Why won't my Windows discord app stay logged in? More than 50% of the time I boot into Windows it logs me out. I have never logged in via a web browser, however, I made the mistake weeks ago of clicking a discord link in a web browser to try to join a server and browser asked if it's okay to open this in the discord app; I promptly refused that. And since then, I've noticed the discord app refusing to remember me.

If it helps anyone helping me, it accurately shows I have one android device under my "Devices" page in settings. But then it shows 6 repeated instances of this very device. Same location, type of app, the only thing differing is when the last activity/login occurred. Is that page meant to show every single time a device is logged into? The UI suggests it's separate devices. Which means Discord is borked if it thinks I am using a different PC every time.

If it weren't for the description at the top, I'd think it's log in history too. But that description makes me think the discord server is recognizing every boot up of Windows to be an entirely new, fresh Windows.

Kind of like how many mobile phones do MAC Randomization when connecting to WiFi; it might be the same physical device, but a WiFi router may think it's a brand new device based on the supplied random MAC address. What could possibly be the rest of the analogy for Discord to not know Discord is Discord on the same device?

One other piece of info to provide.. On Android it gives a push notification of a new login detected on account. (Well, takes less than a Sherlock to figure that out when I was forced to login, yet again.) But tapping the push notitication just opens the app. You'd think it would be bringing me to the devices page or some kind of prompt to verify that it was me logging in from Turkey or India, but, nope. Just whatever screen/server/channel I was on before I switched to a new app on mobile. If I did not actually login from that new device, I would be frustrated at not having such info provided forthright.

Right. Seems it should be possible to make a new acct, email the stolen account, and see if it gets an undeliverable return message or not. Curious what Google does if you try to email a restricted (banned, inactive, etc.) account. On the assumption that no automated message about it being undeliverable means it was delivered and means the account is in good standing, that gives hope in re-recovering it. Might need to find the new password on the dark web, whether tied to the known email and realizing that wasn't their own password, or trying to find common passwords. Not sure someone who steals accounts bothers setting up unique passwords. But clueing in on what password that is from such a wide selection would be quite difficult. But if the value of the discord account is that great, might be worth it.

Old versions will obviously not have encryption (some versions also didn't have it introduced yet). In the present moment, its disabled if someone is on an outdated client. Starting March 2026, everyone must be on a encryption supported version in order to join any voice call.
