hate to say it zudakra but if you dont have howa, dont want to play archmage youre kind of just limited if you want something comparably good. im having this same issue in ssf.
i would suggest shattering concoction, even though its not a spell its a ranged skill. you cast a curse and use the skill but its more than 1 button technically lol
also you can play frostbomb titan. i ripped mine at 83 but it was pretty fun to play

A problem with multi-button builds is that they just aren't viable for clearing, you need a one button spammable thing to handle breaches, rituals or simulacra, not to mention just getting through the incredibly wide map layouts.
This is because no matter how effective your combo is, in the time it takes you to finish your setup and start the payoff, you could have already killed that mob and moved on
This is a problem with the game imo, I really wish there were broadly less damage per hit, fewer enemies (dealing less damage per hit with more hits) and smaller maps.
That said, this doesn't really apply to bosses. Against most of those you can afford the time to set up your exodia, and are appropriately rewarded
Something something "slower, tactical gameplay" doesn't work if the game also expects you to interact with many hundreds of mobs

Hello, im playing an ice strike build, ice strike have 142k dps, i have 220 rarity, but i can't find a way to upgrade my build without having to spend hundreds of divs, i still die sometimes on juicy keys and citadels, any advices ?
I've an ice strike monk everything together like 40 div,
220k ice strike that goes up to 800k during fight and 5k ES goes up to 10k with grim feast

Anyone know if you can install/run path of building on a steam deck?
Starting in on PoE2 and looking over builds and Minion Infernalist and Spark Stormweaver booth look good to me. Im concerned with end game with minions though. ARPG's have a hard time scaling minions and they fall off late game. Dont want to put in all that effort (a lot for my casual ass) and then regret and reroll. Minions falling off later a concern or am I good to go with either pick?
minions ofc are weaker later than spark.. slower at least
but then they are way stronger early

and the only thing keeping reavers from removing target from reality is target size(they are melee so need place to stand around enemy)

minions are strong enough to 0-button-press faceroll t16+ maps and ultimatum
frost mages at least
and reavers are kings of single target DPS as long ast target is large enough for them to stand around(endgame bosses tends to be big boys)
How is the Minion AI? Clunky, bad, great? Feel not so great playing up to lvl 10.

It's worth pointing out that respecting is relatively easy here, the only real cost is just getting the gear for the new build. So long as you use the same ascendancy, that is.

Could combo with the +10% block boots and have 25% base. 10% boots + 15% Staff Implicit, then get all the evasion/block nodes from ranger and anoint a block passive.
Hmmm... could use a gemling one as a template. At least mine is like 2~3 points adjacent to the start of monk. Downside is you miss 6% stat from gemling.
How does block work with the staff? Does 25% block mean you can pretty much avoid 25% dmg? Do you have to face a certain direction with the staff?

- It doesn't block AoE (unless Turtle Charm Warbringer), Ground Effects and Dots.
- Works omnidirectional.
Block is a type of damage mitigation that typically negates all hit damage. Block is primarily obtained from shields. Shields skills can also provide a guaranteed directional block, though its consecutive usage is limited by the player's stagger.
As I said, it's a difference of 6% stats (and the double inherent bonuses), but should also work as an invoker.

I'm currently playing as a lvl 53 infernalist witch in cruel mode, I saw a few builds that added the brutality support gem in the Detonate Dead skill, which deals fire damage as far as the game says, in which it will cancel out the fire damage. Is brutality support gem actually good for detonate dead or is it a useless support gem?
Also what are the best 3 support gems for flame wall and detonate dead? Thank you for the help.
The flat fire damage from DD is a very small percentage of the physical damage equal to corpse life
Thus, scaling the physical damage at the expense of fire damage is good

What is your build lacking?
- Resist Runes/Cores if you aren't capped.
- MP Soulcores for MoM builds.
- HP Soulcores else.
Iron runes are not worth it as the defensive stats are bad.
Morior Invuctus would probably work. Else just the best rare you can find/that is in your budget.

Morior can have 50 spirit. Else spirit on rares can roll up to 61.

Because that pretty much means near max rolls on both armor (60 max uncorrupted) and amulet (65 max uncorrupted) spirit rolls.
If you run 2~3 heralds, consider running reservation efficiency nodes if your build doesn't do so yet.
For curses, i had success moving from Blasphemy back to hardcast with cursed ground support.

Grim feast seems like an optional skill, especially considering it is less useful during bossing. But there, ghost dance also costs the same.
It does use 2 heralds. Did you already plan to use reservation efficiency?

There are passive skills making heralds cheaper.
16% near the '50% increased elemental dmg during herald' and another like 6% near the 'herald dmg and aoe' notable.
So you can make the 2 heralds like cost 50 Spirit instead of 60.
(Pro tip: herald reservation efficiency also applies to all supports with spirit cost slotted in them!)

Seem to be stuck now, not sure what to upgrade or change out in terms of items and gems and dps seems quite low 🙁
maybe swap out ring with 2x other rings but dps still will be low and I think I'll have mana issues
Neither Evasion nor Block affect your Max Hit (total damage you can take from 1 hit without being 1-shot), so you leave yourself very open to some random bs. It also has no effect on burning ground or similar effects which ES would block. Neither affect AoEs either, and Acrobatics for Evasion is a big hit if you don't stack it high. Block and Evasion are great for multihit, but with good Evasion you can already take Ghost Dance for good multihit protection.
Only seeing part of the skills. My question: do you use Gathering Storm?
Gathering Storm + Lightning Exposure + Overcharge + Strip Away is a good DPS boost.
Also make sure to use Conductivity, potentially with Cursed Ground Support if enemies stay somewhat in place.
Personally using Conductivity + Heightened Curse + Cursed Ground + whatever makes curse activate quicker.

Especially as 'to all elemental resistances' has all 3 elemental tags, so all 3 elemental qualities boost it by 20% as well. (15% becomes 18%, 16% becomes 19%)
Probably the thieves torment hurts your build, since it's only useful for mana-fixing IIRC.
Does your build work without the torment? Cause then you could shift resists on rings and then use Iron Runes instead of resist runes in ES pieces to get more ES.
how much accuracy rating do i need as a ranger?
It depends on whether you use the node with 'attackspeed per 250 accuracy rating'.
Else: whatever is needed for a ~100% hitrate at T16
yeah but how do you tell how much you need? it only shows 10% hit at 2m is useless for my ranger

Can someone please help me with proc'ing both Herald of Ice and Herald of Thunder?
- I've got cold damage on both rings, cold damage on my bow, cold damage on quiver
- HoIce: 3 slots
- HoThunder: 3 slots
Which gems should i put in to best proc both? Clearly i'm absolutely obliterating stuff with cold and shatter, but i rarely, if ever, see a lightning. Is stuff just not getting shocked?

It's based on the weapon type, not the number of hands you use to wield it
The weapon will say "one handed mace" or "two handed mace" at the top

- HoT is triggered by killing shocked enemies. I use Shocked Ground via Lightning Warp, Three Dragon Builds use Fire Damage.
- HoI specifically needs freeze. Some builds use Three Dragons to make Lightning Damage cause Freeze Buildup. I noticed for my build that my clear is good even with 'only' HoT.

so it definitely works against low level enemies, but in maps its just not triggering, and when it is, it's really infrequent
I am a advocate for Shocked Ground. Unless you are one of 2 enemy types or have the Expedition modifier of '100% chance to avoid being shocked', shocked ground shocks 100% every time all the time.
For Bow/Crossbow/Spark, Lightning Ball + Lightning warp works, for Qstaff Gathering Storm works well.
Also Shocked Ground can easily run Overcharge, as the ground duration already helps boost the Shock Duration.
thanks, i'll look into it - currently running a gas build with cold and ignite. My understanding is that it should trigger HoThunder with enough ice damage, and they do freeze and shatter (visually) - but HoThunder never procs against higher level enemies, only low level (tested in act1 non cruel vs maps)

If this the wrong channel to ask in let me know. I’m a gemling legionaire doing ssf and just picked up pillar of the caged hog at level 75 could I make a build around just that item or should I get hands of wisdom first/get other items first?
Pillar of the caged staff is a really good leveling strat even with out the gloves

If your build is capable of running t15 maps you will level pretty fast up until around lvl 90
i went from no jewel to this and all of my damage on every skill went down
90+ slows down significantly

Correct. But ES is almost vital. Even dex builds are saying to hybrid into ES for survivability

i think you can get enough ES with rest of the gear pieces to make up for it

I think it's mostly moot. If you don't stack evasion, I think it's gonna be hard to get enough to make qotf way better than 30/35 boots. So you end up with a lot of work for just slightly better boots. You could do it better by spending a lot, but not sure how worth that would be and it's outta my price point

its worth trying and see if ur damage is any good

The issue with Pillar, especially in SSF, is getting that flat dmg to start the scaling. It's basically a weaker Paradoxica from PoE1, where the weapon REALLY needs added damage to shine.

Sorc. 10k energy shield. Can take a hit. Capped resistances. passive that converts 40% of elemental dmg taken to energy sheild. I can handle the elements. Immune to Chaos dmg. The only time I seem to die is when a rare mob in a map hard ccs me for several seconds. Would it be worth it to give up a small bit of dmg for around 4k stun threshold and about 10k freeze threshold?... I am just not sure how effective freeze and stun threshold are...

If i have a level 16 gem that requires 97 dex and 97 int, then use a staff that ads plus 4 to it will the int and dex requirements go up. I know the mana requirement increases.

Today I explain to you the very difficult method to defeat the level 82 simulacrum with the Spark Stormweaver build. Here is the very complex method of how to achieve it; press the Spark button then wait.
by "travel" does it mean in any direction? Or specifically away from me? Spiral volley chains all over the place thats why im asking. And at what point does the increase reach 60%? Also does the buff go away after it hits the first enemy, or does it stay until the projectile is gone? Im dumb its not my fault 
- it measures the horizontal distance the projectile has travelled rather than distance from you, over the total lifetime of the projectile and persisting through things like pierce or chain
- it maxes out after 7 metres, and should really say that in the description so I'm gonna go add that now...

the only way you can get these vaal implicits is from a unique helmet called glimpse of chaos
it can be corrupted multiple times and has different corruption outcomes
one of those is to transform into another unique helmet and keep up to 2 of its vaal enchantments
so this specific helmet is pretty unique

Inspiration leads to DPS by allowing you to spend far fewer resources on solving mana

What is more important on staff for ice strike build, Elemental damage for attacks or melee skill level ?
Depends how high your increased elemental damage in passives are and whether you can cope with the Mana Cost of +skill levels
ES is the strongest defence in the game
Elemental damage, you don't want melee skills ever as it makes mana crazy
Arbiter, ritual boss but if I get hit by something huge that chunks me I can get my ES back in no time
is there a way to see my full combined character stats? the default sheet barely tells you anything
Assuming a +7 staff and +100% increased Elemental Damage:
- going from 20 Ice Strike to 27 Ice Strike means 47 Mana Cost becomes 105 and dmg changes from 203%/452% to 285%/638%.
- That mean it gets 40% stronger for double the mana cost.
- On the other hand, while your Increased damage (all added) are below 250%, a staff with over 100% increased elemental damage with attacks boosts your dps by over 40% at no additional cost.
The currency investment or skill point investment is to much to cope with the mana issues compared to just having elemental damage which matches it anyway
It's additive with other sources of increased damage though
Whereas levels are their own multiplicative axis, and quite strong to boot

- Not sure if I agree with them picking Patient Barrier. Would maybe cut everything after CI, could keep the jewel socket if you really need it, then move 3 points to Insightfulnes and 2 towards Shimmering.
- Then would cut Killer instinct and Tenfold Attack, freeing 5 points. 4 Towards Spectral Ward, 1 for One with the Storm (which makes Charged Staff better/last longer quicker).
If that is no longer your build, as you mention glaciation, would need the build we talk about instead. 😅

No evasion, energy shield, or armor. All energy shield is converted to mana via Eldrich Battery, and all damage is dealt to my mana before health via Mind Over Matter.
So I am working on a build in POB and am having trouble getting the DPS to reflect my burst damage on bosses. I am running a crit spark witch, with cast on critical and greater lightning bolt. So when I crit on a boss I am doing 20 million+ damage but POB full DPS is saying only 93k. Makes it hard to use POB to optimize further when I don't trust what it is saying about how nodes impact my DPS.
Current PoB has other limitations as well, most notably, shock magnitude calc errors

I've heard that they go down to -200%
But I think the general consensus is that if you go that route, armor will not save you, and you should instead just stack as much ES and life as you ever possibly can to not get one-shot by lightning damage
I believe there's also a node that makes lightning damage against you unlucky

I was reading a post and this is what someone commented on about Doryani's: "I've been experimenting with this interaction too, it feels like the negative resistance on the enemy has a much much much less multiplier effect on damage then when you have negative resistance. And the instant kill from enemies when we're 'using armor' on lightning damage might be just not negating the ailments so we negate the initial lightning damage but get instant shocked with -100 lighting res."

Current DPS calc is incorrect, it's 61k peak-DPS pre-shock and also pre-HOWA (HOWA would be the prime upgrade, as those cost like 1 div and give +50% DPS, but tried to make it a more budget build to begin with).
Gameplan against Bosses:
- Lightning Ball + Lightning Warp to apply Shocking Ground, making the enemies take 35% increased damage (= DPS is at 83k)
- Throw the Oil Grenade for 42% Fire Resist Strip
- Throw down Flamability for another 45% resist strip (which should make all enemies drop below 0 unless a map mod prevents curses)
- Throw down Flame Wall to guarantee Burn and fire through it for added damage per shot
- Unload Rapid Fire, which builds up 24 heat to reach 168% added fire damage

Hey, best would be to replace gaze with a rare amulet that has +3 spell/proj levels and +10-12% mana, keep eldritch battery and remove all +%ES nodes from your tree as they no longer do anything.
This means mana would be your only source of defense (with mind over matter), so usually this progression is recommended at at least 5k mana.

depends on gear but if it supports 2 sockets to start with, you can corrupt for a chance at 3rd socket

anyone know how Sormweaver's "Strike Twice" ability works? the way I read it it allows you to apply two shocks on an enemy, do those two shocks add their effect together or is the second shock an additional multiplier?

im not sure what you think this question means
gain as extra is additive with other sources of gain as extra
it applies after adding up flat damage, but before modifiers like #% more and #% increased damage
the upshot is that if you have a lot of modifiers that say #% increased/more Lightning Damage and not many that apply to cold, your final dps increase will be less than 5%, often significantly less so
if you have all #% increased elemental damage / #% increased spell/attack damage, from a base of no lightning gained as extra (depends on such things as archmage), you will get exactly 5% more damage
40% increased damage i would approximate to be like 8% more damage for the average build, so usually it would be better

Not sure why you want that, but manaflasks that drain your life can be used to bypass your own ES.
Also 3 socket on the weapon is a corruption result (corrupt a 2slot weapon, make sure to quality before corrupt). The items are based on what my character used around level 80ish and are an EXAMPLE set (with the exception of Morir and Atziri's).

It's a support gem that makes warcries apply a stacking debuff called corrupting blood. It does base physical damage per second equal to 25% of your strength and stacks up to 10 times.

No problem, it's a failed corrupt, so only 9% increased dmg instead of 10% neutral or 12% on a good corrupt, but you can still use it as an intemediate solution.
Hello seniors! im trying to make a build that focuses on the ignite effect from "Radiant Grief lace hood", and i'm starting to get stuck. Mainly because i cant tell which stats help scale it, does spell power for instance? i (Hope) that fire dmg does, which is what i've done so far, along with ignite magnitude. Any advice for what else to do to scale it up? (Im hoping to make a lol death aura)

It only launch 1 bone, I've seen it has a "Channeling" tag which is the cause of it's delay so reducing the skill duration isn't gonna affect it.
It actually makes it bad because it reduces the debuff towards the enemies

I remember it depends on HP. That's why there's so many passive that adds stun threshold based on Energy shield because there are builds that makes your energy shield much higher than your hp

I swear by stone charm, I have CI and nothing in the whole tree helping with stun. Maybe it’s just because I’m not usually at close range but that seems like enough to not die.
Radiant grief ignite is not enough damage to be your main source of damage
There's no way to add to the 100 base fire damage so it's impossible to scale well
It's usually used for exploding poison clouds

I havent specced into power charges since im playing hcssf now thats later points. I'm playing gemling, not stat stacking cause ssf.

FYI howa adds lightning damage to attacks. Sparks is a spell. In case you also have 'electeocuted enemies take 20% increased damage', kitokos wins hands down.
If sparks is just the side dmg and the main comes via e.g. Qstaff, then Howa wins, hands up.

Ok, so I finally got a ghostwrithe to drop in HC. Is there anything special I should take into account while using it? Its a lot of good base ES but I'm rolling a Ranger so there's not a lot of ES nodes unless I move up to the Monk nodes. Should I try and get max life rolls on my other gear? Should I try and explicitly move up to ES nodes to make the most of it?
not sure what you're playing exactly but I don't think you want it longterm, and so I wouldn't try to target it
