heavily recommend running Calvary spam with mountaineer recons and joining the allies later into the game or smth (assuming you dont join the united front, which I didnt), the leader for kumul gets some great division and Calvary buffs, also you can grab the mounted infantry and field engineering sub-doctrines for more bonuses to hold out against the Kuomintang and the Japanese.

If you invest everything into strat bombing and ditch CAS completely, then go with Strategic Bombers.
Because Strat Bombers have better Strat bombing stats a very high range.
Otherwise Tactical bombers are kind of nice when you lack the plane DLC.
They have nice range thus they are kind of good in Siberia and South America, if you still want to have some CAS/support your army.
