Are you using Charged Staff? You need at least one Power Charge to activate it, and that applies a buff which would trigger the waves when attacking with something like Tempest Flurry.

chaos isnt the most important, every act you lose more res to raise difficulty. Aim for life and the 3 main res

All resists are 60+ just Chaos at 13. Life at 1299, some on most gear pieces, a lot from of Strength from passives. I think the mobs doing mostly green poison and red blood stuff. Playing Rake Spearfield Amazon.

It's not an uncommon bug, unfortunately. Your main option for now is to log out for like 15-20 minutes or so, that will force the instance to close, and you'll be back in your hideout. I believe you can also hold CTRL when in the character select and that might force you into your hideout as well

this trade system is now with this league , you get the npc ange and you put items for sell and you can even log off,when you get back if someone bought your item you just pick the currency and there's an ingame markeplace , you can pick an item and you tp to their hideout and buy from the npc

You drop waystone and as you go further you unlock atlas points to help you. As you go higher the level is much more difficult so its about grinding and getting better gear

tier 1 maps are area lvl 65/mobs , bosses can drop +1 to tier , so you can get tier 2 , you can get better % if you spec into the atlas , you can do how many tier 1 you want , when you feel strong you go to Tier 2 and so on
