The Sherman was a decent tank and performed well as infantry support.

Its anti tank capabilities decreased as the war progressed, but the 76mm helped with that aspect. Some crews preferred the 75mm because of its HE shell. The firefly also provided some much needed anti tank capabilities before the 76mm could be made in high enough numbers

People tend to forget that tanks often fight a lot of infantry and do not fight other tanks often. The Sherman was a reliable tank that provided some much appreciated support for the infantry
