if youre a new player id suggest playing major countries on historical for a few games to get a better handle on the game, before you try ambitious stuff like taking on uk as france in 39

playing the uk is good since there's almost no chance the ai will ever be able to threaten you with invasion

germany is also very easy as long as you can understand the mefo bills system

ok, i think you should still go uk for that since they have the most advanced naval tech at game start, the largest navy, and their only historical naval foe is italy which is a relatively easy opponent

you can practice learning naval mechanics in the mediterannean which is very forgiving and you have lots of dockyards in case you mess up

japan is also great, i like to plug japan bc its my favorite major

you get the longest time to build up your navy before war, and uk and us usually don't send their ships there until a couple months after you declare

so youre typically mopping up small task forces from the indies and australia

which is easy

plus you can get super heavy battleships faster than anyone else

which is good because they give a lot of naval supremacy and are virtually unsinkable

It is important to send volunteers to Spain so the Carlists manage to rise up.
You have to take control of some of their cities. You can check the Nationalist tree of Spain for more information.
Then you could risk to throw yourself into a civil war too.
Or you make decent volunteers and try to use them only without own civil war.

​​I have a really dumb question: i know how to make encirclements but there is kind of a buffer zone regarding supplies and divisions and ik its on preference: a) go all in and destroy them with little to no supply or b) slowly chip the army away but im gonna risk the entire enemy army smashing through the infantry even if i have the supply. you encircle units that are out of supply since their speed is usually lower

your units will be useless at attacking if unsupplied

Just go 9 cavalry with support companies in your template.

Use cavalry recon because of the buffs it gets from the mounted infantry sub doctrine.

Use infiltration assault grand doctrine which also grants some cavalry bonuses.

For artillery doctrine, I’d say if you are going cavalry only, the engineering one is the only one with bonuses that would really affect you, and if you are using tanks use mobile fire bases for the breakthrough bonus to all tank battalions armored recon gets as a result.

If you use armored, you have an interesting opportunity since the mounted infantry sub doctrine eventually grants 50% more speed to cavalry putting them at 9.6 speed, meaning they could work with your tanks.

Remember that a good chunk of your cavalry buffs (15% attack and defense) only come after you form Turkestan.

I’d say Khotan Ma.

Put troops on the borders of the other ma’s, improve relations with them, then do the focus to puppet them.

Make sure to let each of them go through all of the focuses that grant them civ’s and mils in their warlord tree (it won’t take long as it’s not that many) before you annex them to form Xebei San Ma.

Meanwhile, defeat and then core Sinkiang through a focus, requesting the troops of the other Ma’s you puppeted.

After you puppet the other Ma’s (which you should do as quickly as possible), complete all of your factory focuses.

Once you have cored Sinkiang and the other Ma’s you will have an industry potentially greater than Nationalist China’s (if you let the other ma’s work through all of their focuses that grant factories before you annex them).
