Guys I need some help.

I want to make a discord server with people in my cohort, it's a study centre so we can all help each other with providing resources and/or answering homework inquiries.

I want to make people select their roles when joining, though I can only do this with onboarding. This is only a community server feature.

If I make my server a community server, can random people just join? Everyone already has the permissions to invite others, I just don't want people surfing discord and just joining the server.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks

To have your server on discovery tab you'll need the following requirements:

How to enable Server Discovery
Enabling safety requirements for a safe environment.
Server must have at least 1,000 members to qualify.
Servers need to be at least 8 weeks old to be in Discovery.
Servers must meet certain activity requirements to be in Discovery.

Sooo I filled out a ticket but I just keep getting repetitive replies from AI...

But basically an account of mine got suspended because of a joke about age, now not only am i not 12 but i am 20, and have sent discoed verificarion of this but the issue is with the emails. My accounts email is inaccessible and I could never change it. If i go to discord support and type in my email I can access, Im ignored, if i type in the email to account and tell them "hey, respond to this email" im ignored also. Discord doesn't operate on a strike system. Smaller violations will eventually add to a suspension but it's possible to be suspended outright or with fewer/more warnings.

articles i find in restream's support articles have 5 articles that have the discord word so they do support discord integration, to "import" discord messages into restream's own IRC chat
but if the twitch streaming status (relayed by Restream) didn't appear correctly at all, my assumption is that restream doesn't have support for discord's rich presence displaying the user's status, kinda sad and unfortunate

I'm having some issues with my discord server. I have a "Nebula" role that gets assigned to members upon joining through Carl-bot. This is to prevent them from gaining access to the whole server, before being verified. They get verified when they have answered some Questions asked by a a staff member, the staff member verifies them by removing the "Nebula" role manually.

But the thing now is that, when the unverified members go to "Channels & Roles" through the on-boarding post-join questions. They are able to select roles. Now, some of those roles give them access to some channels based on their interest. I don't mind that, but that ends up enabling them to text and see the msg history in that channel, which I don't want them to do until they have gotten verified.
How can I fix this issue?

Just allow everyone to see all server channels, then create a role like 'Newly Joined' or something similar. Since it will always be placed above the (@ everyone) role, it will dominate everyone else's permissions. For that role, disallow access to all channels you don’t want visible during onboarding. Once the user completes onboarding, use a bot to detect role removal. When the user selects their roles during onboarding, remove the 'Newly Joined' role, and boom, problem solved. I think it's really frustrating that Discord doesn’t handle this better.

I'm not sure how to let a bot to delete the "Nebula" role when the unverified member has completed on-boarding. That is also something I do not want to do, since that means my staff team won't be able to verify new members before they gain access to the whole server.

Hello, so I have an issue on my mobile device where it switches the audio output when I’m on a discord call or discord voice channel with my buddy, for example I switch the audio output to speaker and it automatically after a few minutes switches it back to phone audio output and even worse when I connect my AirPods I get around a word in before it automatically switches back to phone audio output, it’s infuriating. Keep in mind Discord support will never contact you via Discord asking you to pay to have your account recovered, they only handle support inquires via the ticket system, anyone who DMs you claiming to be from support is fake and if possible should be reported then blocked.

Hello, does anyone here know if joining someone's family plan on spotify makes it unable for discord to show the current songs playing.

You need to connect your Spotify account to your discord account for it to be shown on your "mini-profile"/"profile"
and make sure this option is set to "ON"

Note - You can only connect 1 spotify account to 1 Discord account.

The trouble in some situation with reposts is then you break links to the message.

Alright so I'm having this problem with Discords Onboarding system. I am DISABLING the voice chat category by default. But when doing so, it still shows up for all the members that join because of the "Show All Channels" option. First question, why is that? I thought disabling the Category / Channel by default would override that no matter what. But it doesn't.

And so here are some examples of proof that its not working:

And this is what I want it to look like when someone joins. I like how you can just hide all the voice chats at the bottom so it doesn't clutter everything.

As you can see in the 3rd picture, the preview of what it'll look like doesn't have it in there but it still shows up.

So the question is, just to be clear, how can I auto disable "Show All Channels" for people who join? Onboarding just doesn't seem to override it.

I think what you're missing is that onboarding only applies to new members, not existing ones. If you modify the default channels it will not change anything for the people already on the server.
