Can anyone help me with instruction on how to make a flag mod? Because I've seen some videos on how to make them but they are 3 years old and whenever I try to log in into the paradox v2 launcher none of my games are showing up even though I linked my account to my steam (I can literally see hoi4 in the account settings page but it doesn't show up in the launcher. Instead it says "Install your first game to get going".).

I've been playing hoi4 since release with the same PC, but now I kinda need to upgrade my CPU. Only thing is, my motherboard is outdated so I will need to upgrade that too.

On top of those things, DDR5 is coming out as well, so maybe it is worth holding out a bit longer till prices for DDR5 compatible lowers? Further to this, the HOI4 engine only uses one core for AI? This means you need higher clock speed over number of cores?

Any recommendations on whether I should upgrade or hold on for a bit longer. I have had my PC since 2016 and all the parts work well except the CPU which is lacking for these days. I've also changed a few things over the years like the drive and amount of RAM.

IF it is not enough then follow those steps exactly:
1- Unsubscribe any mod you have
2- Uninstall the game
3- Manually delete the two Hearts of Iron IV folders, you can find one under documents and the other under steamapp. Those are the usual paths to find the folders
under documents
C:\Users\user\OneDrive\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV
and under steam
C:\ ...\Steam\steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron IV
4- Open Windows Settings and search on the Applications if the Paradox launcher is still in the list, if it is uninstall it.
5- Restart your pc
6- Install the game again
7- Try if it works

Hey everyone, I am having an issue with my HoI IV where it crashes when it gets to Precalculating Naval Distances. I have gone back up through a few different people's same issues and tried everything that was said before and nothing has worked for me.

the basegame is only 7GB so if its checking 30GB you should just ignore the verification if your mods work

Now I can't even launch the launcher. After a few seconds it crashes. Is there any way I can just uninstall all my mods? Unsubscribing doesn't seem to do anything. In fact, is there any way to completely uninstall the game and start from 0? Because I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it again yesterday but to no avail, uninstalling it doesn't clear any space nor does it fix any problems.

Okay, I deleted all the mods and saves and now it went from validating 29 GB to 12 gb which is pretty good.
Weirdly enough, after deleting all of these items my free storage went from 6 free gb to 3.

Hey guys i've had to put this here because for some reason i can't post it on the paradox forums for "spam":
Differing checksums on Linux than windows, running the game with proton causes visual glitches.
Playing nativly without mods is possible, however using ANY mods make my checksum different to windows players. I've found a couple of dead threads online about this same issue, the best i got is someone fixing it for EU4 https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/1-5-1-0-workaround-for-wrong-checksum-when-using-mods-on-linux-mac.768514/ , i've followed his guide carefully but i get stuck at the :

I've changed everything in his guide to cater to hoi4 instead of eu4 but nothing, i get the error "mount(2) system call failed: No route to host." As far as i'm aware the issue stems form the fact that linux is case sensitive, and windows is not, and thus is calculating different checksums.
Running the game using proton experimental works, my and windows player's checksums are the same, however the map textures fail to load (file attached). I don't think that it's a driver issue causing the map textures to not load, all of my drivers and software are up to date.
I am honestly out of ideas, if anyone has any info on fixing the map textures or fixing the checksum issue without proton please share.

I have been having an extremely weird lately: Basically every time I alt-tab or switch away from HOI4 and try to get back, the following happens:

• Sound speakers go nuts
• Screen goes black
• Hoi4 crashes

• AMD says a driver crash happened

Okay, I believe this is where this message goes. If not correct me: When I open Steam, I am allowed to log in but then if I open another app such as Chrome, steam goes to a loading screen that just features the steam logo. This loading screen continues for ever and I have to Forcequit for Steam to close. The bad thing about this is that steam now requires me to verify my location whenever I login, so I have to go to my emails to check it but as stated earlier, steam just breaks

Then you should be fine. Hoi generally does run at around 24 fps at max speed. Since its a cpu heavy game it focusses more on doing the calculations as fast as possible, instead of going for max fps

wait @tame oasis I think I found the issue. HOI4 only uses a single core. So if you're using a cpu that has more cores but less performance per core it'll be slower. And thats why it only shows as using 30% of your cpu. Because its using just a single core

I recently installed Linux Lite on my Lenovo laptop. I wanted to play HOI4 so i installed Steam and everything.

Problem is, whenever I launch the game, it will instantly close (no launcher screen or anything, no messages), its like steam stops the game launch before it launches.

I tried using Proton, but in proton the launcher wont appear either & in direct game (skipping launcher) I get to the main loading screen but then it crashes and closes by itself (no error message)

Thats your problem then, the disk is 'busy' and steam will not process anything related to it.

I dont know, if you have steam cloud all your saves will be downloaded. If not, pray paradox saves the game saves locally

If you go into the installation folder for steam and delete everything except steamapps and steam.exe, then open steam.exe. It essentially serves as a reinstall

When i get in the game i cant see my unit models and division icons. ive reinstalled and scoured the internet. But it seemingly works in the mods Darkest Hour and Total war. While also showing it for naval and air. i have a Ryzen 5 6000 processor if it is important

My guess is if you have any mods that interfere with state names or map in general it could be causing that

That only reinstalls the game. Not the launcher. You'll need to delete it through windows settings and then launch the game again
