So, I finally got some time on my weekend to play the game and I was initially playing with a witch (stopped at level 7), but I saw some videos of people having a lot of fun with Sorcerer Chrono.

I like the idea of using curses and chaos damage, but the idea of time stopping and destroying enemies seem very compelling. With that said, Given that I play in a laptop with not so good integrated graphics, would looking for some hexblast/similar build witch work better for me or a chrono is nice to play in that context.

I am not that good with ARPGs, only having played some PoE1 and Last Epoch previously, so consider me a newbie with regards to skill. Tips are appreciated and if this is the wrong place to ask, please let me know

I have a hexblast chronomancer, you can kill pinnacle bosses without them getting to use their moves, good clear depending on your standards.

Chronomancer naturally goes well with temp chains, both due to increased slow magnitude and the debuff duration increasing the length of time freeze.

1. This website says that the only boss I need to worry about is the candlemass boss. It is the only boss that gives you maximum life increase. Only one boss in the game gives you extra health.
   That doesn’t seem right. Does it? When people refer to not killing bosses that give you extra health, they always say bosses, multiple.
2. If I killed candlemass, without picking up the quest item it drops, I should be fine, right? The quest item doesn’t trigger unknowingly when it’s laying on the ground, or something, right?

you will find uncut gem drop randomly so you can cut a new skill / supports (eventually you will get tired of them dropping so much...)
respec tree with gold, sell gear for gold at npc, talk to the shade guy to repsec tree - if you havent seen him in town progress the story a bit

There's no way to check per act aside from knowing all the objectives that give passive points and seeing if they're crossed off.

You end up with 24 points at the end of cruel act 3. Which leads me to believe you might get 4 per act? I think that sounds right...

Your total passive points gained is equal to your total weapon set points (unless you have extra from being a witch hunter)

Well, I mean, /passives only really worked if you finished the campaign. If you look at the top right of the passive tree you can easily see if you've gotten them all after you finish the acts

Only difference is it doesn't tell you where to get the rest. But the map is pretty clear. Just longer to search through all the screens

no, you just need to go back to lower level zones

in poe you have xp penalty when your level is too far from the level of the enemies you are killing

for most efficiency you need to kill stuff within 5 lvls of your lvl

so you just need to go to the normal act2

and go through the zones there to lvl up

(and this is why power levleing isnt really a thing in poe)

lost city act 2 is lvl 22 iirc, should be okey zone to lvl up, mobs are easy to kill, and density is at least decent, lvl up to like 25, then move to act 3 i suppose

tldr about bug, if someone in act 3 normal had that big red crystal to open path to waterways, and someone on the same stage at act 3 cruel helped, while first player used crystal to open path, game consumed both crystals, from low lvl player and from act 3 cruel one

What's the fastest way to level on any character. Like I have already done act 1-3 and cruel 1-3 and don't want to go through it like a slog again. I know lighting orb and rod bow is a thing but don't you have to stop and like shoot all the enemies continually. For example with fire wall early on I could just fire wall and kill a lot of mobs with very little time investment, just press fire wall once every 5 secs and still kill bunch of mobs while continually running

If you have enough damage, contagion on its own can clear packs. Contagion and essence drain are a really nifty combo for clearing huge packs of mobs. The speed you clear scales with the size of the mobs. But for bossing, I don't know how to beat rod+orb on a budget

If you're not on a budget, I have no idea what the OP leveling methods are

With how it can also spread damaging Curses and other effects, it's actually pretty good early on in my experience, just a bit inconvenient to get going since Contagion casts on a single target.

I wouldn't recommend doing any build that requires a specific unique or item as your first SSF build. However, you can choose to obtain them with another build and then respec to it, or make a second character and use them there.

it's better go with mindset of build depending on what stuff you found

personally I'd be looking for stuff like +gem level, damage as extra cold (freeze is generally useful). If mana is integral part of the build for scaling damage / defense, need in hundreds+
if you build into crit, want far higher crit chance.
so it depends on what kind of skill/build you playing
but then again depends on what you mean by "mid game"; assume you in campaign right now it's fine, just use whatever you find.
there isn't whole lot of way to get [flat damage] for skills aside from gem level, so if you find something with + gem level but other mods are weak, it could still potentially give you more dps, equip and compare dps result
(honestly not sure if it's even good idea that GGG allow +gem level mod to go this high currently, it's not hard to find vendor selling even +4 or higher, so make sure to check especially if you in SSF, it kinda makes gear without good +gem roll feels waste of time)

You shouldn't need to be trading with other players for a weapon this early in the game. You can generally find a better weapon even from merchants, or just picking up random (presumably) Crossbows as you go along.

This isn't about it reserving Mana or Spirit, you'd need to enable the skill in PoE1 as well.

Specifically, you'd need to toggle on the skill in both games for it to be active, it's just that in PoE1, you tended to place it on the hotbar and then activate it, whereas in PoE2 you do so via the Skills screen.

Reload and attack speed increases help make that feel better. Merc, like all classes, benefits from combining skills together. Permafrost bolts + fragmentation rounds carried me for a long time. I did voltaic grenades and shock burst rounds. Eventually switched to flash grenades for stunning enemies and triggering armor explosion for clear, and explosive shot.

the passive tree's starting areas change based on your class selection — that little starting diamond in the int starting area has one version for witch, one version for sorc, and a third version if you're any of the other classes. I'm assuming PoB hasn't incorporated this yet

Rarity affects basically everything. We don't know for sure how much is "too much" but people say anywhere from 100-200%. Personally I noticed a difference with just 50%

Spark - acceleration - arcane surge
Arc - controlled destruction - arcane tempo
Orb of storms - persistence - overabundance

Maybe swap tempo and surge

Tho maybe tempo+ surge on arc so you get arcane surge sooner

You should have gotten an uncut spirit gem when you completed the quest in act 1 that gave you your 30 spirit that you have. Spirit skills reserve spirit and are always on.
