Verify File Integrity

after you try those steps force the game on the latest patch

You have a modified 'checksum'

Basically means you aren't on the same version as others

Have you disabled all your mods

Oh, in that case I don't know

Clear your cache

Go to the launcher/settings and there should be an option called 'clear user directory'

You will notice that it has a checksum on the launcher, that's the correct vanilla one, if that matches the one loaded by your game then you know that nothing is tampering with it.

Well see if the vanilla checksum matches your in-game one.

If it doesn't, then go to Documents/Paradox Interactive/Hearts of Iron IV and delete it

This will delete any manually defined mods and save files you have so be aware, back them up if you are concerned about that.

Hey! I've been having audio problems with the game.
My audio works on every other game with my headset or speakers but it's really quiet with both headphones and speakers just for hoi.

I've Uninstalled and reinstalled.
I've checked all my audio settings including my audio mixer.
I've also deleted my mods just incase it was one of those.
And the paradox support email didn't help

the common fix for this would be this tip;

If there are issues with your world map (country borders not showing up or colours not showing) you will need to clear your game's cache.To clear the Cache, close your game and relaunch it. In the Paradox Launcher, click GAME SETTINGS on the left menu, and then scroll all the way down until you see the Game section at the bottom, and select the CLEAR USER DIRECTORY.

This should help solve the issue when you fully launch the game.

It will cause problems like crashing when you use the mod

Your best bet is just not to play the mod or you could try going back to an older version of hoi4

so my friend and i are trying to play hoi4 multiplayer together and we have the same checksum, same version, same everything, but whenever he joins my game persay, it either says connection timed out or when we get in the game, we ready up and then we get in, then the host can do anything, but the player who joined the host (my friend @ancient orbit joined) isn't able to do anything, he cant do focuses, he cant research, he cant do anything. so when i unpause the game it only moves for me, not him, vice versa

Hi guys! Since i reset my computer hoi 4 started lagging. Before the reset i was able to go steady at speed 4 and 5 both vanilla and modded, but now after the reset it seems the game can't be steady even at speed 4 in vanilla. Tried using the debug smooth, delete the save folder (that was over 80 GB), reinstall it, changing a power option, lower or turn off every graphic option and verify files through steam but nothing. But then I played a mp roleplay game hosted by some random and I averaged 300 ms ping. But then I played another hoi4 mp roleplay game and I got 20 000 ms ping. Does anyone have any solution to this? If so please tag me, I'm kinda desperate...

So this one's very spesific. I've been making this total conversion mod for like a month. Its pretty good and has like really little bugs. But one accured today and it might broke the whole project.

Mod works totally fine at all of my friends' computers. But when I open it, loading tips won't work, just one ideology which is communism converted to "nomad" also won't work. Lastly, idology modifiers like "fascism_drift" localisation also won't work. When I have unfinished things I cannot continue to work and this little bug might cause serious problems in the future so I REALLY need help.

I tried deleting the game then loading the mod. Vice versa. I deleted both then loaded. I loaded the working versions from my firends' pc's. I deleted user cashe at the launcher start. I went back to older versions. NONE works. I mean, I don't know if you can help me but here I am guys

that's normal for everyone, speed 5 basically tries to run the game simulation/speed as fast as possible, framerate be damned. If you run the game at max speed starting in '36, you'd end up in '45 faster than someone with a weaker PC but you'd both get bad framerates

Well, that is the prescribed fix so that's unfortunate. I have seen very mixed results on that fix, but it's the official Paradox one so

You can't, easily. There's a long and complicated way that I assume would still work using the depot and manifest IDs and the steam console, but I've never tried it to make sure it works for hoi4

your friend has a wrong checksum. He probably used previously mods that modified the game files.
Tell him to:
Search the folder HOI4 under documents (usually this is the path C:\Users\user\OneDrive\Documenti\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV)
and move his save game folder somewhere else to keep it safe
then delete the entire HOI4 folder and launch the game again
check to have the same checksum (92f5) and lastly install the same mod that you have.

if this is not enough and he has still a different checksum then follow this: #tech-support message
