step 1: turn off all antivirus you have
step2: go to the properties page of hoi4 and go to 1.10.8 collie beta
step3: launch said beta
step4:load a nation just to make sure it works
step5: close hoi4 and revert back to barborossa
rest of the steps are only if your using mods
step6:have the launcher open and uninstall the mod from the steam workshop then reinstall it

It's quite a direct message. And it generally fixes it without needing to do uninstalling

The No Step Back DLC is somewhat integrated into base game; it adds in a lot of things but buying the DLC completes the whole package. Basically, no.

You can't turn it off.

It's not worth turning No Step Back off, because it still keeps supply in the game, and just takes all the fun stuff out.

So my HOI4 game wont let me play; like it allows me to click on a country but when I go to start the game it just crashes. Ive fresh reinstalled my game, deleted all my mods, fully deleted and reinstalled the launcher files, validated files and none of that has worked

validate file integrity in Steam by right clicking and going to properties. Then run the game as administrator by right clicking and selecting run as admin on the games shortcut. If that doesnt work start removing mods until you find the mod that is causing an issue the most recent update has broken some.

Then find "mod" Folder
If it is not there then create one, naming it "mods"
Remember to place extracted files in it
In simple words you should place your mods in this folder
Then find "dlc_load.json" file, for than delete every word present there.
Paste this after that :

Hello! I deleted Hoi 4 for around a year, and now I can't use the mods I had downloaded (Primarily Kaiserreich and Road to 66), it says I am missing a descriptor file, and I have searched the problem up, and have tried guides, but they dont work.

@pure lava There was a pretty big update that made all previous mods that altered the game dramatically to be rendered useless. This could be the issue. The mods are no longer compatible with the new update. Maybe try reverting your game to the version the mod runs on. Keep me posted! ❤️

Open Avast.

Click the Menu in the top-right.

Click Settings.

Click Exceptions under the General tab.

Click Add Exception, and click Browse.

Navigate through the file tree to find the folder: "C:/Users/<UserName>/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive"

Check that folder, and click OK.

Click "Add Exception" to add it to the list. You should now see it underneath the exceptions.

If you hover over it and click the pencil-shaped icon to edit it, it will show you the exception types: "Apply to all scans, Apply to Behavior Shield, Apply to File Shield" all three should be checked green. That last part is what it meant by add the launcher in all its exceptions
