All good, there's a lot of info. You lose the extra bolt but the damage matters more. Later in the game you can focus more on getting a base type with the implicit you want.

Personally I kept a few skill gems around the breakpoints for new skills for alts, so they could easily get the spells that required a certain level of gem.

In multiplayer there is a scaling option which scales player power to similar levels. As far as I know, there is additional life per player.
There are even some mechanics that specifically scale with player count, like how slows are less effective based on the number of nearby players (regardless of whether or not they are also using slows)

I would say 4th slot is too early for your level if this is your first character. 3 slots should be enough. the best way to farm exalts is to finish the gampaign and then to do maps or the chaos trial at least

I'd pick a skill you enjoy and then build around it to play to its strengths and cover its weaknesses. You can make basically any skill work to at least beat the campaign

I'm currently leveling with spark and flame wall as a mercenary and I just specced into projectile and lightning damage in the tree until I can swap to main skill at level 41

the two popular slam options are Sunder, which removes the best debuff you have and requires getting accuracy, and Stampede, which requires player precision and gets blocked by every pebble and (should be) puntable critter

I'm going to respec all of my projectile and lightning damage nodes once I spec into my corrupting cry build. Respeccing is pretty cheap. You can level with something completely different fairly easily

Hello! I just got poe2 and just finished act 1. It was def a challenge for me. I know this game is made for more of a challenge but I'm having a hard time understanding how to play. All the build guides I've looked at seem to assume you've reached end game before and have access to gearand things you wouldn't normally get just during the campaign for the first time.

Does anyone have a guide for truly new players?

I think mostly in struggling with the gear stats. I have a low level bow that does 12-15 damage but has like 10% attack speed because the other now I have, which does like 20 damage, doesn't have the attack speed buff so it actually does less damage. Seems like it's arbitrary

The stats at the top are modified by local affixes on the item. So if a stat at the top is blue, then thats showing the stat after a local affix has modified it

They are both basic weapons, white damage numbers. The only difference between the two is the damage amount and the lower damage one has +10% attack speed so it fires faster. Seems like I'd need a bow that does 30+ damage to replace my current lower damage one.

I'm not getting enough orbs to swap out modifiers to improve the other bow. I'm just confused how it all works I guess. Seems to be heavily reliant on luck.

you can estimate weapon damage with just the numbers at the top.

Add up the damage range and divide by 2 for average damage. Then multiply by attacks per second.

you will get higher level baryas that reward more ascendency points later on. ~lvl 60 i think is when the 3rd trial ones start dropping. They are random drops

Rerolling mods isn't really a thing, especially in the campaign. It's mostly finding new ones or using transmutes+augments on bases to try to roll good mods
