So I'm currently using the Microsoft store to run HOI4, and I was wondering when support ends, and the keys arrive, will my play sets stay, along with installed mods

Also, when the game.is taken down(I'm not very tech involved so these might be kinda obvious, but I'm also slightly paranoid) will all my saves files stay saved, and will I need to do any adjustments to files

Yes. I can't recall any benchmarks for HOI4 specifically, however the benchmarks for Stellaris have the 7800x3D in a clear lead. The 7800x3D is also the best gaming CPU in general. The reason a 7900x3D or 7950x3D are not better is because they actually perform worse due to having a mixture of vertical cache cores and regular cores.

Stellaris if you don't know is a grand strategy game just like HOI4 running on the same engine also made by Paradox

Not really. Lag in HOI4 is pretty normal and it's kind of a thing that just happens sometimes in grand strategy games

Yes they will stay. This is because playsets and installed mods are contained within the Documents folder and not the HOI4 game folder.

If your graphics card is fairly old I think they might have issues running HOI4 in DX11. Try running it on DX9 or OpenGL. This can be changed in Game Settings in the Launcher

Hello. My gaming group recently started to play multiplayer hoi. At least some of us do not have any performance issues late game while playing solo. But MP we experience desync mid 1944. As some of us are fairly new to the game we play it slow with a lot of teaching. I would say from 1936 to 1944 it took us 15 hours and 3 days 😅 .

Can it be a bigger problem that we are playing so slow and with a savegame over several days? Or are you also experience these desyncs late game? I mean 1944 is not late game for us. We would also like to play a little bit longer together ^^

What we of course did was clearing the cache in the launcher settings. Maybe not every time, but the problem is more or less consistent starting mid 44. And as we think we did everything we could (change host, deactive all mods, do not play faster then game speed 3) I wanted to ask if some more experienced Multiplayer Players can tell me reasons or solutions for our problem.

Does it is a problem that we play really slow and loading savegames? Do you have any special MP mods which can help? We wanted to play with better AI. So thats the only mod we really care about.

HI, I'm having a curious little bug for my install. I've been working on a mod and started getting error messages about on game rules. I hadn't been touching those, only working on national focuses and ideas, so I wasn't sure where they were coming from.

The main message seems to be:

I've dug into the files, and it seems the issue is that BLT_scripted_effects.txt isn't recognizing that LIT_ai_behavior in 00_game_rules.txt exist. But I've checked and it's there.
Not sure how to proceed. I've tried doing a full reinstall, including deleting all user files, but it's still there.

Y'all can disregard my message, I kept reading in the files and noticed LIT_ai_behavior requires the No Step Back dlc, so I tried disabling all my dlc. Suddenly the game threw a ton of dlc errors at me.
So I looked, and sure enough I don't own No Step Back.
I now own No Step Back, and the errors are gone. Of note, I didn't get errors before this all began yesterday.

I was playing a no-DLC, Road to '56 game as Portugal that was going normally. I researched new tanks and tried to start producing them, but it said I was making none and that the production would never increase. Whenever I tried adding new production lines, they give me the same message. I tried clearing them all and adding them all again, but now none of them are working. after making micro adjustments i have to create new mod under new name

Hello, I was wondering if anyone can help me out please. My game keeps crashing it happens randomly while I'm in the middle of the game but always happens no matter what year I'm on or what country I'm playing as. I use no mods all vanilla plus all the dlc released for the game. I Have tried doing a full clean re install and verified the game files. and I am still crashing. Best guess to fix is to try restarting steam so if that helps. If that doesn't work try uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

You could try manually deleting it and restarting steam see if that helps but im not really sure it that will work.

If the symbols in the () are different then I THINK (i can very well be wrong) it has do with some content that they have enabled that your missing or vice versa, maybe you guys just overlooked it.

It's probably an issue with the user directory. Either clear user settings through the launcher or use the instructions listed in the first pinned message
Edit: Just saw your message about it clearing cache not working. If you did it through the launcher try doing it the manual method.

User directory doesn't get cleared out by uninstallation so game files made during debug mode stick afterwards

Hello, I bought the game like a year ago, I loved it then I bought every DLC is avaible on MS. It has been a long time since I played HOI4. Today, like 20 minutes ago, I downloaded from XBOX. I saw a notification which is called "Free Steam Replacement". I clicked it. I did every step in the thread on forum but when I did enter the key on steam I had only 2 DLCs and the game. Is it like that for everyone or just me?

edit: Steam page says I don't have DLC but the game launcher says I have, now I will try to see if I have or not and update my post.

edit2: Now I will buy the new DLC and edit if it works or not.

I Had The Same Issue, I Fixed it by linking my paradox and steam Accounts then reverted to an earlier version of the game. This is from paradox itself and it worked 100% for me

Previously you were able to revert back to earlier versions of Paradox Development Studios (PDS) games at will on Steam. These specific versions predate the enactment of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) - hence they are not compliant with the new policy.

In order to continue our endeavor to reach full GDPR compliance, we have designed a new system regarding the access to earlier versions of PDS titles: from the 1st of October 2018 onward all previous versions of PDS titles will be locked under a Steam password.

After 1st October, you will need to log into the Paradox Plaza website with your Paradox Account to access the codes for previous branches of each game that you own. This will, however, require you to link your Steam account to your Paradox Account. In an effort to comply with the GDPR, this is something we need to put behind the Paradox logins as it requires agreement to the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use to adhere to the GDPR guidelines.

To get the codes for previous versions:

How to switch to old branch versions:

Hello I am still having issues with hoi4 it will not work at all in single player it crashes when I select a nation and try to enter the game. My lategame runs fine except ‘Click here to assign Ace Pilot’. If I click there is a 10+ second freeze until the list shows up, and a shorter leg until the selected Ace shows up. I have 600 (!) airwings and have shot down 110k enemy fighters in a year, so unused Ace count must be very high. Any idea how to speed up selection process? I am ready to delete 90% of my alive aces from the save file but don’t know where to find them. Lategame=1986.
