-plan the tree
-make a skeleton
-add the localization
-add the effects
-add the art
graphics/localization ones usually

The continent scope works perfectly if you wanted to say "owns at least one state in europe" for a focus, like a focus to reinstate your government
It can also be used in a NOT argument, like with the Dutch focus tree to continue the war out of Batvia (DEI)

i have been crashing for some times because of a map error that i cant understand which one is
(after i already did buildings validation, unistacks and railway )
i was almost finished with doing the map and close it for teh day, i noticed two provinces inverted in the states and i fixed them but then one province didnt fix, so i tried to delete the province from teh defintion and all stataes/strategic regions files and then it started to crash with no reason, the erorr log showed nothing wrong related to the map but yet i crashed still, first at the checksum and then at the initializing game
i really need an help as i didnt save the provinces changes i did for the whole middle east and half of turkey 💔 which are almost 600 provinces
could the duplicate tag for Saudi Arabia be the issue?

I experienced this when modding the great lake states, certain areas are more vulnerable to crashes and I feel like in this case it's the Black Sea
So just manually make the correct provinces from the generated definition coastal, assign them to their respective states/strat regions, etc

i just checked the coastals ones, it seems nothing is wrong, and the states are all good, i checked teh ones i did and they match the province i assigned Pre-crash, for the strategic regions its all good, even because turkey has one air space in the whole country lol

unless you enable UI scaling, the texture size is usually identical to what you see in screenshots, though here the antialiasing? makes that impossible to guess
there isnt like, a mod that provides an API for a live game client, is there? im assuming the game client doesnt have such a thing built in. use case: just daydreaming about hooking up an llm to my local game client. new player to hoi4, and when i started playing i had a chatgpt window open on another screen. and i was constantly screenshotting things (like live events) and it was helping explain deeper context. which is all wiki knowledge in its training, im sure. what i thought would be fun was some sort of mcp interface to the game client that would let it just read things about the game state. like a REST API on some set of the gameobjects. could have so much fun with that

guys is this a good idea for my romania mod? on the fascist path im thinking either axis or make own faction, then in three mutually exclusive focuses. one that can only be done if u create ur own faction about romanian balkan domination. puppets that give basically everythhg (puppets will have focus trees). then a path in the middle more about taking less land but coring it (eg demanding) and third is about helping barabarossa, coring some black sea and help germany (and also stopping hungary and bulgaria taking ur lands cus germany loves you). is this good? any ideas??

u get a unique rgb, add the province ID and RGB to the definition, u paint the rgb on the province map, u add it in the province list of the states and strategic regions and then when u get in the game validate both buildings and units

- Now the size of the EC expands by 2 electors when a new state is admitted (when a new state is admitted, it has a 50/50 chance of either aligning with the Republicans or Democrats)
- Every 5 states that are admitted, the Electoral College expands by an additional 20 seats. The House of Representatives will also expand by 20 seats, with 10 automatically supporting the government
- There is an on-map area allowing you to see which states will align with each party.
Is it possible to make a second file for the same type of equipment in the common/units/equipment folder? like for example can i make an "artillery" than a "heavy artillery" file?

- Fake "Party countries" represent the party's influence on each state.
- A core means that state will vote for that party
- A claim means a party has influence on a state, but the other is in control of it assuming it has a core
- Both a claim and a core means that the state is a stronghold for that party

Your first mod will always be hard, but you'll get the hang of it and by that point the only complications are on the creative side

Hello!, I was wondering if anyone knew which code is used to transfer all of the equipment a nation has to the country it was annexed by?
Now in the USA Rework, there is an indicator for how many EVs a state is worth. For example (as pictured), New York is worth 53 Electoral Votes. (I am aware that some numbers are not accurate to their real-life counterparts. This is because IRL, every state is worth at least 3 votes. That is not the case for this mod, as I can not devise an accurate formula for that)
OK I just created a much more accurate algorithm, now states should only be like 1 or 2 off from their historical count maximum, for example New York is 46 in my system but was 47 historically

If you want to download it from the workshop it would require way too much work for what it gives (primarily rewriting the entire research system) since paradox doesn't give us a way to start a research and we'd have to edit parts of the game paradox doesn't allow to be uploaded if we wanted to do it in any reasonable way

- just add a file in common (maybe a scripted effect or trigger since those don't do anything)
- There are three buttons that, when pressed simultaneously, will crash any MP host. You can delete or hide one of them. People just delete folder interface and it will reappear.

You override the vanilla project files you wanna edit by keeping their name and path the same, then just edit the durations inside the file

Hi,
I started playing the novum vexillum mod just because it has a start date of 2016. But I found out that the national focus states that have their own focuses don't show up in the 2016 scenario. The only time they show up is when I was playing with one state in debug mode and then switched to another, which made the focus trees appear. Even when I tried copying the focuses from the base mod data into my submod, it still didn't work (same with the global conflict submod). Is there a mod that would solve this or should someone make their own mod that would solve this (and yes I know it's undeveloped but I enjoy it much more than the 2000 start date). I would gladly remove the 2000 start date with the mod I created so it would work (I don't know if it will help, I'm not a modder).

I noticed the submarine deck space has add_equipment_type = carrier. Does this mean it makes the game treat the ship as both a submarine and a carrier, benefiting from modifiers to both?

Hey guys,
I´ve a short question.
I started with nearly zero knowledge to create a small mod, just for my coop runs with a friend.
I tested it for a war, between two countries and it works fine.
But I´m struggling now to make it dynamic.
I just want two decisions, that only pop up if it in a war with someone.
These will trigger few events and to the enemy.
One trigger is that they make white peace at the border. They transfer states to the owner and create in all states at the new border a dmz for 180 days.
That´s the basic, with few more things.
I tested it with GER vs AUS and that works fine.
But I don´t know how to write it now for all nations.
If I´m working with ROOT and FROM, decisions are still there, but there are no events anymore.
debug/log is empty too, no errors.
I changed even things like:
has war with AUS to has war yes.
I would be happy if someone can help me with that.
I just want this kind of mod for my friend and me, to stop wars earlier with few extras, like the dmz.
I have my folder with ger vs aus - which works.
But changing it and remove country TAG, I don´t get events anymore.
Another thing is, that I don´t get more decisions, when I get more enemies into a war.

I am not sure what you exactly try to do but I think you want to use targeted decisions if you want more decisions to appear for other countries
When a country has a war with another country, he get two decisions.
Both will trigger a white peace but with different modfiers.
I wrote it with TAG with GER and AUS at the beginning, for learning and testing. Everything works fine here.
But what I want is now, making it working for all countries.
So, it doesn´t matter which country started a war, they get both decisions for "asking" for a white peace.

I mean, the mod isn´t big and there are not many lines.. But I don´t know what to do. I was happy that I can bring it to work, when I focus it on two nations. But change it into "dynamic" or autofill... nothing work now.

Hello, I'm trying to make a custom alt-history map scenario for a roleplaying HoI4 game my friends. Along with territorial changes, I would also like to wipe national spirits from all nations, and add my own custom spirits with custom names. I would finally like to remove focus trees from all nations, and be able to set certain ai nations to do nothing (not join factions, basically be removed from the game in terms of gameplay). Is there a good mod set I can do all this with? I've already found "Toolpack without the Errors" to be great for making the territorial changes, but how could I accomplish the rest? I would really appreciate any advice for this.
(Edit: Sorry if I didn't make this clear, but I'm not interested in making a custom geographical world, I'm fine with using irl Earth with all the in-game state and province borders.)

Could potentially be a bit above my scope. I'd just like to use the pre-existing vanilla tags, such as Prussia. I'm not good at file based editing, as I kind of have 0 experience doing any of it. So I'm wondering if I can mainly make this scenario with the help of tool mods like Toolpack, and the Empty World mod you listed. Something I've been looking for is a mod that more easily allows me to set again, custom spirits or the like, without having to go in and create them manually in the files.
My plan is just to have a rearranged world with some formable/releasable nations replacing others, and then custom spirits and default focus trees.

I would recommend using Visual studio with the HOI4 tools addon, it makes editing alot easier by letting you preview focus tree's and tech tree's etc

i made a macro that pauses the game every 5 minutes, leaves it paused for a minute, then unpauses it. to use it you install the macro program, boot up hoi4 and pause it, then play the macro using the program, its for multiplayer so you can take a break every 5 minutes to sort your stuff.

Basically, the HOI4 modding wiki mentions it twice, how to display all elements of an array through recursive scripted localization and editing variables within the trigger of the localization. Im not quite sure on how to do it and was wondering if anyone by now knows how this is done

By copying basegame files if you need to edit them for your mod, or just making new ones. The game accepts most files as long as they're in the correct folder (with some exceptions)

Looks interesting, and it seems the developer put a lot of effort into it
only problem i have with it is i find it so confusing to navigate. theres so many focuses idk where to start, and some complete automatically over time. it took a decent amount of runs before i knew where to go. i prefer a more.. not linear, but simpler focus tree. it was still great though
Indeed. I suppose my main issue would be the lack of major alternate history options, and I believe the dev said no more were going to be added (fascism, communism, neutrality, etc). I personally find fun alternate history paths to be the most fun and that's why I put them in my mods.
The focus on the historical path as well as the military and economy is still absolutely commendable
yeah i totally agree with that. it's really limited on what you can do with it. you're feeling a bit expansionist? well, you puppet all of the americas... and that's it. you're just waiting for WW2 on historical. and japan isn't too hard to destroy. it's a very linear playthrough

yeah it kinda sucks. annoying that they have no foreign claims though, and all the romanians back then just lived in romania. so u gotta make the reasons for coring it yourself which is a pain as i try to keep it semi-believable
A lot of nations are like that. Japan's certainly one of them and Paradox had no hesitation giving them a lot of extra cores in NCNS (which is great imo)

Don't worry, I always take a long time with my trees too. Quality is much better than quantity. Also, I don't think a Romania focus tree will come out anytime soon. The earliest it could be is by November when the next big DLC will probably come out, but I'm chancing that it's USA/allies-related

Not in this update unfortunately, the main focus is improving the political system, changing the Great Depression and making it a system, and maybe also changing the Civil War
Also in the last update I added another "expansionist" path for if you elect the America First Party, which doesn't require a civil war

The Great Depression is now a modifier in the USA Rework to allow for a future system to deal with it

The idea is, each card represents a category of policies in a Great Depression recovery policy. The cards in this example represent policies for Re-establishing the Gold Standard. By completing decisions, you will have a chance (that will tick up each time the decision is taken) to earn a card for that category of policy. When a card is earned, New Deal modifiers will improve.
The Gold Standard hand (as shown) will represent a "Straight Flush" flushing out government overreach from the New Deal.
The New Deal hand will represent a "Full House" of new government programs that will include the 3 R's of Recovery, Reform, and Relief as well as two other related things that I haven't come up with yet
There will be one for MacArthur's system but I don't know what it will be yet
Any suggestions would be helpful, especially because this is in its early stage

The USA has a huge industrial base and I want to allow for some balancing out.
Germany, for example, when they got their DLC you are now given the choice between getting it with pretty severe economic debuffs or have a ticking time bomb on your economy, and yet you can still bring them to extreme industrial prominence. I believe that the same can be said for the USA Rework after this update

Can anyone help me? I installed in workshop, road to 56, I entered the game it didn't load the mod, I deleted it and installed it again, I did a clean cache it didn't work. I tried through the praradox luncher, I made a new playset I put the mod in it doesn't work either... I tried putting it in completely manually I made a mod folder it doesn't work either. There's no error or anything, it shows that everything is fine but when you enter the game it's as if there is no mod.

The system I just showed is the second of two that I am adding. The Great Depression system is still a WIP as I haven't finished it for the other routes (New Deal is complete, but not Gold Standard or MacArthur path)
The other system is the new election system, which I showcased earlier in this channel
After that I plan to expand the economic tree
What I am considering adding to this update but may push back to the next update is new 2USCW content. Not sure if I will, depends on how long it takes to get other stuff done
When all of the cards are collected, the Depression can be declared to be over. When you declare it to be over, you will receive a new modifier (it is but a cosmetic change, the effects carry over from the Great Depression modifier) and you will get this event.
The "American Economy" tree will also unlock, which will allow you to buff the American Economy modifier further
If anyone is wondering what you have to take advantage of to make something like this, you need to know how to use scripted effects, scripted guis, scripted localization, and dynamic modifiers

That's why one of the policies is "Remobilization" to represent how important that was to ending the Depression
And honestly, both that and Innovation weren't really key parts of the New Deal. But you gotta get creative
you could do it via decisions, events or focuses
or just do a mod that changes the amount of building slots at the start of the game for ur nation

I would suggest splitting your localization into several different files for organization
For example, separate files for ideas and events
