aha. ok
what did the update add
which one is better?
nerf to warrior
😮
how do i know which one to pick? they look the same

Does anyone know if Malice's crit chance increase works with minion instability explosions?
whatever has the coolest showcase video
made by the same dude
looks like the same effort
idk
gas arrow is better fot lvl
then whatever is the most up to date
and uses the ascendancy you want to play
what does this mean? why does it matter when i applyy a gem?
It explains here.
?
i dont understand why the intelligence would change
i dont understand what the "this" is that is required for gas arrow.
for example :/
more lvl the more str attribute u need to use it
"This" being the most recently referred to other subject of a sentence, "Flame Wall"
druid when
not necessarily. i thought "this" was referring to intelligence since pronouns usually apply to last stated noun...
Would anyone know if the minion instability explosion is capable of critically hitting? o -o
I genuinely cannot bring myself to argue sentence structure in a game discord 😅
Honestly, fair question.
Intuition says yes but I don't see anything immediately that says it can.
Yea, it's an interaction I was 'using' but not sure if it 'worked'?
I wish to know if it was actually possible or not
I guess the main thing I would point out is that I wouldn't know where they could get crit chance from for this.
So if the interaction does exist, I would expect it to not be something you could rely on.
Malice increases the base crit chance as you continuously stack it
critical weakness is quite a strong aura/debuff

If so, should be pretty easy to test then.
Since the damage is a fixed amount, you can simply try with/without Malice or other crit modifiers.
isn't there also a gem with 'super critical' suport?

I could probably try messing with that too
There are some crit supports, yes.
A pronoun typically refers to an antecedent—that is, an earlier noun, pronoun, phrase, or clause in the same or in a previous sentence. Pronouns with antecedents are called anaphoric pronouns. (Anaphora is the use of a word or phrase to refer to or replace one used earlier.) An antecedent may be explicit or implicit, but it should be clear. Miscues and ambiguity commonly arise from (1) a missing antecedent (as in The clown’s act with his dog made it a pleasure to watch, where it is intended to refer to the circus, which is not explicitly mentioned in the context); (2) multiple possible antecedents (as in Scott visited Eric after his discharge from the army, where it is unclear who was discharged—Eric or Scott); and (3) multiple pronouns and antecedents in the same sentence (e.g., When the bottle is empty or the baby stops drinking, it must be sterilized with hot water or it could become ill—where one hopes that the hot-water sterilization is for the bottle).
sentence was poorly phrased
Leave it as a comment for the guide writer.
sourced from chicago manual of style chapter 5 part 31
I'm sure you'll find a way if there is enough concern for that sentence.
If not on that website, perhaps on the showcase video you mentioned. Or a business email for that creator.
Keep on it, I'm sure there's something you can do.
can you get a bigger inventory some how?
least pendantic poe player
titan ascendancy
there's a notable for +20 slots
isnt that locked to a specific class?
so theres no way in most cases :/
correct
For some reason I can’t find the trial of sehkima in cruel mode. I just did one of the tests of strength and it was way too easy and didn’t really give any rewards. I’m in the “search for traitors passage” quest rn in cruel and have killed the boss for it like three times. Anyone know what’s wrong
Completely normal, you can ignore the quest and continue on.
You can use the same trial map location for all of your sekhema runs, the quest is not able to be finished in cruel 😦
Where can you see your stun threshold?
PoB, I think 😅
this advice doesnt tell me what support gems to get. or am i just blind? i dont see the martial tempo or the lightning infusion supports anywhere. i also dont see what support for the bow shot to get :/
For purposes of Sekhemas, what does 'upon floor completion' mean exactly? The entire trial?
Hopefully I'm in the right thread but when do you start getting better weapons or do you have to keep upgrading them? I'm level 32 and still using a cross bow meant for level 5 but I've kept upgrading it with different modifiers to make it pretty good but everything I've been getting hasn't been much better. I just started ACT 3 so if I have to keep going its fine I'm just wondering
If you look to just pick up items that are outright better than what you had, yeah. Odds are good you'll be waiting for a bit.
theres 1-4 floors
You generally take good baseline upgrades, or take decent bases and pick them up to try upgrading a little.
Ok thanks I'm still new to the game but what's the item called that turns magic items into rare ones? or blue into gold however its worded i dont know
anny suggestions what to use my first support gem on?" ranger.
A regal orb.
So if it says I 'lose all sacred water on floor completion' it means after I kill the boss on this first floor
Generally those are alright to spend as a newer player, when you have a really good blue item.
Past that though, probably wouldn't spend exalts much (if at all) during the campaign.
Which would mean I have none to convert to keys
Are regal orbs found or created?
Both
ok thanks
Both
You can disenchant rare items to get regal shards, which combine into orbs.
They can drop or you can combine shards from disenchanting rare items
You can also get shards or orbs themselves as drops.
Well i deffinitely shouldn't have been selling the rare items then lol damn
Honestly, some people do for a bit.
If they need the gold more than the extra regal shards.
Personally I preferred the shards, but I was definitely tossing vendors anything that was like 1.5k-3k depending on how far along the story I was.
does every area reset and also randomize the layout or am i going crazy
it resets after 8-14 minutes spent outside the area
Anyone else blow through so many gems just to use like two skills that actually work?
I’m using crossbow and it feels like glacial bolt is the only thing scaling big damage and its mid at best
I’m entering act 3
can i not see whats on my account on the poe2 site? whenever i go to look it only gives me poe1 options
Well it's more about what skills youre using together and how youre scaling their damage.
sprete website u need poe2
You don't use supports onnthe regular bow shot. Select one of the actual skills and check the recommendations, or uncheck the recommendations box and use the search bar. Martial tempo should be available immediately I'm pretty sure.
I banged out 12k gold to respect passives I do less damage but I’m evading my ass off.
I’m only getting two support gem slots when do I get more?
ye but when u go to ur accountit takes u back
to the poe1
u tring to trade
i dont think it implemented yet only poe 1
Ah
is it normal for me to be at level 28 and not know wtf is going on
half my message didn’t send 😭
I mean... it can feel a bit like you're in the deep end I guess?
There's a lot here to learn 😅
i’m scaling ok but at the same time i literally have no idea what’s happening
i thought there was only 3 acts 😭
Well, in the end there's going to be 6 acts anyway so that is something to get used to.
They just are not released yet, so the "cruel" acts are just stand-ins for those.
when crafting, once you orb a grey item to magic with 1 mod and then orb it to 2 mods, can you ever re roll the item if it ends up being shit
or is it once you gamble it and it’s shit you just disenchant it
this
you can reroll with annuls and chaos if there's high potential
but with most you just disenchant
yeah but as a sub level 30 player
you just disenchant for more orbs
yeah
so if i buy a quarter staff and roll it and it’s dog water
in the campaign it's just vendor
just disenchant
i respecced out of flame to spark and i think i butchered my build 😭
time to goldmaxxx
idk if its even my passives
or my gear
i just have no survivability and i never have mana
Looking for a fun build to level. My main is Invoker and I love how satisfying it is to blow up the whole screen with HoI. any ranged builds that are fun/satisfying?
Those resists are really bad.
Yes. Read them. Some of the negatives can make things a lot harder.
terrible resists and low energy shield
ive been advised by others to ignore es and go for life
what happens when i run out of honor?
would you say thats not smart
you should have both
and what does sacred water do
let’s u buy stuff and you can spend 5 to fill some honor
You need to start the run over. It's difficult because you unlock your subclass at the end of it.
I'm very confused as to how magnitude of shock works with cast on shock
you lose
it procks whn you inflict enemieslwith shock i think
or shock dmg
So stacking magnitude of shock does what exactly
oh that idk
One guide said to put the support gem on spark that gives +75% magnitude of shock but less duration
I'm looking at how it performs and I can't see the difference
shock is an ailment status
when an enemy is shocked you do 20% more damage to them
and if you increase magnitude that % goes higher
Most builds usually want to get an enemy to shocked status asap and then do damage to it
So if I put it on spark and get more shock magnitude, the lightning conduit on cast on shock will deal more damage?
so you need shock chance, high lightning damage to get it to shocked status and then you can do whatever damage to it. Even ice, poison builds use this.
yes since it casts on shock, it means the enemy is already shocked and the triggered skill will do more damage
would the "high lightning damage" just mean more dps?
For example, a spark that does 100k damage vs one that does 20k damage, would that mean the 100k shock would get me more shocks, and in turn, cast on shock more frequently?
thats correct, I didnt want to go into the details of it but shock works in a way where certain hits that meet a certain threshold (based on the enemy's ailment threshold) contribute to shock threshold. check poe2wiki if you are interested in the details of how it works
Shock is a non-damaging lightning ailment that causes the target to take increased damage.
So, the way I understand it, is that a lot of different enemies have different shock thresholds (ailment thresholds?). So I need to break that threshold WITH DAMAGE to shock it BUT what does having an increased chance to shock exactly mean? Because I thought once you broke the threshold, that would already mean it had a 100% chance to proc a shock?
yes
thats why you see builds have a really high chance to shock built, I think some supports make it super high that you end up with like 750% chance to shock
Sorry so what does having over 100% shock chance do exactly?
theres an item i NEED in a vendor but im like 11k short, how do i farm that gold up without leveling up first
even 100% doesnt ensure enemy will be shocked if you read the wiki page, it is a 1:4 ratio based on enemy's threshold
You can't trade gold buy you can trade items. If you have a high level friend you can ask them for trash maps and sell that
does the level of my wand affect anything at all
it affects the level of the skill provided by it
i do not 😔
and obviously also the tier of the modifiers that can possibly roll on it
I can give you some but I'm in trials right now will be done in about 10 mins
oki
you can check this site if you care about the tiers https://poe2db.tw/us/Wands
id appreciate it 🙏
struggling to fix up this build
OHHH that's what that mean. I understand. Sorry, so having 750% chance to shock would mean more like 750% increase to a 1/4 chance, which means it would always shock?
add me BUSSYBOOMBA
how do you add people
next key pickup on the ground is duplicated
anyway thanks a lot for the information. Means a lot. I can try and setup my build better now
no worries, game is really all about that since the mechanics are pretty trivial. Currently its a manual process because GGG has not made APIs public like poe1 yet but importing your character to Path of building app, lets you see exactly where your damage comes from and understand it better (you can do it now but have to manually enter all gear and passive tree)
if i buy this is it possible to upgrade the lightning level
not directly, no
gotcha
you can remove it and get it back on at a higher tier by pure random chance
but directly upgrading tiers isn't really something we do in poe2
understood
why does the gamble shop in act 3 cost more is it higher chance
is this for defense?
yeah
thank you
guys, im new to poe2 and the whole genre. What's the easiest build to go for to learn the basic mechanics?
everyone starts with spark
If you wanna learn basics and mechanics, I feel like you should try and go through campaign with your own build and Google everything and anything you don't know
Honestly, I would take a look at the character descriptions and see which sounds interesting to you.
Campaign is pretty forgiving in terms of just messing around with something that looks fun 🙂
Chain Lightning? Lightning Spear? Anything in particular?
i liked lightning spear a lot
Then sorcerer would be a pretty comfortable start, takes a while to get anything similar to that though.
You'll be looking forward to arc for a similar build.
If the "magic" isn't specifically required, you might enjoy a ranger. Lightning arrow + lightning rod definitely gives you the lightning ranged feel quite early.
its ok if its not 1:1 the same as the diablo build, just wanted something similar.
also, poe2 seems very confusing to me
the whole ui and the system
even if i look up at a guide, i still cant understand lol
Well, for sorcerer if you go lightning a lot of your early gameplay will be throwing clouds of sparks on the ground in the general direction of your enemies lol
I wouldn't worry about it too much.
poe is a game with a lot of depth naturally, but you don't need to get it all to play through the game.
Also have the disc to ask questions if needed
you kinda pick up a guide and try to understand why it's the way it is till you get it ^^
ive seen online that many people play stormweaver
is this just a name for a build or its a hidden class i dont know about?
oh i see. is it a good build to start my first playthrough? im afraid it'd be too confusing
I personally don't enjoy it, some people find it to be low damage while playing through the campaign.
But it's fine. Quite a simple build at a basic level.
simple is good and if you go spark it means your build is elemental damage scaling mostly which means you can do other things too
seems good enough, but i just saw a lightning arrow build which seems interesting
simple is good and if you go lightning arrow it means your build is attack damage scaling mostly which means you can do other things too
The lightning arrow stuff is also a good starter build. Good skill interactions, good damage, fairly straightforward gearing and gameplay.
Can someone teach me how to navigate the trade options? I'm so confused. I want to filter for an amulet that has + spirit, but where's the option for the + spirit part?
Wait, i think im on the wrong page? I only see the POE1 PC options, don't see POE 2. That's why I couldn't find it
sure invite mopparii
is there somewhere showing the scaling of trial of sekhemas and ultimatum by level?
if i have three dragons equipped, and my crossbow deals cold damage, does it still have a chance to freeze or will it only ignite now?
what do you mean? it's the level it says it is?
im playing deadeye build, should i just sell everything that is not in my class?
usually yes, disenchant, salvage, sell, trade. i guess it depends on how much you want to do inventory management
what are the differences between yellow/blue items? yellow is just higher quality?
white common
blue magic
yellow rare
brownish? unique(doesn't mean legendary, doesn't mean it's better than rare, it's just unique)
legendary is orange?
there is no legendary
usually blues get 2 mods and rares 6 so thats a huge difference
so i should be looking for rares and uniques depending on the build?
i mean how much damage and hp from monsters increase
for each level
rares is the best, uniques have unique properties on them that you should only use for their unique properties
thats abit difficult, i guess closes you get is going here:
https://poe2db.tw/Trial_of_the_Sekhemas#Floors
and choosing the boss you'd like to see and there you can change it's level
should i be saving these or use em as soon as i get them?
during campaign
alts and augs you pretty much can waste as you wish, if you get something decent might aswell use regals too, you probly won't have enough exalts during your first campaign to use any, you should save 5-10 of those for after campaign
quality on armour is probly not worth it
quality on weapon is probly worth it
sockets are plentiful, use them.
how are u guys getting used to the mouse and keyboard combo! dying too often because i am floundering between keys
either my pointer direction is wrong, or i dodge at the wrong time, or i am hitting the wrong key ! sheesh! too many things to keep track of. any tips?
git gud or you could play without wasd or even use a controller
yeah the controller is my last resort. havent used one before so no idea.
would all the skill buttons be in the controller itself?
yep
or would u use cotriller and keyboard or sth?
it's one or the other atm, i don't think they added support yet so that you can smootly go between the two
and then when we want to open inventory, skill page etc? i dont have a ctrlr, so weighing up if i should buy one
Reborn, I just unlocked my 3 passive combo at level 38. It feels freaking amazing
i use controller for games i feel like should be played on a controller so can't really say but if you don't have a controller already it won't be any easier than wasd
oh nice!! congratz.
oh then, forget it! i'll just play it like i did poe1
this is monk, yeah? i was seeing a guide and it said the skills are tied to the weapon,. what weapn are u using?
Is spark gemling the sorceress class?
gemling is mercenary
Staff, Going for charged staff combo
Hi! I am a d4 player... I saw the poe2 play trailer and would really like to try. Is there a release date yet? Also, I like you have to micro your character. Is there some guide to this?
they told us release date is 6-12months so i guess we're at 4-10 months now
what do you mean by micro?
In d4, the best strategy is to be so overpowered you one shot everything in 1s.
I saw the game play, you have to dodge and do things...
I like that.
at the moment it's the same, i guess you need to dodge little bit more than in diablo but still
You’ll be able to do that with some overpowered builds
why cant i find herald of ice and shock in skills?
Yeah. But in D4 you lower the difficulty until that... so that is fastest way.
click the show all button
Anycase, it is in early access right?
Yes
i expect and hope there will be some major changes incoming soon ish
all gems?
yep, should be there
nope. doesnt exist idk why
You need uncut spirit gem not skill gem
ohh thats why
It’s way easier if you play with friends. But it’s perfectly doable if you’re a solo player.
I was playing sorc and have an alt char (monk) both are op with proper builds.
I one shot the pinical boss lmao
Now (after patch 0.1.1) it’s harder because of how resistances work on bosses though
So, how much can we access if I may ask? I try to search but get different opinions.
But I think the overall game is easier too
Also, isn't it free to play?
half of campaign, classes and 6? endgame bosses
But you get 1:1 in game currency
In steam it is 20 bucks.
Which is valuable cuz you want to get some stash tabs anyways
Sorry 29.99 dollar.
Hmmmm, what is game currency for?
I can’t remember the prices
Mainly to buy skins or stash tabs
You can do without them but it makes your life way easier
Yeah. 29.99$ is a little bit expensive for early access alone...
Thanks.
It’s to show them support. If you don’t want to pay just wait for the release
It will be free then
OK. I will wait then. You also mentioned EA right
EA = early access
aren't we all
Honesty for me at least it was with to pay. I mean I had so much fun with this game
I have 525 hours into this game already lol
does golden charm actually give you the rarity before the boss dies so the rarity applies to them
i'm at 18 cents an hour so pretty good deal
I understand what i have to do to juice this charm now if it works the way I think
afaik is broken atm
Yes
Is it?
i don't know if this is true or not but it's supposed to work on the rare you kill but it might not be working properly
can you only get quality from vaal orbs on charm
Jewelers orbs of different tiers
Oh wait you meant quality
Gencutter prism do increase quality I think ?
doesn't seem like it
quality doesn't seem to matter for charms anyway unless theres slams that do silly things
how do i create my own hideout?
iirc your first hideout needs to be found on the atlas map
does the game keep track of what you reforge to determine ilvl
so I would want to stray away from lower ilvl
tqtq
te quiero? love you too
😆 thank you
how can i add more gems?
jeweler's orb, random drop
can some1 tell me what ES is good against? lets say there's a map mod that says that monsters get some % of their max life as ES. what types of damage are affected/suffer the most?
thank u
What rune should should I put on quarterstaff? Fire/cold/physical damage? It already has a lot of lightning damage
chaos damage deals more damage to ES, other than that it's just extra health
early level's flat runes probly cold>lightning>fire but soon iron runes will start scaling better
so this for instance doesn't convert aka steal max life, just adds more on top of it as ES, right?
Is there a way to fully refund your passive tree?
"gain" "extra" so yes
nope, only 1 by 1
got it, thanks!
oh my goodness...
oh yeah lol, that's pain
ty i guess 😛
I’m using double herald tempest flurry invoker build. physical is better than cold you think?
depends on how you scale it but it still gets added to the damage and if you're doing herald tech then you def need all the extra cold you can get but i think you're high enough level that iron runes scale better anyway
ok jamanra is fucking my little monkussy. how do i get better armor
i have the dps im just getting one shot
wtf
Congrats! But just as a heads up, these help channels we try to keep gameplay question related only. If you want to post your W's, L's, rant etc. then #2┃general is the correct channel.
is there a way to get boss specific items? like if i want to use jamanras weapon or magic is that possible?
Yea i thought about that. I was just so excited. I can move the post!
like dark souls where you take the boss soul and get a boss specific item
anyone know when will the stash tab discount will come?
current estimate is 10days
You're good. Just for future stuff.
10 days from now?
There are some unique items themed around specific bosses/ ingame characters, but they are global drops, not farmable from a specific boss etc.
that’s sick. ty for the info
In the endgame there are some pinnacle bosses with specific loot tables with unique items only they can drop.
there are also poe1 remnants, like doedre's tenure that has flavor text about maligaro but doenst explain who that is
can someone help me with act 2 boss
my rondel amulet gives "+% increased damage" does that mean it gives +% spell dmg and +% cold damage? it has no dotted line on the damage line that i can hover over
Whats a good spell to enhance sparkdmg
It increases the damage to any skill. It wouldn't double up for a single skill, though.
I'm about to hit end game, should I trade 48% increased dmg for 30% spell damage + 42% item find? I heard item find is really important end game
ty
You probably don't want to drop it right away - the extra rarity is important, yes, but not as important as being able to clear out maps.
ok, tyvm
it's a luxury stat so if you can afford to have it then it's nice to have
when do you get more spirit, or do you only get 30 for the entire game?
100 campaign rest comes from gear or ascendancies
and uhh, bog witch gives spirit twice and...that trial thing you did act 1 only gives in normal
Is it just me or would this be quite powerful in hands of a witch?
not really, its probably meant for warriors
Either way, there is much better options for rings for any class
need help with this helmet, I can't socket a 2nd support skill gem into a different skill. It says another skill is using the skill gem, but this helmet should let me add another of the same support skill to another skill gem right?
do you already have 2 of them equipped?
nope, for example impetus, I only have one of them on a skill, trying to put it on a second but it wont' let me
try loading into a new instance with the helmet on and try again
same problem :/
and you do fulfill increased attribute requirements and you're not capping out on gem capacity?
yup I should be, gem requires 178 int, with the 21% increase in attribute requirement it needs 215int. I have 219 int. and my skill gem has 5 slots, so I shouldn't be capping on them
this one
nope not capped
do you hav helmet equipped
What supports are you trying to use? And on which skills?
take the 21% increased into account
I don't see how the 21% inc requirements would mess with supports and not the main skill
But it could be
can try to take some nodes out and get attr, but yeah that's just my guess
I have a stupid question. Path of exile 2 cannot be found in my steam.... Anyone has the same issue?
Or am I being myself (stupid) again?
Did you buy it through steam?
It's also available through epic and the standalone client
Oh it's not in the store at all?
Or it's not in your library?
Because if you bought through the client/poe website then it won't be in your steam library
It is not in the store in my steam client.
I try to buy from the steam client.
Maybe it's not available to purchase in your country? I can see it in my steam store for $30 US
I am using an VPN so I am officially using an account in the USA...
If anything could be called unofficial, then it would be that
can anyone help a brotha through campaign, i'm at ogham village in c1
Yeah, check out #1328202289755983932 to help get upgrades
If it's not in your steam shop, it's not in your steam shop. I'd ask steam support
when new class come?
Already asked. Downloading the main game now.
I really regret didn't find this game earlier...
I mean, it's only been out for like two months
Ah, I see. Rip
Yeah, either dodge or 1-shot everything
D4 is designed to one-shot everything. If you don't, lower the difficulty until you do.
😭
And it is going to be more like this in the future.
Also, I have a friend who will play POE2 with me.
It's okay, you're not playing d4 anymore. You're safe.
Well, the most disappointing thing is that I have been trying to find good two class build. I have a friend who will play together... D4 is not designed that way. There is no coordination between classes
Poe2 isn't a whole lot better, imo. You can try to make builds with synergy, but you won't find anything close to a party comp with tank/healer/dps like in WoW
Well, here is the idea from D4.
it seems not end game anyways comp dont matter cuz everyone wants to 1shot everything lol
Play exactly the same build. Because meta builds are so much more powerful.

I heard it is not the same case in POE
rarity aura block support bot
Yeah, in poe1 meta party comps were usually something like:
-Damage dealer (carry)
-Character to buff the carry's damage
-Character to nerf enemy defense/damage
-Character to massively buff the party's survival
-Character with insane rarity/quantity bonuses to cull enemies for massive lootsplosions
Or something like that. It changes patch to patch.
i'm sure d4 has zDPS supports 😮
Well, in poe1 one person is playing a build and the other 4-5 people follow them around
Well, in season 7, there is bloodwave build.
If you play this meta, you clear everything in 70 hours or so.
For other classes, they haven't yet clear it.
🤪
Luckily this isn't d4 so we can stop talking about it
It's all good as a comparison point
new to poe2 but i need something more in endgame apart from running maps, want some coop stuff sadly
Anyway, I am going to watch lore videos.
It's poe, so I doubt you'll get any content designed for coop
Just a question. Do I need to read the tutorials on YTB? Or does the game explain the mechanics pretty well?
the ingame explanations are pretty good, except for explaining how you access them
if you hold alt on an item you can click any underlined text to read about what it means
Thanks. It will probably download for the whole night. I am then going to skip the tutorials on ytb and watch the lore.
the game is very complex, so if you go in without watching or reading guides it's a big gamble
you might get stuck in the campaign forever until you read a guide xD
you have to at least optimize your build even in the campaign, and in some some builds are really weak compared to others
I will read the guide after I install the game, as well as the build.
Really? The campaign seemed very accessible even when I was cluelessly running grenade merc
For now, it is very hard to understand without even knowing what they are talking about...
Anyone want to help me run act 3
😭
Also, that sounds amazing.
not really, I wish they made the campaign more accessable
By the way, is there a build website now?
I was choosing the wrong builds and when I was choosing the right build it was getting nerfed to the ground xD
campaign took me 80 hours
but a buddy of mine chose the right build and finished the campaign in maybe 40 hours
mobalytics and maxroll pretty much
or just search on youtube
long story short, physical weapons are just better early on then wands and such
that completely depends on your build
like obviously a wand isnt going to be useful if youre not solely using spells
I recommend leveling sorc with a bow...
there isnt really a tier list because every one of those weapons can be really strong

I mean in the campaign
content creators are either paid by icey veins, mobalytics or maxroll to post their guides there, once we have access to API for characters outside the game poe2.ninja is going to be a thing
lightning rod + orb of storms is the strongest levelling setup, but you dont have to use that if you want to try other stuff
just dont forget it either if you do get stuck
Well, I am just trying to explore.
if you still wanna go with spells, I recommend flame wall with spark and frost bomb
well, frost bomb maybe in the first act only
orb if storms is the important part of levelling with spark
sure, and orb of storms
😵💫
I personally went with fireball this is why it was so hard for me
Recommending the fastest options to rush the campaign on a first time playthrough sounds depressing xdd
You only get to enjoy zdps + dodge roll + learn boss mechanics once.
i did fireball too and it was so easy and fun
really? I guess you optimized your build much better than me
I remember I spent 8 hours on the act 2 Jamanra with fireball
was upgrading my gear, coming back to try and kill him
ended up being a 15 minute fight lol
just play minions if you want zdps clear speed
do not play minions
i used frostbolt/ice nova/cold snap on my first time, not super strong, but freezing enemies let me get away with a lot less defences than i probably shouldve had
I have tried that as well in the campaigg, with good leveling uniques
just read all your skills to think of what interactions could be possible
the example, orb of storms + lightning rod is strong because of this line on orb of storms
so every time you use lightning rod while standing near orb of storms, the orb chains a lightning bold to nearby enemies
Sounds boring to only use the 1 build.
😵💫
How to import build into pob2?
Whats the best looking current available skins to purchase in poe2 for you guys?
if you mean using the API to do so, you can't yet
if you just mean importing another build someone made, go to import/export
So manually?
Can we copy items from trade site?
wats howa
best gloves in the game
hands of wisdom something
hey guys, very stupid question, bu here we go. What can I do if I cant beat the Act II Endboss? Yes I could grind levels, but thats boring. Atm I have the best DPS Crowssbow as a Witchhunter possible and following Railgun Witchhunter Build from Mobalytics to a T
One Idea of mine was to upgrade my armor, but its seems it very rarely gives you offensive stats and my problem I got low DPS and not that I cant take hits
I make it to about 20% HP and in the end I dont have the sustain, becuase I think my DPS is way 2 low
Honest answer? More practice.
is an Act boss figh supposed to last 15 min +?
Act 2 endboss is almost entirely avoidable damage, with the closest to unavoidable being the minions that appear during the intermission.
ist there any way to see what dps I should have a what lvl?
Not really. There's not really a metric like that.
why act 2 is so long and a bit of a boring loop? will they adjust that somehow?
they did, its quite easy now. The Deadnought used to be hella tought supposedly on day 1
it was
anyone know how to get the dagger for the sacrifical heart quest I have had the heart in my inventory for like a week and every time i go to the dagger location its never there
dreadnaught as melee .... i cry
Well, that's how you get it. You go to the sacrifice location and pick it up.
Should have a prompt to place the sacrificial heart on the altar if you're in the right place.
also much been changed/improved recently, havent player in a while
yeah the dagger is not there and i cannot place the heart
Not sure what to say. No secret to get the dagger somehow other than that.
Should post a bug report to the forum with some images or a video.
welcome to the club, it took me 8 hours to beat jamanra for the first time 😦
you need to keep optimizing your build until you beat him. get better jewels, items, skill gems, increase quality, add slots for support gems, insert runes, you also need really good defences, not armour, unless it gives also defence against elemental damage
you need energy shield/tons of life/high resistances
if all of that sill won't work, you will have to find another skills
buy items for sure
with regal orbs
Or just beat him with <500 life, no ES, and take no damage 😦
Like the damage is genuinely avoidable.
yeah "get good" is a bad advise most of the time
aka dont get hit
if you deal tons of damage, sure
which is easier said then done
can you survive for half an hour though?
Not sure "go back and put your build to the grindstone until you outdamage the mechanics" is good advice either.
hm seems like a great adise to me
because jamanra is just one boss, he will have to fight many more bosses
Telling new players that it is genuinely necessary to farm/grind just to continue through campaign is bad advice.
why? it's the truth
EVEN if you watch guides, trade and farm, it's still hard
Upgrade, sure. Farm? Grind?
if ya cant afford upgrades you need to farm for them
If you're telling me that you ever went back to kill monsters in an area you already cleared, trying to get an upgrade because you could not progress without it, you and I played different games.
must have then
yes I did, was farming second act till I hit level 38
i also played warrior to start soooo
to kill jamanra
it depends on how much luck you have with the build
you might choose a strong build or a weak build
I mean, I intentionally chose a weak build.
if ya get really lucky you dont need to farm
razarc gets me 😄
The boss fights may not have been as fast, but they were certainly doable.
if you choose lightning arrow with lightning rod for example, you can just cruise through the whole campaign
i re-ran areas many times to get lvls and gold to improve my character to beat later areas many times
some classes are just base line stronger than others as well
not classes, skills
or weapons
mace is rough
fireball is a nice simple skill, effective
i hope they add the other weapons soon so we have more options for melee
what class build tho?
Chronomancer, chaos dot.
So slow damage and no ascendancy damage boosts.
main skill?
Dots.
Essence Drain, Contagion, Dark Effigy, Flame Wall, Poison.
That sort of thing.
I spent several minutes every boss fight doing mechanics and waiting for my stuff to kill the boss.
doesnt sound like a weak build tbh sounds pretty decent
Give it a try sometime, or search the discord.
chrono has some great stuff on it
It's commonly considered quite underpowered. Quite a few bugs, less sources of scaling, and chrono brings no damage to help.
So the fights always went long.
My first Viper fight was at least 5 minutes
chrono is all utility and recoup if i recall, and u can get loads of recoup, was lvling a chrono warrior like character
... you don't bring loads of recoup to an act 2/act 3 normal fight.
You don't have enough ehp to survive strong hits and bring impactful recoup to the build.
of course not i was just saying in general
In Act 3, where are you supposed to dismantle gear you find? I can’t find the bench thing you normally do it at
In town it's towards the "back" (away from the steps)
If you're at the stash, head northwest and both benches should be there.
Do I need to progress past the first “landing area”?
Act 2 need help with colossus boss please!
If you're talking about the area you are first in when you enter Act 3, yes.
The first area of that act isnt a town
You should progress until you reach an actual town shortly.
Kk ty
theres no auto build like cyclone/RF right?
not yet
RF is thematically associated with templar and cyclone with either duelist or marauder, not sure, its likely those skills will get added when they add those classes
hmm
didnt like to spam buttons while playing maps for example, so i might wait for an auto build
hi i just wanted to find out im having problems with charged staff, combat frenzy and resonance. I'm not gettting the power charges from the abilities (I am also playing Monk Tempest flurrry invoker
are you freezing or electrocuting in anyway?
tempest furry electrocuts the mobs as far as i am aware
how do i see if i am or not?
look trough the support gems to see if there's one or two that says the electrocute
i hava electrocute on it already
yeah that should work, are you actually electrocuting them before they die?
you might need neural overload too, i didin't like the combination so i just used freeze
ok thank you!
Still downloading... crying.
Hello people I have a noob question
So Skeleton Warrior minions have energy shields that benefit from Discipline aura skill?
I get that Discipline is nice for Skeleton Mages but I wonder if warriors benefit from this too?
No, discipline gives them energy shield. Unless they're getting it from someplace else. But by default they don't have energy shield.
Do the Skeleton Mages have energy shield?
I don't know. I don't think any minion has energy shield by default. That's why discipline exists. To give it to them.
Oh ok, so if I have Discipline, Skeleton Warriors will get it too then
is there anywhere to get maps of an area? im in grelwood, and would like to find the waypoint for example..
theyre randomly generated
it's procedural, so there's a generic layout you can learn, but the little bits are random
cuz the maps ive been going thru feel identical
we don't have a full list of all the layout rules
ok. so at some point, every so often the outline of a map cchanges, but the general idea stays the same?
hmm. so theres no way for me to know where the waypoint is?
every time you generate a new instance of that zone
Yes basically. imagine there's a guy in the background painting a huge low res image of the map, like "boss here, waypoint here, point of interest here" and then that goes to a layer of randomization which makes a random map that follows the general rules the guy in the background came up with. In POE 1 we have all the possible layouts known, but poe 2 is still new. so you'll need to figure some of it out. someone figured out the apex of filth in a3 on reddit. If the maps were true random it'd be awful lol
Really? I thought it was always same layout just map gets rotated
it's procedural. similar layouts, sometimes rotated probably. random bits on top.
chris gave a whole talk about it at GDC it's very cool
no, theyre not always identical, but theyre not totally random either, above is a good explanation of it
oh. so the bosses, waypoints, entrances and exits are static, but the everything else is randomized?
not completely static
static "within reason"
how am i supposed to improve my gear?
but generally like an exit will normally always be in the same direction
Short answer? Time
should i be trying to find a good starting thing or just take a crude bow and keep slapping somehting into it? if option 2, then what is the thing i amslapping into it
https://discord.com/channels/174993814845521922/1328202289755983932 this is specifically for improving gear without trading
Everytime you level up check the vendors they restock their items and whenever you go to a new act
during campaign what I would do is every few levels I'd check the vendors, and the gambler, and look for upgrades. if a nice new base dropped in the wild, i'd chuck some currency at it and see if it was an improvement. towards the end of a3 I started using the trade site
it also depends on what kind of build you're doing, since some are more gear dependant than others
what am i looking for in the vendors?
i see the gambler in clearfell
gear that is better than the gear you're wearing
how much gambling should i be doing per gear item>?
totally up to you. I probably gambled too much on my first character lol
should i be upgrading my items or should i be saving my upgrade resources for the next tier (idk how this game works) of item that i find
seems like people are linking you to a guide
and it looks pretty in depth! I'd check that out
Yeah, I would answer your questions in more depth, but instead I wrote a guide with all the tips I could possibly give for gearing in the campaign
It got tedious answering people the same way every time so I made that
thamks
is there a way to get back to riverbank? i assume theres a waypoint or something there that i missed
theres no way to go back, theres no waypoint either, you can see because theres no blue glow in the circle
There's also no reason to go back there
that circle being empty is what it looks like when theres no waypoint in a zone
Both poes prevent you from going back to the starting area
ok. i see the difference now. i thought that the grey meant i hadnt found the waypoint. i see theres no spiral.
why?
dunno
no point
also i guess it prevents partying before entering the town, might be some jank code
Well, in poe1 it could be to prevent you from farming oni garoshi on a decked out character
oh yeah thats absolutely it in poe1
Tf is oni garoshi
its a 6-link sword that scales with character levels
Not something for this channel
and a 6-link is basically poe1's way of letting a skill have 5 support gems
theres an achievement in poe1 for dropping a unique in the first zone
tf is 6 link😭
Poe1 shit, don't worry
yea
ye
poe 1 is a much MUCH less forgiving game lol
Depends on who you ask it seems
I hope they add an oni gorishi style thing for the Miller so i can see people suffer unnecessarily for 16+ hours every leaguestart in this game too
Burden of knowledge is much greater in poe1, but the campaign is way more brutal in poe2
whats burden of knowledge
I personally believe poe1 is more forgiving in all systems besides character building
how much you know about the game basically
Character building they are like "fuck you, figure it out". Everything else is just easier/more attempts/more options
nah having to manage sockets while leveling and having to wear objectively worse gear because the sockets line up makes it harder.
its a lot harder to start poe1 without knowing anything about poe1 because not much is explained to you ingame
is there interesting lore in poe? is it good like wh40k/halo(pre343), or is it slapped together like warframe
yes it's super interesting!
It's an idea in game design. Basically, the more stuff the player has to know in order to succeed/play optimally, the higher the burden of knowledge.
For example, tetris has a relatively low burden of knowledge. All the information is right there. Compare that to, say, league of legends or dota 2, where the player not only has to know how their character works, but they also need to know how all nine other heroes in the game operate or else they'll be at a severe disadvantage.
I believe my characters supposed to be delivering a pizza or something to someone in act 6, wasn't paying attention
poe 1 and 2 lore is great imo
It's akin to dark souls lore. Lots of juicy stuff, but you gotta dig for it
the best lore in the game honestly comes from unique item flavor text and random npc dialogue
its my first time anywhere in this sphere, but the continuity between areas feels slim. i go from zombies, to baby zombies, to sandworm from dune, to werewolves, to walking genitals in the red vale. how does that work :/
And text dumps in zones
i think the continuity between zones is actually quite well done
you do need to be paying attention tho
My head canon is that some loading zones are literally going through a door and some are three day hikes
ok
with that perspective, makes mroe sense.
But there's no in-universe explanation for the monster diversity being so abrupt between zones
still tho. what are the maw demons.
i think all of act 1 takes place over a single day just because of the lightning
If you read the lore in some spots, there's reason to believe that the count fucking shit up actually made the moon stay in the sky for way longer than it should have
Or maybe it's all literally one day between the poe2 trailer and murdering him
Wait, do we see the sun rise in the trailer?
That throws my theory out the window
in act 2 its a lot clearer that it takes place over weeks, maybe months
the caravan travelling across the whole desert defeinitely would take that long
Yeah, that's how long it takes people to beat balbala in real time
(based on this channel)
And jamanra
not everyone can sink 8 hrs a day into this
haha
I truly don't understand why that matters. If you have four hours a week to play then you're still learning and accomplishing the same amount of stuff per hour as someone who plays 40 hours per week
balbala i never had trouble with, jamanra i had trouble with on my first playthrough as i didn't understand i had to stand near asala during his wind (?) attack
but when i understood what to do, i never had trouble with him again
4 hours a week means 1 hr every other day. you will forget what you did in the last 10 minutes of each session. :/ less concentrated sessions, less learning...
Im the same. For some reason a lot of people see balbala go invisible and just give up without looking around the arena...
Jamal was annoyingly tanky and caused me to rethink my build's skills entirely
Idk, I can see your point for the lack of focus and taking time to get back into it, but I don't see how that means you learn less. If anything, reviewing what you did last time helps you learn better
Of my hardcore deaths, none of them were to an act boss so far
not everyone is studying poe 🙂 some people just get on, try to keep going fforward wo paying attention
Then with that mindset they're going to do the same learning per hour with 4 hours a week or 40.
lmao
if you are playing 40 hrs a week
you are doing 8/6 hours a dayt
thats time when someone could be passsivley staing at guides
and you wont forget as much
How tf do you passively stare at a guide?
4 hrs into a 40 hr session is like 6 or 8 into a 4 hour week session
2nd monituor
w passive perk tree or skills to get
That's not learning, that's mimicry
all learning is mimicry
Not true
then yoiu learn enough to add different parts of past mimicry into something new
how did you learn to write or speak or read. how did you learn in the tutorials of most games. copy what you are told to do :/
Sorry, let me rephrase. Mimicking passive trees and skill setups does not help you actually learn what those things do or help you figure out how to make your own builds
And I'm a poe player, I never learned how to read
tru. but it will help you get to a place where you can find gear n stuff better & it also gives you an example of a good build, so you know what level of dps is "good"
not really
And even if staring at guides DID help you learn, it would be the same amount of learning with 4 hours or 40
a lot of people in here have problems with their builds because they blindly follow guides without trying to understand why the guide builds the tree a specific way, uses specific uniques or gear, etc.
My whole argument here is that you can still make about the same amount of progress per hour regardless of the amount of hours played
my experience with halo 3 was that my 1 hour gaming sessions kept me locked in the desert level for half a month. if i had 15 extra minutes, i would have been able to get past...
Guides only actually help the player learn if the player is actively trying to understand why the build recommends what it does. Having been in help channels for a while, i can tell you that like 50% of people who come here aren't attempting to figure that out and are just blindly following the build
but thats me
This game has copious amounts of checkpoints
And if you can't make it to the next checkpoint in the time you have to play in a day, then this game likely doesn't fit your life
i was coming at this from teh perspective of getting to a boss and being stuck because bad gear/ bad skills/ no bitches etc... fixing that is a long term task that interruptions would reduce the efficiency of.
but its ok
agreee to dissaggree
I already conceded that there would be delays due to frequent interruption. We agree there at least
👍 gtg
Sometimes I wonder if I'm horribly derailing this channel
And then I read back through the last 10 pages and I stop wondering
what would yall say is the most common elemental damage type in the campaign? really just trying to figure out which ones to prioritize maxing first
the way I see it, in this game you have to read or watch guides or else you probably won't even make it through the campaign -_-
fire
the way I see it, in this game you have to read or watch guides or else you probably won't even make it through the campaign -_-
Personally disagree.
meh I really only looked stuff up if it wasn't explicitly explained
May not be the easiest or quickest playthrough, but the game gives you everything you need for a campaign playthrough at least.
well if you get lucky and choose the right build and then optimize it the right way, then you are good
I don't think you need guides. I definately haven't used any
but what are the chances?
It doesn't take an optimal build though.
Pretty good I imagine? you just need to keep your head on straight when looking at skills / the passive tree
I absolutely just messed around with abilities that sounded cool to me, definitely didn't make optimal choices, didn't trade for gear.
and try not to overcommit to anyrthing too early
are you guys poe1 players?
I do agree that a good build is difficult to naturally discover given the sheer number of skills and supports
Flame Wall was in my build for the longest time just because I thought chaos projectiles going through the flame wall looked cool 😅
because I am talking about mainly beginners
I am, but my brother isn't and he has had the same experience as me
I see
I think that it's very easy to look at "THE OPTIMAL BUILD" and think you're doing it wrong
but it's better if you just don't do that
Also the number of skills gems you get to experiment with really makes the first act and maybe even the second a pain if you don't build correctly
I found out weeks later that apparently summoner was supposed to be srs arsonist at launch
hmm I got a lot of experience with RPG games and I was following different guides in the campaign but still it was incredibly hard and took forever
and if you did anything else you were making a huge mistake
This campaign can be survived largely by
- Keep your life up
- Keep your resistances up
- Build some kind of global defense consistently
- Find at least one ability that does damage and pick gear/passives that help that ability
- Learn the boss abilities and dodge (not required, but helps a lot)
Unless you're going up against something that does a LOT of a specific damage type (cold for count geonor, lightning for jamanra, etc) then I'd advise just going for whatever gives you the most res in total rather than prioritize a specific type
Totally. In particular I'm tossing in runes to fill out and trying to figure out which made more sense but I do agree.
I add up all the res see what gives the highest total btw
yeah I just kind of went at it blind. picked minions. went for minion respawn time. went jfor minion damage. had some struggle moments in a2 and reworked some stuff. then unlocked skeletel reavers and took off. I think I looked up how the dog ignite effect on infernalist worked once lol
yeah, also choose the right weapon and skills, upgrade the skill gem quality, add slots for support gems, insert runes, know which mods to look for and how to craft and trade etc etc
I just maxed out my first slot (monk) I want to try mercenary mage and ranger but idk what to start first
No. I did none of these.
you were lucky with the build you chose then
You can use any skill on any class. What archetype/skill do you want to use?
Chaos dot chronomancer? The secret OP strat? 😅
if 1 gear gives like 70 res total either in 2 or 3 mods I personally treat it as a very good one.
I think that attributing good decision making to luck robs you of your own agency. don't do it friend
a friend of mine was following my advise of spark+flame wall and got completely stuck in the campaign for example
Like I didn't feel lucky when Viper ran me a 4-5 minute, but I absolutely did beat it.
because he just didn't know how to upgrade skills, items, what passives to take etc
There's certainly room to optimize, but you're only really "failing" if you're comparing yourself to the streamer that has thousands of hours in poe1 and is tearing through the campaign.
I’ve seen builds on all of them. I want to try the stat maxing piller of the caged god mercenary build and I want to try 200k dps shock mage idk
If you darkness then you can't get any spirit
that's a lucky build. some of my bosses took me 15 minutes
Both are very good but very expensive
I promise you most people in here would not be happy with a 5 minute boss fight, and would not call chaos dot a "lucky" or "strong" build.
I have almost 150 divines is that enough?
Most people would agree it has several bugs, and is lacking in ways to scale your damage.
Idk, is it luck to find strong interactions from reading lots of stuff?
@azure lava I'm still doing ice/lightning build so I didn't invest into darkness
I guess my main point is that the campaign in this game is incredibly hard unless you luck out with the choice of build, and you generally have to follow guides and learn about the game
Yeah, probably lol. You're probably better off asking in #2┃build-planning or #2┃after-acts-help
I have read a lot of stuff too and I thought my skill interaction was strong
turned out it wasn't
Hard disagree, but we're allowed to have opinions.
I think poe2 for me has been quite forgiving compared to poe in terms of what it demands from your build for the campaign.
You get 100 from the campaign, and the only other ways you can get it on chayula monk is from chest pieces, amulets, and other uniques
I mean, it was still way stronger than my build lol
this is my experience too
it's way easier to go in a different direction if something isn't working in this game
some other popular RPGs are like 10 times easier in the campaign
Was the interaction weak or was your gear weak?
hell, even dark souls and elden ring games are easier imo
both
Thanks
We don't know that though?
For all I know you were dealing with mechanics differently, and did not have as much time to deal damage or were constantly needing to wait for regen.
For all I know, you didn't check vendors for gear upgrades, or use the items that constantly dropped for you that said "add a modifier to a magic item" to get better synergy from your gear.
Hey, does anyone know anything about minions and can tell me which is better to start with, Archer or Arsonist?
Like we can't know how your build did, or what choices you made 😦
I'd argue elden ring is way too simple, so it makes the game easy if you have any idea how stat scaling works (stares at reduvia dagger)
But the answers are all in front of us, no guide required.
I don't think someone's ability to accurately clock a strong interaction is "luck" tho
Probably arsonist for leveling, because you can scale them easily with flame wall and srs
You want to talk about optimizing mapping or crafting, I can see an argument there that people need to* (or should) get into outside resources.
Campaign though?
release would not agree with that, nobody had guides and most did just fine
Luck makes it sounds like you threw darts to pick your skills, passives, and ascendancy and won big
I tried to learn about the game and checked vendors, but didn't craft
idk, I feel like you guys all come from poe1
it gives you a big advantage
I speak as someone who started with poe2
yes feeling strange Arsonist for Clear and archer feeling better for bosses the gas one shot bosses very crazy .
I got tons of experience with diablo 2 and 4, lost ark and similar games
Of course I did, but the only advantage it gave me was I found out before I died or I got a giant banner message saying my resistances were lowered that I needed to build defensively 😅
yep! and there's nothing wrong with doing both while leveling. as you move later into the game I've personally found that it's very hard to support multiple types of summons effectively, so I'd recomend against that. but for leveling just do what works
again, the player numbers for the weeks after release would not agree with that
oh and skeletal reavers are insane and as soon as you get them just go hard on them
and many did not come from any experience then
The only thing that I would say is that unlike many games in the genre, poe (as a series now) both expects and forces you to invest in your defenses throughout the campaign.
ok thx 🙂
yeah I was actually pretty shocked how well some of my non-poe friends picked it up.
Yeah I thought so, thats why I have considered grabbing a Morior Invictus with spirit per socked rune or soul core. I'm close to the end of act 3 cruel and have not had any issues through cruel, with only 1 or 2 deaths so far with my setup but I need the spirit.
I think the poe's reputation is just so good that a lot of new players like myself made a lot of effort to learn the game
You will upgrade your gear, you will take life/res, or you will be dying on occasion at a minimum.
it's much easier to pick up than poe1, that's for sure
but its sad we have no splash or somting. 😄
we had better retention than any poe1 league even with all the new players, who usually depress retention by being more liable to quit
yeah the way they deal area damage is by there being so many of them since their spirit cost is low
like yeah I technically have no aoe but I do have 16 skeleton reavers
but unfortunately we have the constipation problem....
uhhhhhh what? oh doorways! yes that blows. but now that they tp to you if you get far away it's manageable
Small areas the dead for Meele Minions...
i want convocation so Bad .... 😄
what constipation problem?
he means that minions struggle to fit through doors if you have too many lol
chokepoints
it is definitely the worst part about summoners right now
is +4 cap for the uber encounters ?
Hello can someone tell/help me to find best deadeye build to follow?
or can you spec for +6 ?
check out after-acts help sorry. this is for campaign questions
Um, I apparently have -Fire Resistance?
you can't just say best, it can mean different things
yes you lose 10% resistance each act
Can happy sadly, one of the ways the game encourages you to build more resistances 😦
Ideally you want to keep your resistances as close to the cap (75%) as possible, but getting them positive would be a good start.
I wish I hadn’t bought this game lmao what is that
not sure now necessary that is in campaign
what's wrong?
Balance
It's a way to make sure that you don't play through the campaign, get to the endgame, then get dumped into maps and wonder why you're getting one-shot by everything.
a very very small drawback each act lol. you can get around it pretty easily
It gradually progresses the damage you take, encouraging you to build your resistances up over time.
As you progress, gear keeps becoming able to roll higher amounts of resists too. It makes it so that you still have gear upgrades after the first act.
Wouldn’t the more intuitive thing be to just… make enemies deal damage that scales to the damage you’re gonna take in endgame content?
Then you wouldnt have gear progression
poe follows in the diablo 2 footsteps
I personally love it
that's why negative resistances
Cause I’m sitting here with 11% fire resistance and I’m like… I know that’s not right
Then I remove one of my pieces of gear and then it’s negative
They do, but then you would end up in situations where the gear that was dropping would need to maintain current resistance levels rather than becoming better and offering more resistances in individual slots.
oh make sure that you look around the acts! there are permanent resist buff in some zones
Leading to you needing to give up more of your other helpful stats to fit those resistances.
I have killed every boss that one can kill in Act 1 and 2
I just made it to Act 3 today
oh nice what are you playing?
At least, every boss that shows up on the point of interest map
Stormweaver
oh cool I was gonna roll one of those next. any good?
The difference between a giant "resistances lowered by 10% banner" when you enter a new act and enemies dealing damage increased to the same amount as if your res got lowered is that one is visible to the player immediately, and one you don't find out until you get hit and wonder why you just started dying.
I know what I prefer
I mean, I’m having fun. But idk
lol fair. at any rate. since resists are a percentage thing, just raising enemy damage wouldn't be a great solution to increasing the gear requirements, since the percentages cap out eventually. this forces you to upgrade your gear.
No see I think that’s far worse because if you start dying faster, you’ll realize that you need more defense since… that’s just standard fare in 99% of RPGs
... faster than immediately upon entering an act and being greeted by a giant "You have lower resistances" banner before you even see an enemy?
again it's because resists are a percent. it's why they don't lower your evasion/armour/energy shield. those are flat values that you build
Like the end result is the same, enemies do more damage, but one you literally have a giant warning about the difficulty increase almost immediately upon entering an act, before you fight anything.
it screws up the scaling
Like I'm not sure how it gets any faster.
the only reason the enemies in higher acts have more hp & deal more damage are because their monster level is higher
I’m not sure I understand how
so there is a certain consistency between player level and monster level
but more importantly it screws up the way resistances are balanced
you'd have revamp all of that if there werent any penalties
which if you really want you can do that, but the upside is questionable
at the end of the day, lowering resists has been a thing since the days of d2. It's been tested and found to work in this kind of game. it makes sense for this defense type.
Personally I'm not a big fan of the diablo approach of "Let me raise the torment level, and I'm getting one shot again, guess I need more of... something?"
hi lf for people to help
what do you need

lol they want to be the one doing the helping

Also if you don't know the answer to a question, either research first or don't answer/preface you aren't sure.
okayy :3
i was in poe1 help channel for like 2 years before my name randomly changed green
i think its moldy or something
xd
Really though im pretty sure they just update helper roles based on recent activity every few leagues (when a league launches theres a massive influx of new people asking questions so it helps to have new helpers)
