well, not a good idea to go on the offense with regular infantry usually, the best way to attack is to lets say assign an army of infantry across the frontline, give them an offensive line and dont initiate the plan, just have it as a ghost plan to give them planning bonus

then lets say you have 12 armoured divisions of tanks or self propelled howitzer guns, you want to also do the same thing and micro them on train tracks towards supply hubs, or just initiate the plan if you dont feel confident in microing much, the tanks will advance, when the frontline shifts your infantry will move in and fill the gaps

that's usually the best way to attack
