Yes, they can be dropped.
But they are huge.
You could make the template smaller to support more paratroop divisions if you lack the numbers.
And then they'd get killed, which is why we moved away from doing that. We do need like 20 of these though

You can still supply your army without trucks. But without trains good luck

16 width template with support aa and artillery companies if you can have the industry, early game you can beat any warlord by having supplied divisions and against Japan just spam out 16 widths to hold and then once your confident you can hold you can spam out 36 width inf to push back

If your a warlord you can start with 8 width till you unify part of China as long as you make sure your divisions are just equipped
in short: you need to have ships in Tyrrhenian sea to have naval dominance, giving the order to patrol that area is more than enough to get naval doominance

medium= versatile, heavy fighter oro tactical bomber
large= strategic bomber

and the navy make sure to have some navy in patrol and some for naval invasion assistance
you need to wait 50 days in order to execute the invasion

on your army, when you hover your mouse on the green arrow that executes orders, you can see what is missing for a naval invasion

keep in mind if you there's conflicts (in this case in the english channel) then you might have some difficutlies to get the superiority

theres different possible reasons
the only 2 i can think of are maybe you lost naval supremacy,
maybe your ships don't have the support naval invasion (it's not obligatory but helps)

I don't know how that particular event works but generally you should improve relations to bring up their opinion of you and hope for the best
I don't think you can fully guarentee it
how does planning and its bonus work? I just make frrnt line draw arrow and click
if you hover over a unit it under a general it will tell you the amount of stat bonus it will have when it attacks if the unit is under a plan
it takes time to accumulate but you usually get full plan bonus in 10-20 days
it only applies to attacking
and you don't need to execute the plan to have the bonus applied
which is why you see experienced players drawing a plan but not executing it, so they can optimize the actual attack by using player-routes instead of stupid ai routes
planning bonus decays when your unit moves so whether you click the arrow or move units manually your unit will lose the planning bonus
the only useful planning traits are ones that add max planning bonus since they allow you to accumulate more planning bonus, planning speed is not an important bonus to have
It's also why sfp is better at defense than gbp is while gbp is better for offense, although the difference is negligible. It's because gbp gives planning bonus while sfp gives raw stats

most historical templates are abysmal dogshit in hoi4 (see the "historical" tank divisions and tank brigades used by uk, germany and france)

it just gives slight boost, no debuffs
use henschel for most stats, use the SPG one if you turn the tank into an SPG
there are traits you add afterwards, Henschell is by far the best for tanks
the SPG one is broken and will give absurd stats to SPGs as well

in the trait list, aim for the traits that give soft attack first

For Finland starting from -36, what would be the best doctrine combo? I am thinking Superior firepower, then either Large unit tactics or Great War infantry for infantry sub-doctrine, and Desperate Defence or Grand Assault for Operations? Am I completely off here?

If you mean fleet submarines then yes, just remember to set engagement rules to always fight and maximize sub visibility buffs

So, I pulled a little Operation Torch to clear up the Axis from North Africa. I now have a very long, skinny front, facing a number of what is likely direly under-supplied Axis divisions.
Uh, I just now saw there's a good chunk of territory called "Algerian Desert" with the note "Troops may not enter". Do I just push south and obliterate all the remaining Axis divisions?

I rambled a bit, but basically I was dreading having to chase Axis divisions deep into the Saharan desert and overextending. But, if I'm guessing right, they can't retreat into the Sahara?

you can use "focus.autocomplete" in console commands and instantly receive the focus you click on, then just disable it by typing it again; that's the closest thing I'm aware of.

Not the most efficient one but you just go to files and edit the times for the country you want to play before you start the game, aswell as making a copy so you can just delete when you finish the playthrough

if anything the navy system makes more sense now (it also prevents Navy teleporting around the world)
you need ships on patrol to create supremacy, then ships in port with strike force multiply that supremacy

More factory output outweighs the advantages of dispersed
Concentrated is always better because higher cap and output
Dispersed has more IC output at the start because of higher efficiency base but concentrated quickly catches on then surpasses it

Ok, this may sound like a dumb question but im trying to get my ships over to the uk but they dont have range to get there. I have port access to spain but I cant actually dock them there. Anyway I can get past the red barrier?

i'd say it's easier to use paratroopers
Get 4 carriers with maxed out hangers and nothing else and then roach bb roach cl roach dd and then get carrier naval bombers with best torpedoes and you should be fine

on your naval make sure to have naval invasion support on, i think will be easier
