I'll also advise people not to get too intimidated by the map size, the provinces are massive so it's actually not that crazy. You can set solid frontlines with the same number of divisions you would use in vanilla, your forces are just less dense per tile (more emphasis on micro)

@bronze rain and I had a pretty rad soviet build when we did coop, we had a 200 division org wall where every infantry division had anti-tank and anti-air, we'd gone all the way down the right side of mass assault so we had a 25w worth of stats in a 20w division, and we also had level 5 forts along the entirety of the stalin line

Before the game we talked. I asked what to build. Was told what to build and to not worry because we're just minors and this is about majors. When the war started all was good, then in 1940-1941 when things slowed down the first thing that happened was that MINORS were blamed for this. Like wtf. I was sitting there with like 18 civs and a handful of mils and no resources in my country like me putting all my mil to make planes would change anything (not to mention I had absolutely no research in air done and was still behind in research). Sure, I probably could have done things better. Sure, I played Bulgaria for the first time not knowing how their internal struggle and soft-locks that prevent you from doing stuff work. But honestly this shit where things get dropped on minors like - this is your fault we lost, we can just wrap this up - (like we magically knew better what we'll need) is just bad and toxic. Same could be easily applied to any major, which in comparison doesn't have 20 mil factories by 1941 and can actually produce a variety of things at pace and has more than 3 research slots from the get go.

And I don't even care we lost but the fact the moment something goes wrong people go "it's the minors who fucked it up by not building air" is just beyond me

If we’re doing an us vs them type game then we can actually come up with a game plan. It’s not the minors fault. Hungary is the only minor that should actually produce planes because their aluminum. The rest build attack divisions. You guys were fine it just wasn’t fleshed out whole builds what and that’s okay it’s a learning opportunity vs some really good players

I am starting to think playing manchu is way more work than siam 😅 although we were all 3 fairly new to this part of the world which meant our china war took forever and we barely capped it when we were supposed to declare on US. Then US just sank japans entire fleet and took japan with little resistance :/

But the fact japan takes -everything- from manchu makes it somewhat bizzare

There were points where I had like.. 15 mils but 11 were taken by japan

Or when they trade something from you you only get 1 civ for it

Even if they take 80 steel

After taking all the china I still had only 21 mils to use

But I am also reading that playing Japan is quite tough even if you do things right

But yeah if we did the china war in 1 year things would look way different and we'd have plenty of buildup

one thing I don't like about HoI4 MP is it's just too fast/not forgiving and like rock/paper/scissors. Like you make a mistake or choose a wrong build against your opponent, a breakthrough happens and you will never catch the enemy from capping your capital, etc. You can't really prevent things like collaboration governments. And there are forced things for some countries and not for others. Example from yesterday, Japan is basically forced to go certain path from the beginning but if you take too long with China you're also forced to declare on US/Allies at a specific time even if it makes absolutely no sense for Japan. US on the other hand has completely free hand in how and what to do and can choose to wipe Japan early on if Japan messed up somewhere, instead of going for a d-day

I would say yes. It’s more industrial engineering than role playing.

But if you like min maxing, playing tall, building production pipelines, and managing socioeconomic mechanics then Victoria is the game for you.

There is less flavor in terms of regions compared to ck3 because it’s only been out for I think 4 years or so

From my experience the lag only gets really bad when youre really far away from the host. Like euro players have unplayable lag with na host and vice versa
