending on that.
Would make non Ironman tho
What's wrong with the current alignment system
needs sub colors instead of the blue gray brown red, plus smth to show anarchist spain not being "authoritarian regime."
like, (im just posting this as example, don't mind me.)
this just makes complete sense showing from lesser extremes to full extremes.
was gonna post TNO color code but i realized it wasn't going to work due to server rules but
needs more diversity in what ideology the nation is, like USA coud be democratic but what kind of democratic?
There is no need for sub colors
There are 4 allignments
Democratic, Fascist, Communist, and Non aligned
even if non-aligned means anarchists are considered authoritarian?
You are either aligned with the democratic powers, fascist powers, communist powers, or none of them
Where does it day non aligned is authoritarian
It literally means not aligned with the other 3 big ideologies
anarchist spain on the political part.
Centrism is a democratic ideology that is in non alligned
Because they didn't ally themselves with the democratic powers
cough cough Finland, cough cough
and baltics, don't forget them
yes
i think so also
i forgot from memory
cuz they're led by franco, which transitions to fascism
But either way, no need to complicate the alignment system
estonia = despotic
+20, +10, or -10 opinion is fine for all that matters aside from rules
Interesting
it is, didn't expect it to be that way but yk, expect the unexpected
I would say that Kaiserreich's is better
it was the "calm before the storms" variant, but i do agree that kaiserreich's is better.
peci zorno
Ideologies in the game are too tied to foreign action.
In reality, geopolitics is more complex and everything is driven by particular interests.
Maybe with factions dynamics rework we have a better diplomatic tools and scenario
I dont really want diplomacy i just kinda want hoi4 to stay a war sim
Could use more complexity imo
Stellaris level diplomacy wouldnt be that bad
Maybe with less restricting wargoals
I dont agree
whats unique abt kaiserreich?
It splits its ideologies from alignments to actual ideologies like social conservative, national populist, etc.
So each subideology is an ideology
4 ideologies just seems a bit too simple. But it does get the job done
It’s funny that a military junta, anarchism, and monarchies are the same
And centrism
I agree it’s probably good enough, genuinely get lost every time a mod has 500 different ideologies that would be in reality all apart of the same party
Defintely don’t like having too many. But maybe 5-6 would be okay? 8+ is overwhelming
Though I think the game is intended to have 4 bc they serve base functions
Should be uploaded now as Logical Portraits
Thats raj
And i think non aligned like mariana islands or something
And idk who else
Day 5 of asking for romania to get decent coal and a rework
Finland
i think adding ways to end wars without capitulating every major is more important then ideology rework
but i wouldnt mind that either
they add a lot thematically
Both! Sadly Arheo said that there will not be peace deals like EU4, but he knows the problem and they are finding new ways
By the way...
❗ "Wake up, honey! New Dev Corner today!" ❗
More faction dynamics. Will we see more diplomatic options?
when part 2 of the dev diary coming its alr 3rd of july
Later today
Hey guys, which do you prefer #1 or #2? #1 Abdililah is wearing traditional Hashemite robes which would be historical while #2 is a more modern take.
definitely the second one
2
Thanks guys
You're an artist!
they posted the new faction stuff on yt
And Twitter
Korea
Will u be able to make your own factio ect with the default tech tree or will they remove it?
Governor-General of Chōsen?
Maybe
I wonder what will be next Dev Corner.
Maybe new DLC announcement and release date?
What are your predictions?
Probably between late October, November or early December depending on how big they make the dlc
next dlc gonna be peak
I do enjoy playing in Asia
which countries will it have
East asia and maybe south east asia
finaly japan
Like I wont be surprised if dutch east indies and british malaysia get a tree
out of it
I thought Southeast Asia would be the minor dlc
I’m curious what the focus tree for the warlords will be
I wonder, will alt-history factions such as central powers and stuff get their own pre-deteremined thing and how custom factions will work, also if britain switches ideo how their factions will work
Good feelings with the Dev Corner!! 🥰 No?
i seen potential korea, we need kim fatty the first path if that's so...
Probably wont be that expansive maybe for the interesting warlords like xinjiang, ma and guangxi would have something
That would be neat
Personally I want to see a rework for Manchuko
Either under Japan you get a “greater” Manchuria or as the Qing it’s just more fleshed out
not gonna look into hoi4 but this is why we may get anarchist path
That’d be interesting
Dont remind me of the etthiopian communist path
Whats wrong with it
If you end the war through normal whitepeace war escalation you dont become a puppet
But you can still steal the soviet generals
I was playing independant path
It was alright
I just got lucky in my run since uk turned communist
I just dont like playing ethiopia
Mengjiang not mentioned not very demchugdrongrub of paradox
We are getting Korea!?
Hopefully mongolia will get atleast some portraits
This update is looking Hella promising, one of the biggest vanilla Hoi4 problems has always been faction inconsistency
9th bogd khan
When we getting Guangdong 🔥
With all the 4 companies fighting for power 🔥
Battle of the dongs
Prince Dong Rub of Mengjiang vs Li Zongren in Guangdong (part of GXC) vs Bao Dai of Vietnam (currency is called dong)
Am I the only one who feel like these faction dev corners doesn’t seem that well thought out 🙄
would Chosen(Korea) have its own focuses and events is a TBA though
PDX did makee Syria and Jordan and other countries without any focuses (for a future DLC?)
I thought Korea was directly annexed and part of Japan when they invaded it?
Or is my math wrong
Did they have any government or Tokyo was the only authority?
Just call it an integrated puppet or whatever the Japanese puppet system has and you win
Would 100% be an achievement
As Korea, fight and capitulate a major power Finland
That would be so awesome lol
My bet is Expansion Pass 2 starting with the Country Pack (Indochina, etc) along patch adding energy, and big DLC in 2026 (with new diplo-factions tab, Japan, China, etc)
The problem is how the heck do you get Finland as a major aside from it making a faction leader
You would have to play non historical for a chance to get it
chance
Good question
It would make it such a rare achievement to get lol
Only the Chosen ones can get it
Ba dum psh
japan got the right flag POG
Based
they dont have that
its just like
imperial associate and imperial subject
iirc
but either way korea and taiwan were more like okinawa or iwo jima
part of japan but like outer parts that werent really treated with the same regard
korea in particular was governed by the army, unlike taiwan which was governed by the civilian government and so korea today harbors the similar kind of post colonial hatred that say, india does for the uk, or vietnam for france
Do you think Japan will have its own version of Reichskommissariats? For Asia and Oceania?
Japan used collaborators in real life to create legitimate governments; usually these were already anti colonial figures
Unlike the germans, their collaborators were more often than not not japanese
So possibly theyll get some events of/with collaborators but i doubt theyll have rks
^^^
japan, at least on the surface, was utilizing anti imperialist ideas to push western colonial empires out of east asia
the original point was for asia to be ruled by asians, but obviously the only way they could figure out how to be that strong was to become an empire themselves
altho the way they handled their empire seems unique to them, at least out of the big ones and certainly very different from the germans
They already have their own puppet system id like to see it implemented in a better way
:(
“It first made Korea a protectorate with the Japan–Korea Treaty of 1905, and then ruled the country indirectly through the Japanese resident-general of Korea. After forcing Emperor Gojong to abdicate in 1907, Japan then formally colonized Korea with the Japan–Korea Treaty of 1910. The territory was then administered by the governor-general of Chōsen, based in Keijō (Seoul), until the end of the colonial period.”
“However, the position was unique in among Japan's external possessions, as the governor-general had sweeping plenipotentiary powers, and the position also entailed judicial oversight and some legislative powers. As of 1944, the governor-general did not command the Imperial Japanese Army or Imperial Japanese Navy units stationed in Chōsen.”
There is already an occupation law called "military governor", there are also others they could have used such as "martial law", or "brutal oppression", heck they recently added a new occupation law to Belgium called "secretaries general", my main issue with this Government general Chosen is that this will cause lag and it could have been dealt with much easier, just make it so only democratic Japan or something can change the occupation law
It was
doed anyone know when the new factioin dynamics come out
Probably fall or winter
Day 6 of asking for romania to get decent coal and a rework
Feels like ive missed some days
A nice achievement could be to own every coal province as any Nordic country and have it referring to Santa
Nah it should be for turkey because saint nicholas was a turk🔥 🔥 🤜 💪 🇹🇷
Or maybe for denmark because there leader is basically santa
Oh yeah even better 🔥
As Denmark own all of your neighbors coal or smth
dont they have another achievement with like a lego santa or smthn
nah its just mr thorvald stauning
"You're on the naughty list"
Denmark world conquest sounds like pain 🔥
Or "You've been very naughty"
@vestal scaffold mod idea post update :3
who wanna play with us
Doctrines rework?
It says New Strategies. Who knows if that relates to coal and how AI will change to match that. Or if it’s naval/island reworks.
Because can be either of those or new faction goals. Or all three
so far away
Right?
Day 7 of asking for romania to get decent coal and a rework
Is it just me or was more stuff blacked out
Yeah more stuff was blacked out what the hell
Wonder what is coming in August ?
No
The post got longer
Lol
Imagine if one of the new strategies is the AI being able to paradrop
Need
That would be technically impressive and peak comedy
Since lsst update ai germany does make paras
They use it to get river crossing bonus on Belgium
Youd use marines for that not paras
No, it is to paradrop that fort
That raid requires paratroopers
When successful, it gives the Germans less river penalty
Like 35% or something
So if you had marines you'd probably be stronger attacking over a river
Larp
Swore it gave river crossing bonus
No entrenchment for Belgium
oh prob but its still larp
No like some of the words were actually blacked out, compare the last 4
and some revealed
it isnt a big change
literally no
But yes
youre attacking from the wrong side
so youll be slower
also paratroopers suck damn
just did a bahamas game where i tried to use paras instead of marines and theyre awful
I think Brussels gets effected by it at least
The paratroopers don't even drop on the tile
They stay at the air base and give bonuses after the raid is done
Also they have other raids they can do
Look at the numbers
Everything besides oil raid is larp 👀
You want to see pure larp?
Nah i think its cool but not worth focusing on
Besides rp
This is a UK raid
Me and the boys blowing up a prison to strengthen the French Resistance
I originally thought it was the time a Mosquito dropped a French flag in Paris to boost morale
But nah, this was an actual military operation
I am really angry regarding Greek achievements for Byzantine empire, as
A. Romania guarantees Turkey and then eventually joins the allies
B. Romania guarantees turkey, flips fascist then joins the axis
C. I wait until the Romanian guarantee goes away and then which Turkey is guaranteed by both Germany and the allies.
Just like the last time I had a rant regarding guarantees, can someone please explain in the why Romania would care about Turkey in ww2?
Just play non historical
Balkan Pact
romania, yugo, greece, turkiyë
When I've done this, I've never had issues taking out Romania as Greece
Once you take out Turkey, you quickly naval invade Romania
usually enough of them leave the pact
and if yugoslavia goes down either path it either dissolves/loses land or cancels the guarantees
romania will do that eventually
and if youre playing as greece you can manually un-guarantee
What's the point of unguaranteeing a country
You can just go to war even if you have a guarantee on them
Pretty sure at least
i think you can but then you lose stability and war support and increase tension more
maybe thats EU4
Way more stuff was yeah
I got a theory
you see the final 2 things
so my theory is that where it says next it's something like "What's next?"
and maybe the thing under is Hearts of Iron V Announcement??'
but... EU5 is announcement in may
but there are different teams for each games I think
itd be kinda strange if they announced hoi5 while making new content for hoi4 no?
I genuinely believe HOI4 has a few more years of development lol.
Where did you get this?
Yes, Expansion Pass 2 in 2025/26, Expansion Pass 3 (allies, democracy, etc) in 2026/27. Then probably country packs finishing HoI4 era.
i would perfer if they added like cold war in hoi4 like 1936 and 1989 scenarios 1950(cold war) scenarios
Dont think hoi4 would be good for that
Youd need significantly more complex management and diplomacy elements for a cold war game
Hoi4 simplifies a lot of those in favor of combat
Hoi4 (and hoi in general) is just meant to be ww2 spreadsheet combat game and not really too economic or diplomatic so cold war really wouldnt work
Sounds hard to put cold war into a game since it sounds kind of boring tbh
They did say they wanted to add later content
Would be kinda nice to have focuses locked behind years so some would activate in the 50’s
Like Cold War content opens up around 1948 and goes to 1958 or something
Yea like that would love it
Logically could make it happen especially with new faction content. Maybe content direction shifts around 1948
Hoi5 is coming out when hoi4 dies
i think it would be cool if ww3 was possible
like idk add trees for germany where they just keep trying or something lmfao
Updated a couple of the French monarchs for my mod so that they match their roles better
Napoleons is a mix of these two along with a Kepi/Turtleneck to make it more modern 🙂
Tbh thats just a map mod I downloaded overwriting it
ah didn't know
Yeah my bad
Idk if I’d do a flag mod but there are some good ones out there
New game annoucement maybe?
Prob new DLC announcement
Like a Japan DLC maybe
Hoi5 isnt coming in another 5 years guys
is it just me or does communist britain just go to civil war in most games now?
Noo!
- Dev Corners (we are here)
- Announcement EP2
- Dev diaries first DLC of EP2
we need HOI5
Why tho
But that wont happen
Its a ww2 series
Hoi5 would be ww2
we actually need a update or DLC to remake old focus trees
anyways
i wonder what the asian dlc will add
HoI5 will be a great oportunity to build some systems fine from the cements.
But, repeat, we're not at this moment.
besdies the focus tree
Yes exactly how i feel
Its great for restarting but everyone seems to be like 'we NEED hoi5 for the COLD WAR and NOW'
Which is like just not how it works
Hoi5 brainrot
About cold war, I don't really like the idea of extended WWII to cold war, think about it:
-1: We need to somehow give winners of WWII a reason to not overrun other side in 1 month, this will lead us to something like Sino-Japanese war debuff, and it is not a great design.
-2: Rescale economy growth overtime, so that to win WWII in certain time, you need more contribution from more countries and distributing spoils equally, bring after war status to a more stable and balance conditions.
Well there could be a final focus called cold war locked behond until the X year starts where and after that focus is activate all ww2 focus disapear making way for cold war focuses with new debuffs getting added to countrys ect
Pillars of fortune
This ONLY makes sense if everyone plays near perfectly historically
Which doesnt happen
Regardless its a ww2 series of games
Hmm true
Kinda out of the loop, why did they make this change?
In the past, we haven't been able to take recordings for rule breaking content, which made moderation more difficult because its a bit harder to take action off things we aren't allowed to
That message is to notify everyone that we have changed this ruling and to give everyone a heads up regarding it to ensure that they are aware it may happen
This is so that you know your rights, and that we can take action on rule-breaks more effectively
Ahh, thanks for the answer
Hey Chak is this for workshop mods, this discord, or what?
this is for the server specifically
we already regulate the workshop mods as best we can and there is an EULA you have to abide by for them, but the server never had the legal statement before, so we've implemented it
Useless crap
Doesn't apply to other websites no?
I bought the game i mod the game 😎
You are free to mod the game however you like, but if you are publishing your mod there are legal ramifications if you break the EULA of the game, but I don't enforce that part, it'd be someone way higher than me
Yeah but that's apart of the EULA on steam no?
Yes but I'm wondering how it works with other websites
There are websites that allow anonymous postings of mods that cannot be removed
yes/no, PDX as a company can issue a takedown if they do not want it
According to who? Who's enforcing it on a site outside of their jurisdiction
because its still their IP
The website isn't possible to take down
Because it operates without any direct contact
You post on there and its there forever
if you are distributing it to other people then yes its going to fall under the PDX EULA regardless of platform
I know that but I'm asking how is it enforced
there are ways to take things like that down but again, I'm not the legal team
If pdx doesnt want it though and are in the process of taking something down or cannot just yet, then we can limit their usage here in their spaces
Well the website cant be taken down and the contents cant either
The website has 100s of mods for tons of games that get taken down or removed
I only make mods for myself so I'm just wondering how it works
from what i understand (chak has more knowledge) the website is given a warning to take down the content/creator and if they dont do so, then the website could be sued/taken down
Could be wrong*
that is a very simplified way of breaking it down, but not incorrect
Yes but the website literally can't act on that notice and nothing could be done if they didnt
a website is run by people, the people can be sued/issued a notice
if that fails, the website could be banned from PDX spaces for failing to adhere to said notice
Pretty sure the website is hosted in a country that doesn't give a crap about western legal agreements anyway
but that is like, the least legal way I can explain it because I am not our legal team aha
Hey chak quick question is ippi’s path under golden emir path supposed to have elections ?
Afghanistan
I doubt vladislav from dagestan will comply
uhhhh I forget, is that the fascist or commie path
It’s fascist part that was added recently
if its either of them, and is stil ltrying to do elections I'd think a bug report would be in order
Send him dagestan 2 3 year forget
most likely a bug, make sure to report it
if its indeed fascist, but I haven't read each focus individually so cannot be fully sure
Awesome, will do. Also if you could please ask the design team to add a way to integrate your Islamic faction members for caliphate path. Sort of like the EU for Europe as logically and historically it would make more sense
*peacefully
How has the paradox life been Chak? Feel like you’ve been super busy lately with all the posts
I'm doing more of the front-facing stuff at the moment, hence why you see it a lot more.
Typing up all the dev corners and formatting them so they look good takes a bit of time but its not that difficult for me. Outside of that I just been busy with other work stuff so been mostly away, ontop of IRL stuff too
PDX life is doing just fine
That’s good, figured it would be like that! Hope they let you out of the salt mine occasionally to enjoy the nice weather 😂
nice weather? its 30 degrees and pouring rain here
I'm good not having that weather anywhere near me lmao
Day 9 of asking for romania to get decent coal and a rework (i went to sleep early tmr and i forgot, i hadnt slept the night before)
(Forgive me brothers)
romania is not the priority
Ik
But
Small nation
Easy to work on
And im doing this for fun lol
Question: what would you like to see in a romania rework
For me is definitely more generals and the ability to core parts of ukraine like they gained historically
Bird
Oh where do i start
I have an entire focus tree meticulously planned in mind that is based upon ths intriguing history of modern romania
Ive been thinking of genuenly beggining to mod to make it into smth
But as to what I would want to see:
- a revamped monarchist path, the one rn is just so painfully innacurate it cringes me out when I play. We could even have multiple monarchist paths, one where we focus on the actual royal family and some others where we empower local noble families
Imagine you could have 1 focus changed what would it be
Just 1 focus?
1 focus
Considering the state of the romanian focus tree right now...
At the end of the monarchist tree, a focus called something like
"Reinstating the Ententes Promises"
Which grants cores on West Banat ( Pancevo could be renamed to Panciova)c, Tisza (could be renamed to Tisa, Debrecen could be renamed to Debreţin)
This is the most historically accurate option for a coring focus as its based on the ententes promises following the Treaty of Bucharest in august 1916
Broski was waiting his entire life for someone to ask him this question
It could also be a more nationalistic idea oriented focus like "Reclaiming the Old Provinces" where alongside the mentioned cores we could add in Ruthenia (which could be renamed into North Maramureş/ Maramureş, and for Mucacevo to be renamed to Muncaci, and Užhorod be renamed to Ujhorod) and maybe even the Transnistrian Provinces in Ukraine (Odessa becomes Odesa, Balta-Tiraspol becomes, well, remains same ig, and Vinnytsia also remains same cause IRL we stopped halfway through it)
Literally
Well it is like 4 focuses rn so definitely
You think they would to a romania hungary union
That was proposed and to be ruled by the hohenzollern sigmaren house
As much as it is an intresting concept it was purely theoretical, and any hopes of it shattered when the Romanian-Hungarian war started right after the Treaty of Versailles
But
I could see it added
If i really were to want smth monarchist
Id love a secret path where we put the Cantacuzino as monarchs, these people claim Byzantine heritagr
Romania should be able to core some of ukraine like they got historically
Romanian-Centered byzantium sounds like a weed trip ngl
Is this the schizo fourth rome path?
Wheres schizo dacian path
Could be one of them
hm
Didnt the last communist romanian leader guy claim dacian hertiage or smthn
Maybe a fascist guy for that one
It was claimed long before by nationalists
Hell one of our patriotic songs mentions it in the 1880s
The fascist romanian anthem even mentions dacian blood
Honestly, we could have a path where we prevent Codreanu's execution
Schizo dacian path
Its already possible in game if you become fascist before the event
And it leads into schitzo dacian path
He was mogging icl
Nah, romanian reichskommisariat path.
Radu Korne as leader
Trust.
I bet 99% of yall dont know who he was
Some army guy
He served in both the romanian army and the SS
Did he switch after romania switched sides
He did earlier i believe
When Horia Sima and Ion Antonescu had a conflict and Horia Sima attempted to overthrow the Marshalls government
And then they fled to nazi germany to gather support
Cant mike become leader of democratic romania?
Yeh
Ehhh?
Democratic kings are kinda weird
Id rather Iuliu Maniu become an option
Italy and yugoslavia can do it im oretty sure
He was actually important
Its kinda weird though
Mf has some crazy lore outside ww2 too
Democratic kings dont make much sense
Yeah ik
Something to do with transylvania
I think you can even have Micheal I as the communist leader using the switch sides optiond
The switch sides thing should just be its own tree not connected to political
He was the president of the provisional transilvanian republic, had his family kidnapped by hungarians during the Hungarian-Romanian war, founded the National Peasants Party
Which was like, a big contender to the PNL
Crazy lore
Before the fascist coup he was an integral opposer of Carol II
They should also change the flag of non aligned romania
He asked parliament for his deposition, however the parliament felt it wouldve caused massive scandal and mightve enpowered the fascists
Isnt it the monarchist flag?
Makes sense considering in game the Non-Aligned path is led by Carol II 99% of the time
Hm
I havent played much on the newest version
Didnt notice
I am sure the old one is just the royal flag
Idk if they changed it
But yeah that doesnt make much sense
Even the communist path could be done great
There are a multitude of reasons for which romania adopted an incredibly anti-communist stance in the interwar
So what would be your idea for communist tree
2 paths, the normal one where you like, side with the ussr and maybe become an independent SSR.
Another one where you rely on the exiled communists, which are Trotskyists
The 2nd one could have Gheorghe Cristescu as the leader
"The man with the red neck-tie"
Union of romanian russian soviet spcialist republics
A fun fact about christescu is he predicted mans arrival on the moon in 1905
However he also claimed the global victory of socialism
Intresting guy ngl
Outside of his communist circle he was called "Plăpumarul" tho, which i dont even know what meaning it has
Cause translated into english its smth like
"The Blanketer"
Plăpumarul sounds funny tho
funneh
How about a democratic path
Probably something with the little entente or balkan pact
Iuliu Maniu would be the obvious democratic path choice
I believe the little entente should be a starting alliance and dissolve in 1938
Who would be leader?
Its complicated
Its not as much of an alliance as a list of treaties and guarantees
At least not in the Hoi4 faction sense
hm
Its fine how it is rn, through focuses it can be formalised into a faction
Romania can do it too, but its called "Cordon Sanitaire" which was the romanian version of the Intermarium idea
Intermarium was such an interesting idea
Too bad the intermarium tree for poland is like
Separate
You just need to get the lands to make it
Somehow
Im thinking of possible alternate democratic paths
But tbh
There isnt much room for expansion
Iuliu Maniu is the clear candidate
The fascist one tho?
Oh boy
People forget the Iron Guard was a coalition of Multiple fascist parties
To dumb it down
National christian party or smthn
The parties which were in it were:
Legiunea Arhanghelului Mihail (Archangel Micheals Legion) - led by Nicolae Pausescu, then Corneliu Zelea Codreanu (The captain), then his Father
Partidul Național Creştin (founded 1935) by merge between Liga Apărării Naționale Creştine (leage of national christian defense) led by A.C Cuza (in game advisor) and Partidul Național Agrar (National Agrarian Party) - led by Octavian Goga
And some more i forgot
A.C Cuza could be such a cool alt-monarchy path
Hes related to A.I Cuza, the guy who united the principalities in 1859
Best candidate for a local romanian royal house
Nvm the Iron Guard was a party coalition, but only one party joined it (AML)
(Archangel Micheals legion)
And then the Iron Guard formed a secondary party (Totul pentru Ţară - All for the Nation) under Gheorghe "Zizi" Cantacuzino
(The guy with the byzantine descent)
Wasnt his family also princes of wallachia?
At some point yes
Schizo wallachia path to become ottomans
☹️
Nvm good news
We also have Alexandru Cantacuzino
Which was born in 1901 and was executed in 1939
Leading member of the Iron Guard
😃
Gheorghe wouldve been much more fun to develop tho
Wallachia is revived
General Berthelot stated "He is a man to be arrested in peace and be let free in war"
Romanian-Byzantine-Ottoman world conquest potential
In 1918 following the treaty, he literally resigned saying "The treaty is incompatible with the honour of a soldier"
And was granted General rank in Reserves
Alexander Cantacuzino is also intresting
He was commander of the "Moţa-Marin corps"
The group of volunteers that helped the nationalists in the Spanish Civil war
A romanian spanish alliance seems sorta plausible
Half the legionary propaganda is based on the death of Moţa and Marin at Majadahonda
Anyways enough history autism for the day on my part
I will return tommorow.
Alr
Ngl I’d probably rather see France, Ireland, or North Africa get a rework before Romania
Do we know if the new dlc will affect factions from former dlcs?
I dont mind either one
I do believe there should be a uk rework with commonwealth and ireland
I dont understand the question
Will for example, the norden league, the central powers or the EU have a predetermined faction task stuff
Some features will be free and that is likely to be free
usually the really influental features are free
like the supply rework from no step back
Do you guys think the new naval update would make Man the guns an integrated DLC? Is it worth to buy now?
I dont think mtg will get integrated, the naval update, at least the one from the dev corner, just adds a home port and changes supremacy and the airbase thing
Well I hope so
Hashemite's my beloved ❤️
Wow
Too bad no one in iraq liked the guy
Does anyone in Iraq like anyone tho 😂
Day 10 of asking for romania to get decent coal and a rework
🤷♂️
We don’t really know what the coal stats will be yet. I’d guess a decent idea would be referring to HOI2’s coal charts though
Oh damn I thought this was general chat mb
I want it to be enough to sustain like
25 civ factories
Thats it
After that i guess we can supplement with oil
Do we know yet if oil can supplement? They didn’t really answer that in the first dev diary about coal
Come to think of it, they didn’t answer anything on the last dev corner either. The dev said they unavailable for the first day but then just never replied. 😔
so how will the factions work after the changes?
#latest-updates message
Doctrines rework was my bet and matches with the letters visible on July 29
First 2 of June 18th sounds like what I had to study for physics in high school 🙏
Or it’s the reveal ?
read the dev corner
send link
its in the hoi news channel
When was coal added Into the game ?
In some dev version, it's not yet accessible to players, will be coming next major update/dlc
Thanks!
Wonder if they will answer this thread? 😔
Is this the latest faction one?
The current dev corner vlogs are a update for the factories from what i saw right?
Yes
Updated Karl Pius von Habsburg for my mod Logical Portraits. Changed him out of the church robes into something more militaristic
Hopefully before the next one comes out of the 29th
I have a feeling that’s not the case
Changed from the 10th to the 29th
I’m guessing they want to smooth things out before they show the community stuff since they didn’t have many answers to the other posts and probably want to avoid confusion
Ig it works
Next you should change xaviers portrait
Where do you read this?
Why did they kill him so brutally man.
Day 1 of asking for democratic Russia.
July hollidays
Wonder how big the announcement will be
tannu tuva dlc
Think it’ll just be faction dynamics again
possible
it was a split off state from china just like mongolia
Esoteric Tannu Tuva path
Cores all of Siberia east of the Urals
Calls the nation "China 2"
Nobody understands any of it
its most likely just going to be japan china and siam tbh
we and i mean WE would love french indochina philippines and dutch east indies content but it seems very unlikely atp
day 11 of asking for romania to get decent coal and a rework (ive missed too many)
(God help me)
developers give me the ability to see my claims & cores in this tab and my wallet is yours
bhutan focus tree
The thunder dragon empire shall rise
And reclaim its title
Day 2 of asking for democratic Russia.
“Democratic”
Press the compliance or resistance button for cores
Just play supreme soviet at that point
i think he means on the entire world so if you need cores for an achievement you can see which states you need directly
Most tame road to 56 rp experience
The Germans couldn’t take Kiev for literally 4 years so they got the British to join
Then they started a line nuking program

oh shoot really?
I have always done that
its not the same as the mapmode of mods such as kaiserredux, that show very clearly also claims, on top of cores. The compliance and resistance mapmodes are innacurate when you core a land that was previously occupied. there remains technically resistance for a while, even if you can use all manpower and factories
I mean it’s better than nothing, and god, I love the kx claim/cores map
same here, its just perfect
How can I turn facist Italy democratic without a civial war?
Use the far right path where you restore the absolute monarchy but do the focus "revoke the Acerbo laws"
can you send a pic or describe where i can find this more? it is in Focus tree correct?
Either do the Democratic King focus or the Christian Democracy focus
is it a DLC?
yes by blood alone
i dont play without dlcs so i wouldnt know sorry
ok i played a little with no dlcs and it is possible. when you get the democratic reformer you get new decisions in the "Democracy on the Rise" in here you can boost democracy support and get a referendum once democracy is over 50% but DO NOT do the decision "Prepare for civil war" and eventually you'll turn democratic without a civil war.
ok thank you
Absolute Monarchy is Power to the King
Democratic King keeps the King as leader
Revoke Aercbo Law makes King a national spirit
i know but i used it as the place to look next to and get the connotational monarchy instead
i encountered a bug
idk how it happened
i got tired of clicking i couldve done like a few hundred more prob
theres only 3 missile sites in the state
Day 3 of asking for democratic Russia
Should have done that 4 years ago
because thats when NSB was being developed
Are there any source that proves a Japan update?
the dev corners?
they state they are focusing on japan and china
Dev corners, one of them literally says something like
Its no secret that the next major DLC will focus on Japan China and Southeast Asia
Paraphrasing ofc because I cant be bothered to open the corner and get the actual quote
Where r the mods when u need them most
<@&846894118219022336>
Ping them
Others already pinged my ping isnt gonna do anything
I'm thinking... If they integrate (maybe next year) Man the Guns into the base game, HoI 4 without DLCs would have a lot of content of a fantasious Second American Civil War but no content of real Spanish Civil War 🤣
I would say that base game SCW is nicer than LaR for one reason
Unplanned Offensive doesn't exist without DLC
only for spain
Would like a new SCW
Get the mod that turns every state in the world into that
Drop hoi5 atp
Day 5 of asking for democratic Russia.
ngl if soviet states get a rework, i got a gut feeling HOI4 may add a shared focus tree for each soviet republic 🤔
Hoi5 my ass
Cut content update would be 😱
Honestly what would democratic russia even be
Road to 56 makes you release Ukraine/Belarus as puppets
Honestly Id not be surprised if they would come to a similar idea of releasing some regions
Supreme soviet is already a pseudo democracy
And you can do that in the alt communist path
So i dont see the need for a democratic russia unless they want to revisit nsb
boring
if I join Allies will my subjects get called into war?
cuz im currently using them as shield
and would be pretty bad if they get called in
however I need help with crushing the germans when i get attack by soviet
No only u can call em into war
Could be interesting if it focused on creating another democratic block with Middleastern/Asian powers with expansionism into eastern Europe. Maybe to contain fascism so would still fight Germany and Japan. But ultimately be separate than the Allies and eventually fight them
<@&846894118219022336>
what in the belgium
Won't be. Democracy in russia is impossible
Russias almost never had a democratic government before
Maybe at like a few points in time but it never lasted long
Day one of asking for more generals for the beaten but not defeated path
Who pinged me
Is ok
especially admirals
mikhail kedrov can definitely be a candidate as he lived til 45
Dmitry Verderevsky who died in 47
although he wasnt involved in te white movement
Mikhail Ivanovich Smirnov died in 1940
Georgy Karlovich Stark died in 1950
i should probably post these on forums if it even does anything
Nikolai Ivanovich Chernilovsky-Sokol died in 1936 so possible candidate
Vasily Aleksandrovich Merkushov died in 1949
sergei Vladimirovich Evdokimov died in 1960 nyc at 88 years old
anyways add white russian admirals autism search over
honestly i would love to see just a soviet portrait pack
same
It's possible. Sweden, a country that has a history of aggression, has also become a successful democratic country. Similarly, Germany, which was a militant country in the past, has also become a successful democracy. Therefore, if Russia removes its current leadership, it can also become a democratic country.
I won't start a political discussion here. I understand your reasoning, but I have reasons not to agree
Reasoning for "Russian democracy is impossible" is generally limited to anti-Russian racism in my experience
"a commercially successful nuclear fusion reactor has never been made so it's not possible"
There is some flawed logic here
We might see a democratic russia at some point vut the fact is that democracy in russia has never lasted that long
Yes, that is a fact
Im not trying to support the claim that democracy in russia is impossible im just stating the facts
And a democratic path 😜
Historically it was emerging before WW1 and Kaiserreich does a good job portraying its potential so why not
1992-2000 was an attempt at democracy
Also Kaiserreich Russia I swear almost always goes to Savinkov
There just aren't any strong democratic institutions in Russia and those take a long time to develop, but very easy to weaken
If Kaiserreich had a historical mode, Savinkov would likely be the historical path, yes - HOI4 needs countries that do things to start a big conflict, and he's the guy for it
But I agree, Democratic Russia would be funny, even if it wouldn't change much about the conflict on historical
It is true that democracy never lasted long there. This is the reason why I say it is "impossible". Just because I don't have time to make a long explanation
IMO, russian democracy ended right in 1993, with shooting on White House in Moscow
its very evident that democracy in russia is hard to be obtained from past attempts
That is true
honestly it makes sense
It is really hard to "stand up" for it
for such a big country you would need more authoritarian styles of government just to be able to countrol it
So this is just racism then
Lots of judgements on how Russians are inferior and less developed etc
USA:
Canada:
USA has triple the population and also a huge landmass yet has democracy
Yeah
On it
I can imagine a British official in the 19th century saying similar things about Africa tbh
