im just gonna say what im able to and hope someone important on dc staff sees it. i moderate a fairly (ish) larger server on discord and have been doing so since about august of last year. it's really showed me how useless reporting dangerous people are on this platform.

discord does absolutely nothing to even attempt these people from having access to their platform- and they’re only making it more difficult to do so.

the way to report accounts and messages is useless if youre dealing with an actual dangerous person. in order to report an account on the platform itself, you must have access to the profile you’re reporting. which means you must have them added, share a dm with them, or share a server with them. if i’m dealing with a dangerous person i have to have at least one form of contact in order to do something about it. if you happen to have one of these things to have access to the profile, discord then only allows you to report things that are visible on the profile (name, profile picture/banner, text descriptors). in many instances, the accounts i’ve attempted to report are through messages which i don’t have access to for numerous reasons. for example, a user says a racist slur in chat- which i have to quickly delete to avoid other users seeing it. but, if it’s deleted- i just lost my chance at reporting it.

if you’re not able to report efficiently on the platform, you can't even do it properly on the actual discord support website. they removed a huge portion of their trust and saftey about a year ago.

on the off chance you have the profile and/or message ready to go and report- the reports are essentially meaningless. i can’t tell you how many times i’ve reported actual dangerous people and nothing has ever once been done about it. this even includes reporting entire servers (which you can only do on mobile).

with the integration of such useless (and majority pay to use) things like sound emojis, confetti, and even an ai art software, all while neglecting the real issues- discord is headed towards rock bottom. the interface and ui of both desktop and mobile version is a whole other issue in itself.

again im sorry if this is not the right place to put this. i've attempted to post about it on discord feedback, on the subreddit, even tweeting at the discord support account. im basically just out of options with no real answer and im really tired of it
