But there might be evasion for the spell to land, not sure
I guess it's more in line with ailment defense
My problem so far with evasion and 1500 life, 0% armour is that when I get hit I can get one shot by trivial shit
get the unique that gives you 50% chance to dodge death
So when you dont dodge that 1hitting attack, you still have chance to just shrug it off

how are people managing dual attribute builds like some gems require str+dex to equip, so your build is investing into both str+dex - but then gear with str+dex means armour+evasion - isn't it hard to balance out this two defense layer? like ranger go full on evasion. warrior full on armor
because the value of base items with dual attribute are also split - so theoretically you're getting 50/50 armour/evasion

Do you guys know how the affix tier roll works?
For example, bows can roll two additional arrows at item level 82, once a bow has this ilvl and that affix is chosen to be rolled for, will it roll 0-82 and only roll for two additional arrows if the rng returns 82 or does it add the two options (+1 arrow or +2 arrows) to a pool and then it's 50%/50% each?
One way would mean it has around 1% to have that affix and the other mean it's 50% for that ilvl

This is important because it can decide the odds of a tier to roll. In a less obvious example, if I want to roll for a stat and the ilvl is just shy for it, it wouldn't matter because the odds of getting it is the same as it was a higher lvl.
This ascension is so peak it gave me 50 spirit 💀💀

Yes. But I'm leaned towards the hypotheses that rolls are made using the ilvl and not using a pool of possibilities of tiers.
For example, there are some stats that the last tier is pretty low in ilvl, such as projectile speed on quiver. Thus from what I've seen, it's very likely to a high ilvl quiver to have it at a high tier. Opposed to that, tiers of MS on boots are more spread towards higher ilvls, and for this reason is more rare to have high rolls
im not playing minion until they fix blocking, pathing, formation and despawning

the armour is going to defend against lightning with the unique body armour
so my defense is: armour, fire res, cold res.
there's also a helm with negative lightning res but gives "Your chaos resistance is zero". i'll figure out the chaos res later

if i go full str. my accuracy might be too low. not sure how bad it is for galvanic shards - it's pretty short range though
Focus on int as you go, its cheap to rework small attribute nodes in to another attribute as needed

the dps tooltip is also quite useful. i know some conditional stats don't apply but it's still pretty good

The only weird thing is that heft and its cousins go in a weird spot, preconversion
but also a few elemental/fire % boosts are needed to magnify those raw numbers

As mercenary you start in the strength/Dex zone any weapons of those attributes will do well
Anything outside will be harder
If you click the right arrow to expand the skill, you can find the accuracy in the slam tab
And yes, accuracy or resolute technique is absolutely vital for shockwave totem builds

To get a 100% fire conversion, on my mace witch I'm using avatar of fire, but it'll only get me 75%, how do I make it for the 100%? With fire/elemental damage nodes? Or there's another way?

I heard if you are using a skill that already has partial conversion to fire like molten blast, they add up. Don't quote me on this tho!
if my skill says "converts 70% of physical damage to cold damage" and my weapon has high physical damage and "leech % of physical damage as mana", will I leech mana? do I even deal physical damage with that skill?
without any other info, yes you deal 30% of dmg as phys and this portion leeches mana
however check the gem overview its displayed there

What are people doing for t6+ merc survivability. My buddy is getting popped rn. I haven't had a chance to look at his stuff but he is almost res capped. Not sure if he is going for evasion hoping to go for acrobatics or just straight armor/life

To answer your question fully, look at the tags on the gem (it should be grey words right under the name) if one of them is "spell" then yes cast speed applies
But I just double-checked and it doesn't have that tag, so it doesn't apply, it's just an attack. You would want reduced skill duration to make it fall fast from when you call it down or attack speed to increase how fast you call it

Just try things out! A lot of folks will tell you exactly what's good and bad, but if you're only in act 3, some advice isn't relevant since you're not deep into the endgame
If there’s a way to mitigate ele damage with block and or armor I’d say go for it
maybe want to mitigate about 20-30% of ele damage to compensate for no resists
fair , i tried making my lightning merc without looking at guides so it took a while to get it right
I was referring to gem levels, you can get +7 gem levels on a max roll on two-handed weapons (on a high ilvl weapon), so two of them would give you +14, and with an amulet and gloves you can get +17 gem levels

I recently learned that modifiers with "increased" are additive, while "more" modifiers are multiplicative. However, I’m still unsure about some things, especially when it comes to figuring out where certain numbers come from. Here are my main questions:

For example, if a skill shows "103% attack damage," 103% of what? Is it based on my weapon's base damage? -

I’m playing a warrior, and the skill Stampede is tagged as both Melee and Slam. Since Slam is a Melee attack, does taking a perk that increases Melee Damage apply twice—once for the Melee tag and once for the Slam tag—or do they simply count as one? -

If I’m using a mace and melee skills, does this kind of perk provide a global increase to all my melee skills? Or does it only affect specific things?

You can shock up to 20% and you can increase magnitude of shock but I don't think you can double shock @urban vessel

And if you want facts/proof, youre probably going to have to test it yourself. But if it was per ally, that'd be wayyyy to op for minion builds

I'd say demon bite is likely the worst due to lack of cast speed. But if you're struggling with sustaining your mana, maybe cast speed is a bad thing

Yes, armor should apply to elemental damage from hits, but I’d warn you that elemental non-hit damage, such as effects like fire walls could potentially ruin you since armor only applies to hits. Neat idea though

the damage reduction formula for armor relies on the magnitude of the incoming hit, i.e. if there's only damage over time then i don't think armor will work
Armor only applies to hits, physical degen effects aren’t hits. Making armor apply to elemental damage won’t change the fact that it only applies to hits. It would need to say that

Life stacking crit blood mage. Interesting! Yeah go for it. If that doesn’t work, you might try dropping the helm and using Koam’s heart for a sweet 1000hp
Plasma is pretty darn cool, but that delay plus the narrow beam is gonna be rough. Maybe there’s a good combo for exploding bosses though

My first merc went explosive strike+multiple projectiles and stacked reload and attack speed for comfort with a bit of increased aoe. A bit of a glass cannon, but it trivialized content all the way to tier 10 or so

Worth testing, but unlikely since it didn’t do that in poe1. There are plenty of subtle changes though so possible. Increased aoe increasing hexblast also seems like the play, but increased curse aoe tends to have higher numbers to compensate

Turns you energy shield into mana, combine with the other one where you take damage from mana first, end your mana turns into a defensive barrier
Use both- now your es replenishes even if you’re getting hit and you have way more mana regen

It’s a big change though. Getting a couple rings with 150+ mana and adding some regen would also help fix your mana issues for less trouble

If you use the ring that make ignite deal chaos dmg it's funny like the gas grenade proc it's explosion itself which can proc ignite and stuff which scales with chaos dmg like the gas grenade. I think it would be bad though

Mine went straight down to the %increased stat node, then around the left on the quickest route to the important notable, straight right to eldritch battery, then up into the mana notables, then the lightning ones nw of there. You could go around the right instead if you want, but I like having shield nodes to block with

I'm currently dual wielding 2handers for +7 to melee skills with a molten strike totem build. Just starting t15s and certain waystone mods are really rippy, so I'm theorycrafting switching to shield (which would come with a significant dps loss)

it's was a bit of an up and down for me until crue or so after which I ramped into absolute fuck and started killing everything in an electrocute stun
keep your support gems up to date and get OoS for bosses it really helps a shitload

for me normal mobs it was always between spammming LA and spamming OoS + rod, sometimes one was pulling ahead and then the other one did

the skill gathers stacks as you dont cast it, and upon first cast it triggers all the gathered stacks worth of that spell
IE you slap it to fireball, wait until it stacks and then cast it once and it shoots 3 or so fireballs

What do you folks think about manually casting flame wall+RS vs doing cast on minion death? My main concern is that aiming the flame walls allows them to buff the arsonist projectiles so I like placing it myself.

i hope it works because without it thorns feels WAAAYYY undertuned, like completely useless
i fee like its only good if you have maxxed fire resistance but not other resistance and maxed chaos resistance, otherwise as an energy shield enjoyer id rather take the physical damage instead of chaos which does double to shields
we are talking sub 200 average damage with perfect thorn rolls on gear
without modifiers from passives
maybe it's only viable when you invested a lot into it, some build are only okay after a certain point

Well, they kind of expect you to have beefed fire res considering infernal flame is a mechanic (even though it sucks.) I think the entire right half of the tree aside from hellhound is very poor in comparison.
