That's because ignite is an ailment with magnitude depending on initial hit. Essence drain simply applies a debuff of dot
crit matters for gas clouds since the ailment is based on the hit that applied it

Yeah. We don't know the exact numbers or anything yet but most tests seem to show diminishing returns post ~130%.

there's no such thing as "lucky hit". It will say exactly what is made lucky

What lasagnaman said. If it's a lucky hit, normally a hit rolls a random number between a range - but lucky will roll it twice and pick the greater number

all conversions happen simultaneously, so if you have other effects that convert to (or gain as) lightning damage, you would still do lightning dmg

It's just technicality. The hit rolls the dice. In these "lucky" instances the hit is rolling the damage twice
chance to hit, crit, chance for ailments, chance for on hit effects, etc are also part of "the hit". None of those things are made lucky by Perfect Opp

I read your link and was hoping for some clarification so that I make sure I get this. If I'm using Charged Staff which deals lightning damage, along with Call of the Brotherhood, it will deal cold and not be able to shock. However, if I use Innervate with this which says "Attacks Gain 35% of Damage as Lightning Damage", this addtional gain is not counted in the conversion from Call of the Brotherhood. Meaning that the shock chance exists, but is 75% less potent (in this example). Is this correct?

No, your mana starts at 0. You need to stop casting for it to empty out, or mitigate the damage so you can cast without waiting

it applies to your flat damage, then inc. modifiers apply
if all your inc. / more modifiers only apply to lightning, the extra cold damage won't be increased very much

No, the 588 is 6% of your max or whatever the gem says it adds

Well lets take galvanic shards as an exaple. It converts phys dmg to lightning. So to scale the damage, a higher phys dmg weapon would do it, and so would increased lightning damage, but not increased physical damage, correct?
And furthermore, "added 10 fire damage" would simply be added on top of the damage calculation, but it wouldnt scale in any meaningful way, correct?

Yeah, the phys part of the damage is scaled by increased phys, and the lightning after conversion is only scaled by increased lightning

Dad gamer here with limited time for my own theory crafting these days. I’ve tried a stampede build but just don’t like the style. Are there any other build guides out there that anyone knows about and can point me to? I really liked the stun boneshatter build but stun buildup appears to be a sticking point in endgame.
I found a new chest piece only problem it does not have evasion on it. But it is pretty good, I have currently 1266 shield and 12k evasion (82%) if I swap the chest piece I go to 5k evasion (67%) but 2828 energy shield. I am running CI do you think its worth or not?

even at +100% speed you're only going from .6 seconds to .3 seconds. I guess if you swap very often, thats worthwhile
You should've tested with a Merc, his cluster is right near the start and gives like 80% total
maybe if you're working in a tempest bell set up on some future fast hitting sword or axe build
and dont want to wait 1.2 seconds to swap to staff and back

Hello everyone. I am having some concerns on my build. I use sorcery ward with my build and take zealous inquisition. However, I find that I struggle to keep up sorcery ward when doing alters. I’m at 90. And I play on console so sometimes I deal with lag spikes.
I don’t have HOWA or the belt. So I made my build without ES. I was thinking about taking Ceremonial Absolution. With Sorc Ward I gave 73% dodge. But it does help me A LOT. I run a galvanic plasma blast variant.
Is there any other suggestions I could take to help my character not die during swarms? I can provide more info if needed. It’s my first time playing a poe game.
I don’t run any uniques. I can do T16++ if I take my time but when it comes to alters… man, it’s a hit or miss.

these are the nodes id like to eventually have so with there being the upside down pickaxe for the 2h damage close to the 3% max life node i wondered if it would have been better to path just to the right of the max element nodes to save on points but then the trade off would be a sub optimal jewel slot. i didnt circle the rage because id focus that last with any points
because i was lacking damage and i had all those starting damage nodes but i respecced so i could get the 2 lot of nodes in this pic and i had 1 spare so stuck it in that damage one in preperation to get the notable again then i saw the area damage bundle very close so i stopped and gonna refund that single one to put it next to this single one
the small passives are higher % than those starting ones so more overall damage

If i am about to choose to convert all my energy shield into mana, why would i take nodes that increase energy shield, when that bonuses dont work while converting?

it splits all ur elemental damage into the three types
not super useful for scaling
but the resistances rolls are solid for early on
If you deal 100 fire, you deal 33 fire, 33 cold, and 33 lightning (and i think the last point either goes to the base damage or is obliterated)

ok, someone please help me understand how plasma blast is working, I'm going crazy over here
We have here plasma blast with
- no supports
- scatter shot (20% less speed)
- martial tempo (25% more speed)
- SS + MT (should cancel out)
Assuming the +2s attack time is in fact unmodifiable, that means the "base attack time" is .27, which goes to .38 with scatter shot and .22 with martial tempo. Furthermore, we do see that SS + MT cancel each other out, recovering the original .27 attack time.
But Martial tempo does seem to give 25% more attack speed, but scattershot (alone) seems to be giving almost 30% less attack speed, not 20%?

anyone observed if active blocking with Raise Shield, allows ES recharge delay to build up? or do the ticks reset the ES recharge delay
after rigorous testing I've come to a definitive conclusion on what's the best defense. It's placebo. Marginally less effective than ES, but requires zero stat and gear investment. More consistent than block or dodge, and somehow gives better DR than armor 😭

I've noted that flat phys dmg on a weapon gets added to the base before %increased phys on the weapon is calculated. But only this flat phys is local correct? Instances on gloves/rings/quiver do not count?
they all count the same as base flat on a weapon
it all gets added up, and that's your base damage before modifiers
So if my weapon is 100% increased physical, my 1-4 phys from my ring is 2-8?

im sure lightning is just fine, depends on what you like doing. You have all the freedom in the world to play lightning
lightning is perfectly fine. In fact I'd say I've seen more lightning monks than frost. It's hard to tell the exact spread, but people play both fine

once i got ice strike i used that until shattering palm i think its called. then used bell and charged strike. theres a keystone to make power charges easy with that aura that gives frenzies. shattering palm teleports you and ice strike just traverses you to every mob around you its broken af
im also satisfied how amazing charged staff is, tempest bell and tempest furry are just broken
i think i will stay with lightning for now, i think there is no wrong way if you go lightning or cold

invoker is in a really good spot to be honest. dont cheat yourself and use a guide unless youre struggling
also, apparently your copy from that skill is counted as a minion. Allegedly. I don't know what to do with that information yet, but I bet there's some fun and cheeky way to exploit that

anyone know what affects the attack recovery for grenades? i hate having to slow down so much after the grenades already been launched
it's super consistent on bosses. As you only need to dodge roll like twice to be topped up on charges, because bosses destroy illusions pretty much with any attack
Freeze damage isnt far behind and it's just an amazing defensive layer for melee. Chill will auto freeze, but shock doesn't auto electrocute without skills.

but you can't freeze bosses that often
lingering illusion will keep you full on charges in any boss fight
best part about illusion is that it's essentially passive charge gain. You have to do nothing special at all. If you find yourself completely overpowered in some insane high tier map situation and you start rolling the fuck out of there by the time you're clear your charges are full and you're ready to go back in

If a damage deals 100 damage for example 80% goes to energy shield and 20% goes to life

TIL that if you have a second weapon set JUST for curses, but have a "Cast on x" active for it, you can fire something like an Arc, switch to cast conductivity, and trigger a Cast on Shock from the arc you fired before CoS was activated.
anyone know how Culling Strike interacts with Overkill? does damage past the culling strike threshold be considered the overkill?
if culling strike activates, the damage it "would have dealt" is irrelevant and overkill is skipped. instead of dealing damage, it flips the mob into 'dead' mode without dealing damage
the game logic is a bit inconsistent with this, but it's known that you can't overkill with culling strike
just wanted to ask, there's no point in casting the vulnerability curse if the enemy is already armor broken right?
does anyone know how shattering concoction would work without widowhail in ssf?
