Guys, literally all you need in singleplayer is a light cruiser with maxed out armor and max out medium light canons. Just spam that and death stack your fleets. (This is for majors though btw)

if you are running the game on a toaster one thing that helps a lot is to lower/turn off the visual settings(go into setting and there's a bunch of boxes you can uncheck)
