you have to hold onto certain outer cities (vps) for a bit

its usually told in said missions in your decision screen

don't setup your Frontlines on your starting lines. fall back and set a fall back line on mountains and other defendable tiles, that are also further back from the Italian supply lines. they'll simply be unable to push you back

then you can go with any of the paths, you have few options to get peace
