If I recall correctly it transfers some of the load from your GPU to your CPU (Processor) to avoid freezes in exchange for a few extra frames of delay

However since HOI is very demanding on your CPU by default you shouldn't have it enabled if you don't have a very good CPU

yo i recently tried installing eu4 from epic games launcher (ik that isn't hoi4 related) and when i was installing the paradox launcher it said something along the lines of "invalid character in folder HOI4" and it just made me close the installer

some context: couple months ago i had hoi4 installed on drive D (now D is E with regular letters) with some non english regular letters, however i got rid of that installation completely+the launcher also

i even deleted all the files related to the launcher in appdata and documents,
still didn't work

im planning on playing hoi4 again however I'm not sure I'll even be able to install the launcher to play it and as far as i searched i found no posts on it while searching google

I just loaded up HOI4 for the first time and I am stuck at 70fps in the menu and on the map while paused on my 144Hz display. I have a 12900k and 4090 so I don't think my hardware is the limit here. All the other Clausewitz engine games run at 144Hz as expected.

not much of a tech issue as much of just a tech inquire but is there a way to select a specific patch from all existing patches like for instance 1.14.8 instead of whatever is on the Betas screen in steam , where it just jumps straight down to 1.14.5

I normally wouldn't care so much about such specific patches, but it'd be cool to play mods for 1.14.8 withouth having to jump down to 1.14.5, so I can access that very spicy mechanic to automatically allocate factories to repairs
