its like a very unhealthy sounding technical sound that repeats and then the pc if dead, screen frozen and it just repeats the sound really quickly

in the nvidia driver there might be a setting to limit (or not) your PC perfrmances during its use.
by default it often doesn't cap the frames or uses a wrong setting that makes your hardware overheat and crash

On AMD it was the AMD Radeon Chill that was the issue as it didn't cap the frames by default, set the settings to max performances (all components work at 100% all the time or even overclock) and that meant that everything was heating as hell when playing a management game that used both CPU, GPU and hardrive actively

by turning your mods off

if you have mods, the checksum will change and you cant join MP games using a different checksum than the host, because that would break everything

if you disabled the mods and you still have a checksum issue, its very likely you got an error somewhere and it dumped the files in your Documents/Paradox interactive/Hearts of Iron IV/ folder (quite frankly i dont know why it does this, it just does sometimes when it tries to save a file somwhere)

if there are any mod directories such as common, history, etc in the root of your hoi4 folder you should delete them, you could also backup your mod and save games folders, delete the entire hearts of iron 4 directory, then boot your game and re-add the backups, letting you keep your mods and save games folders but regenerate everything else

weather went in their favor or they momentarily extended their strike force

What kind of CPU does hoi4 need? I have a 2.5 ghz 4th gen intel. Hoi4 runs but it is to slow for mp. Would an 8th gen be enough? I haven't tried overclocking. What ghz / tflops / other metric do I need to achieve to get the same 4 speed that everyone else gets (usually it takes me 90 mins to simulate a year at speed 4).

I am having an issue where the localization for the right hand side of the inner circle is broken. It appears to be because of the focus "total control over domestic affairs". I tried verifying the integrity of the game files and re-installing the game, but the bug persists. I originally thought the problem occurred because I had been modding to try and remove the inner circle modifiers with a focus and maybe accidentally changed one of the base game localization files; however, after the re-install that seems unlikely. when using the debug focus to reset the inner circle, the modifier is not removed while other inner circle effects are. does anyone have a guess as to the problem and/or how to fix it?

Hey, I have no idea whats going on but my hoi4 keeps crashing every time i launch the game (either by ignoring the launcher or by booting up through it. Got a couple of minor things that'd I'd love help on: first off, it's not a huge deal, but the little icon on my PCs home screen that you click on to launch the game disappeared, and it's just showing the document image (no biggie, but I just like my stuff working, or at least know why it's not working). B, all the states have stopped reading their names (Mosseland, Lwow, etc.) and have started reading as STATE_##. I've been doing some modding lately, but I haven't touched the vanilla files and this is showing up when I'm in the base game playset as well.

When I play the game normally and then close it, I find that the game's FPS drops to around 5 when I reopen it, and it doesn't get fixed unless I restart the entire PC. I tried closing and reopening it multiple times, but the issue persists.

I think I've found a bug. I started the flamethrower tank special project and as italy finished the focus Italian tankettes, which gives 50% progress towards that project. But the focus finished when the project had more than 50% progress, so the project finished immediately. But it's in a bugged state. I can't change the project that the facility is working on, I can't use the basic flamethrower in a design, the support company is not available, and when I researched advanced flamethrower, I could make a tank with that, but changing the tank type to flame tank didn't work unless I clicked it, then removed a module. After producing a couple of the tank with the advanced flamethrower, I still can't add the support company. I guess I just can't use flame tanks this ironman game?

Then you want to read into those two links and look online for issues when using the nudge commando. You might actually wanna clean up your whole Documents/Paradox Interactive/Hearts of Iron IV (make sure you have a back-up of it)

Do this when your game is closed, open the game after cleaning up the whole folder, that should generate a new one and see if it still persists.

You just have to start a new game. If your save was of the game before the last update from last night, it will not work anymore, no matter the mod. The only was to play that save is to revert to an older game version.

There is something wrong with the permissions on that folder, else you wouldn't get a blank screen. I suggest texting the PDX Bot on the right side which will help you create a Paradox ticket. I mean I know IT but I am not going to fiddle or troubleshoot your PC permissions.

np, doing my best here, it's weird that the game responds this way. I also read online that you can uninstall the Paradox Launcher seperately via your Applications and Programs, then verifying thegame again and booting it up again should trigger it to install the launcher again or something like that. It's a long stretch but that's only reading experience
