You gotta extend the building strip file by as many pixels as the file is tall for each new building, I happen to know by heart that's 46 pixels, that times 2 for the new electricity buildings I assume, and then add the new building icon in the same position as vanilla added it, in this case at the right end

It's actually ridiculous. Hoi4 is one of my favourite games, but I recently switched to a 4k display and now I can't play it anymore because my eyes start to hurt reading the incredibly blurry text. It's unbelievable they still haven't fixed this since it's a literal scaling issue, would not take long for them to fix

I know the screen is fine since everything else works, the resolution is borderless meaning its the same and the ui scaling is labelled as "experimental", so I see no way it's not due to that

Alr I found a general "ok" fix depending on which display you have. So you can set your game to run at default 1920 x 1080 pixels, even if you have a 4k monitor, which will give you a normal experience. It doesn't look "good" and some manufacturers have way better scaling systems for monitors. I luckily have a samsung which according to some reddit post is one of the best for using lower resolutions. It's worse than normal 1920 x 1080 and miles away from what you should have with a 4k display, but at least its playable. Depressing, since I thought it would be epic playing a game like this on a 4k display, but I guess paradox is too lazy to fix their scaling so this is the only viable solution

having a consistent crash on a specific date randomly all of a sudden with my modslist. This hasnt happened before despite playing yesterday for a full gmame. I dont know what could be causing this and im not well versed in reading crashlogs.

Modslist posted aswell and always kept in A-Z load order. the crashlog from what i could understand was saying things about tank modules and something involving GEO but i removed both of these and tested, the crash still occurred with both of these off.

I'm trying to run HOI4 modded and I keep getting a CTD and this error - Unhandled Exception C0000005 (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION) at address 0x00007FF679B7F342

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling HOI4 on Steam. I've verified files. I've unsubscribed and resubscribed to the mods. I've updated C++ Redistributables +64 and +86. I have posted in the discords for the mods and no one can seem to help me.

I've also tried running the game vanilla, and it still crashes throwing up the same error. So my only conclusion can be that the problem is on my machine somewhere. Can someone please help me?

that's because the engine reads through all your mods even if you have one enabled, and yes i knows its annoying, but that's how the game work, so delete the mods that you think are causing it, then go in your launcher documents>paradox launcher>HOI4 then delete everything that says cache( make sure you are comfterbul with losing your save games, and preset settings, or screenshot your playsets). I mod, and have this happen often to me, and it's annoying, and for safe measure make sure you re-verify your game files in properties on steam

your supposed to delete everything inside the hoi4 folder, then reverify via properties on steam, and delete all your cache in the launcher

also if your checksum says anything but f303 in game, then something is either corrupted/modified in the original folder that contains hoi4

figured out the issue. it was Better Mechanics : Custom Rules. Unsure what its doing to cause a crash on a specific day given its only a added rules mod but least its fixed now. maybe it was conflicting with the non-historical mode made actually playable mod or somethin

BM is pretty good with there code, but some of there files have either outdated, or unsed mechanices that the main game dosen't use no more

TFB has an issue where china dsync the whole game, and causes everyone to CTD because of the events trigger like 100 times in one second

yeah been playing all day i did run into another BM mod that was causing an event crash, the agency one this time. Im thinking theres just some events i usually never see because when i play normal historical games ive never run into a crash using this modslist ever and ive been using it for weeks. but since adding that non-historical mod a few days ago, and having the world go crazy (chaos setting, global revolution etc) ive been having these event crashes.

It's normal you can just go into events and delete that file, and you won't have to worry about it crashing, since thats really the only thing causing it

Switching off the e-cores doesn't help at all, the only solution that has worked for me so far is to restrict the core allocation to the performance cores via the task manager after starting the game.
This should also be possible for the devs with a short code that reads out the CPU and uses it to determine the core assignment (like core 0-7 in my case). If this source of error is eliminated, you can safely concentrate more on the other causes of error.

First thing: i don't know if this is a Hoi4 problem or just my pc being a piece of crap. my pc keeps shutting off when i play hoi4 its very random i can start the game start a playtrough and all but after some time my pc just shuts off it only happens when i play the Hoi4 i can play other game no problem. When the system auto-saves a game to the Cloud, and I load that game, I lose access to the F1 "Land Unit" interface.

F2 brings up my Admirals and the Navy UI
F3 brings up the Air Force and it's UI.

I'd start with just deleting the /history folder though, it's only use is to dump files for modding and can be deleted with no issue. It and /map (which you don't seem to have) are the usual suspects in such a case

If these are big mods and your game is installed on a HDD disk it can take some minutes of waiting for mods to download and initialize.

Hey, so I'm trying to play HOI4 on patch 1.9.X. Now I have all the DLC's that were out at the time of patches release besides "Man the Guns" which can no longer be purchased on steam. So is there a way a download "Man the Guns" on its own legally somewhere so I can have all DLC on for this version, I looked in DLC files in steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron IV\dlc and it wasn't there.

My friend just redownloaded HOI4 and we wanted to play some MP together. He booted up the game (accidently with no mods). He forced quit and when he opened up the launcher again, it said that all of his mods were missing descriptor files. Every mod he downloaded after that said the same thing. We checked the mod files (the ones you can see on mac easily anyway) and they seemed to be there.

We have tried:
Verifying the games files
Uninstalling and reinstalling the mods and the game
Clearing the games cache
Reloading the mods in the launcher

Is there a fix to mac crashing and being unable to resync when joining back into a game?
when theres 3 players (or potentially when there more than 3, not an issue with 2 players or singleplayer as ive seen) the game likes to crash occasionally and when you try to resync it either doesnt work or crashes game again with no fix apart from starting a whole new game (with risk of crash again)

If you're not, or that doesn't fix it, delete the /map, /history and /localisation folders in documents/Paradox interactive/Hearts of Iron IV (that isn't the path where the game is installed, after deleting those folders it should work just fine without any reinstalling)

Is there a bug with the latest updates to HoI4? My subs all break down and suffer damage - I repair them - the moment I send them to sea or very soon after they are damaged again. Why is my hoi4 starting so slow?
When I click play on steam it directs me to the launcher and then I click on play. At first I thought it was the mods making it unable to play but no crash error, thought that hoi4 crashed because of the mods. Tried it with turning off all mods except one which then I thought it must be a game error, but windows was not updated so thought it was an OS problem. Updated windows and still did not run. Then I tried playing the game with no mods activated and it started like 20 seconds later. For my PC it usually takes under 10 seconds to start hoi4, even with mods. So there must be something slowing it down which I am not aware.
