Hi, I would like some help, I bought a DLC key for Hearts of Iron IV No Step Back, and no matter how many times I entered the key into steam, it prevented me from clicking the "next" button to install and I could only click the finish button, which resulted in the error "Steam client failed to install the game (application configuration is not available)" I cleared the cache, changed the download area, restarted the entire steam, verified the game's intengrity. When I open the library I don't have it and when I look in the steam store to find the DLC it shows me that I don't own it and that I can purchase it. HOI4 refuses to use all of my processor and GPU, then runs at 20 FPS (or atleast feels like it). How is this fixable? I increased priority in the task manager but it didnt help.

It maxes one of the cores then leaves the rest on 50%.

On the GPU it doesn't even use 40%, but it lags.

I mean the GPU hasnt even reached 70 celsius and when it maxes out it runs at 91.

While time isn't going it runs at a good old 60 FPS with Vsync on.

Playing over LAN with someone and as Turkey and USSR and from late 42 / early 43 we started getting desync every 2-3 weeks.
We tried reinstalling the game, clearing the cache, lowering all graphics, with or without internet (disconnecting internet wire from switch literally), trying either as host, rehosting or rebooting game when it desyncs, always the same.
All DLCs enabled
No mods
Speed : 2 (we didnt try higher speed tho but I doubt it'd help)
Both of us can play at full speed in single player without any problem (3.4ghz cpus)
Almost everytime the desync error code is related to supply it looks like.

You should try also deleting the Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts Of Iron IV folder, that fixed various bugs for me in the past. Mind you, that will delete all your settings, savefiles, etc. so you might want to back the saves up if you don't have them in cloud

And no, using the "clear cache" option in the launcher is not the same thing

Also, when you uninstall a game on steam check if the game folder is actually gone or empty, sometimes steam fucks the uninstalls up

You could also try to uninstall everything, reinstall and, before you launch it for the first time, disable your antivirus briefly

If you are not running it in english you could also try swapping to that, there is little chance it would fix it but who knows, bugs are weird

Last but not least, the game should create a not-too-hard to read crash.log, so you could check that

(or ask paradox's technical support, if they have one)

Also, try launching the game from the .exe in the game folder, skipping the launcher

If none of these work the crash.log is probably your only clue of why it crashes

Unfortunately at least part of that error seem to be a "base error" in the current version of the game, aka you will always get it, that error should, however, not crash the game

Only a portion of the whole error.log is what's relevant to you, but one would have to separate that from the "base error"

In which case I'd just tell you to delete both your game folder and documents folder and reinstall the game, that will fix it

Cause either the mod failed to download properly, or your game fucked up the version change

If reinstalling the game would take too long for you, you could also verify the cache integrity through steam (I don't know how reliable this process is for older versions of the game)

and deleting only the C:\Users\Youruser\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron 4 folder (I had fucked up the path)

That will require no further download and could fix the problem

After that you will have to re-enable the mod from the launcher

And if you have any save files that you care about you should back them up, since you would be deleting them
