Finland has infantry on steroids you dont even need to build tanks, but i'd watch a guide on youtube because the initial winter war with the soviets is a bit difficult to defend, you just have to take leningrad and hold it for 30 days to get a peace event, then you can build up easily and dunk on stalin, you can also core norway and sweden i think

On flame tanks dont pay attention to the reliability, just try to increase the breakthrough, like 3 man turret, flamethrower maybe through in a couple of extra ammo storage, for the spg it's just 3 man turret, howitzer, radio, couple of heavy MGs, and adjust engine / suspension however fast you want the division it's in to go, i do care about reliability so sometimes i add wet ammo storage but if you're looking for "meta" as long as you're not fighting in low supply areas where your tanks attrition it shouldn't be a problem

in multiplayer you're going to need very different templates and designs because you're playing actual humans

The Spanish Civil War in unmodded HOI4 is a pain, I tried to win the war as Carlist Spain. I prefer the Russian and German civil wars over it. The German one is super easy without cheesing it if you battle plan it properly while the Russian one is easy but drags on for a long time in which you might get Steamrolled by the Germans afterwards.

Medium tanks are a good all rounder, heavy tanks are good for multiplayer or for breaking through heavily fortified positions.

If you lose, then try again, maybe watch a tutorial, see why you lost, was it because you got navel invaded? Is it because you didn't have enough divsions? Is it because your divsions were not properly equipped? Is it just simply because you couldn't push them? Etc.. And then learn how to fix that issue.
