While a "Server Permissions v2" update to split Permissions down (like you say, Manage Channels into Create/Delete, Edit, Bypass Slowmode, etc) would be nice, it'd be such a breaking change that it'd require its own API version, and a gradual early opt-in like with Threads and (to a lesser extent) Text in Voice.

No, it doesn't necessarily. Usually it goes ownerless, and any mod (member with manage server or higher perms) can request Discord transfer ownership to them.

It's always a support ticket to make the request, so you can certainly ask it of Discord. I've never personally had the occasion to do so, so I can't say exactly what followup to expect.

That's actually not correct; if the server itself had nothing to do with the reason the account was disabled & deleted by Discord, it will still exist. The owner of the server will be the Deleted User. An admin or representative of the server can contact Discord about transferring ownership but is not guaranteed

There are a few percent of servers that do not have forums rolled out to them yet. Apparently this is sort of a control group.
It's very unclear how long it will take for those servers to get forums, from what I hear it is a very slow rollout but none of the employees are really commenting on it besides saying sorry for the inconvenience ❤️

It's very curious - I hear a lot of people saying exactly that, that they have multiple servers and the only server that doesn't have forums yet is the one that could use it the most! I wonder if this is coincidence or just my perception picking up on these cases more than on others...
I can't really say why they need that control group. There was a lot of testing going on in many communities before the big rollout and they are gathering tons of feedback with the servers that now have it too... If I had a wild guess I would think it has something to do with statistics - maybe (and this is still wildly guessing) they want to see how engagement develops for servers with vs. without forums?

The rollout originally stopped at 90% of servers - not sure if the missing 10% are slowly getting forums. But I would think that 10% is a huge control group and would be a good fit to compare statistics....

Doubt he will be able to recover his original account at this point. But now his second account he can’t get in saying he is banned from the server.

Indeed I thought of that, the problem is that each channel has permissions that override those of [at]everyone. In the idea of completely redoing the permissions of the channels, my only solution would be to create a "Maintenance" role, in which I place my members. This role will be at the top of the other member roles. And I will remove the view permission on this role. The solution is not simple, but if it works the problem is solved. I was just wondering how large communities organize themselves when faced with this. It must be very complicated. A maintenance mode that overwrites the defined permissions would be ideal. I noticed a proposal from the Discord team from 4 years ago, but no news since.

so im in a discord that has activities active (im an admin) and i cant access activities, but everyone else seems to be able to? (even tho i also have nitro)

I looked through every role, checked discord perms, my own settings, and server/role settings and i cant find anything that screams why this is the case, someone who has exact same permissions as me can access activities but i can not.

It doesn’t give you any special features, if that’s what you’re asking. You get the ability to change your nickname, add reactions, and you get a separate chat

You have other roles. Now you have all of them. "Townhall Member" overrides the other colored roles because it's the highest
