eh no not when im launching the mod but when i make changes i am
You should enable it on launch
in steam, right click hoi4 and select properties > launch options and put "-debug"
why because then i dont know if it will work without it
There is an error message on the main menu if the game won't function properly in some form without debug mode
Changing states will almost always cause map errors, this is the easiest way to fix them

but in your case I believe you just need to fix the buildings, in nudger, press buildings > validate all states
then save and drag the files into your mod
really that easy wow
It's a lot easier than doing it by hand but nudger can cause issues on its own so be careful

Hey when anyone gets a chance,
I cant get past initializing game when I select a country.
Basically I'm making an entirely new map and entirely new countries and the map I believe is fine. The country shows up and everything and I can go into the country selection screen. But then when I select the test country and hit start it begins to load but at a certain point in "Initializing Game" it gets stuck and crashes. A few things I am wondering are supply because I didnt really do much with that because nudger wont let me even open that tab without crashing. I have a state in the supply file but I'm not sure if i need every state in it or whatever the case with that. If not that could it be because I didnt set an oob/units file for it yet? Ive tried to follow some things with the "replace_path" thing in the .mod file but different things are showing different things and now I'm not sure what needs to be replaced and what doesnt. I have things like countries and country_tags marked to replace as well as the history files and some others.
Sorry that this is long and if i said something that obviously is a problem I'm half asleep rn and this things very frusterating sometimes. I attached the error log saying that some original tags cant be found but I'm not sure if thatll help because I dont have those countries in the files anywhere for the mod.

the ai strategy is basically the common/ai_strategy/GER.txt, which would be trying to refer to focuses in the german focus tree (that no longer exist) so it errors
same thing for the other errors
what do i do about it
well, you can copy the german ai strategy file into your mod and leave it blank, or you can ignore the errors as they aren't too signficiant
error logs can get pretty big so 2k isn't too bad
there are more then just ai strategy tho and it is 100kb big btw

You can put in an allow_branch = { INSERT_TRIGGER_HERE = yes } into the first focus of the branch you want to hide
and put mark_focus_tree_layout_dirty = yes into the same spot where you are enabling that trigger, like a completion reward or similar
well i made an event that triggers in 1937 and then another event and then finnaly if you select the correct option it completes the focus will that work?
you could do set_country_flag = branch_enabled and then inside the allow_branch have has_country_flag = branch_enabled
also put the mark_focus bit next to where you're setting the country flag

Crete your own mod by going to playsets -> upload mod. Name it something you want and then go to the base mod and copy everything over (except descriptor) and do the changes there

Does any one know why this provinces.bmp just stopped working? I edited a few provinces in paint.net because of the provinces cant be bigger than 1/8th thing and then I went back and saved it through MapGen, as well as the other map things like world_normal again. But once I did that the game started crashing at exactly the same point on "Loading History". Definition file has not changed

Both of those problems will crash your game
Just take a look at a normal state file in the base game
And work off that
i have 2 custom states
i made the first one
and it worked fine
after i made the second
it crashes everything
i think its bc of that state
after i deleted the state
it still crashes
Because you have 0 manpower in the state and no state type defined
I don’t know why that didn’t crash the first time
But trust me from experience those two issues individually will crash your game

we have the same checksum when using both of the mods separately
like same checksum with mod 1, same with mod 2
but when we use both, we get different checksums
why is this happening
even the slightest differences in game files can change the checksum, so validate your game files, disable any other mods and make sure there are no extra files/folders in your hoi4 documents folder
