Hello there, I just joined this server with one of my friends. Because as of the past few days, when ever we try to play together, via multiplayer. It does not work. When said friend hosts a game and I try to join him. It says that he has a different version of the game. We tried restarting and clearing the game Cache as it said in the pinned messages, that didn't work. And we have kind of run into a stump here. Its a common bug. You'll have to rehost and make sure no one clicks a country they aren't going to play

Follow those steps exactly:
1- Unsubscribe any mod you have
2- Uninstall the game
3- Manually delete the two Hearts of Iron IV folders, you can find one under documents and the other under steamapp. Those are the usual paths to find the folders

and under steam
C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron IV
4- Open Windows Settings and search on the Applications if the Paradox launcher is still in the list, if it is uninstall it.
5- Restart your pc
6- Install the game again
7- Try if it works

So, I have another question! If you don't mind answering. Me and my friend are playing together. (we fixed the version thing but) We get mods, some of the mods say that they are for a different version. So we sighed, and unsubscribed them. The one mod that was for our version. When we both installed it and tried to join one another, we got the same "host has a different version" problem, when in fact we confirmed with one another that we had the same version. Would there be a way to play with one another with the mods activated. It would make the game more fun for our scenario we are trying to create. Get back to me when you can, thanks again man. could be related to the other issue of the "wrong" game files that you're fixing now with the reinstall, make sure your checksums are matching exactly. You can both download the same mod set and have a single file get corrupted or downloaded wrong and end up with a different checksum on the menu... if your checksums are different for any reason, you won't be able to join each others' games

or you could do it piece by piece, add one mod at a time until you have different checksums and then you know the mod you just added is the problematic one

then you can both remove and unsub from that mod, blow out the local game files for that mod, then resub to it

I keep encountering an error where the game crashes when I reach the 'Initializing Game' stage of the opening process. I've pretty much done everything that I have read on the Paradox Forums and Reddit (uninstall, reinstall, cleared caches, verified integrity, deleted folders etc.) and I literally cannot find what the issue is.

sounds like a problem with the mod, try unsubbing / wiping all of the files for it, then resub to the mod and see if it does the same thing. If your vanilla checksum is fine and it only breaks with the mod, then it's a mod problem

you probably need to whitelist the game folders with your antivirus; if you have the option in your antivirus, you could try disabling it temporarily then running the game to see if it works fine, that'd tell you if it's the AV blocking it or not

hi could someone help me with a sudden issue that I have. My hoi4 loads perfectly fine usually but after a crash yesterday all of my games but in particular hoi4 has been suuuuper laggy and adding on that as soon as I click "view on map" at the starter menu for countries it crashes immediately. Only times ive gotten it to work so that it loads is changing to Dx9 but that comes with no joke 1 frame per 4 seconds fps. Can someone help 🙏

1- Unsubscribe any mod you have
2- Uninstall the game
3- Manually delete the two Hearts of Iron IV folders, you can find one under documents and the other under steamapp. Those are the usual paths to find the folders

C:\Users\user\OneDrive\Documenti\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV
and under steam
C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron IV
4- Open Windows Settings and search on the Applications if the Paradox launcher is still in the list, if it is uninstall it.
5- Restart your pc
6- Install the game again
7- Try if it works

I've got a problem. I'm playing historical Japan on Ironman mode and my plan was/is Sunrise Invasion and Tojo shot First achievements. I did Sunrise Invasion by capping Mexico and USA (1938) and then going war against Allies while being in Axis, no problems so far. Allies cap (1939 or 1940) and I go into war against Comintern and I realise that I can also do New World Order, so I start justifying against countries and each one of them takes 10 days (because I'm still at war against Comintern). Firstly Every country I justified against joined Comintern, after getting into war against Sweden and then Finland, Finland made it's own faction with sweden and the next countries started joining that faction upon me declaring war. At this point USSR was being heavily beaten and I realise that there aren't many majors left to be against. only Sweden Finland and USSR so I started justifying against other big countries when I saw that France had still some overseas territory, I declared on them and countries started joining either this Allies 2.0 or Finnish faction.

Now that I've declared against every country that isn't fasicst, the problem comes. I've started to cap the majors, USSR went down before I declared on France, only Allies major was France and when I capped France, it went into a peacedeal and any button that I clicked, would crash the game.

Not only ruining my chances of getting the two achievements but also ruining the chance of playing the game at all

Hi, I have audio-bug and I dont know how to fix it, every time i start a HoI4, music is playing casually, but than some parade sound effect starts to play, but the casual music is still playing so it makes two music sounds at once and its really irritating, i tried to fix it by putting music audio or general audio down but the parade sound effect is still playing, here are examples

try to uninstall and reinstall the launcher

settings, apps and search the launcher, uninstall it. then go on steam and try to launch the game to force it to reinstall the launcher

I did, I tried to verify the files, I reinstalled the game, I reinstaled the launcher. Nothing worked.

did you check if the antivirus allow the launcher? also be sure to check the ransomware protection if it is blocking the update

Hi, this has only been happening since today but, whenever I try to go play a round it says that I have a cheats or a modified save game yet I have no mods on, it isnt a visual glitch as when I press start it still says I have mods enabled.

Is there a log that might provide more details? I have a laptop which plays the game fine but my desktop doesn't work for HOI4

I've been able in the past on this same computer (desktop) to play it without issues so not sure what changed.

Also note if I skip the launcher the game is able to run as well.

Unrelated to this, but has there been any thought to add WASD option for players who like the move the map using such keys? I know there are other ways to get this done but it would be nice to have a in-game option instead that is seamless. If you are not sure is there a place I can ask about this at all?

So, Ive have played this game for a few years now, and i always found the Microsoft version to be anyoing as it does not connect with steam's online multiplayer, so i bought the steam version to play online, whilst still having a lot of dlc's on Xbox version i deleated it from my pc so there wouldnt be any interference... Now after reinstalling the Microsoft version of HOI4 on my pc i cant get the German historical portraits again, there isnt any link that i can download on the store, nor on the Xbox app... Hello, im currently running Hoi4 on a rtx 2080, i7-6700k and 32 gb ram. Whenever i use 5th speed, doesnt matter if my graphics are on lowest, i get between 20 and 30 fps. My friends with worse specs dont have this issue. Anyone able to help with this?

That actually seems normal for five-speed, however it could be a result of your CPU being relatively old by this point

In-game localisation does allow them, however

Playable is always relative

I also get 20-30 FPS on 5 speed and I find it perfectly playable
