You can't recover an account that has it's email deleted, this is due to multiple security risks that would exist if they did allow that.

You're going to need to just move on unfortunately, hopefully you had nothing important on there, and if you did, it's probably gone.

Muting is only for notifications. The icon showing people are in VC's have nothing to do with it.

I never had any icons before when someone was in a voice channel, started a screen broadcast, or an event took place when I muted the servers completely. The only icon I had on the servers was when I was pinged.
I had to restart my laptop earlier and saw that these icons were suddenly there, and I can see them on my phone too.

On a discoverable community server on which I'm one of the more active mods, we have a channel set up to announce new members. That is all that channel is used for. We have a mod-access only channel in which we have a bot that announces when people join or leave the server. That is all that channel is used for.

Lately we have noticed a trend of now and then someone joining and nothing showing up in the channel where Discord is supposed to announce them joining but nothing shows up there, but the bot does announce them in the mod-access only joins & leaves channel. We know the new member is not deleting the message because our bot also has a mod-access only channel for displaying deleted messages.

Also, a good number of those who recently managed to join without the automatic message from Discord showing up, eventually posted some sort of / scam message. Which of course meant a mod had to get out the to make them .

Conversely, on a few random occasions we have had someone be announced twice in a row in quick succession upon joining.

I haven't seen the double announcement thing on other servers that I mod or own and except for one er on one other server I mod, I haven't seen any evidence of anyone joining those other servers without their joining being announced.

Has anyone else seen this? Has anyone heard if this is a known issue with Discord announcements? Or is there some sneaky thing that s are doing when joining servers?

When you add 2fa there’s a button in your settings to download your backup codes, hopefully you did that and saved them somewhere safe, or are still able to access them, then use one of those to get back in, remove 2fa and add it back with your new authenticator app, and keep a safe copy of the new backup codes.
