Example item bases:
Sacrificial Mantle
lvl ?75?, 86 str/int
283 arm, 84 ES
Wayfarer Jacket
lvl 70, 86 dex/int
223 eva, 84 ES
```the lvl reqs are not reliable since the modifiers may have raised them.
Alright thank you, I guess we'll just have to wait
If nothing else changes, then it does work the same way for damage as extra
Increases to damage would apply either before the extra damage is calculated , in which case your increases to cold damage would impact your Extra Chaos damage gained from cold skills
Or they would apply after in which case increases to cold damage wouldsn't apply to extra damage gained from cold skills
but increases to chaos damage would
I myself think it will probably be the former since it's a bit more streamline with Extra Damage just being bagged on top of the final calculation
as one of the last hit calculations
but unless we hear from GGG specifically we can't say for sure
damage as extra is applied before increase/more in poe1
so until we hear otherwise, that's the default
it won't work as damage as extra probably
It's why Extra Damage is capitalized
which means it';s a whole new separate thing
and they said they abandoned the conversion chain
Good to know. The level difference might bring the values a little closer, but it does look like armour numbers are a little higher. Which is kind of weird to me
for example gain damage as extra applied to all underlying damage types
which doesn't happen to extra damage
so increases to phys in phys to cold skill when you gain Extra Chaos damage
won't work
Not sure what the benefit of changing the scale is but expecting evasion/accuracy formula to take it into account anyway.
poe1 extra damage is capitalized too
oh that's true
is this current arctic armour or is it the one in poe2db?
The one that only deals damage without reducing dmg taken is newer.
This isn't really relevant except that most Damage as extra looks at all damage now instead of one specific type (Herald of Ash looking only at phys damage in poe1)
still considering they made it so increases to damage apply only after conversion
lmao so it's useless gotcha
Probably used too widely by everyone. 😉
It does seem quite niche now.
i would expect extra damage to also possibly be changed
i mean yeah i'd figure so, so far there isn't a single defensive buff
it's very relevant
This one is definitely outdated, poe2db one is newer but probably also outdated
Hi im completely new to POE, does anyone have a link to a minion build that I can follow? level up tree was really overwelming for me in poe 1
because you could gain extra from every step of the conversion chain
There are many spirit gems we never got the tooltips of. They are not looking to repeat Grace/Determination though.
that was the whole point of eternity shroud builds
download not out yet for pc?
There is no build you can follow for poe2
Like I said damage as extra is a conversion effect, this new rule applies to it
rip my boy armour stacker
I'm probably coping here but I like to believe "as extra" means it will consider the full damage dealt of the original element and deal it as x% (potentially increased by modifiers on the new type ?) While "gain x% damage as" (without mentionning as extra) would only consider the base damage.
In any case I have to say this is pretty confusing
A multiplier that helps you specialize is possible, just not big flat number.
Abandoning the conversion chain opened up letting damage as extra apply to all damage vs just one damage type. It would be absolutely bonkers to let it apply after increased/more multipliers
yeah we are speculating about pretty in depth mechanics of a game which we can't even predownload yet
It would be even more free than it is in poe1
so it's really hard to say what it will be and what possible impacts it will have
Why ? It would just mean getting Extra Damage of the element you are not specced for
isn't useless
as extra damage was super free in PoE1 because of the conversion chain
so you could get like 400% of total damage as extra chaos
guys don't forget that all the info we have comes from different times
yeah you're not specced for it but it still scales since your increased/more mods already applied. So there's no downside to not speccing into the damage type
so it's also possible they just started with one wording and changed to the other after but not all our info is using the most recent wording
You shouldn't be dealing a ton of fire damage with only investment in phys
You're not getting a ton tho
It's true but otherwise it would end up being relatively weak IMO
you seem to get around 20% per ascendancy point
which is in line with what we can expect
it's not easily available
Titan has 20% more every other slam, 20% chance of double damage on slams, and 40% more on heavy stunned enemies
Those have actual requirements beyond the ascendancy points
An also damage specifically stating "as extra" is only found in very few places from what we could see, mostly ascendencies
20% more damage on all attacks, no investment for an ascendancy is way stronger in this case
Did you just... put all ascendancy points into offense? 😁
WTF, I didn't notice that aftershock is the same damage..... I assumed it was like 50%
We're getting way more generic damage on tree to accomadate for all of this
I'm giving examples of the damage an ascendancy can give
And comparing to the chayula monk damage as extra
Only thing we can do
Ok. There was a thread that tried to summarize them here btw. https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/1h6g31h/analyzing_some_offensive_ascendancy_nodes/
likelihood of hulking form nerf? wdyt team
You'd still be able to focus almost exclusively on attack damage and quarterstaff damage to be sure (?) to double dip
I've been build planning a monk for like 2 weeks, and it's still going to be so hard not to click warrior on login
right ?
8ball says YES
im thinking going minion warrior just for that node, but rip if endgame and gets nerfed into the ground
feels so weird trying to plan a tree with no life nodes
I hope we can put the Sceptre in the main, weapon in the off. Or have complex weapon swap options. I'd like to go from Sceptre+Shield to Mace+Sceptre.
I'm not convinced it'll get nerfed. For 4 ascendancy points it better be good
It's been confirmed that you can put sceptre in main. Or off-hand when main is full. Just not dual wield them.
do we know if spell crit everytime for its whole duration if it crit in poe 2?
I think people might underestimate the backpack QoL
we don't have 6 portals anymore
if we live we do
probably yes, the only thing confirmed to roll crit multiple times atm is rain of arrows, and I could see other stuff that consumes charges for extra hits doing the same like flicker
no supposedly they done away with snapshotting
wait really ? I thought you only go in once
oh that's nice
Where did we see that?
i saw someone here say it
Nah it's just that you fail the map if you die
I think you can still use 6 portals to haul loot back and forth, but all of them disapear if you die
that's not snapshotting
Whether a skill rolls crit once for its duration, or once per hit, is something they adjust per skill.
Yeah, but can you go Sceptre main, weapon off? So your weapon swap is between shield and weapon with 100% Sceptre uptime.
Yeah snapshot is not the best word
any info on accuracy? is it gonna be a problem for melee skills or not really?
wait we can't dual weild scepters?
No you degenerate.
Sad
You just want MOAR MINIONS.
minion maxxing fr
actually opens up a lot more options tbh in terms of skills
was writing off a lot because couldn't use the required weapon without nuking a bunch of spirit
so much room for activities
can't use sceptre with a crossbow
I said real weapon.
giants blood lets go
is crossbow considered 2 handed?
ya
There a way (that we currently know of) to convert a portion of physical damage into Cold damage?
Do you get a quiver/ bolt slot or something, or is it true 2 hand
You still have chonk with crossbow in mind?
No, I was just saying if I did play chonk I would probably do crossbow or bow
Not that I will do that
There's a support gem for attacks that adds some, which is technically better though it might annoy perfectionists.
My main plan is Invoker but I don't know if the setup works mechanically or if it has been nerfed so if that doesn't work I'll probably do warbringer or infernalist
do we know approx how many passive points we'll have?
122
anyone has an idea if ballista will be a support gem or skill gem ?
We don't have the actual effect text for Herald of Ice
at 100 i guess?
Do you think we will get a Hearld of Ice in later installments, closer to actual release?
it's in EA
rly want to try ember fusillade but cant put together a reasonable build for it
Only 1 day to find out
Oh really?
I'm expecting we get it tomorrow, we just don't 100% know what it does. 😐
I'll consider it a win anyway. Thanks for the info.
weapon swap, my friend
how does X damage gain as X damage work? example gain 20% damage as lightning, 100 fire gain as 20 lightning, then the lightning receive all the modification?
What's your Invoker setup look like?
Discussion has happened twice within past 4 hours but end result is we don't know. 😁
Was it the EI trigger build?
gotcha
there are definitely some skill gems that are their own type of ballista. unsure if there is a support in EA but i would expect one eventually if not
weapon swapping off sceptre doesn't let you reserve the spirit tho
yes
but will return when swapped back
ok but it doesn't matter if the point of the crossbow is to generate energy for meta gems reserved with the spirit
doesnt weapon swapping reset all your stored energy ?
I doubt it, that would be really stupid
unless the skill gets unreserved because you swapped off something giving you spirit
Guys kind of a noob question here, but if I wanted to use chaos skills as a chayula monk in the future, do I need to keep that in mind at the start? I noticed there isn't many chaos skills at the start, so do I just use elemental ones until I get up?
if neccesary, yeah
if you know you're going to go chaos dont pick up too much ele dmg on the tree if just going to respec that
see what's avaliable at the gemcutting menu and adapt
Gotcha thank you.
Also look for more generic damage nodes like attack damage or spell damage (depending on what type of chaos skill you're using) so that you can still get some damage before swapping
Also very possible we willhave nodes like viper fang's or w/e that node is in poe1 that has phys and chaos together on the node
do we know if we can use unarmed strikes regardless of weapons equipped?
Anyone interested in minion builds, check out GhazzyTV. He just posted a video on his starting plan, might be some good info
I would assume no, otherwise everyone would just do whispers of doom palm of chayula
for Invoker Monk is the Spells that shoot out projectile damage or no
most have quarterstaff in the gem
Yea same, I think I may respec later down if I go hardcore chaos on chayula monk. I should be feasible to balance ele damage by focusing on attack damage increases but this kinda closes the door on spells
on crit, yeah
I think the cold one is?
Kirvin wanna see my progress ? i might have a good grasp for Invoker Monk
sure?
??
should be this, no?
you have 449 nodes allocated
At level 100 you'll have 122 points, I would make a plan with ~90 at most
i see -- ill wait then to see what Mobalytics has
Eventually poe2 tree apps will also be unable to fit everything into one URL like poe1, so minifiers or pastebins will be needed and there will be peace in discord.
Question: will we have to kill every boss to get all the bonus rewards on every character?
Or are those account bound eventually?
as far as we know yes, although I'm hoping we'll be able to skip them in campaign and get the bonus from map versions later for alts
They are character bound
So get used to killing all of em on every Character
Some people are convinced we can get them from map bosses later but I haven't been able to find original source.
I hope this changes by the time we get into the League cycles. It will not be fun having to go kill every boss on the map on every character every league and will definitely stifle rerolling
Bro I think you should really not skip out of the stun resistance nodes early on. Monk will probably be pretty cool to play but I'd wager not that fun to get stunned all the time
Well overleveling and then speedrunning the areas will probably be a thing, but movespeed is low and zones will be very large so it might just be a PITA yeah. I remember basically every streamer complaining LE campaign zones felt way too big to walk through and it felt really bad, getting the same vibes from PoE campaign zones
Giving how much people hate the campaign on PoE 1 I will hope they learnt not to make us suffer
But they have been trying their best to make the campaign fun instead of a way to bypass it
My plan is to link Arctic Armor to all the freeze buildup supports so anybody who attacks me gets frozen
Who knows what the vision will be
PoE2 campaign likely going to be far worse
yeah cuz LE was a walk in a park tbh
Definitely longer but size isn't everything guys!
we will definitely suffer, but not from boredom-- i think the gameplay will be quite engaging even at lower lvls
More repetitive doing the same 3 acts 2 times, way slower movement speed there's so much time just walking through empty screens at base movespeed. So many mandatory side objectives. Need to run it every time you want to try a new ascendance instead of being able to swap.
I think having those bonuses be account bound and the bonus applies to every character you make in that league encourages more rerolling and replay potential
no way minion pact support works on ci right
it'd be the biggest damage support by far lul
There's a good example from Alkaizer's gameplay where he's just walking through empry rooms for 40sec in one area
at base movespeed
it's SO SLOW
I really think they should add a movespeed buff out of combat
it doesn't, because it takes into account your total maximum life, CI is only applied at the end of the calculations, you could have 2k real maximum life while having CI for example
huh is this a new thing?
just automatically apply it out of combat yeah
But if you get hit you stun
no it's always been like that in poe1
that's a weird tech i've never heard of tbh
let me find the quote
why would minion pact not work on CI?
"The chance and duration of both being stunned and receiving an elemental status ailments is based on your base life before CI takes effect. Maximum Life modifiers such as increased maximum Life, reduced maximum Life, etc. apply to the life before CI is applied. Since this base life value is then overwritten by CI, the only advantage life modifiers provide to a CI character is the reduction on stun and status ailment."
Do you think lightning monk or giga stun titan will be more fun guys?
yes
so because of how that calculation works, minion pact should take into account your real life value, as opposed to 1
Interesting
If I put comet in cast on freeze, can I then support that comet with gems in that slot?
You should be able to yes
Dope ty
No?
why would it be different than stun/ailment?
It sounds like stun/ailment thresholds are specifically coded that way so you don't get get permastunned as CI, why would minion pact work that way?
Why would it work that way
Unarmed skills need either an empty hand or a quarterstaff
Maximum Life modifiers such as increased maximum Life, reduced maximum Life, etc. apply to the life before CI is applied
because of this
yeah but this is for the purposes of ailments that's known
but things that just take your maximum life have never done that
Minion Pact isn't a max life modifier....
Unarmed won't be available right now
forbidden rite for example doesn't do your hidden maximum life as damage
It will come later
You do realize there are other things that work on a % of your maximum life and with CI that value counts as 1 right?
Like RF
Like there will be some unarmed stuff but not supported well
what happens if you have no weapon in the slot then? doesn't count?
Stun/Ailment threshold are coded so that you don't get super fucked with a threshold value of 1 damage
Hand of chayula still seems good tho
so for Frost Monk
sure if it ends up working like RF, but minion pact + CI looks quite broken then
but things that operate on your max life for CI count your max life as 1 otherwise
for the 122 points what should i go after
yea that's my point
Cold and crit
We don’t have the full tree
"quite broken" it just means CI gets 1 above average support if they have minions
And whatever source of damage you will be using
it's 40% still right
as far as we know
So it will be different for spells and staff attacke
I mean sure it's strong but not "broken"
spell echo on trigger builds looks like 100% more damage
you get a 2nd copy of the spell and you don't get the downside
damn
the copy also gets 30% more AOE
and cost multiplier doesn't increase energy?
doubt it
if it does then it's 50% more energy, but idk
it'll be interesting if it does I guess
i think energy is based on cast time
wait energy is based on cast time
so it's still 30% less cast speed
so more energy
I'm still curious on how supports work on trigger gems.
If they support the trigger gems
Or they support the gem socketed within the trigger gem
energy is based on base cast time
p sure jonathan said meta gems dont cost extra energy with supports
not after mods
hm yeah makes sense
the mana spent on the triggered spell does though
The first they showed off trigger was probably barrier invocation, comet, spell echo 😉
otherwise cast speed would be stupid
exactly
then i guess my cold ignite build could use cast on freeze comet now that i think about it
Comet is also balanced around having +1s to total cast time so triggering comet is very strong
it's not no
I want to see a Facebreaker drop on my monk so I can play One Punch Man
elemental invocation comet invoker LOGIN
if it was base it would get reduced by cast speed
Yeah this is my leaguestarter lol
that's kinda... op
same!
well you lose one socket so not really op but still
I'm so excited to play with Ele Invocation
mind your mana though, you still pay the triggered cost
Although I'm waiting to find out if elemental invocation is nerfed to only get energy once per skill or not
yeah, thankfully i have to manually activate it, will also switch to caster weapon with it
Remember weapon swap has a cast time
definitely using inspiration support and taking the reduced mana cost nodes on tree
Does inevitble critical make the cluster grenade always crit as you have a 10 second cooldown or how does this work?
it only goes up to 200% increased crit max
this support completely flew by me, def gonna use this too
nerfed to 100% recently, 25% per second
But if you use this along ambush, arent you alwasy cirtting on first hit?
if your crossbow has 10% crit chance it will give it +10% (after nerf I guess)
It will triple your crit rate, but a lot of things have base crit rates of 12% or more so you can probably get it quite high and treat it like a cooldown skill
100% more is just x2
so 10% crit wep, with 100% increased and 100% more is 40%
i think i might have gotten it
Unbound Avatar looks interesting
only
Only planning for level 100
well whats the max lvl for EA
100
100
ok then im set
btw this is a prototype build I made #2┃build-planning message
based
huh Sprout
just to be perfectly clear, it's 102 + 20pts you can spec elsewhere, or 122 in one spec right ?
Getting to level 100 takes a WHILE and you should not plan for it
you put more than 122
reaching 100 is very very very endgame and not something you really plan around
you should plan builds for the level 70-80 range at the start
I never played POE1, but what should i expect my crit chance to be if i build into crit (not going too crazy but be one of the things i build for) are we talking 20% crit at endgame on my weapon so essentially i could have 60% crit chance or can i get to 40-50%?
i put 122 points in
no clue, depends on build and they also said you should expect to get less crit in poe2 so we don't really know what it will be like
this is dependent on what you're critting with even, spells have a base crit chance, attacks use weapons (iirc)
Poison Sunder for instance is probably 100% crit
I’ve played almost 2k hours in poe1 and I have a single level 99 character and 0 level 100 characters. Just for reference
same lol
thank u, i was just about to ask if u had any setup with ele invocation
Got a level 99 from heist and a few 97/98s
I play HC though otherwise I would probably have some 100s
ok 1 question then - if i were to remove some points to then fit the ascendancy points in
How many hours to get to 100? rough estimate? Thats cool to know, as D4 is my background and i know it was essentially a requirement ot hit 100
we've seen lvl 90 staff. Hopefully levels are slow only after that.
to have the 122 points (including the ascendency)
Ascendancy points are extra
ascendancy points are separate from the 122 passive points
oh ok
We don't know, in PoE1 98.2 is the halfway point to 100 or something IIRC
It’s 122 passive skill points + 8 ascendency points. You get your ascendency points separately from leveling
Do we know if item filters are the same as poe1?
I figured it would be 1 per level, where do the other 22 come from?
but like the other person was saying, plan your build around being functional with ~100-110 points allocated into the base tree, not 122. then those extra points if/when you get them are just cherries on top
No filterblade for 2-4 weeks
you taking unbound avatar with protect me from harm on the ascendancy tree?
If it’s the same as poe1 there will be quests that grant points
That's gonna be god damn rough this next week
Just pick up everything bro
probably not, seeing as my energy generator is incendiary shot and it always ignites so unbound would just be a 50% uptime damage boost. I'm taking the 35% more energy and probably chilled ground I think? Idk might change
There's not gonna be enough items to need a filter until you hit the endgame at the very least.
you have a lot of wasted points
ok what should i do then Kirvin
Welcome to Anarchy league, everybody! We go back in time.
also spell stuff doesn't do anything for minions
wiped the board then
Picking up six portals of yellows , bringing in stacks of wisdoms to ID everything. Good times.
crit stuff also doesn't do anything for minions unless it says minion crit
basically if it doesn't say minion it doesnt work on minions
What is electrocute?
idk if its just a visual bug with the site or what not but it also looks like you have every ascendancy point picked, just fyi in case - you only get 8 points total in there
lightning stun basically
Lightning CC ailment like freeze and stun
anyone have sauce on dark effigy
anyone going chayula monk? chonk? if so what skill
yeah probably and good question lol, probably whatever has a good base attack speed
tempest flurry maybe
i dont have all of the Ascendency points
maybe the ice one
How much recoup should a Person aim for to make Recoup worth it?
Contagion + Essence drain
only 4 and then the 8 that arent major points
Also btw guys do we have info on wether or not it's possible to stack a stun and a freeze on the same monster. Or more important can I build up stun on a frozen monster and vice versa ?
I wanna try charged staff Invoker but dunno how to generate power charges properly D:
Recoup is over 8 seconds I heard, looks pretty bad unless ur chronomancer imo
does ED even scale off of this?
I am planning on going Chrono Recoup lawl.
It does
no
even then i just dont vibe with it as a source of recovery tbh
?
where did they confirm dot works with damage gained as
Shouldn't it do that?
We dont know. DoTs seem to be worded differently
I mean, Chonk seems to be the only one scaling chaos damage... would be sadge if it does not scale
and plus if u look at my thing - none of my skills i put in have detrimental losses for minions - i have the fire spell bases boons and the minion boons all even
that one does not specify it has to be a hit though. This one does.
I think they'll let attack/spell dots benefit from attack/spell increases because there are no known damage over time modifiers in the tree. That's speculation though.
And.. running around while waiting for you dots do the work is like THE collector build 😄
so Kirvin what exactly do u see that is becoming a hindrance to the build
Fellas, if I have the infernalist node that makes any damage ignite
ember fusillade
Charged Staff in the poe2skills site has the spell tag, i wonder if the added damage it does gets buffed by archmage then
and use a cold damage skill, do i scale cold damage or fire damage for ignite?
👀
my understanding is i gotta scale cold?
the coolest spell I've seen is the ember fusilade one. Idk what ascendancy to go for it though
i assume your biggest hit (regardless of cold etc) is used to calc ignite
on Poe2DB it does not have the spell tag
with that ascendancy
im kinda guessing its a mistake on the site because why tf would charged staff be a spell
An idea would be to get Resonance keystone to convert frenzy charge gain into power and take the buff combat frenzy for frenzy (-> power) charge on freeze/eletrocute/pin and sniper's mark for frenzy charges on crit
@silent glade Do you have any plans releasing official skill tree site before launch?
You get cold increases to buff the hit which will increase ignite base dmg thanks to the "all dmg contributes to magnitude" or whatever. You could additionally get ignite magnitude (effect of ignite) to increase ignite part of your dmg further.
this or power offering with some self reviving skele clerics
There is also this harmony node that gives a 20% chance for power charge generation if you hit an enemy with shock while it is chilled
Right that's what i thought, whereas ignite itself doesn't benefit from %increased fire damage right?
oh yeah, not tag just category thing. Darn
trigger it
Would Archmage increase the damage of charged staff?
That's right. Ignite would benefit from lowering fire resistance though, because base dmg comes from pre-mitigation dmg but enemy resistance matters while it's ticking. (penetration is only for hits)
It applies a buff, it doesn't do damage, archmage doesn't work
no that would be weird with
it applies a buff that does damage
a lightning shockwave
Not how archmage works
Meh.
minor cook ruined sadge
god who do i flicker strike with
Have we confirmed if corrupted blood stacks up to 10 times like poe1, or if it's a single stack?
yea that makes sense
thanks mate
i'm probably starting as cold ignite infernalist then i think
just to clarify - they mean (as extra) chaos damage, right?
the cast on freeze comet idea made it a lot less clunky
ok then gonna ask this then
if im struggling with Witch - who here is going Monk - Invoker
Hey guys, as someone who hasn't played POE 1, do you think it would be possible to build a Chronomancer with a 2h Sword? Would be my ultimate class fantasy but not sure how viable that would be haha
Also for flicker strike Deadeye could be pretty solid with the Avidity ascendancy, if it does work at converting the charges
cause i was gonna do either Monk or Witch
I go Invoker I think
swords not available yet
probably
only maces are available right now. Swords come with duelists, they've said
i was thinking titan flicker
Oh, don't we get that dope looking sword skin in the early access packs? Can I just slap that on anything?
says just for 1h and 2h swords
I'm planning on Invoker Monk
leaning titan tank w/ full glass cannon spectres
my advice would be if you want to start to make your own builds, which i support because I think thats what makes this game so fun, just be prepared to fail a LOT. If you want to go Witch, go witch, do your plan, learn what worked and what didnt work, try again. Failure is a part of the process, dont be afraid of it
several MTX come later. Flail from last pack too
I brick like 99% of the shit I try because im dumb
invoker has two madatory picks lol
Hm...guess then I'll just go Ice Stormweaver or something and try melee once swords are in the game
I am a bit new here, if anyone is thinking to go for poison chonk and you have a build in mind, please share
posion is pathfinder
The plus side is poe2 is a lot more forgiving in experimenting with stuff
i think chonk will make for good poisons.. tons of chaos damage to pump into a meaty poison
you can do poison builds on not Pathfinder too lol
well you can still do it for chonk?
@devout dew I'd start with something like this personally https://marcoaaguiar.github.io/poe2-tree/?a=infernalist&p=IIOQjA7ANKBMAMNwE4YGUHrK4awBYkwwo0IA2VM%2BK8gDnNPIgGYoQFG1ywBWU3sljtIXci2goxLOuwTQ0vCIXDKBsfmnx1Ci%2BLMV8BLROEoD8jVSS11N%2BMGzQsHpF8PDxhzjW-inkTVhkVBBkXVg6Gw0FDRU6RAwCUlhHFLBvVOj4CLBEhCoEA1hyRJMFFzLYCORihnYot3omknA8pu8Wc2c7EVS3HT78%2BCdIXQgFcVJtUmwUg3aQUYjdFlCwAyUBG0sRIPgubFDeOiA
you could go ED/Contagion chonk
pathfinder doubles your stacks though, everyone else is stuck with 5
Exactly! thats what i am going for
What exactly even is poison xd
A form of chaos damage over time
yeah but does it scale off the hit and if so how different from ignite?
it clearly the best way to practice rolling in poe2
It does scale off hit. Ignite can’t stack
hmmm that could work too
i find it funy any class can use the bell
Don’t you need combo points to cast it
hi, im new and playing lightning BAMA, im wondering where the next most efficient upgrades would be? https://pobb.in/wT3SPoCY-Ep6
im doing harvest and running low red tier maps atm, just upgraded bow recently which doubled my dps, so might be able to comfortably do the higher red maps now
im thinking next upgrades i should be upgrading quiver to a decent one with lightning and then adding the other combat focus gem? how about after that
Seems meh
You get combo from any strike skills
wrong channel
Bell + Hammer of the Gods = brrrrrrrrrrrr
True I dumb
oh should this be a thread in build help
wrong game
Brother that’s poe1
wait so you need something that deals either phys or chaos to scale poison? it would be unwise to go for any other damage type and then convert?
They changed the order of the channels I swear
they did
you'd want to have high convert%
Evil admins
Maces stun, swords increase accuracy, what do quarterstaffs do?
@dry quiver I think Combat Frenzy + frenzy to power charge gen is good
quarterstaffs bonk
HOLY CRAP YOU'RE RIGHT
Where do you plan on finding any phys or chaos conversion
Staffs have block in PoE1
Have we seen any in poe2?
monk starting weapon im prety sure
@frail jay did you switch from infernalist to invoker?
No when I realised you couldn't do the hiking sticks build I gave up in staffs
did we get a monk gameplay video from anyone?
hiking sticks? 👀
They're weapons with high attack speed and high crit. The base types have various things but the overall weapon identity is actually in the skills for that weapon. Lightning, cold, wind moves.
have not seen a single source so far
You can dual wield two hand weapons but not staffs
Unfair I say!
Do we know/think if spears will be an int/dex weapon or dex/str or something else?
are there any big streamers going Invoker that any of you know of?
no
We've seen an increased range and a spell block one, but spell block doesn't exist anymore
Is block for hits now?
Pure dex cause they're meant for huntress
Or attacks
Hmm. Block would be good for frontbar
Block is for strikes and projectiles
Weird
Nothing weird about it
Off Meta Michael is a content creator whose future monk build(s) I'm excited about. Ascendancy unknown.
inb4 spell block is ascendency locked
Ahh right right, I love the idea of a spear as a weapon, I'm curious if it'll even make sense to use it on a monk/sorc or not
I would be happy if spears are the new claws
There are claw nodes
can we remove claws
ty
not again
tbh they've been wevy wevy quiet about claws for a long time
also quiet about traps
traps got reworked I think, they're still coming with shadow
flails will be fun
wonder if crossbowchonk would work
probably designed to be reworked but they'll finish druid and huntress first etc
faster leech proc with crossbow, could work tbh
How do you plan on solving the mana costs? That's my biggest fear with the invoker trigger build
Chayula Full mana, MOM, CI (maybe), no ES. Pretty sure full uptime on darkness dmg increase, which i dont even know if its good lol
gemling legionare can go any weapon
yep should
barrier invocation, comet, spell echo was the introduction to meta gems AFAICR
What does "As additional Stun Threshold" mean?
darkness seems so off
inspiration support, reduced mana cost/mana regen nodes on tree
Having Mana Flare won't make a non-fire spell summon raging spirits when mana flare procs right?
I'm pondering a barrage spiral volley chronomancer. A few questions...
- If I consume frenzy charges for spiral volley, will repeats of the skill gain the benefits of the consumed charges as well?
- If spiral volley repeats, will it also repeat the spinning movement component?
- If the answer to 2 is yes, will momentum support apply damage for every repeat past the 2-second movement threshold? Or does it "reset" momentum for each repeat?
Sorry for the wall of text, ty!
Not sure where to ask but does anyone know what skill is used here? Cuclone with slicey stuff looks awesome
Hol up, concoctions are still unarmed, meaning free use of the funny palm skills
yes
your meter to get stunned (which is also used to active block) gets longer
What I thought- thank you.
It doesn't turn your active skill into a fire skill so I'd guess no
does the increased energy gen on this buff apply to other buffs or only this one?
looks like invoker monk using wind blast and ascendancy triggers the energy waves. That or some support does the same
Active block seems to have a separate stagger mechanic
only that one
Stormweaver with ascension 6,7,8,10 self cast Glacial Cascade? Thoughts?
Just that one
Oh cool thanks
does elemental exprssion have a cooldown?
Isn't glacial cascade a quarterstaff attack now?
Oh I hope not lol I am kinda going in blind to poe2
it is
Do we only have maces for melee right now?
@frail jay ok i got that bookmarked
Damn, whelp 😂
Thanks. I wqs doubting between invoker monk and sunder titan. Maybe i just found what i want :p
Hmmge. Well that's how I've understood it. There's probably room for interpretation.
Mace and quarterstaff
staff
Blind
#2┃build-planning
Pick one lol
we haven't seen the [important part of the] tooltip 😧
https://youtu.be/c49jGjuebP4?si=lg4iEljI8xrrjhGI
Plus the 'waves in crit' ascendancy
#pathofexile2 #poe2 #diablo4 #arpg
Well, as in I haven't played POE in 5 years and tryna play catch up
wait, can mana flare support minions, just not the "skills of minions?" same for Elemental discharge.
"Skills of mininons" is like the skeleton sniper's Poison Arrow, no the skeleton sniper itself.
ah thats right thx. can't wait for more classes and skills
tbf we're all also mostly build planning off vibes and feelings lol
Fair lol
I thought glacial cascade would be fun to self cast :/ I am trying to avoid frostbolt/ice nova archmage
Minions can't trigger things so no
Or ball lightning/arc archmage
rip.
I can't wait to test out all the barrage interactions. I'm so excited for it to work how I least want it to in every scenario
Is spell suppression in poe2?
No
Try some duration skills with archmage like firestorm and lightning storm
Hot damn, hourglass got nerfed to 10sec
oof flicker is limited to quarterstaffs
minion death can trigger, but unless you're specifically slaughtering SRS minions quickly im guessing its not going to be very easy to make that a core feature of a build
i couldnt get it to reach quarterstaff buffs
don't do 122 and don't take so many small points lol
Worth noting hits are just hits now so you can naturally evade spells
Are there some good cold spells to look into for stormweaver?
Eye of winter is a favorite of my mine from poe 1
Insane to not grab whispers when yto are right there
Ahh ok, thank you! I have heard a lot of people going for frostbolt/ice nova
Frostbolt and cold snap/ice nova also looks pretty slick
ngl bonestorm looks like a cool build
the basic way to approach the PoE tree is to go from notable to notable you think is good for your build, pathing to them via the small nodes that are also the most beneficial. Dont focus on small nodes
Can barrage support channeled bow skills?
Cold snap is DoT spell right?
No
Cast on crit eye of winter invoker, going to kill myself getting that to work after I have some gear
O.O oh hell yeah
doesnt say it?
Poe2db shows skills
have to see it in game probly to know
Hyper out of date and incomplete, so take them with a grain of salt
Cold snap is now a spell that "shatters" a frozen enemy to deal damage around it. If you cast it on frostbolt, it instead casts it on all frozen enemies near your frostbolt
Yeah true , it’s everything we’re basing our info on though. Just saying he can see that stuff for himself
Oh whoa
That sounds incredible!
we dont know wut support gems support witch type of skills yes
Will instant mana leech make much of a difference compared to non-instant?
it would be easier for me to talk it out than type 😦
Like 60% of the support is different then what was in havocs leak
Beings you can only have 1 leech source, yes
If you are hitting more then 1 a second, yes
Yeah it just says barrage will make your bow attack repeat. And snipe doesn't say it can't be repeated or anything
if you use a support gem with cost modifier within a 'cast on' meta, does it increase the energy required?
No, but triggers take mana
No , some gems have a reservation multiplier
There is an unrevealed flamethrower skill
ah triggers take mana? i assumed not since they are triggered and not cast
interesting
will i be able to make a female warrior w minions by starting witch n getting warrior stuff and minion stuff?
Classes are gender-locked and not cosmetically customizable (aside from gear and stuff)
You can certainly try
It's clear in one of the teasers, don't remember which.
thanks i'll try to look around!
Hybrid builds are really not recommended
I mean... Do we know this for sure?
sounds odd
No but we could make a guess
Oh, you don't mean "Warrior" the class, you just mean a warrior archetype, I see
Melee and minions is the odd sounding one
so i cant pick witch but make my way to warrior side, n pick warrior ascendancy?
hybrid armor however is the way to play invoker
And recommending hybrit builds to new players would be ewww
can you move while holding block?
Ascendancies are locked to your starting class
Not ascendency but you can path down to the warrior part of the tree
Lol no, ascendancies are class locked
yes
just a good idea to be clear where the damage comes from when they can't be scaled with same modifiers. The other one does something that supports
Chronomancer (sorceress) has only one node that's specifically catered to spells. The rest are generically useful for any build @brave thicket
does this mean blasphemy doesn't have curses always on, but instead turns them on in an aura on use? how does that interaction work
thanks, all. that helps a lot.
hammer chronomancer qwill be funny
Sounds like she wants to play chrono hammer
thank you, ill look it up!
Barrage > hammer. I'll show them all
I will play Chronomancer summoner for sure
Turns curses into an aura, not trigger
I really really hope that if you time snap a skill linked to second wind it gives you both cooldowns back...
so you still have to cast them after each duration expires?
i also want to make a merc with minions hehe. just fun stuff rly
You get an aura which puts linked curses on enemies that enter the area
right but is the aura persisting or do you need to use mana
No, enemies are cursed when they get within the aura's range
oh nice
persistent
if you put support gems on that does it affect anything
They are uncursed if they leave the aura range
Does blasphemy share the activation delay, though? Like, do enemies need to be in range for a certain time before they're cursed?
is it worth unsing eye of winter in a minion build? do minions crit?
and how will blasphemy interact with hex?
blasphemy plus the pernament curse sounds good
There work like normal, they all have reservation multipliers for when they are used with blasphemy
If it has reservation multiplier it will reserve more
can i have blashemy on and then spam hex?
Idk about that
You can in 1
hummm. theres a support that gives 12% more damage for every kind of element skill you used recently
allegely
But this hexblast is new and different
I'm not sure how eye of winter and minions critting correlate to each other. Eye of winter is a projectile-heavy cold spell and minions... Are minions. Minions can crit in poe 1, not sure about poe2
hexblast seems crazy with blasphemy...
the max 9 explosions smh
Not really
Just for critical weakness I guess
Minions can crit, eye of winter applies Critical Weakness on hit
if the curses automatically reapply
(they don't know it's bait)
how is hexblast not pretty strong
New hexblast is a crappy clear skill
Doesn't even apply all ailments anymore
hexblast damage isn't particularly high so you use it when there's a lot of eneies
it's bad singletarget
I assume hexblast does not remove curses if used with blasphemy
no it just gets reapplied
If spiral volley repeats and it's linked to momentum, will the ability move you for more than 2 seconds? If so, will momentum's damage bonus apply from then on?
We don't know
Time for science tomorrow
Poison Sunder
and i assume its an explosion per curse removed
The one on DB has 'inflicts crit weakness's.
Jungroan claimed that is 0.5% additional chance to get crit, stacking 20 times.
10% base crit is big
oh wow that's CRAZY
so single target might just get one explosion
this is how i see it... you can have 3 curses ripped every cast, seems strong
Sorry but poison sunder is gonna be ass
Eye of winter , cast on freeze comet seem like a good base for bloodmage?
Man I can't wait for barrage spiral volley chronomancer to nuke entire maps in two buttons
why do you think so?
hexblast will probably be a perfectly good clear skill but you'll need something else for bossing, but that kinda seems like the direction we're heading in PoE2 regardless
poison is just 25% of the damage, isn't it? unless you're going for tons of stacks is it really that good?
That's why I have Eye of Winter in my Cast on Shock setup. With invoker, it's shock > eye of winter > pickup shocked ground > shock enemies. Plus increased base crit chance
pathfinder doubles the posion stacks
It has +1.4 second attack time, meaning you will never be able to attack faster than that
@frail jayi found a new support that works great with trigger skill
10% less cast speed for 25% more damage
right that's what i'm saying, unless you go path and hit the other nodes, it doesn't seem strong
yeah but the damage?
what
Speed is more important than big hits for poison
Poison has a max stack size of one by default in poe2
For poe1 poison
we don't have infinite stacks anymore
^
There is 3 from tree/supports, and deadeye doubles to 6
^
You still need to be faster than 1.4 attack time
Fair enough
The poison sunder idea is you use the support gem that gives armor break from poison damage and then you stack armor break so you sunder and the poison breaks armor and goes negative and you keep consuming the armor breaks for autocrits and ramping damage
Oh, so the poison is a tool to buff your hits
yeah i mean i get it
Not to deal damage
Is it only chaos damage that can poison now?
the 3500% towards armor break
80%
kinda, I mean you can scale the poison too although it might be better to focus on hit
rip obviously busted corrosion support
Comet looks like it may be the spell of choice for me, looks pretty sweet to do storm weaver, get the all elements can shock and yolo it
How would yall build Chonk? Not going darkness just stacking chaos
It has a minimum 1 second cast time which won’t feel great
If you’re self casting it
Is there no way to lower it?
corrosion lets posion armor break so the skill you use doesnt have to break armor smh
Step 1: pick invoker
Step 2: don't hate your life
a general idea is MoM, maybe CI, mana stack with instant mana+es leech and be thicc af
Maybe frostbolt and cast on chill then
trigger it and ignore the cast time
true
What’s MoM
Mind over Matter
losing spirit for darkess seems just bad
Yea I don’t plan on doing that
Yeah, will probably have a skill like frostbolt to trigger it then
it is
Yup that’s my plan too lol. Cast on freeze comet + spell echo
it should have been reduced spirit
There are single handed mauls correct- I mean, i don't need Giants Blood to carry a shield with current weapons out for EA correct? Lawl.
and biting frost
Whirling staff and skill effect duration to try get the into the breach buff to last as long as possible.
only if you want a 2 handed weapon and a sheild
Let's go, I really wanted to avoid what I think most people will do for storm weaver. Ie
Ball lightning/arc
frostbolt/ice nova
Flat ele is way easier to stack so you do that instead I think.
ngl ball lighting storm weaver is too good
I’m going bloodmage though lol and not archmage. Should still be fine though for you
Ye- there is an option of a one handed weapon in EA? Lawl.
Are there any ideas around that could abuse time freez for something other then its cool cc ?
yes
im doin it, yolo
What is a good ascendancy for ice theme build? Stormweaver or Invoker?
Yes there are one handed maces
What is blood mage? I am gonna avoid mana stacking
Witch ascendency
only for hits
Ooh interesting, I haven't really looked at it yet
are you 100% sure
yes
blood barbs is always a pick on bloodmage i think
I was gonna go storm weaver for the shock and arcane surge + energy shield recoup
Definitely recommend looking at least at all the ascendencies to get an idea of what you might wanna do
They’re posted on official poe site
i might do a theme build on bloodmage with the new bone skills
The bone skills looked too minion themed for me
They got nothing to do with minions lol
Was gonna go Chorono + Hammer before it turned out to be a 'strong' build- until I saw cooldowns and drawbacks of the time skills lmao. So instead, i'ma try going Ice Templar route. Apex Moment Asend Node: 33% Slow, Temporal Chains Curse & Chill for more slows. Might be trash- but I do love the concept of Chorono sorc.
i think bonestorm is gonna have some broken interactions with slams or something physical
huh?
do we have any idea what end game health and mana pools will look like? Similar to poe1?
The only good one is bonestorm and unless you’re going spell+attack you’re def playing minions
HOLY SHIT
oh wtf I never saw that debuff lmao
oh right the debuff
each spike adds flat phys to next attack and in the video one channel put like 12 of those bitches on the boss
theres a support that increase the max energy on meta gem by 80%😮
Is it?
gonna cast so many comets
Maybe maybe not, im still thinking about it
What ascendancy points are you gonna take? I would think like 1,2,3,7 ?
since dark effigy is a totem, is there one max? anyone have sauce on it
bone cage wording
Ok but is there anything about charge infusion?
predownload is in 2h right ?
For bloodmage? Gorespike, spell leech and 25% dmg taken over time
Wdym
Nah 6 hours
6
damn
RIP poison sunder
steam preload will probly be before launch tomorrow
You can't use corrosion support on sunder
In the spirit gem list there's one called charge infusion or something like that
It was OP I guess
Ahh ok
I’ll swap spell leech for the es as life node if leech is ass
What
Leech is hopefully pretty good, that looks like a fun ascendancy
You can't use corrosion support on skills that consume broken armor, so no corrosion on sunder
The fuck
Idk if it explains life remnants on there but you get them from crits as well not just monster death
But what about warbringer then?
yeah i was worried about that
Which is why I’m going eye of winter
Oh so gonna want to scale some spell crit chance?
Yup
Warbringer puts armour break on all damage, it doesn't consume armour break
does stun threshold affect stun meter while blocking
you get more on crits too
But will it allow break consuming skills to break as well
Like more than 1 orb?
yes
What do frenzy charges do again?
I'm interested in seeing how your build goes! I am thinking about trying to not do CI and go ES + mana with low life? Not sure if that's actually possible though
Nothing
Nothing by itself apparently
It should, but you wouldn't even want to because of the node after, Imploding Impacts
imo
every few seconds is just it's internal CD is it not, it's not just printing multiple remnants I dont think
Idk how low life works with gorespikes lol sounds hard to manage. I plan on going blood magic
I feel like you think you're gonna be armour breaking on hit hmmm
And hoping there’s an iron will keystone to str stack
Ahh got it
But prob not
I have doubts about imploding impacts
won't work, gore spike wording makes it sound based on your current life
Yeah exactly
All the other damage ascendancies only give up to 20% more damage, or just 10% if it's unconditional
i have my doubts on culling strike now since it applies before the hit
low life in general in PoE2 seems pretty sus so far
I'm gonna go storm weaver and pray I don't need to do archmage + mana stack but I may do it in the end
i mean most life is on armor now
Looks at ruetoo’s latest video
or if you stregth stack
Ooh will do, thanks!
archmage will be required for endgame i think
We only have 1 known source of a possible low life build
its too much damage
Maybe but no one is planning that far rn
infact i see an archmage nerf if everyone goes it lol
I am kind of new to PoE in general so have a question. I want to use a greatsword. I like the aesthetic. However, will I gimp myself if i don't do a str/dex build, or is there a way to go into int as well through some kind of node? I wanted to do the darkness monk with a greatsword, but it seems like I'd want tons of mana (INT) but the weapon I want to use is STR/DEX. Any way to make this work?
It’s just cause it’s familiar and we know how it works. Once we learn the game im sure theres gonna be so much broken stuff
No swords on EA launch
fwiw there are no greatswords right away in EA
not swords in the game at early access launch - but welcome!
Main reason I’m not playing archmage lol
yeah will get added later
regardless, if i wanted to use on launch, would i be subpar if i don't do a str/dex build?
Swords are prob coming with Duelist
depends on how high stormweaver can get its arcane surge buff
not sure if you can reskin weapons etc
Yeah that’s fair
we also dont know if ggg capped arcane surge
would bonuses to 'allies' include minions?
Trying to figure out what I was going to play as a first build in POE2. Usually I would just play Arc in POE1, but, I figured I'd look into something different in terms of a caster build. I just saw "Demon Form" in the Infernalist, which seemed really cool, however, reading chat today, people are saying its bad.
Any thoughts/recomendations?
Yes
attributes are pretty fluid and respeccing looks cheap, so wouldn't worry too much about it
thanks
There are some cross compatible skins that can make maces look like swords, but idk about mace monk, since that's the opposite side of the tree
It’s just very complicated and we don’t really know how it works so it’s hard to theorycraft
tbh noone knows and everyone's just guessing
could be dope
ty
Thats valid for sure.
The only reason it caught my eye was due to me being a Demo Warlock (In WoW) back in the day and I always loved turning into a demon.
I would 100% recommend ignoring what anyone is yapping about in this chat including myself and playing what looks fun to you. Fun > meta strength especially on launch
Are there any build planners yet? Probably not.
I think it will definitely be good , just might be some time before we get an optimal build for it
There are none
https://marcoaaguiar.github.io/poe2-tree this one but it's incomplete
do we need crit in an ignite build?
nope
"Every class starts with 40 mana and has the following stats: Regenerate 1.8% of Mana per second" yeah high high then xd i'd have done chrono all the way lol
And everyone trying to actually plan a build rn is wasting their time
Crit helps to ignite and bigger ignite but not needed
Figured as much.
And last question I assume. In terms of like... Respecing. Is it going to be easier in POE2 than POE1? I saw a youtube video that mentinoed it, but it didn't go into details.
You don't need it, but crit is extra damage so it helps with igniting
w/ ignite you want the biggest single hit you can get, which crit helps with
and makes ignite bigger
but not necessary
Do shocks scale both the hit and dot damage of ignites or how does that work? I assume it wouldn't double dip like that
Definitely easier, since it's just gold instead of semi rare currency
Poe2 is gonna be way more forgiving with experimenting. Gold to respec and gems drop at higher levels
Oh perfect. Okay cool. This will be fun then.
lmao we did it
wanna make this good but its a bunch of small hits which by that logic wouldn't be good with ignite then?
dot's scale on the premitigated damage of a hit, sources of increased damage taken won't double dip
It'll apply to the dot when the dot is mitigated
Yeah they're not for ignite
Ok yeah that's what I figured
Anything in right now that resembles frostblade? Wish spear was in already
It's only level 5, we don't know what the damage profile of this is yet
You'd have to see what the base damage ends up being, but 40% more damage on the last hit isn't bad
It’s good with flame wall cause it adds flat fire dmg
But not ignite
How does evasion and armor work in Poe2 with Iron Reflexes? Is it same as damage conversion, forgetting its evasion and scales only from armor % on tree?
If it ignites on earlier hits thats ok, ignite damage is always the largest instance
No confirmation, but probably won't scale with %evasion anymore
Yeah but you’re only getting 1 ignite on a skill that hits multiple times, seems worthless lol
I wonder if there's a world where it would be viable to use that skill simply by relying on its raw hit, not ignite
Fusillade could be cool on a coc bloodmage as the activator
Check out ruetoos lastest video
Is hammer a limit skill?
cooldown skill
I wonder if increase limit can increase seal on unleash support
drops 2 hammers at once
There are posts other than key giveaways and beggars?
Does anyone know if Snipe and other charge skills speed up with Faster Attacks? Or is the charge time fixed?
Speed works on them
oh god someone made a warhammer 40k build
lmao
Nice, ok ty!
hmmm build with only one damage support on the spam skill
Very popular bait these days
I feel like this was everyone's idea the second they saw hammer of god. I know it was mine
Can't wait to see hammer get nerfed into the ground on release
