If you want to, doing the tidal island one gets you a flask reward
What does a flask do?
Well, a health flask restores health, a mana flask restores mana
Quicksilver flask gives you extra movement speed
They do a bunch of stuff
Is it worth investing my time as a new player?
getting the flask
Yes
It's really easy
You kill one guy, you get the medicinal chest thing, and you just give it to Nessa
You don't have to but, it's pretty easy to do so
It won't take you ages
ohh sorry!
Quick note that this is the poe2 help channel
Is there a channel for general questions and stuff? Cause I have one that hasn't been answered
not really. probably asking in one of the poe help channels would get more views
Which one? Cause most of them are either about guides or crafting advice or builds and stuff
#1┃after-acts-help or #1┃endgame-help i guess
So for the people that got the 300 coins with the early acces key, what do you guys recommend spending it on? Assume a fresh account
anyone help me out with a poe2 key 😉
stash tabs. we don't know exactly what'll be useful, but a premium and currency tab are a safe purchase
and maybe a map tab
there'll be a stash sale the weekend of the ea launch
You probably have some time before you need those extra tabs right? So you could just see what is good at that moment?
That's great
in poe1, you can get through the campaign just fine on the starting tabs
Okay, so no guarentees but it is a nice indication
Was this confirmed 🤔
It's not
@long cape character 1 and 4 in that screenshot are sorceress and witch
Yea just found it confusing as it starts dame place as duelist which i seriously view as melee sorry serenity lol
Do you think with the mercenary ascendancy with 3 extra skill slots ud get into trouble w a controller?
Your guess is as good as ours
No wait, its the hot swappable passive points
That you can spend on specific passive clusters
you can have 2 slightly different trees for each weapon set
is there a skill or build that hits a lot during a very short time? even if it requires me to stay still or something?
Does dodge roll evade spells?
So only not aoe effects, or only aoe effects by bosses?
If i may be as curious, how does this make sense? Arent you basically trading full avoidance of damage for 30% reduce
I know i am probably wrong but I don't see what is means exactly
The monster skills are not categorized as spells or attacks anymore. What matters is that dodge works against projectiles and strikes, but not against aoe.
This is what Viper said:
“
- melee strikes and projectiles will miss you for the first ~half of the dodge roll animation, so it has partial iframes
- while the overall speed is the same as running, it starts fast and slows down, so provides a burst of speed to get out of the way of things”
When I say works it means the iframes at start of dodge work against it. Moving away can help against aoe but it's not overall faster than running. It's just faster at start and slower at end.
So everything is damage from now on? Or is there still aoe
From monsters
I mean dot sorry
I may be saying something dumb i am trying though lol 🙂 for as far as my knowledge allows
There can be ground effects or ailments from monsters. Can't dodge those, except maybe the hit that tries to apply ailments.
December 6 is way too fucking long from now, I’m getting a little impatient (I think that Nov. 21 announcement had us edging til Dec. 6, wtf)
Do spells fall under projectiles in poe 2?
Sorry, or does dodge roll not avoid spells at all
In the first half
Your spells may have projectiles or not, depending on spell. But enemy projectiles are not "spells" or "attacks" because that doesn't matter for your defenses. They're just projectiles.
I think it’s supposed to act as a dodge to hoth
AoE or projectile the closer you dodge roll to it, it might still hit, especially aoe projectile
I remember seeing that flaming enemy, Sun boss, when the ranger or character dodged it, she still hits one of the bullet hell while dodging
Or dodge rolling from it
Ah yes thanks guys
what options exist to roll magic items at the moment?
orb of aug exists and does what it does today
but theres no orb of alt
because it seems a generic league start crafting process seems something like perfect magic item -> Essence -> omen + exalt -> if fail omen + annul
Sounds like you know the known options. https://www.poe2wiki.net/wiki/Currency
A currency item is an item that can be used to achieve an effect, usually crafting on an item, paying a vendor, or a crafting bench cost.
So this means, u do get hit first, but after that your basically immune for 1s. Or instant 1s immune?
Someone will have to try it in the game.
I am asking this because of the word after
Does anyone know of the changes to poison?
I remember poison being a little slower as you had to build up stacks
Has anything changed?
Default is max 1 poison stack now. See wiki. Pathfinder and passive tree can get you +1 each I think.
For me it sounds pretty clear: You do not take any dmg from ground effects for one second after stepping on it. After one second you will BURN.
Basically you have a one second window to realize that u are standing on bad ground
And I assume this applies to each ground effect instance
i guess massive server problems on day one. Can we play solo offline ?
No offline play
We suffer together
Thanks, sad but thanks
Sadly we do. Good thing: Teachers dont work on weekends^^
What is your guess for day two?
Oh u assume we will only have server issues on Friday?
If it helps at all. While this is an entirely new frontier, GGG is usually really good about server stuff. There are usually a couple of hiccups upon a new league launch, but it's usually resolved fairly quickly.
Again, we're hitting entirely new records with poe 2, so I expect more issues than a popular league launch. But it's at least a bit comforting to know GGG is usually on top of their server stuff.
I guess (hope) it is unplayable on day one and laggy servers on day two but we can play
Not to mention sales have been exploding since day 1. So they're probably taking as many precautionary measures as possible
Yeah i hope they overstack servercpacity for the first week and "downstack" after it
I might be overly optimistic, but I think, while we'll definitely have some server issues; I think people are overblowing it a bit.
If a company can deliver it would be GGG. But Serverproblems are so often...
Between them being keenly aware, better than anyone's speculation, of how well their game is selling and how many people to expect to play. Them not wanting their game to look bad on day 1. Them generally being good about server stability. I think we're gonna be fine in the grand scheme of things
knock on wood. I truly hope so.
i can watch only so many DMTV Videos to feed my hype^^
Is there a list somewhere of thus far revealed skills of poe 2
But a good amount of them may be out of date. It's not datamined, but rather just things taken from basically every video/screenshot shown over the past few years.
I looked through havoc video today and found the Volley support probably won't be there anymore. I was looking forward to that. Plans changed.
Thanks. Are these class bound skills in this poe?
No, the only skills that are class bound are any skills you might get from an ascendancy
No it's not. It's just categorized there because crossbow stuff is thematically tied to merc
any class can use any skill, any weapon, any armour, etc
Ah lol
Just need the attributes for it
With the new passive tree just make a marauder INT stacker ez
i dont think getting attributes gonna be any problem in poe2
Yes, weapon skills are usually based on the weapon's damage. You need to be a little careful when reading skills that do multiple hits and stuff. The ingame tooltips may have multiple tabs but the site will only show the first one - in fact often we've only ever seen the first one in recordings.
Spark automatically bounces off walls right?
You mean as in for example multiple hits may do different percentages
We only see the first?
Im sorry if im wrong im pretty new
No, I mean lets say I fire spark and it hits a wall. Does it bounce off of this wall or are those projectiles gone?
Cause when looking at footage it looks like this, but the gem doesnt say anything like this
Well it does say it expires until it hits an enemys or is travelling for 2s. So maybe walls wont cause the projectile to expire?
Hi new to PoE2 and I got a question. Where in this discord is there a list of awesome tools websites I should download and bookmark?
So I dont think there's a channel or command for that as far as I know. But for poe 1 specifically some of the highlights are:
- Path of Building (community fork) - a community made tool that is basically a full character planner/simulator.
- poe.ninja - a website that aggregates general pricing of all non-gear items in the game, as well as a giant list of players current builds
- craft of exile - a crafting helper/simulator website to help with crafting projects or to see what mods can roll on items
- wealthy exile - a website for people who are farming specific mechanics to see what kind of currency flow they're getting, as well as checking stashes to see their current "wealth"
- maxroll.gg - a more new-player focused site to get full build guides that are more hand-holdy than other guides
- Awakened PoE Trade - a 3rd party tool that overlays a thing in your game that shows you what things might be valued at.
- poe lurker - a tool that helps expedite player-to-player trades
- filterblade.xyz - the site for the gold standard of loot filters. Can also be accessed through the item filters page on the poe website
PLEASE NOTE that these are all for poe 1. There aren't any of these tools for poe 2 yet. A lot of these are going to take a bunch of work to get up and running for poe 2 and may take weeks or maybe months to get in a useable state
Thanks. I appreciate it. I'm excited for PoE2 and I love my bookmarks when I play games I like.
I already have the wiki and poe2db
There's not really any complete tools for PoE2. Because the data for the game isn't available yet for people to mine / check things in game.
That being said there's: https://poe2db.tw/us/ and https://www.poe2wiki.net/wiki/Path_of_Exile_2_Wiki which hold some currently known information.
However, I'm keeping my eye on /r/pathofexile and /r/pathofexile2 for links a few days after PoE2 Early Access (EA) has launched for tools and things after I make several scuff'd builds
👍
Yeah I'd say maybe periodically check on some of those if they look interesting to you. I wouldn't expect any of them to be available in the near future. A lot of them are going to take a TON of work that can only be accessible once the game is actually available
Raises a Totem that bombards enemies afflicated by Chaos damage over time Debuffs.
What does rhis mean. The node (dark effigy) doesnt specify damage or anything else. Its a totem
since poe 2 wont have maps what will happend with the map tab in po2?
Unknown. Maybe it turns into a waystone / tablet tab? Maybe it just isn't used. We'll find out on Dec 6th.
hope so
Does this make sense supporting a chaos skill?
I guess "damage" can be any type right?
Yes
Thanks
It really only makes sense for a skill that deals chaos damage (or has its damage converted to chaos), since it has "deals 50% less with non chaos damage".
Theoretically, some build could have such strong synergies only with chaos dmg that it makes sense to use this in a non-chaos or partial-chaos skill despite overall dmg loss on the skill itself.
The penalty is large compared to the bonus though.
Just make sure it's your big hitter move and stack on some more powerful supports
Added Fire/Cold/Lightning damage gems also 'gain 25% of damage as [x] damage' but each has 50% less damage of the opposing elements (but not physical or chaos!)
And then there's the new Hourglass support:
its only for attacks, there werent shown any chaos attacke yet
Thanks for that i looked over it
aren't there a few bow attacks that poison?
they do but they dont have full chaos conversion i think
in poe2 conversion and added dmg works differently
it doesnt scale with original modifiers
Am i reading this correctly as in it can only be skills that last longer? Sorry trying to learn
Or can it be any skill as long as you keep moving?
any damaging skill
of course, it won't really work with skills that you use before you can move 2 metres
Stampede stocks going up
But serenity if you just approach a very active playstyle of constant walking around isnt getting to 2 meters easy?
Walk a bit, attack, walk a bit, attack, etc
Of course we hoping for some + movement speed aswell
momentum only works if you move while using the skill
Seems pretty hard to find good amounts of movement speed outside boots.
not inbetween uses
ASCENDENCY BOSS TIPS:
based on ziggy d's video.
If you want to ascend in act 2 you will ahve to do that sanctum.
And you will have to fight that final boss.
Heres the tip:
THe boss does this attack that plants volcanoes. It's very clearly teepgraphed and regularly spaced (it has some fixed cooldown).
Intentionally position yourself so that you can gather the volcanoes on top of each one side of the map (near the back end wall).
When the boss enrages, retreat to the opposite side, baiting the volcanoes along the perimter. After, fight the boss in the middle and gg.
Yes serenity but isnt like a festure of poe 2 rhat you can basically keep moving while attacking?
Looked like it in some vids
yes, that's why that support is worded that way
Yea but wouldnt the scenario i just said work then, move attsck move attack
I am sorry if misunderstanding
so, you press the skill button, and if you move 2 metres before the skill fires off/finishes, then the skill will get the damage buff
So basically it has to be skills with a long cast time for example
Ah makes sense thanks a lot
is coop fully implemented?
yes
Sorry my last question ess about poe 2 on the poe 1 sub
Kinda wanna keep playing both so just generally trying to learn the poe language
you can dodge roll out of animations
this is the right channel for poe2 questions
does cooping through campaign cause the mobs to have more health?
Yeah mobs add a little more than 100% life per person in the party
So having like, a 3 person party doesn't mean 3x life. But maybe closer to something like 3.5x life or so
Using a pathfinder in poe 2 and putting a higher limit on poisons u can still apply 1 per hit right
I assume so
I heard Penetration doesn’t make an effective resistance go negative anymore, is that correct? Does the same go for elemental Exposure?
penetration is correct. idk about reducing resistances
7 days, 21 hours and 55 minutes
This is gonna be fun i think..
Probably a dumb question, but I play PoE through steam. Just bought the EA supporter pack for PoE 2 from the in game shop. Expected to see PoE 2 show up in my steam library, but there is nothing there. Do I have to do something else or will it just show up closer to launch?
If you have your game's organized it might be all the way at the bottom. (in a folder called "uncategorized").
might have to login to your account on the website, go to your profile, click 'path of exile 2 early access' on the right panel
In my friend’s case getting the game on the site included getting a Steam key to add it to the library, check if you have one of those?
sure
poe2 is online only
Anyone know if the standalone client will be release for EA? I got a PoE2 supporter key and linked my account to steam but its not generating a steam code for me? Logged back out and in, refreshed the page.
Wait this might be the wrong channel
Eh, could be wronger. Not like there's much discussion in here anyway. There will be a standalone launcher for the EA, likely to be released a day or two before the EA launch.
And i think they ran out of steam codes, due to higher than expected demand, so wait a day or two and new ones should be generated
If you paid the money, your account is enabled and you'll get into the ea somehow
You automatically have early access after buying an early access supporter pack if you want to play on a standalone client.
yea I tried
Steam keys will return in a few days
Well there you go. Check that page again in a day or two it would seem. 😄
Thats the correct spot. It'll change to a button to redeem a key when it's working
Also there's no pre-load currently so you aren't missing out on anything 😉 except maybe for pushing the game up the steam charts lol
will there be character creation
As in like changing their face and hair? No
Classes all look how they look. But you don't really look at your character in poe
all the characters have a history and personality. they're not blank slates
No point. Your build is your character's identity and you're covered in gear and using all kinds of skill effects.
how are there so many guides out already when the games not out yet?
What guides?
most of them are likely theory crafting. the rest are scams/clickbait/etc
There isn't nearly enough information to have any sort of actual guide. So whatever you found is either clickbait or just someone throwing around vague ideas
all i'm really seeing are theory crafting vids
coping videos
What class are you guys planning on using first? I'm leaning towards mercenary or monk
Monk - Invoker (or) Sorceress - Chronomancer
warrior and see which ascendacy has more static number
Warrior - titan - big stick go bonk - TWO big sticks????
is there a lowdown on what classes/skills/wep are available in the ea
i have been veryyy hyped* for the summoner but idk if thats available nxt week
The classes are Witch, Sorceress, Monk, Ranger, Mercenary, and Warrior.
The weapons are wands, staves, quarterstaves, bows, crossbows, and maces.
There are too many skills revealed, and not even all of them, but there are plenty of skills for each of those weapons. And yes, there are minion skills (shown as being Witch skills, but useable by any class), so you can go for a summoner build 🙂
im kinda tempted to use spectres after hearing they are a bit of a pokemon-esque mechanic
which class is the witch hunter alr
Witch Hunter is a Mercenary ascendancy
And yeah, spectres look like a pretty cool option. I'm not a minion player, but the poe2 minions look much closer to the original intention of poe1 spectres (which were notoriously hard to balance and so ended up mostly nerfed to support-minions)
ah
anyone has poe2 passive tree build website?
devs haven't released the tree yet
Game isn't out yet
what game?
do we know what rage does?
Will we all crash when joining a town on launch? I wonder.
How many players can be in the same town? Does someone know?
towns can have multiple instances
There's always multiple instances of public zones... So if the server holds up in general, it shouldn't be an issue
Well, the statement holds true even if I remove "public"
is sea server available on poe2?
Don't think they mentioned what servers are available yet
As a guess, servers are likely to be in same locations as POE1
Usually the hardest part of new leagues in PoE 1 is escaping the starting town.
settlers of kalguur was the roughest in recent history due to popularity
and then never going back to town until you beat act 1 out of fear
"effect of ignite". What does this mean
I mean shouldnt it be damage, or are they talking about the duration
ailments work differently
Okay so what does this mean exactly do u know
Does rhe key work for steam u think?
Yea it isnt phrases like that in poe 1 right?
right
they work differently and things are worded differently
conversions and 'gained as' work differently too
All we know is at https://www.poe2wiki.net/wiki/Ignite
Ignite is a damaging ailment that deals fire damage over time.
I would like the key for steam if thats possible dont thibk its separated
I feel like viper mentioned that "effect of ailments" has been changed to different wording that is more clear? Not certain of the details though
are ailments just based on skill elemental type or does it specifically have to say it inflicts that type of ailment for it to take effect?
Thanks moth
ignite will only be applied with fire damage
"The chance to apply ignite depends on the amount of pre-mitigation damage dealt relative to 25% of the monster's ailment threshold.[1] Critical strikes do not inherently always apply ailments, but they do indirectly affect the chance to apply ailments due to critical damage bonus affecting the damage dealt. Because the ignite chance is determined pre-mitigation, resistances and other damage reduction do not affect it."
Yea it has been nerfed
right, but lets say you are autoattacking with a mace, since that attack type is physical there's an inherent chance to inflict bleeding?
It now is like chill with a treshhold
I got to say they did a good job balancing it feels like everything too op or unbalanced is gone
Does anybody understand the meaning and calculation order of the new 'gain x% of _ _ _ damage as _ _ _' and 'gain x% of _ _ _ damage as extra _ _ _ damage' ?
Still expecting it to be similar to poe1 formula at https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Damage
Mind you, one things that trips people up in poe1 and likely poe2 is local vs global modifiers, which has already been sorted out before this formula. The numbers on a weapon may be applied at a different step than numbers on other gear pieces.
Damage is the process by which a player or monster's life or energy shield is reduced.
This page focuses on damage being dealt by the player. For information on damage dealt by minions, see Minion. For information on how elemental damage affects the player, see status ailments and resistances. For information on when damage is applied see, recei...
What is "bombards"
Just a term for attacks?
I just wonder becUse it doesnt show any damage
The tooltip is probably from an old version and didn't show the numbers at the time. Some are like year old. The bombard is not intended as keyword.
Some of the one with numbers have also been changed in more recent builds so take everything with a pinch of salt for now.
Just the other day I learned that a support gem I was hoping to unlock among the first has probably been removed.
Yea. I wonder do we get the full data on release day or few days before?
Few days before would be kinds nice but. Its both ok
But if on release i think id first look into the options instrad of playing
Ah. Yea that aint great
Thats the right order right theorycraft a little create something then play. So itd be kinda unfortunate if we only see it on the day itself. But yea it is what it is if so
Right as in, if you enjoy that and wamma create something urself first
they said preload will probably be a few days before
so people can start datamining from then
Men that makes me sooo happy. 🙂 juwt like w leagues
Ah i probsbly understood wrong. Well i hope the data will be available 2/3 days in advance. But i see a lot of varying opinions so.
can't datamine preloads, they don't have anything interesting
interesting stuff is a few hours before launch
have zero experience with datamining but why wouldn't you be able to? is it not the full game
according to chuanhsing (poedb dude) the preloads are all the models/textures/animations/sounds/effects/etc
ggg specifically removes passive trees, gem info, etc
and since those files are relatively small they only send them a few hours before release
they don't like datamining too early
boo no fun
ah ok gotcha, thanks !
the only thing im really curious about is seeing ascendancy nodes, since that's the only thing you won't be able to see immediately, the rest im happy to discover as i go
they'll probably all be on reddit before we're out of queue
Guys how would you advice me playing poe 2. Id prefer to start making a build, but seeing the data is probably shown on release day that would mean that i am making a build during release instead of playing the game
Itd be easier like leagues a few days in advance data release, but a lot of people disagree
I have no poe knowledge, just planning to rawdog a minion build and enjoy failing 🙂
Yea i basicslly spent all my playing time theorycrafting and analyzingso its a fun part for me
There aren't many decisions to make with 5 passive points and you can respec them. Just start playing and consider planning the next day. Or when external tools update.
What do you mean ksiel 5 passive points?
Dont we get 1 per level?
Yea i dont mind not having pob, its handy tho
At least a build planner passive tree site / app
But can do it myself aswell just write down important nodes etc
In the picture it's mostly a choice of taking offensive or defensive nodes early, leading to one of the notables. If you can make that choice (considering respec is available) then you can play and allocate your first 5 points.
it's important to note that each of the 2 classes for an attribute (like witch and sorceress), will have different starting passives. and then those passives will also be different for the rest of the classes
for a minion witch is there any keywords/ stats I should look out for in skills, armor/gems ect?
Any idea when the passive tree will be released?
December 6th. 😈
POE1, usually passive tree was availalbe before the launch. 🙂
its a whole new game and they arent trying to spoil too much
not like that's stopping the dataminers
^
Best we have atm:
- https://old.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/1h24qsx/i_overlayed_the_known_keystones_on_the_passive/
- Dreamcore's videos highlighting notables in each section of the tree
I'm doing a fire minion infernalist
hey guys i've spent over $500 on poe1 where do i go to get my beta key for poe2?
😢
https://old.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/1h24qsx/i_overlayed_the_known_keystones_on_the_passive/ does this include any of dreamcores announced passives even from his yesterday vid?
As you can see, that post is very new. Pretty sure it includes all keystones we know to have been in the most recent version of the game they showed.
poe2db.tw is going to list keystones like Ghost Reaver but it's gone 🥲
Lol ur enjoying it right 😦 haha
Yea dreamcore wsd very adamant about most valuable nodes being on the outside of tree
Was rhwt in poe 1 too? Didnt really focus on it
Just surprising he didnt take any from the inside of the tree u think theres really not as valuable nodes?
There are keystones closer to middle in poe1 tree. You can conveniently search it at sites like https://poeplanner.com/ and most of those will update with poe2 support as soon as they can.
Perhaps more importantly, the middle is a highway across the tree in poe1 and has a jack-of-all-trades class that won't be in poe2.
I haven't played first PoE, so I have no idea what works and how different characters differ in gameplay.
Is there a room for error in terms of bad builds, is it mostly picked perks or gear matter more, can you respec, do you need to grind rng for specific item for the character to work or not, and so on?
So far I'm mostly interested in the witch with minions, but not sure what my options are with that approach.
I wouldn't say there aren't valuable nodes in the middle. Before really getting to know the skill tree personally, this seems like it might be a decent take on the design of the tree: https://youtu.be/WnTkzg7Er0s?t=731

Looking for a comprehensive path of exile guide that breaks down the new passive skill tree guide for new players entering POE 2? In this video, I provide an essential poe beginners guide focused on understanding the core mechanics. Whether you're completely new to path of exile 2 gui...
from that video:
The main issue with poe1 punishing bad builds was because respecs were too inaccessible in early and mid game, and still pretty expensive later. After designing things different for poe2, they put the new system into poe1 last summer. In that system, gold drops as currency and can be used for respecs instead of the old currency. This allows them to give you cheaper respec prices during early and mid game.
That and another big convenient change that is also from poe2 have made the summer expansion poe1's most popular one yet.
So yes, in poe2 you will have respecs to fix build.
there is
Thanks for pic
there is just also active block on top of that
Okay good
Can only be accessed with shields
Or certain weapond aswell?
Thus far i can only say every single thing they changed in like wow, good nice
Im*
you mean active block? yeah, it's shield only. Possibility for anything to change down the line, but shield only is likely
we've seen this at one point
Okay yes. Nice
Do u think sanctum ascendion is moet like current la
Lab
But u noe can choose between 3 different
Aware of benefits / drawbacks?
Ultimately just comes down to which one you like the best. I guess the biggest upside (or downside, depending on how much you like it) is that you can ascend earliest if you just do the sanctum one
If you hate sanctum, or are bad at it, you just gotta wait till acts 3 or 4
And are maps kinda gone?
In the way that they are in poe 1, yeah. But it's just an entirely new system
Sanctum is act 2
Am watching raxxanterax vid
maps are in the atlas. waystone is the drop you need to access them. Map sets the location/biome and some mechanics it contains. Waystone has the tier and rolled modifiers.
Ultimatum 3, Unknown 4 (it's probably gonna be tota)
Yeah I would probably recommend just watching the actual GGG livestream if you want the most info, rather than going through other content people
But if you're a new player it might be more easily digestible if someone else is explaining it maybe?
Yea honestly i dont even know what ultimatum is or tota do
But the GGG livestream is fairly concise and new player friendly give the amount of info they're throwing out
So*
Right yeah, so ultimately, what were once league mechanics in poe 1 are now being transferred to poe 2 as ascension mechanics. But the GGG livestream talks about it in detail
Does someone know if there is gonna be option to see ascendancy points before choosing class? or we will go "blind" on day 1, thanks
Jonathan said there's no ascendancy stuff on character select now. That might change in the future, no guarantee tho
For new players though, just picking the class that is thematically tied to the playstyle that you want is kinda foolproof. Wanna go big bonk, go warrior. Wanna have minions, go witch, etc etc
Do we know how long the early access will last?
at least 6 months, likely closer to a year
ye ye thanks, and thats gonna be like lil text probably what is what class description, like in PoE1 i think if there is that there tbh i always skip and cant remember is there text 😅 but yea its early access so just gotta pick what looks cool
I'm guessing it's confirmed by ggg then?
For a while, they had like, class "themes" listed in the character select. Not sure if that's still around though, as things change constantly
Yeah it's here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3587981
Nice, ty
Early Access is basically gonna go until the day it's ready for the 1.0 launch. Or maybe a day or two downtime to get everything ready. But throughout EA, we're gonna get 6 more classes, 24 more ascendancies, 3 more acts, a bunch of endgame stuff. Plenty of stuff to work on
They said they want to get 1.0 out before the end of 2025 at the latest. And knowing GGG and how they're treating poe 2. 6 months is a very light estimate haha
also I think they want to make it after ~2months of PoE1 league so probably thats gonna determ release too
so most likely around november 2025, its just my random prediction if poe1 leagues gonna be ~january, may, september
excited for my first ever action rpg games
You've got a week to try Hades or Ravenswatch or something if you like. They've got wasd+mouse controls.
I played hades on my phone and i love it Although it will be a new control for me on pc i will definetly love it
Not much rpg in those but roguelikes have more limited scope so you can get a good experience in a week.
ngl when i saw asmongold watch the poe2 stream
i was excited for a game that i never played before lmao
is there like any yt video that i can watch and learn before playing poe2
i did just watch the lore video for poe 1
so i can undestand the story better
The game isn't out ... there's videos that have bits and pieces, but as for the data/story ... we won't have that until likely after Dec 6th if you're wanting a lot of help.
Have you watched their EA launch livestream? It was pretty well explained for newbies IMO.
i did watched it honestly the skill tree is way to overwhelming
It's not as crazy as it looks
Everything's organized into categories, you just have to learn them
Their players who stick with the game are kind of split into people who feel excited about the skill tree and those who tolerate it. 🙂
Im definetly picking the monk class lol it looks cool
in the stream
I hope this community is positive and helpful
this one might help about the passive tree: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnTkzg7Er0s

Looking for a comprehensive path of exile guide that breaks down the new passive skill tree guide for new players entering POE 2? In this video, I provide an essential poe beginners guide focused on understanding the core mechanics. Whether you're completely new to path of exile 2 gui...
oh thanks
they've said that in playtests the monks die the most but they're also the ones happiest with their class 🤣
I want to play quarterstaff and I'll probably do it as a monk. Planning to start with some defensive nodes on the tree that I might respec out later.
Six.
Is respec a new thing?
No, poe1 has had respecs but only last summer they finally made them more accessible and cheaper during early game. They were testing the way it'll work in poe2. It was very popular and becomes a permanent feature of poe1 too.
ohh
there is still some cost involved. If you want to use it a lot then you might need to grind.
How many hours did you spend on poe1
I don't know. I used to play with their non-steam client so the hours didn't get recorded. Last time when I went back, I used Steam and played almost 300 hours during that league. Then I felt I had met all my goals. There would've been plenty of new things to do though.
damn how many hours daily do you reckon
I was afraid to try arpg since its involved a lot of grinding and times consuming And im afraid that i couldnt keep up and burn out early
I think "keeping up" and burning out is mostly mentality thing. The gameplay itself is grinding (past campaign anyway) so either you enjoy the process or the game doesn't have much to offer.
It's pointless to compare yourself to people like entertainers who play for a living. They'll shoot ahead within first days.
poe1 has many content types and they've tried to bring over the best. If you find a type of content suitable for you then grinding it will be fun. Trading with others can potentially help avoid content you dislike.
I hope i will enjoy this game
I hope it can live up to people's expectations! It's looking good but there's a bit too much hype.
do you think the community is positive or negative of new player like me since i come from league of legend like That game and community is so toxic
League has that unfortunate setup where strangers are put into a team and have different expectations of each other. And it's a pvp game besides. This is mostly pve and most people play solo. Easier to chill and talk bs on discord.
thats good to hear
anyway it was nice chatting with you thanks for answering my curiousity
The EA starts on 6th December.
If you already have access you can gift it to a friend or someone else
They got footage from when they got invited to play on the test some time ago.
No one is streaming live cause no one can login yet
so just reached maps with my first character and pretty much everything fucks me lol. should i start trading? following this build https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyflqUwBQrk - playing on necro

the face of the community (devs themselves and the popular streamers) are very friendly and welcoming. this discord is really good too. I can't speak for anywhere else tho as I haven't really been anywhere else
how can I go frost sorc? it just depends on the staff or how dies it workk
stormweaver is lightning based right?
Stormweaver is not just lightning. The graphic even has ice floating around her.
we haven't seen much from stormweaver, but I think it's general elemental. maybe cold and lightning specifically
You probably go frost sorc by using your first uncut skill gem (in the first town) to unlock Ice Nova. Then when you get tier 3 skill gem, Frostbolt.
ty
does anyone have a really simple video where these basics are explained? because Im new to poe
I think their official EA livestream was good at explaining basics to new people. Have you seen it?
yes but I felt like it was kinda advanced
I need a more basic level even
Im really confused about the skillling
I mean I start as sorc right? down the path I need to pick an ascendency etc
but before that..
you get uncut skill gems from specific encounters and randomly. you use those to pick a skill
using an uncut gem let's you choose a skill to turn it into
so its basically like a stem cell
yeah
ok I get it
thank you very much
so lets say I get a drop right. a nice staff with cold damage.. so then I would use those gems to get frost skills and to builkd around that staff
is that kinda how it works?
kinda. or you keep looking for a weapon with the damage bonuses you want
Are there going to be 3 total ascendancies per class?
i.e. do we not know the 3rd for any of them yet?
I can't find a skill system guide I'd be happy to recommend, yet. Maybe Serenity has you covered. 🙂
🙂
I don't know how many skills you can have. you can only use each support gem once. support gems add to the attribute requirement of the skill
EA launch has 2 each. The other 6 classes and 24 more ascendancies should be getting added during EA.
might interest you: https://maxroll.gg/poe2/resources/skills-in-path-of-exile-2
Can someone explain what support gems are? I’ve never played PoE and based on some videos I watched I still don’t really get it.
Are they a feature in the menu or are they actual items you need to find / farm? Do you acquire them from random drops or linked to certain quests? Can you trade them? Can you change what gems to use? Yes basically I have no idea what it is
support gems modify and buff the skills they're linked to
they're actual items
you get them from using an uncut gem. those drop randomly and from specific ecounters. every item in the game is tradeable minus gold. you can change gems freely
I just linked a guide that includes a section on them. 😄
oh yeah. scroll a bit down in the link
So what movies u planning to watch on launch since servers won't work on day 1?
i'm going out till servers are stable
gonna wait for my bf to get off work so we can start together
i will watch quin69 cry 😄
Okay a few of the skill gems mention "Empower". Does anyone know if things like Flame Wall empower the projectiles that pass through it, or if its a specific mechanic based on charges or something?
empower seems to mean "buffing other skills"
i'm not seeing 'empower' on flamewall
Any idea when the GGG launcher is releasing?
When will I be able to download the client?
A few days prior to the Early Access launch. We’ll announce the details in the news, so you won’t miss it!
So lets say I get this skill via my ascendency and add some support gems to it. When I crit will it trigger the supported spell? No, right?
crits with spells will trigger elemental storm
it's not a meta skill, so you can't add active skills to it
you can add support gems to ascendancy skills
Yeah, the question would be if the CoC trigger provided by the ascendency node is using the non supported elemental storm skill or the support one u know?
there'd only be one 'elemental storm' that would appear in your skills window. that one is supportable and would be the one triggered
I hope so and not some hidden skill which then gets triggered
i'm 100% certain i'm correct
is it me or does pure totem not look that great with the current information we have
hard limit on one slam ancestral totem that doesn't scale off our own weapon
is there anything other than shockwave totem thats not on po2db
spell totems probably come later with templar
have you seen ancestral bond?
so we're pretty sure ancestral bond break the limit in the text of the totem then right?
lke when it says "Limit 1 totem"
100 spirit is huge so I hope the ancestral warrior totems have some really big dick weapons
you can socket Hammer of the Gods in 😏
Really curious if that will bypass hotg cooldown
Then we login ignite straight hogging it
Do we have a confirmation if cluster jewels are coming?
I heard Jonathan said it’s a Year 5 thing
Was it?
ChatGPT, I need to engage in a 7-day coma-status. How to proceed?
How about Tattoos, I believe they need time to rework these, Omens got reworked perfectly for meta crafting like holy fucking shit, it had me stoked even more
Something like that. They don't really see a design need for it in the current plans but he's not opposed to them so probably eventually.
I might be wrong but I think cluster jewels were a bit of a bandaid to the old tree and they've tried to design this one to avoid the need to do that
for now anyway
I see
I think it'd be nice if it actually enabled new builds, I mean in PoE 1 they already did, a bit broken too when they came out due to aurastackers
Should I go evasion as sorc u think?
Ancestral Warrior Totem with Sunder looks like it can be pretty strong if you are synergizing your other skills/mechanics with it. For example, weaving in other skills that break armor or heavy stun will make the sunder from the totem hit harder. I'm so glad we have a few options for getting more totems, like the increase limit support and the new ancestral bond that allows spirit reservation for totems. I don't know which will be the better route to take, but I'm damn sure gonna have fun testing out both!
that line of thinking of wanting to use totems as supplemental damage is fine and maybe it's what they're intending to do with the changes in poe2
but I'm wondering mainly on how to scale totem damage and how it will differ from scaling my player slam damage
focusing on both seems like a bad idea and if I want to know what a build where I'm maximizing my totem damage looks like
evasion/es/armour is just one of the defensive layer's you'll want. It ultimately comes down to what other defensives layers the three give. Like in poe 1, for instance, almost all builds will run stuff with evasion, hybrid or otherwise, because it can naturally roll spell suppression. A ton of stuff is getting twisted around in poe 2, like spells not differentiating from attacks from mobs, so we don't know if anything like spell suppression will be a thing. I saw someone post a picture of a staff that has spell block on it, so who knows what's up with that stuff.
Until you reach maps, your only main goal will basically be "use whatever's good". es/eva/armour are usually not super important to prioritize early on, since getting resistances is way more impactful than stacking the base stuff. So even if you have a mishmash of es/eva/armour, it's probably a better call than just using specifically evasion if it means higher resistances
Yeah, I mean in endgame. Rn I just want to stack lightning damage, reduce enemy's lightning res, lightning pen for offense. But defence is open. But you are right... will have to see the tree.
I just watched Ben_ and pretty sure he said suppresion is gone
it is. spells and attacks are less distinguished in defenses i don't actually know :x
I'm not 100% convinced. It might be, and was theorized for a long time that it was, because devs said in an interview a long time ago that spells and attacks from enemies were treated the same. So it was assumed spell suppression would be gone or taken away. But there was a video from tokyo games show where someone went through the defences tab and spell suppression was still there
it could still be in, i'm not 100% sure. block affects both afaik
And there's also still this that I believe was shown recently
Yeah. I don't want to assume anything right now, because things have changed a TON in the past year, and I believe the "spells and attacks are the same from enemies" thing was said like 6 months ago.
I was sure spell suppression would be gone, because it's kind of a thorn in the side anyway, as basically every single build wants it. Seems like a good call to get rid of it. But who knows
This was from gamescom
So 3 months old, still not super reliable at this point haha
This should be recent. I believe suppression (and "deflect") used to appear on the row with armour, evasion and block. It's gone.
old for comparison:
Oh no, life regen is also gone based on this screenshot
Oh no!
wht time will poe2 release? i know the it will be release on 6 december
when's the full release or we dont know yet?
at least 6 months, up to a year
If you play hardcore and die does it convert your character softcore?
yes
search youtube for "havoc gems and settings"
if it's giving you something else, include poe2
Thanks
Am i wrong in assuming in the north side of the tree they are kinda pushing you to be an energy shield build?
Theres so much es nodes it feels like going for life may not be encouraged for a strong build
Dont het me wrong i know u can do anything u like but i mean trying to build as strong a build as i can on release
no life on the tree anymore
Yea i get that but ES is now there x10 lol
it looks like they're making es a comparable defense layer to arm/eva
i dont think they're pushing you to do an es build
i think they're no longer pushing you to also go eva/arm
though it would probably be a good idea
So in a way that could also mean, armour build will be less viable in the north of the tree?
I mean u could kinda aura up etc and still go pretty high
Yes, because it's traditionally the int area (although now we have flexible travel nodes) and int gear gives energy shield.
I don't think it's reinforced more. Going south may not help you rely on health or mana (MoM) instead of energy shield.
U know What i mean. Just so they made it less viable to rely on armour north kf the tree
Maybe a little more viable starting from the templar point
Less than what? poe1? It was always like that. str/int is the armor/es hybrid themed area. You can also use other things despite being there though.
Hm i dont know if i fully agree i mean i gey your point
But i saw a lot of tanky mages in gauntlets
Auras turned em over the edge
But maybe that it a lot less easy to get now
Wirh rhe changes, making a distinction between the south of the tree and the north
Im juwt curious
Thanks anyway
So if i wanted to go sorc is it unrealistic to expect the same i could expect in poe 1
I'm hopeful that poe2 would let me have easier time building str (thus using str gear for armor and str weapons) with a character starting in opposite int/dex area, than poe1.
Gauntlet sorcs ended up with 25-40k armour
Yes.
Its rhe reason nobody choose rangers in harder modes
And that was really sad cus rhey were cool
Evasion/dex didnt really help their survivability as muvh as youd like
Assuming deadeye reveal is legit, the tailwind damage reduction is exactly the kind of secondary defense I'd want for full evasion character, and could also instead be used with active block character. I had been a little unhappy that Ghost Dance went missing. (IMO its icon could be seen 10+ months ago in some leak.)
Yes i think i still saw it in a video some days ago, of a guy trying to explain all the skills he saw on screen
May have been older recordings of poe 2 tho
Hoping to effectively see Wind Dancer or Ghost Dance on some unique
Havent seen anything about a tailwind damage reduction i thought it was just speed
But yes, rangers were all about speed but they werent that defensively great so, thwt could make em great
The texts have been added here. It's just not clear where the leak came from. https://poe2db.tw/us/Ranger#Ranger
I mean u could make ur ranger absurdly fast
They did a great job at balancing
At last poe i learnt to find ways to find op things
In the tree
And skills
But now, it all feels so balanced, every downside has an upside, everything unusable in the past gained something usable
Its exceedingly hard to find "the best" and they may be right that everything will at least feel decently playable
Indont get where the site got thwt from? All the ascendancy nodes?
Havent seen it anywhere
fextralife published it first but source is not clear
a lot of people that went to events are releasing their footage from such events. and yeah, i don't fully trust fextralife
any idea where their source is from?
Yeah, but original source is still fextralife without media proof, so far. If someone trolled them they would happily post it.
I call even teasers leaks. What is it then? 🤨
fextralife wiki has access to more Ascendancies, all the skill pictures, and most of the skill detail and quality effects.
Weird. But thanks for info.
This is the first place where you can see skill icons and quality effects. The skill icons also match the video and are clearer.
F5ing the monk ascendancy pages already.
shame of all the people to get that info it's them
It does feel a little weird, ignite now works with monster treshhold. But theres still the x chance to ignite.
So first you have x chance, and then it calculates the strength of ignite hy monster treshhold?
Guys is this taken from fextralife then? The fact that it is filled now with all ascendancies https://poe2db.tw/us/Ascendancy_class
I mean Pathfinder and deadeye
that is taken from fextralife. not the most trustworthy source (don't know where they got their info), so we'll see if it's real or not
I at this point dont know i can take this serious?
I like to plan but, i like reputable sources not waste time
Fextra🤮
What do shockwaves do?
I am curious aswell. Lets say ur pathfinder and u take one of the concoctions. Could u back it up with a support gem?
ascendancy skills can be supported
how long will early access last for poe2?
oh so like it's gonna be sort of normal gameplay just paid for the first few months
i thought it's just some few day tests and then f2p
guess i have to buy it or sth
Yeah basically. It's not like one of those "play the game earlier than others and have an advantage" kind of things.
They still have to add 6 more classes, 3 more acts, 24 more ascendancies, all the other weapon types and their skills, more endgame stuff
So it's more of a beta
so what will happen to the characters and items from early access
do they go to poe2 standard or sth
basically quarantined to an early access standard
so they don't have any affect on the actual standard realm
will the EA standard interact with post EA standard
or they gonna be separate things
no
^
separate
ah i see
Yeah EA standard will basically become like a time capsule. Once the game is fully released, EA standard will basically become locked, no more characters can be made there, can't transfer out of it
Are there still mines in PoE 2? I'm wondering about glacial cascade
yeah they'll be in when the shadow is put in the game
Nice
they were reworked a good amount, I'd peep the exilecon item design segment, it's a sick talk overall, but they talk about the whole design rework
Got it, ty
But basically traps are an actual weapon type now, roll their own stats (rather than just scaling off of spell damage), have different detonation types
Oh what
Different detonation types as in different elements, like with the crossbow?
Or is it something new?
What she said. Like how traps and mines are separate in poe 1. You can pick up different trap base types and some have like, manual detonation, some are area detonation
Oh, ok
https://youtu.be/WIuIdulr-K0?si=VlKECycEGSc6Trr5&t=1715
Here's a timestamped clip to them discussing it
Ty
what is stash tab
a tab in stash
extra storage in your personal chest
how many stash tab r there[
as much as you want
As a free player, you get 4 standard stash tabs at the start. Basically just like, a big grid that you can put anything in as long as it fits within the squares. You can buy more specialized tabs that hold specific items in much higher quantity, as well as special tabs that allow you to sell your items to other players conveniently
the currency tab is a must have if you want a tab
and a premium
Note that I would avoid buying any stash tabs for now. For one, there is likely to be a sale coming up soon. Second, we don't know with certainty which tabs will be super useful in poe 2. Outside of stuff like a currency and premium tab
For sure, that's a good call. GGG does a stash tab sale every 3 weeks for an extended weekend. Next one is supposed to be next weekend, so it'll be a good time to buy then
you have no idea
you should be fine with the default stash for the first few hours/days, then you can see if a sale comes on and so on and have a better understanding of what it offers
yeah im watching a video currently explaining about each tab
there's a lot to learn since i'never play arpg game before
Yeah the big reason to wait for now is because since so much is changing between poe 1 and 2, it's best to just make sure you don't waste your points on what might not transfer over, or what might be useful in poe 1 and a waste in poe 2
ok thanks for the advice
if u buy the poe2 early access supporter pack will you be able to play right now?
ea isn't out until the 6th
oh so no announcement of the f2p access yet? was going to buy the ea but if I cant play with friends guess ill have to hold off
full release will be at least 6 months away, at most a year
full release will be free
hello people, any idea how to get a EA key for ps5?
You have to buy it when EA is released, dec 6th
sony is weird about it unfort
sony is weird about a lot sadly
Hi just came back from Hospital , How do i play this and which pack to get ?
when I started playing, I only started thinking about it when I got to end game. before that it didnt feel restrictive.
you can just buy the 30$ pack. ea starts on the 6th
5th is overloaded with random games I currently play or played recently. It's a balance update for Rogue Trader, free dlc for Darktide with new weapons, a story update for Star Rail, and finally PoE 2 early access start.
if i'm totally new to PoE and anticipating playing PoE2... is it worth picking up PoE 1 now or should I wait a week?
Poe1 costs nothing to try except your sanity. If you want a game where you can go places in a week then how about Ravenswatch? It has wasd+mouse controls and limited scope.
There's knowledge that will transfer from PoE1 to PoE2, but there's also some new fundamental differences. IMO, it really depends on how much free time you've got for the next week ...
If you want to appreciate game design then learning poe1 could be worth. But for learning poe2, you have to unlearn things from poe1...
thank you both! i think i'll give it a try then, it's also only a 40gb download
is Steam the prefered launcher of the community?
A lot of people play with standalone client traditionally, but there are lots of steam players too.
If you want to play on SteamDeck/Linux🐧 Steam's the easiest way. Steam also will track hours played ... if you're interested in that type of thing
I've seen so many requests to have poe2 standalone client track hours. 😁
is character data saved / shared between clients?
Character data is on the server. I don't remember where all the settings are: anything on the server would be shared. But if saved in the client then not.
Between classic poe launcher, steam? yes. console? no
ok perfect
you guys have been a big help! i'm sure i'll be back with more questions before long hehe
I wish it'd be more "time in an instance" and time played overall. That way people could compare more "playing the game" vs. "sitting in hideout trading" 🙃
that's me, leaving games running while I prepare food or go to sauna
One million hours played!
can early access holder invite anyone else for open beta? (not couch co-op)
If you've a spare key, yes. More information about that is here on the FAQ: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3587981
Is there a list on what is actually planned? (not including the obvious ones) like:
Transfigured Gems
Awakened Gems
Empower, Enhance, and Enlighten gems
influenced items
Fractured items
Crafting bench (which was going to be implemented later on, if I heard right)
Leagues that are planned (we already have Sanctum, Ultimatum, Delirium, Ritual, Breach, Essence, Expedition, Strongbox, and Shrines)
I heard 2 league mechanics are coming after EA, what was it again?
https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Path_of_Exile_2 the System Changes section does a pretty good overview
probably blight and delve of what i have heard?
Ooo, nice thank you
Delve is coming back too?! What the fuck nice
Anyone know what is the 3 trial? Perhaps TotA?
... blight rewards have been reworked into Trial of the Chaos God (i.e. new Ultimatium). Plus the end game is now "delve like" ... have we had an interview about Delve / Blight being confirmed back at some point? I'd like to add that to a wiki if you can provide a source.
Ohhhhh nice
i dont have source also im not sure if its a truth, i just saw someone said it :
Has GGG confirmed if pilfering ring MTX works in poe2?
Have you not ... watched the livestream? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpIbaTXJD4g JROD and Mark go over a TON of things about the game and end game content on launch for Early Access of PoE2
iirc all that was said was delve was one of their favourites and blight wasn't off the table, nothing about them coming
heavily speculated to be ToTA ya
I did, and I know about that, I’m asking what’s planned beyond EA
What league mechanics are coming back
What gem types are coming back
OTHER THAN what was announced
Blight was mentioned
I didn’t know about Delve
Nice
I'd wager these sorts of questions more belong in #2┃general rather than here in #2┃new-player-in-campaign-help ...
We've got after-acts-help for endgame, too.
I don't think they are going to do crafting bench, at least not anything like it was before. They have temporarily replaced its functionality with new ways to do gem slots and they will look into other ways players can fill gaps in their builds. But they didn't like the current system of crafting benches with the other new systems.
Yeah .... it'll be interesting there was this thread on Twitter which is captured on PoE2DB (https://poe2db.tw/us/Crafting_Bench ) which is causing some speculation.
Whether or not Runes will "replace" crafting bench mods or if there's just some other "iteration" of crafting bench ... we'll known on Dec 6th
No, it's clear from interviews that crafting bench is out atm.
Jonathan 6 days ago about the bench having been cut: https://youtu.be/QPrCIqsNtK0?t=21163
Obviously they were still planning to have it when that EA supporter pack with crafting bench mtx boat was made.
I haven't played poe1, but based on the conversations. I think it sounds better without it, at least in the same way it was before. I do like the idea of having a bunch of ways to craft at my hideout, but I still feel like I will be able to do that to some degree with what they give us.
is poe just in general cpu and ram hungry rather than gpu
cpu hungry yes
idk if my cpu could handle it i have an intel i5-11400h
Never played poe 1 so i dont really know how it perfomed
That's essentially bang on the recommended CPU
you can check minimum and recommended specs on steam
I am quite hype, but I am not finding any information on when we can start the download of the game. I assume it is the same as with PoE1 league launches.
There will be a pre-download a few days before launch
Oh, the FAQ just mentioned that they would inform us a few days before.
Yes, that.
Right yeah, launch is on the 6th, so at some point between now and then haha
I'm new to PoE 2 and thinking of going for Pathfinder Ranger. The immunity to slow, ability to use skills whilst still moving fast, has more effective life flasks as well as all the poison skills seem really nice and survivable
Plus seen some very strong poison themed gems
Checked to see if i spent enough for a key.. and got a chuckle after this message.
So i heard someone say thar we cant lower enemy resistances below 0 anymore in poe 2.
Oh sorry i didnt see that
What they probably said is that penetration can't take resistances below 0. AFAIK we're not sure if other ways can.
There is no physical resistance.
If ur gonma say that doesnt exist. There is some way to lower enemy physical
.... Whatever the word is
You can break armour. It's not clear if they can be put to negative armour.
Okay yes. Physical damage resuction
I think that sit in poe
- Is thwt now break armour?
There like 3 different mechanics to cover here and answer keeps getting longer. Can we just say that we don't know if any kind of physical defense reduction can take monsters into negatives or not in poe2? 😁
Yes, great
i have never played poe and was curious if you have to make a new character for every new season?
(season = league) Yes, if you want to play the league content. You could also continue playing your old characters in standard league but the new league's content won't appear there until league is over.
Majority of players join the new leagues with new characters (in poe1). Many treat it as the best time to try new builds.
so youre saying i can play the leagues content with older characters but i have wait till the season ends ?
you cannot play the new league with old characters
That has been the general trend in poe1. However when the content has moved to standard, it has usually also been reworked to some extent. And not all content is worthy of going standard. (Sometimes that's to your benefit.)
Now poe2 is different in that we have 6-12 months of early access first. It won't (or may not) have actual leagues for a while. Instead it will likely do league style resets when big content patches arrive every few months. Not sure what they will do with the content between EA standard and new EA "league".
i'm pretty sure they won't have leagues in ea?
I expect they'll "reset" us when the new acts arrive at least. Maybe when new classes do. They'll need testing data.
'You could also continue playing your old characters in standard league but the new league's content won't appear there until league is over." this what i was asking about because this sounds like old characters can play the new season content only after the new season has rotated so if im understanding you can play new seasons with old characters however the season content old characters can do will always be a season behind
that's if the new league content even goes to standard
i got it how hard is it to level and grind through poe campaigns to reach the new content? never done seasons before aside from playing some diablo
in poe 1, most experienced players take like 10 hours
however
new league content has always been accessible from the very start of the game
i was very on the fence because id love to pick game up and get throse 4 passes for my friends
devs don't put new league stuff only at end game
thats not terrible
I wouldn't dare to claim that the game will provide a stable playing environment during early access. It's still under development. Only half of planned classes, 33% of planned ascendancies, half of planned campaign acts are in. And engame content is still being expanded as well. They expect to take 6-12 months before full release.
Are your friends willing to give it another chance much later?
yeah that's what I was thinking as well. If you're on the fence, the game should be free to play some time in the next ~6-12 months.
guys, sorry, do we know when's the standard release of the game?
if i don't buy the early access i mean
6-12 months
oh, damn, tyvm
There a list with important links? Just found this one for example
Important / usable
there's barely anything out for 3rd party tools right now
altho the wiki and poe2db are good
Yea but i do see new interesting things pop up every now and then like that
Too bad no list likw the link u gave earlier
Thanks anyway
Any good YouTube sources? Good youtubers surrounding poe and data
#2┃new-player-in-campaign-help message
I posted this the other day in regards to useful poe tools and websites. But to reiterate, none of this is available for poe 2 yet
As for youtube, i posted this in a poe 1 faq. Here are some popular build creators. not an exhaustive list by any means, but a decent roundup of trusted creators #1226706047310237838 message
as for like, "data", sirgog is pretty good about stuff like technical roundups. talks about more nitty gritty stuff
if you're looking for something specific, I could try to point you in the right direction
At the moment mainly looking for good build creators / people that post about new upcoming things reliable sources of new data like for example now poe 2 data
For example like dreamcore
Or havoc
I found these two
Ill follow sirgog
gotcha yeah, dreamcore popped up for me recently, his videos are definitely a good source for fundamental poe 2 mechanics. Tbh at this point I'd say he would be your best bet for now. I'm not super invested in the youtube scene, but I know for a fact that poe 2 for a looooong time was almost like, something people actively didn't want to talk about. So a lot of youtube and livestream folks would kind of actively ignore poe 2 stuff. So it seems like a ton of them are just kinda hopping in on it now with less knowledge than a lot of people here. There are a few, like dreamcore, who seemed to really hone in on it earlier than others
People generally didn't want to talk about poe 2 for a long time becuase
- It seemed like it wasn't coming out for an eternity
- It was mostly only ever brought up by devs via interviews. And those interviews were usually held at the end of a league reveal livestream. And between not having much info about poe 2 at all, and also the longer the interview went, the longer it meant that patch notes weren't coming out
- The initial playtests of poe 2 were very poorly received, as things were not only drastically different from poe 1, it was also wildly overtuned, making it so you died to almost every pack of white mobs
- Features and stuff were also only ever discussed via livestream interviews, so there wasn't really anything to sink your teeth into
Yea i still notice it like people got kind of agitated when i asked about reveals XD they want to keep it a secret. I like the planning part tho
So with all that, people kinda just didn't want to make content on poe 2, ESPECIALLY since poe 1 had a great streak of leagues coming out since the 2023 exilecon. barring necropolis of course lol
Yea lol. I will still keep playing poe 1 though.
I mean both.
Like the idea, league every 2 months
Thanks for your response and your time very clear!
Haha I'm with you, if my day-to-day lets me get anywhere close to it lol
For sure! I'd def keep an eye on that list of youtube creators if you want some cool ideas. I wouldn't expect anything solid for a while, but a lot of youtubers tend to keep like, build diaries for new builds. Like "Here is what i did day 1 with this build I'm trying" and then how it evolves day-by-day. And with everything being new, there's definitely gonna be a lot of fun ideas floating around
This is the havoc video i was talking about if you are interested. https://youtu.be/chM0wUtVC50?si=fjOx_CZoe_7NUBNd

Yea im trying to create stuff aswell just for fun
Its s list of all support gems recorded during such a streamer Invitation
Where rhey cojld play for some houes
Hours
Lol ur right. They mustve had these vids for a while why do they come out w it now. Also wonder if they all recorded it lol
Oh well
only skill gems have quality now right? or is that a phantom memory lol
I'm a completely new player and accidentally made my witch join the settlers league instead of it being standard, I'm following Pohx's chieftain levelling guide.
Can I change my witch to standard or no? I have to do it again?
#1┃new-player-in-campaign-help
(Also you don't want to be in standard)
ok but i cant use stash from the witch right?
i need stash from the witch build
I'm not sure what you're asking. Stashes are shared across a given league. If it's a league starter, there's nothing you want/need from the stash to play
Oh... So, If my maruader and my witch are both in the same league, the stashes will share.
My bad for using the wrong channel.
No worries, mostly don't want your questions to get lost
I'm not the rules arbiter or anything
and yep, if your characters are in the same league then the stash is shared
So having no knowledge of poe... how possible/viable is a witch summoner build themed around Ash Catchum, since we can capture any undead of later summoning
They said its only for rangers for now
I don't think we know enough about how spectres will work in poe2 to say
in poe1 spectre builds are fairly viable but minions in general are quite finicky in my opinion
and you typically have a small selection of viable spectres, you don't just use whatever you come across
(not a minion player, I hate poe1 minion management, grain of salt)
Oh sorry, will go there
I thought I heard them talking about it, from what I've heard they were going to implement it later on (guess I need confirmation about this)
they currently don't have any plans for a crafting bench
Ah ok I see, alright
early access releases on the 6th. costs 30$ to play
the full release will be free
ea is expected to last at least 6 months, at most a year
Good afternoon, the game's website has the latest pack for 480 USD, it includes: 4 early access keys, a T-shirt, and a sweatshirt. Is it possible to abandon them or not? I just don't understand why I'm in the biggest pack, paying for 4 early access keys
you can ask support for help
Hey folks I just had a couple nooby questions, this is regarding the witch 10% spell damage leech, what actually constitutes spell damage. Would minions damage count seeing as the ability to raise them is a spell? Same with the crit bonuses we get is that just for our character and not for our minions. And lastly say I used a physical attack but added supports to turn a portion of the damage into say lightning damage would that now be spell damage
Cheers
minions are separate entities
only the part of the skill that raises them is a spell
Copy that, only things that specifically state minions or ally's counts towards them
actually, in poe2, the minion gems don't have the spell tag at all
wait...
ok
permanent minions dont' have spell tag
That's what I'm getting confused about it says spell and then some have spell as a tag
Yeah that's what I'm confused about
still, only the summoning part is a spell
the minions themselves aren't your spell damage
Sweet good to know, and the part about changing damage types becoming spell damage if it was a sole physical damage attack?
as it works in poe1, spells and attacks are mutually exclusive
Can i use any skill while in demon form? Is there even an animation for melee demon?
Rip so even if I socketed somthing that adds like a lightning effect its still a attack and not spell damage
depends on the wording of the support gem
What would an example be where it would be spell damage
oh sorry. you can't change an attack to a spell
Rip, I was hoping I could like take a monk ability and socket some kind of elemental damage to trigger the leech
Oh I get you
elemental damage is not exclusive to spells
that is a good question. granted, they did say that spells get bonuses in demon form, not melee
Ouch..
That'd be dissapointing and go against their "endless possibilities" philosophy..
Currently, transformations can't wield weapons. Demon form would be restricted from using skills that require one.
i see flails mentioned in the passsive tree does that mean they will drop
They won't be available at the start of the early access, but they'll be added at some point before full release
thank ya
Probably when the templar is added, i think the intention is to add signature weapon types with each new class
that makes sense,
does anyone know if this passive bloodmagic
would mean any skills relating to mana regen or gain mana would actually cause you to gain life ?
No, it only transforms mana costs, not other mana mechanics
damn, that would of been cool
You'd need to invest into life regen/leech, and ignore mana entirely
Blood Magic really simplifies some builds, it can be powerful to focus on one thing
Im really curious how it would work with the blood witch, im guessing if a cast cost 10 life 10 mana it would now be 20 life after this
I was also looking at bloodmagic and how it mixes with bloodmage passives
Wondering how the interaction of Bloodmagic would be to this https://assets-ng.maxroll.gg/wordpress/image-830.png
seems like it would do nothing
depending on the order of operations, either blood magic will effectively double the life cost, or sanguimancy won't give any extra cost
Yeah I been trying to work it out but seems wierd to have bloodmagic in skill tree that basically gives everyone in the game the same ability as a bloodmage main passive?
Or am I missing something 😄
blood magic means you dont worry about mana at all
sanguimancy still has to worry about mana
Oh so maybe if you stack both you can have Sanguimancy without the mana cost, only the life cost through bloodmagic.
That might be pretty sick
I wonder what happens if you remove all mana through blood magic and then have an item or skill that is based off maximum mana? It would just not work at all or base it off 0 mana so would get zero? 😄
Hi is the “soulcore” weapon effect in the thaumaturge pack going to be available for every weapon?
weapon effects should apply to every weapon
Does anyone know if leech applys to dots
An instance of leech can only be created from a hit, not a dot.
There are some effects that cause regeneration proportionate to a dot effect in poe1, i'm not sure if those are going to be replicated in poe2 though.
are weapon effects mtx only
Are you trying to ask if they're cosmetics or if they're paid? Community uses mtx for both purposes.
what are these again? are they mentioned in the endgame content reveal?
Charms. They were probably already explained in the class section of the livestream.
.Hey all I'm totally new to Poe and looking to jump in this week on poe2. I'll try to search answers before I post here.
Do my friends have to be in the same league to play alongside me?
yes
Hello all pls will we be able to create a guild, day 1 of the early access ?
what is league and standard/hardcore
!leagues
Temporary leagues typically last 3 months, contain a unique new mechanic and do not allow players access to their existing characters and items. Most players play the temporary leagues.
Standard is the permanent league and has been running since Path of Exile's launch. There are many more items in the economy, deflating their value. The population is lower than the temporary leagues. If you can only play a small amount of time per week and want to go very far in the game, this can be a good game mode.
If you are a new player, it is strongly recommended to play in the current temporary league.
For details on what happens when a temporary league ends, see https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2091028
The Settlers league starts:
PC - <t:1722024000:R> on <t:1722024000:F>
Console - <t:1722024000:R> on <t:1722024000:F>
This information was last updated on July 17th The above should show in your local time if you have the right timezone set with your discord account.
can you play standard and temp league at the same time
Yeah, but not on the same character. You'll have to make new characters for each
I'd say like 95% or more of the playerbase plays on whatever the current league is. Standard is a kind of just a graveyard. At the end of every league, everything from that league is ported over to standard
To answer your other question. Softcore you can think of the "normal" way to play. If you die, you character goes back to town, you give whatever you were doing another shot. In hardcore, if your character dies, it gets sent to softcore standard
so basically everytime the temp league reset its transfer all item to standard
Yeah, so technically not deleted, but basically ignored by the vast majority of the playerbase.
New leagues drop every 3-4 months, and each new league everyone starts from a clean slate. Of course you keep your mtx and stash tabs that you bought. But the entire contents of your stash, and all your characters, get sent over to standard
so basically theres no point playing the standard league
According to people who played only standard, the econonmy was still alive.
Hard to predict what happens regarding that in poe2 EA though.
That's what I'd say personally. but there are a few people who play it. It's basically a permanent realm where nothing gets deleted. So if, for whatever reason, you wanted to play a character for years on end; you can do it there
let say i played temp league and then it ended. all of my item and character will be transferto standard so can i continue my progress in the standard league?
yeah if you wanted to. But it can get a bit tricky. Each new league features a new mechanic. Some fun new gameplay element that usually has ways to increase player power. Those mechanics don't always go "core" (added to the base game). So if you were in a league and doing whatever that new mechanic was, you won't be able to continue doing that mechanic in standard if it doesn't go core
For instance, poe 1 had a league where weapons had their own passive tree in them. It did not go core, so once that league ended, everything was ported to standard, including the weapons with the passive trees. But since it didn't go core, there was no way to continue progressing with that weapon, it's kinda like, frozen in time
asking if you can get weapon effects by playing game or if they are store only
ok i understand now thanks for the explaination
They've been used as event rewards at least. Currently running Settlers of Kalguur league has weapon effect as the first reward of doing league challenges (achievements): https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Settlers_league#Challenges_and_rewards
There are challenges that come with every league that offer cosmetics as rewards. Basically like an achievement list that lasts for a whole league. Those cosmetics are made for the challenges in particular
But there's no saying whether any of those challenge cosmetics will be weapon effects or not
I like mtx for things like hideouts, pets and such but for player gear i just hate it removing the visual progression as your gear changes and would prefer a transmog esque system where you can just use appearances from gear you actually earned.. but i get that POE is f2p so not many options.
quick one how about stash are there permanent in the temp league or you have to buy stash everytime the league reset
The way I see it, the actual gear in poe 2 actually looks great. So there's less incentive to use mtx overall. Compared to the trash cans that poe 1 gives you lol
Yeah anything you buy with real money is around forever. You'll always have your stash tabs, but it's not like the stuff inside them carries over to the new league, they still get cleared out
okey thanks
you also just need to buy things once to have it in both games
