utah is confirmed for u19
LETS GOOO
We also gotta have austroraptor
i would like deinonychus, tenontosaurus and sauropelta to come fill acros formation out
Here's Mau's tease of the Utah concept art #pk-discussion message
austro was on an post ea concept list from the devs
shunosaurus, deinotherium, yangchuanosaurus, desmatosuchus, postosuchus, and anteosaurus PLEASE
cooking
i need a relevant anteosaurus rendition so badly for what is basically the permian's tyrannosaur equivalent
Deinosuchus, sarcosuchus
Maip Macrothorax, Barinasuchus, Glyptodon, Prolibytherium, Embolotherium, Platybelodon
Aye they got 2 carchaeadontosaurids in the game might as well add giganotosaurus in am i right?
barina would be so based
Complete the big 3
What about Embolotherium since i think nobody likes it??
giga would be good for DLC, especially with a mapu alt
for carcharodontosaurids id like to see concavenator before another large one
same, would love pelicanimimus to come alongside it
Giganotosaurus and Mapusaurus as it's Alt would be Dope
Aye saurophaganax would be jumping in joy if it ever comes to pk
i think having a camel would be very good, not sure if more than one is mandatory tho
allosaurus anax is coming next update
LET THEM COOK
Update 17?
they arent calling stygi stygi, i doubt they are using sauro as the name lol
We need big, small, weird ones
Speaking of nanos we gotta add nanotyrannis and troodons in
Which troodontid
think this from the last dev diary confirmed anax over Sauro. 4 different species rather than 4 alts.
Nigersaurus, Dreadnoughtus, Saltasaurus
and they said that it was gonna be called Saurophaganax a long while ago
troodon is in a weird spot taxonomically rn, in the future it might be a good pick but currently its quite problematic
Since thats what Nigel Marvin had recorded or something?
What about the irritator?
Ehh it wouldn't be the first time this game included dubious species
Ugrunaaluk is an example
irritator is one id love to see, great south american dlc option
Whats next, they give it a fourth alt and it just so happens to be Thespesius?
No wait thats too many
also nano with both species would be cool
Both these things are true but given the wording of the last dev diary I feel pretty confident it'll be anax
Or what about beipi?
From Devs point of View Cancelling Ugruu would be WASTE of Money
beipi has undescribed material from adult specimens, id want those described before they added it, but i do want it alot
Alberto + Gorgo
Both related n such, both would be good paired
either gorgo or alberto would be the alt, ehh most people would say gorgo
Tenotosaurus, maiasaura, pachy, herrera
Duonychus
Pachycephalosaurus is coming too dude
Fire
Anyways ima sleep to think if more dinos
Entirety of Allosaurus is coming
Two Stegosaurus reps
Pachycephalosaurus and Stygi...
Baryonyx someday
Utahraptor confirmed
Carnotaurus one day
Diplodocus may come back
Ceratosaurus??
uncertain
Why is bary 'some day' when we actually know when it's coming
cuz im lazy
i dont got any good excuses
Nothronychus cancelled or whatfuckingever
low key
what if we got a megaraptoran like maip or megaraptor itself
would def be slightly more out there as a pick but would be cool
Is there one for Pentaceratops and Triceratops?
Closest thing
i hope this game does well at full release, we already a lot of prehistoric creatures but i want to make a park with like 130 species or something absurd in it lol
they should add (unnamed)
they should
thatâs a good one
John Ceratops
they should also add my favorite species that i seem to see everywhere, Nomen dubiem
and john 10% of the skull
me when the wounding tooth is just a single tooth
praying that neotype comes in clutch for troodon fr
if your favourite dinosaur isn't 3 teeth and 1/4 of a femur you're doing it wrong
I mean that is diagnostic material
i was a spinosaurus fan both before and after we actually learned what it was
i remember when the only good spino material ever found was the one blown tf up in WW2 lmao
lack of material isn't an inherent issue but I could never call a genus like that my favourite
ok but sometimes they cook
tyrannotitan as a name goes stupid hard idc how âawesomebroâ it is
i like jwe metri despite the irl animal being quite fragmentary
so much of the reconstruction is based on other species
to the point where if you are suggesting it for a game or saying its your favourite, you're just asking for a different animal
Big rip to Saurophagonax though (unless itâs a saurpod but low key iâm scared to even touch what it might be with a ten foot pole bc chimera)
Except for Oxalaia of course
material isn't bad
fair fair
everytime i see oxalaia suggested to a dinosaur game
obvious exception
i was more referring to âawesomebroâ names than anything but fair
What is the deal with Oxalaia
Is it like fully synonymous with Spino
I have heard things
Or is it a Tarbo situation
it is like
and we shall see if anything happens from that
one snout fragment i think
destroyed
awesome
and it's drawn like a smaller spinosaurus for some reason
ok so we basically donât know jack about it other than itâs a spinosaurid (and ofc where and when it roughly lived)
Damn
rapator level shenanigans
Oxalaia, my favourite schizo-taxon
me when the dinosaur is so fragmentary the whole thing is another dinosaur
another one i always hear back and forth on is dakotaraptor
maybe the real dakotaraptor is the friends we made along the way
We got this bad boy named THIS year
oh fr damn
there was a giant dromaeosaur but i dont think it'd be under the name dakotaraptor
the eyebrow of diagnostic significance
gilmorelarsontyrannus for prehistoric kingdom
big paleo doesn't want you to know this but Xenovenator is proof that Toodontids are part of marginocephilia
one time and place where this can be diagnostic by the way
Tryna remember what some of the other famous chimeras are besides Saurophaganax and Dakota
I think Titanosaurus has been cooked as a genus since forever but i havent checked on it
how'd it be diagnostic?
shows its a true theropod
the concept of the type genus of a family being invalid
thats either some megalosaur or Sinraptor
megalosaurus is john dinosaur
Always funny and a little saddening when a group name survives but the og of that group doesnt
fuck i was just about to make the same comment
megalosaurus was john therapod for so long
itâs still a little more âgenericâ ig but considering it was a wastebucket it fits
megalosaurs do a lot of weird things but they have a very john theropod appearance
i do like torvosaurus
word torvo is cool
mainly because it was really funny in dinosaur revolution
i canât bring myself to dislike any dinosaur even if i make funny jabs towards some
guy was so bad the entire watering hole ganged up on it
reminds me of the giga getting jumped in dominion
nature found to be cool
tyrannosaurus is my 2nd favorite dinosaur and i make jokes about how much i hate it because of how big the thing would get
that being said I can and will take shots at schizo taxa
next paper will reveal tyrannosaurus could access ultra instinct during battle against its prey
spinosaurus is also my favorite dinosaur even if i also pile on the âweekly revisionâ memes
funny within the context of your username but valid lmao
at least in a lot of cases it isnt that the animals werenât real itâs just we dont got shit to go off of
I made the original Troodon YT name in 2016
its not like I cared
its stuck so I kept it
that being said there is a second Mr. Troodon somewhere
real
also troodon is a cool name (and it might be coming back anyways so you could end up looking like an accidental genius)
the next brontosaurus experience
or nanotyrannus ig would be the more recent example
depends if Currie's neotype gets accepted
Troodontid taxa issues will not be fixed but still
i know i shouldnât be âhopingâ for anything but the most accurate science but⌠i canât help but hope troodon comes back fr
he may be just a tooth but his loss has wounded my heart lmao
could be worse ig lol
Anyways back to the topic of this thread uhhh
Iâll second kentrosaurus as another stegosaur fr
since when
where else would it be
nah bro its gonna be in the wetlands update obviously
It's a secret pick for U17 of course
Actually thinking about it wouldn't it be funny as fuck if the new species added to the Trello was for U19 but they moved Utah to U18 to hide it
the state of utah is what is confirmed not the raptor /s
Which kritosaur would be best to add?
gryposaurus
Top 4 Giraffs for Prehistoric Kingdom:
Sivatherium Giganteum&Hendei& Maurusium
Shansitherium
Paleotragus
Injanatherium
Also, the recent Muttaburrasaurus paper has indirectly made Gryposaurus (and kritosaurs for that matter) more distinct by letting them keep the large-nosed ornithopod look
eocarchia
the infamous "archeoraptor" fake
also variraptor, kryptops, and protathlitis
that wasnt so much a chimaera as it was a hoax
that was a total fake
oh, and luchibang
but in light of maip popularity, would kank become more popular as a potential suggestion?
Well, that's a TIL.
Eocarcharia's name-bearing element is likely Suchomimus
There is carcharodontosaur material associated
Likely close to Acrocanthosaurus as well
May 29, Vegavis isai.
More mesozoic birds would be cool
Vegavis would be neat, especially since it was from a pretty cold place
Not as icy as modern Antarctica but comparable to the steppe in southern Patagonia
Ah, it's that one Troodontid with allegations
Ah nevermind
Confused it for Hypnovenator
Xeno's innocent
Dryptosaurus?
Kank australis?
i think austro is just the better pick
Bawitius bartheli
A giant bichir from the Bahariya formation/Kem Kem beds, contemporary with Spinosaurus aegypticus, Carcharodontosaurus, Rebbachisaurus, Stomatosuchus, Mawsonia etc
thereâs a LOT of critters we could use from the Bahariya Formation
for sure, wish the leptocleidid from there had diagnostic material
it was described yesterday
And it needs to be in PK tomorrow
I wonder if it could be an alt.....
Yutyrannus? (Or is it confirmed in the upcoming updates?)
Not confirmed, but likely for post-EA
Afair the only confirmed species are:
4 allo species (U17)
2 pachycephalo species (U17)
Baryonyx
Utahraptor
Carnotaurus (soft confirmed)
Dodo (dlc)
Thylacine (dlc)
Equus aka h o n s e (dlc)
Great auk (dlc)
Carolina parakeet (dlc)
Passenger pigeon (dlc)
yes
u also forgot moa
also equus is 2 species
also also the roadmap speculation which has been 100% correct* thus fas has the additional species of
deinosuchus
ambulocetus
edmontonia
doedicurus
megatherium
kelenken
stuff has been added to it and stuff has been moved around but everything on it has come
i do hope we get at least one other stegosaur genus at some point fr
but that list looks peam
"peam?"
May 30, Annakacygna hajimei.
Gugs
How bigs this fella?
4 feet long
Very cool
Ah, the Ultimate Bird
Yes
Gimme
(black with red accents please, we Shadow the Hedgeswan now)
https://bsky.app/profile/johnrhutchinson.bsky.social/post/3megcen5cvc2z FWIW, hoping that the digitigrade Postosuchus paper is out before work on it for the game starts
Another #DAWNDINOS paper submitted! A deep dive into locomotor function and biomechanics in the awesome Late Triassic "rauisuchian" Postosuchus.
Did Mau not reconfirm Yangchuanosaurus?
He's mentioned he likes it but not that it's confirmed
Just searched it and I did get it wrong
He just apologised for slandering Yang, nothing more
I think Yang has good chances but yeah not directly addressed.
Whatâs the * for?
You forgot aurochs
Was it confirmed?
Yes, for recently extinct DLC
Also Mau confirmed Arthropleura and Meganeura were coming at some point on Reddit
No info on when tho
Honestly probably u19
Thatâs my guess as well, yeah
There's 2 very suspicious recently added spots that fit their diets
what do you guys think of the suggestions from this new user
Reminds me of when people suggest Tarbosaurus
why would they
absolute waste of a slot
you'd need to be a lobotomite to add it to the game
thank god for the devs
Gigantoraptor
Behaviour- young gigantoraptor would stay with theyâre parents foraging for food and interacting/socialising with others in its group, once its near fully grown they would leave theyâre group and find another group similar in age for protection and a chance to find a mate.
Mating season behaviour- gigantoraptors will let out loud rumbling calls that would attract females and other competition, when trying to impress a female they would essentially âdanceâ waving around its feathers and stomping the ground to prove its strength, if another male tries to gain the females attention the other male would intimidate the other male through stomps, loud calls and trying to make themselves look bigger, if they donât back down they would occasionally peck eachother till the weaker or smaller male would back down and leave.
Nesting behaviour- the gigantoraptor will leave its group to become hyper aggressive and would intimidate anything though bellows, stomps or false charges to anything comes near its young or nest, if they donât back down they would attack the animal through pecks, kicks or stomps.
Diet- it would eat leaves, nuts, fruit, seeds, small animals like lizards, mammals etc or carrion if it gets the chance.
Didn't you already place this exact suggestion
I'm sure I remember this
Cenozoic dlc animals idea
Josephoartigasia
Amphicyon
Gastornis
Aenocyon
Diprotodon
Procoptodon
Embolotherium
Desmostylus
Synthetoceras
Allosaurus anax could be a cool species for the game
Yh but I neeed to put a picture I deleted the other one
stuff has been moved around and things have been added
but everything on there has come
I'd pefer Saurophaganax personally
id like to see a. europaeus
I am Nice Dude so i mostly suggest Cool Stuff Overall,so once again I suggest to all Awesome Dudes bunch of Prehistoric Mammals like Titanotylopus, Arsinoitherium, Embolotherium, Prolibytherium, Discokeryx, Synthetoceras, Menoceras, Platybelodon, Stegotetrabelodon, Ancylotherium, Sivatherium, Deinotherium, Enjoy and I wish U all Nice Day
Armored animal pack dlc pack
Jakapil
Desmatosuchus
Vancleavea
Scutosaurus
Glyptodon
Vancleavea is the MOST armored
Agustinia isn't armored sadly
Sorry
No worries
Brown rat
These can be spawned with small placed burrows or can be toggled to make their own burrows, they can be hunted by smaller predators for stimulation and can increase comfort.
Iâm a pretty big no to anything revolving around live prey
it reeks of JP and not in the good way
we technically have live prey in the form of termites and fish from the tidepool but other than that I think live prey is unnessecary
Make an rc car that drags a meat cart the carnivores can chase
dress it up as a somewhat goofy looking herbivore too lol
much more ethical way to let them use their hunting instincts
also would let the game show off the hunting mechanics for the carnivores outside of the context of interspecies interaction
May 31, Sarkastodon mongoliensis.
What I will say is that sometimes the animals get live prey regardless of whether the zoo wants them to
At the zoo I worked at, we had wild lizards, ducks, and turkeys get got by carnivores after straying into their enclosures
fair enough not much you can do about that anyways lol
tbf an argument could be made for letting carnivores show their natural behaviour.. especially since were getting combat anyway. even within reptile care sometimes a snake refuses to eat dead food and you just dont have a choice but to feed it live mice
not saying t rex would be this picky but its not that uncommon to live feed things as people would expect
My chud son
I remember seeing a video where a wild boar somehow got into a hyena enclosure. Needless to say, did not end well for the boar đŹ
Whatâs so bad about Jp also what do rats have to do with jp
the movie Jurassic Park is good
It's more the fact Jurassic Park has live animals fed to their carnivores.
but the practises the in universe Jurassic Park uses are not
live feeding is one of those examples
Apart from ethical concerns, the biggest problem with live feeding is that the prey animals, which include rats, can fight back, leaving nasty injuries.
Which is something you don't want for your animals.
JP is a good movie, but it shouldnât be used as inspiration for zoos
Coward
in most cases and then its preferred but there are cases where the animal just refuses dead prey
but dino combat is coming aswell so i dont think there have to be ethical feeding concerns about the game maybe they could make it optional since seeing a dinosaur hunt is cool
Optional is definitely for the better for the people that donât like seeing the carnivores hunt live prey
?
this has inspired me to post an idea based on a few discussions actually hang on
i dont expect it to be more graphic than the combat system and JWE goats. so it can easily be optional
Heterodontosaurus
Therizinosaurus
Maip
It's far better, healthier, and safer to feed your carnivores whole carcasses for enrichment.
The zoo I worked at would often give the lions and wild dogs whole carcasses to eat, sometimes hanging them from tree limbs to stimulate predatory behaviors and get them some exercise. Oftentimes it was whole rabbits or chickens for the dogs and cheetahs, and cow legs for the lions. Once it was an entire goat.
Funnily enough the predators never hesitated to go for a whole carcass, but one time the keepers painstakingly made zebra out of cardboard boxes, painted it, and stuffed it with organ meats for the three cubs' first birthday. The cubs were terrified of it and refused to go anywhere near it until they let mom out with them, and she promptly knocked it over.
imagine if an uncanny not-quite-right cow appeared on your lawn inexplicably and just stared at you
turns out it's fake and filled with refrigerated steaks but
June 1, Eoraptor lunensis.
That second picture is eerily AI-like
I'm not criticizing you btw I'm just letting you know
Yeah, DinosaurPictures utilizes AI imagery.
It probably saw "raptor" in the name and said "Oh yeah I got this one, it has raptor in the name so it must be similar to a Jurassic Park raptor!"
which is why it looks like a JP raptor
Can someone send the "translated" version of the blurred EA roadmap thing
Thanks
itâs been VERY correct so far
100% correct
except stuff has been moved around and things have been added
is acro social in the game, i forget
if it isnt it definitely won't be able to bring down an adult Sauroposeidon, a 1v1 for these two would probably mostly always go to Sauroposeidon
what's the post-release screenshot thing?
no i got it
actually why can't ornithomimus be an alt for gallimimus?
or is it too extreme?
I don't think they form groups but they can live together
after the next batch of dinosaurs are added I'd love to see a several update streak of just adding currently unrepresented mammal groups and other cenozoics
I really want ground sloths and entelodonts
striding kapro makes a comeback?
https://x.com/LiterallyMiguel/status/2061598175241077030
If Deinosuchus is added, the model might be closer to the latest reconstruction.
If two Deinosuchus species are added, I hope one of them will be a model similar to this one.
It may become an alt species of Brachiosaurus.
they're not that similar
if we got a late addition alt for Brachio it'd be Giraffititan
Yh maybe a alt species because of the close similarities
giraffititan would be nice
Yes, please!
Described just today Ambystoma quetzalcoatli NEEDS to be in the game because itâs extinct axolotl trust âď¸đĽšđš
Very complete skeleton see
truge truge
JESUS CHRIST ON THE CROSS
THATâS the latest reconstruction?
Yeah?
I was moreso referring to sheer size
Deino has been that size for like 10 years
If anything it got slightly downsized like 2 years ago
Bigger jaws
The size comparison is a woman
I mean maybe she's 7 feet tall
still a large lad
what dog breed is that
ok have fun trying to pet it
Mole salamander tho
I mean for salamanders there's not much you can add
Even for RE something like Yunnan is too small
There's a 2 meter long Hellbender from i think the pliocene
But even then it's not that great
I'd rather have Habrosaurus than a salamander
Still, a fossil Ambystoma isn't really much
Thinking it has to be an axolotl-like neotenic one is a bit of a reach
But there's like unironically like 50 amphians i'd rather see before a not-axolotl
I beliee
I mean neoteny is very common in that group of amphibians
Albanerpetons would be cool
Sure obviously no guarantees but i don't think it's a bad assumption either
In Ambystoma? It is, but even more common among them is fully developing lol
Aren't most too small?
I'm afraid so
Btw Ambystoma has always felt to me like a criminal waterbasket
(Tbf same case with Varanus even if not as many species)
Anyways for my gluppshitto amphibian suggestion of the day is propose Mioproteus
Just a neogene proteid
But proteids are cool so
Varanus can be argued to be a different case because it has old splits and quite noticeable diversity, while Ambystoma isn't nowhere near that
Varanus also has the issue with Nile monitors and lace monitors having to be in separate genera under any split, and Niles will complicate stuff quite readily
June 2, Pezosiren portelli.
early manatee relative
I don't like it
Moeritherium would be Welcome in Prehistoric Kingdom
Torontoceros as an alt. genus of Megaloceros
First image: perfect
Second image: severely malnourished
it hasnât been successfully rehydrated yet
Hypotonic vs hypertonic ahh mammal
Alt genera/species additions have never occurred and I believe consistently said not to be coming
Unique dinosaurs (maybe dlc?)
Lurdusaurus- a semi aquatic herbivorous dinosaur, would move in the water like a hippo.
Aquilarhinus- mainly eats aquatic plants, maybe an alt species of muttabarrasaurus.
Troodon- could possibly (plausible) mimic other sounds for social interactions, to scare off threats by mimicking the sounds of large predators, mimicking the sound of other animals like small herbivores or parent dinosaurs calling their hatchlings to create a false sense of safety or momentarily confusion to kill it.
Camptosaurus- could have a rare symbiotic relationship with other herbivores like stegosaurus, being an early warning system and letting out calls to alert the herd of predators.
Bonapartenykus- mainly an insectivore, using its arms to rip open termite mounds.
Iâd love Troodon once we know what to call it
same
What if we called it Troodon
What if we called it Trooodon
What if we called it Troodon (slowed + reverb)
I wonder which paleozoic animals could be eligible for actual enclosures and not terrariums
Dimetrodon
Permian synapsids
Those and Scutosaurus
Dimetroodon
A lot of temnospondyls did not have tadpoles and were quite large.
But yeah a decent chunk of later paleozoic animals can easily be freeroam.
Prionosuchus and Pholiderpeton
Prionosuchus especially please it's so cool
Eryops
Eryops too yeah its plenty big.
Rhinesuchus
Prehistoric fish
Hyneria
Knightia
Mawsonia
Oncorhynchus
Coccosteus
Anteosaurus.
Cotylorhynchus
Ophiacodon
Enough for at least two full dlcs lol
Priono might have to be an aquatic
Atleast if they go for the huge size estimates
true but if we get freeroam-in-tanks for aquatics then like
It'd be big enough for them
If we get Priono as an aquatic i just ask for a thing
One skin with gills
please
It looks so cool even if it's unrealistic
Crocolotl
Axodile
Eryops having the cognitive awareness of a frog while being croc sized would be really funny ngl
Frogs are the fakest animals
Theyâre heads with legs, grow from ugly fish and are beyond stupid
Bullfrogs are worse
bullfrogs are just voracious assholes
