LETS GOOOO

Wootility v5.2.1-beta.0 Feedback

🔥
@noble lark
we up
Good morning reporting for duty
@noble lark sorry for the wait
One day
Soon™

We have an actual frontend dev now, so there is light at the end of the tunnel
Is this light theme?
light theme bad
A lit up “Soon™” sign.
😭
Yay
W
This, team has expanded last few months, should be able to focus on more things at once now
That's wonderful 🙂

It's happening
really curious if the discord integration works well, try that out and let me know!
wait till we release the WAT
Wat?
Autoselected :)

Hm, the BG service required light effects still just say they require the BG service
(at compile time)
check in the settings if it connected properly (there's some polishing we want to do before it hits stable)
Ah RTFM - needing to allow local access. Might be tricky on the standalone client - not sure if I can get access to it on an electron (I assume) app.

the web version should work. as far as the app goes I see there are some issues with it. will be fixed soon!
™
Yeah I am stuck here with the app
Now I can start copium for second analogue curve
which browser / browser version?
Brave 1.84.141
I'll test with that, thanks
Classic Brave blocking things
yeah brave likes to do that
anyone else getting no compatible device found after updating to the switch selector firmware
Which keyboard? Is it usable as usual, just not connecting or?
Probably in restore mode
right so what do I do
Do you see anything on the RGB?
nope
"Try out Wootility" > Help > Troubleshoot
it says I need to give permission to the bootloader tho
Did you do this?
Alright, I hesitate to ask for this, but someone @ me
Before that tho, you should copy your onboard profiles
@noble lark
The Wooting Background Service is running, but the app says it's disconnected. And the Switch Selector is grayed out even though I have the beta firmware installed.
@sudden spear this, duplicate your onboard profiles to inactive
did it prompt you for discord permission? @noble lark
Yep
does the mute indicator work?
i dont think it works on global effects
could also be my personal discord notification settings I assume
but does on profile effects
ok that worked guys tysm
this doesn't make sense to me but sounds interesting. I'll look into thanks
Confirmed moving the mute to global breaks it
Glad you got it working again. Although we're a bit unsure why you had issues in the first place with the switch selector firmware, if you're able to try and again and potentially narrow down the cause (e.g. if it's some profile configuration causing it) that'd be super helpful for us
cool thanks I'll fix it
wait no
sorry I had disabled inherit global effects temporarily
works fine in global
This doesn't work here.
sure I'll try again
thats the only thing that matters
are you using the browser or app version? if browser, which browser and browser version?
and ofc it worked now without issues lol
No. I use the app.
There is an additional opt-in firmware for Switch Selector. Also for background service, are you using the desktop app or the web app of Wootility? (There is a known issue with the desktop app connectin atm)
maybe it was because of the back to back updates?
I would doubt it, I would've thought it would be a profile configuration thing possibly, which would be the biggest different between now and when you updated before
I installed the beta firmware.
Maybe you have to move it from temporary to global?
unfortunately the API we use for discord doesn't let us see if you have a pending notification or not :(
if you're having problems connecting to the background service, try disabling your ad block
we will add instructions for this also inside the app
sounds good 👍
inject amyour own dll into discord
why rely on a provided API when u can make your own

nah still temp
do it then
idk how to code
will u guys upgrade the mute indicator to use backlight leds aswell
does the mute indicator differenciate between discord and discord pbt?
we would like to do that at some point, yes
it will only connect to one of them
well i sometime use the obt release to run dual discord maybe if it aint tooo much effort implementing a way to connect ti both could be great
Well this is great, thanks for the release fellas!
Now, I don't know if you're familiar with the children's story, "If You Give a Mouse A Cookie", but the answer is "he will ask for some milk".
I am very much looking forward to the auto profile switcher, the real reason I wanted the BG service 🙂
Oh I have to try the switch selector...
rip i cooked smt
did you do anything in particular to get this to happen? did you have connection issues previously?
nah
we've seen this error a couple of times and we're not yet sure why it happens
happened when i maxed out led bar effects and now i cant change/save anything
Hm, switch selector is saying that I'm not up on firmware but I did update it
It doesn't work here in either Microsoft Edge 142 or the app. Beta firmware and beta app are installed. Wooting Background Service is running.
@noble lark you need 2.13 firmware
yeah switch selector is opt-in for now
Time to update!!!
the app we know to be problematic and we'll fix it.
For the web, on Edge you will have to navigate to the settings and click the "request permission" button
rip i think the profile is just cooked
probably all actuall since its global effects
8fcfb60d912e0100a3abd60b29dd01ab18e8
c04c0a33a093164b6d25af3ee11bec818571
An error occurred while trying to save the profile to the keyboard. Failed to write the report. This appears when I select Lekker Tikken.
wuh oh, same for me
Try replug
ahhh
🫡 good luck on friday
worked after a replug
But the background service is running, the app says: disconnected.
No lies detected anymore 🎉
Which switch did you choose
Jade
did you try going into the settings anbd checking if the button works?
💀 a random profile appeared
Same travel as DCF right?
Probably would be better to choose Lekkerv1/v2 and then enable 0.5mm spacer. Flux and Lekkers both have strong magnet so would be better to choose Lekker for now, until they add it
Yes
Thanks, will do
imma just restore
seems to be global effects for led bar
Clackin' real nice 🚙 💨
Time to take it out onto the digital battlefield
It was mentioned that there's issues with the app connecting to the BG service
it's definitely not this simple
Jades have a travel of 3.3, LIES DETECTED!!
browser - it's a permissions setting for the site
oh yea no its happening with the switch selector as well
Working theory is some change we made makes existing connection issues worse
I haven't had this at all but we do have people internally that would get issues sometimes before and now get them more often
If anybody would like a cool example of what the new background service and light indicator can do, you can try out my profile code! I've been using it since alpha

Hi heidi
hello
I have new bugs to fix
glad to hear you're willing to fix them!
Nah I do not work at wooting
Background Service
Where download
in wootility -> settings
Do I need the Switch Selector firmware for it?

why is the background service limited by my choice of keyboard
It's only used for the light bar on the 80he right now so it's useless for the 2he
cause 100% boards are cursed.
It's light bar only for now yeah
yay 5.2
Ah yes I love 80% keyboard with weird arrow key layouts
I still have yet to unbox the wooting one I ordered ages ago
also too lazy to grab my 80HE now so I guess I just wait, w/e
I never said the 80HE’s layout wasn’t cursed too, just less than 100%.
I think wooting's 100% design is the best, most compact, but yeah it's still quite a chonker keyboard
I need my desk real estate and I don’t care for keys that require hand movement 💀
gonna try the switch selector when I’m home, curious to see what shows up when looking with the analog mon
how it differs from pre-switch selector
The arrow keys on the 80HE are in the same layout as usual - inverted T shaped
Bait used to be believable
Maybe they mean it's not the same position as traditional TKL as it's shifted over a little. But at least the 80HE is the same standard layout and heights for the row they are in. Compact 1800 full size boards have them slightly below the row for space saving
Full size best size
We all have our preferences
Tested out the Light Indicator features and they are pretty nice
I think the only one I'll use for now is the discord mute setting
It's nice seeing a quick indicator and the default red is different from the solid set of colors I use
It all works quite well in Edge. I've now uninstalled the app.
beautiful
Are you using Owlab or Flux?
flux
It shouldn't be 3.4mm then, either choose Jades or Lekker v2 with 0.5mm spacer enabled
i can feel the sensitivity increase with my ttc kom's now they're properly calibrated for 3.4mm travel, feels lovely :D
Next update will reduce jades down to 3.3mm bc specsheet lies lol
Feedback for the switch selector:
As someone who spends a lot of time thinking about "how much maintenance is this software/feature going to require?", having a switch selector that targets popular switches of the moment is going to require *constant * updates as new switches hit the market and gain popularity.
I might suggest providing an "advanced/custom" option, where users can turn all the dials under the hood of the selector. Bonus points for a sharing feature - I don't know how many attributes go into a switch, but I imagine a JSON blob wouldn't be too bad.
They were more sensitive before, 3.4mm over 40steps compared to 3.4mm over 34 steps 😉
Gateron lies 🥰
Yeah, since TTC KOM has custom profile now, I'd imagine the deadzone is even less with them compared to before
Question, isn’t doing what people are doing now (selecting a switch from the switch selector that isn’t the installed switch) worse than using the previous (non-switch selector) version?
Custom switch input is planned but you won't get as good of an experience because you'll only reasonably be able to input the travel distance and step size. The HE sensors don't provide a linear signal that corresponds to movement, each switch type behaves differently and we rely on measured data to allow the firmware to convert the magnet signal back to linear movement as accurately as possible. That's the data you won't be able to enter for a custom switch unfortunately
that would make sense, i can definitely feel a difference in responsiveness, might be what shafie mentioned with deadzones, definitely feel's more precise
i would think so, i can definitely feel a difference from the initial press
That’s possible.
Makes sense to me. I know I don't have the tools or know-how to do the measurements necessary, I just figured some maniac out there might, and it would relieve some ongoing maintenance from the software. Thanks!
Not as good of an experience would be the experience we’re currently used to, or worse (less accurate?) than that?
“Currently” meaning the time before the switch selector
What does virtual clipboard mean, does this mean I can copy paste things between multiple machines/virtual machines natively with the keyboard without third party software (or enabling guest additions)?
Is that a background service feature? 👀
I don't know anything, I might be misunderstanding the whole thing anyway. I do not think keyboards at hardware level can actually copy the text u have selected. They don't have access to that data they are input devices. So it would have to be a service if anything.
What is the context for your question around virtual clipboards?
The question is, what does it mean in this update's patch notes. By "Virtual Clipboard for faster layer configuration."
ah
Yeah I think that's all that it means
Configuring multiple layers just got much faster. You can now copy and paste settings between layers in RGB Settings, Remap and Advanced Keys tabs - even across profiles and devices.
Find the layer you want to work with and click the three-dot menu to copy, paste or duplicate. You can also use familiar shortcuts: Ctrl/Cmd + C to copy, Ctrl/Cmd + V to paste between layers, and Ctrl/Cmd + D to duplicate instantly.
We’re planning to expand Virtual Clipboard functionality even further. Let us know on Wooting Discord what you’d like to copy and paste next - your feedback helps us decide what comes next.
Yeah, probably means that.
What about the background service thing, I am assuming its talking about if you download Wootility which nobody does as we all use browser.
0.1mm RT is now available with switch selector fyi
You can use the background service with web as well
😳 I download the app, but no it's something else.
BG service is a daemon that runs on your machine separate from Wootility
assuming it works properly*
nice
purely Wootility feature, not related to background service
Do they really call windows services daemons? Never heard that in my life when I work in Windows but sure on Linux. Anyway said background service would need to be installed through a driver if u dont download Wootility so sounds unlikely that it would be separate from Wootility.
Separate topics, I'm not confusing them, but ty for clarifying 🙂
🤷 I dunno, words are just hot air to impart meaning.
The BG service is indeed separate from Wootility.
You failed to explain how though
How what?
How would you load a background service into someones pc
You install it like any other application
So its installed through wootility
No
So how would it be installed
Why would Wootility provide a separate download for a background service
what is this nonsense
Wootility is a web application, whether using it via the browser or not
They're very different beasts
One is intended to run all the time, the other only while you are configuring your board
Maybe he means that the BG service could be included in the downloadable version of Wootility, but not everyone wants that.
as written it is only necessary for the 80HE, therefore it makes sense as an optional install whether it's contained within wootility or as a standalone installer
What I am saying is that when you "enable" said feature the download should likely commence directly from Wootility regardless of installed or not. I said what is this nonsense to the fact hes stating u have to go and find the download urself.
It would be good for the Discord integration to see when you're deafen, because the light doesn't work in those cases
Therefore the answer to my Q regarding "through wootility" would be yes not no
Whatever pleases you my friend
I mean you are obtaining the download and file through wootility bruh
I won't exasperate you then, sorry.
Currently used to
mostly this yeah, we want "no local software" to be a valid usecase
Its all good, you take my breath away with every message
Man sometimes I really regret trying to help people. No good deed goes unpunished.
i'll add deafen too
and would using a different switch than what you selected in the switch selector be worse for the performance and overall experience?
True but at least you can rest easy knowing this is the case for all in the world
I would assume selecting a switch that has an entirely different magnet strength and curve wouldn’t be helping the board calibrate properly.
Depends on how different the magnet inside is
More often it'd be worse than not
So then a custom switch option would be necessary I’d think?
For all the switches that can’t be added.
^^
woa does a bg service mean that profile switching based on open game could be a thing?
We can't provide a perfect experience with every switch with just user input
It's planned
yes 👀
yay
Basically Wooting is soon going to start displaying a Radar on your keyboard's led screen. Displaying the real time location of everyone in your match giving you hacks.
You know what I mean right? It’d be between that or potentially selecting a switch that’s vastly different and worsening the experience and performance.
In short, a custom switch option would be exactly equivalent to selecting an existing switch and adjusting the spacer to match the desired travel distance
To get any better than that, we need data we're able to collect from switches with specialized hardware, we can't have user input that unfortunately
Then all that the switch selector does is in regard to travel rather than travel and curve?
No, selecting a switch from the list does also change the analog curve / how the sensor interprets data from the magnet
A custom switch option relying on user input would not be able to do that
I’m gonna ask it differently, haha. Is selecting a switch that you don’t actually use in the board better than using the old (non-switch selector) option?
Cause that’s what people are doing right now.
The Lekker V1/V2 option is currently equivalent to the old "non-switch selector" option
Okay, that makes sense.
ah Jade was changed, it's 3.3mm now, so your only option is Lekker with 0.5mm spacer for now @short island
With that in mind, for the best sensor reading if the switch you're using isn't available in Wootility, currently your best bet is to choose the one that has the most similar magnet and then adjust the travel distance with spacer slider to match.
Then would it be better for people to use a future custom switch option (that uses the same Lekker V1/V2 calibration) instead of selecting a preexisting switch with a similar travel?
Yeah, this is where you lose me. For people in general that don’t know about magnetic switches much, that option wouldn’t be the smartest choice if there’s a possibility of selecting a vastly different switch (with a different magnet but similar travel), right?
WS Fluxes for example, they have a similar travel to Jades and Raw HEs but have a massive magnet, I can’t imagine their curves or strength to be similar.
Hence why the plan is to support a wider variety of switches in the future. This is the first beta and we've had to rewrite huge parts of Wootility and the firmware to support different travel distances per each key, as well as work out the methodology that allows the firmware to adapt to various switches in the first place. Casting a wide net of switches early doesn't make much sense until we're absolutely sure what we've got is good and stable
For this specific example, would it be better for us to recommend people to use the Lekker V1/V2 (old) option, or the Jades/Raw HEs?
yeah, better to keep the sample size small to make A-B testing easier
You can’t cast a net that’d include all the switches available to date. I agree with Turing that a custom option is necessary. I’m just asking what is recommended in the meantime.
and what to do in the instance of a switch not being “supported”.
If this is accurate, then it wouldn’t be doing what’s done now; selecting a different switch with a similar travel and adjusting it.
It would be selecting the Lekker V1/V2 option and adjusting it, I’d assume?
having trouble finding specs for lekkers ironically so can't make a blind guess. Will let you know as soon as i know
What kind of specs?
Magnet strength I’d assume (Woot doesn’t list that), but even then, the curves can still be different between switches with the same travel and same magnet strength afaik.
It could be a cool option to add something like the light indicator when mute in discord but with deafen
yeah, lol
https://wooting.io/wootility/changelogs/5.2.1-beta.1
Desktop app should be able to connect to Background Service now
Yes. Background Service works in the app.
You guys are doing a really great job. Superb keyboards, first-class software. Others could learn a lot from you.
Really appreciate it!
FYI to answer people’s question regarding fluxes, lekkers are closer start/end than the other switch options for flux
V1/V2 that is
do you have data for the jade pros? is this also true for them?
@winter bolt
dont know jade pros sorry but probably more similar to jade than anything else
what switch should I select with Owlab Ti HE
Geon Raw
hi! FN layer isnt working after updating to the latest utility (FW is 2.12.1-b0)
FW 2.13.0-beta0 is the latest here
i downgraded by (accident and lost my profiles) because i was feeling immanent key lag and it was feeling SUPER sticky
should i update to that
Odd. I'd recommend updating to that 2.13.0-beta0 version again. If you experience the same issue, try other USB port on the back of your PC and use included cable.
is there a way to update into that FW and opt out of picking a switch?
im using the standard cable into a type c port, it felt genuinely awful and i was like wtf is going on
like i would randomly stop moving in game and it would delay my keypresses
Try updating again and plug the keyboard into a different port
i got the FN layer to work again by deleting the FN remap and adding it back
I tried updating my Wooting 80HE to the new Switch Firmware using the Linux Appimage on Arch. However it failed. Afterwards it cannot establish a connection to Wootility. Not in the Appimage nor the Webapp in Google Chrome, even though it does appear as a device to be shared. When trying to reset with the blue light, it also couldn't establish a connection.
Amazing, this save the experience with the
GATERON Magnetic Spark
byt, ofc we need more switches in this list.
Omg that is insane omg
can i suggest maybe getting an HDR toggle inside functions?
might be a little off topic sorry but just curious since i see other stuff
was gonna see if i can macro it to a FN key but its complex
so avr cant even switch switches?
Morning. One thing I've noticed is that the lighting is switched off every now and then when I start Wootility. Then I have to unplug the USB cable and plug it back in. I never had that with version 5.1.2.
there isn't enough on board memory for the data needed to optimize sensor readings, but the plan is to allow avr to support shorter travel distance switches mm values at some point in the near future, just without the improved sensor readings
Anyone else having issues with not on kb saved profiles stop working and seem to start to behave buggy? F.e. analoginputs not working (tester also errors out), time to time unable to change profile via shortcut.
Seems like wootility disconnects.
Also happens now during usage in wootility. "keyboard got disconected"
5.2.1 beta-1
80HE
Replug
Well that was easy. Did solve it. Thx u verymuch. Is here the right place to report when you encounter erros on beta?
You can report bugs here
For me, the keyboard doesn't connect to the website anymore after updating firmware, I need to use the windows app to get it to work
Just as a info, the profile seems to still crash during gameplay. (non on memory saved profile again)
Will revert to stable.
Note for others, revert firmware first, then wootility.
wootility v5.2.1-beta1
bg-service v0.4.4
has problems holding the connection or auto-reconnecting after browser restart. i dont know if this is a known issue and/or intended
Single Click on "Request permission" immediatly reconnects the bg-service without any problem.
which browser? brave?
edge 142.0.3595.94
thanks
the whole local access permission was very recently added to chromium so it kinda threw a wrench in our testing lol
so it definitely needs some refinements. During the beta phase we will iron all of these out
so i will assume based on your wording that avr is effectively soft and hard eol. since this feature was promised back in the lekker edition days and seeing it implemented only after avr is disappointing for older supporters and individuals who trusted these promises.
@void blade Shouldn't the BG service in the tray also maintain a connection, or is the connection only maintained unidirectionally from the browser to the self-service?
If bidirectional is an option, it might be good to show in the tray that the connection is established. perhaps makes it easier to debug any future issues
which feature is this referring to?
AVR boards do not have the hardware space for us to add more features to their firmware, sadly. we really want to keep it supported for longer but the hardware is just not capable anymore
Switch selector showing gateron jade's travel distance as 3.3mm, is this true? I thought it was 3.5 all the time since I bought it lol (https://www.gateron.com/products/gateron-magic-jade-switch?VariantsId=11143)
Tip: The magnetic switch is designed for magnetic keyboards(Hall effect keyboards), not for mechanical keyboards.Magnetic Keyboard Compatibility: This magnetic switch N-pole faces down to the PCB board; any keyboard model featuring downward-facing N-pole magnetic switches is compatible with this switch. Please check your keyboard before choosin...
They're actually 3.3 not 3.5
HUH
but why would wooting and gateron specify it as 3.5 +- 0.2 mm?
just normal jades, I know ultra one is shorter
Ask Gateron, Wooting tested it and that's why it's 3.3mm in the software.
all I have is normal ruler and I cant measure it, looks like 4 😭 I'll just believe aligner
Will the Background Service also be available for Linux?
I haven't tested it as thoroughly as the mac and windows builds, but yes it is available
And how can I activate it? I'm using EndeavourOS.
ah..Ther ist an app.
Yes, it works. 👍
where do i find the background service
Settings > Background Service, if you have a 80HE
yeah found it already
My keyboard is spamming random letters after the beta update
Try connecting and reconnecting
very minor Issue with the black preset always forcing black
and you're a chad for it. the only thing i feared with the background service once it releases. but wooting coming in clutch as always 🦾
just tried it out and it works like a charm!
I'd be nice if you could change the task manager icon though. I personally prefer a clean look with just a white icon of the application.
not sure what you mean by this?
i'd prefer just the white wooting logo/icon personally on this scale, similiar to discord.
background service automatically disables discord tracking and just doesnt register me muting or recieving a notif
(after restart of app or reload of web page)
has it shown you the prompt to accept the access? it shows you the prompt but if you decline it, it gets automatically disabled
i dont remember it showing me anything honestly
although, if it did
i always click on accept
scammers like you
i dont have anything on my pc except steam, wootil., osu and ff
im just joking
ik
Can't wait for profile linking to enter beta.
Wooting Profile Switcher is working fine atm, but I'd like to have all keyboard settings under one roof. Please add option to use the inactive profiles as well since 4 onboard profiles are not enough when one wants to configure profiles per game etc.
Love what you did with Light Indicator effects on 80HE. Is there any chance to make a poor man's version of that setting for other keyboards on, for example, F1 - F12 buttons, like "touch" overlay effect in RGB settings ?
In that case it would be very useful to me if you could send me your logs via DM. There's a button on wootility that should open the folder where the logs are
Same here, it only happens when I use a certain profile
Will we also have to reset when the stable is out?
Check if the actuation point is cahnged, not sure if I did it, but somehow actuation was set to 4mm for me. (could also be a upsi by me)
I don't think there should be a problem
No need to reset keyboard once stable is out
it doesn't seem like 0.1mm deactivation rapid trigger works properly I'll get some deactivations even when bottom out the key solidly (80he lekker v2). Problem goes away when just setting it to 0.15mm. Reactivation is fine at 0.1mm
@pliant star @rough echo @sudden spear (/ anyone experiencing input issues)
Could you share:
- Keyboard Model
- Firmware version
- Switches being used (and what is configured in Switch Selector if relevant)
- Profile Code for profile you can experience issues on
- Affected keys (+ what exact symptoms are being experienced)
Having all this information would be extremely helpful for us resolving input issues you're experiencing.
This can also be sent to me in DM, may be better even for continued follow-up (may just need to give me a poke if sending via DM, as it will go to my message requests)
Thanks!
The issue appears to be solved after changing every key's actuation point to 1.5 mm, then setting it back to 1 mm, but I sent you all the information in DMs regardless.
constantly pressing (or smashing) keys like in a (4k) rhythm game causes keys to go into either failure modes i've observed so far:
- 4.00mm pressed upon pressing the slightest. does detect "not pressed" correctly but any form of "pressed" instantly becomes 4.00mm (makes rapid trigger and actuation settings useless)
- in rarer cases, 0.23mm pressed, even with a full press (very problematic)
can be fixed by unplug and replug, but the issue will occur again after pressing keys a lot like in rhythm gaming.
info:
- debounce filter: on
- Wooting 80HE
- Layout: ANSI
- Firmware: v2.13.0-beta.0+switch-selector (i have downgraded since then, because of this issue)
- Chip: ARM
- switches (selected and installed) for affected keys: Lekker v2 L45
- spacers: no
- profile: d3efd47373c42569bf84228895c86a611024 but issue persists between profiles
- affected keys: depends on the key being smashed constantly. this has been D, F, J, and K, all at once, which are the keys i use for 4k rhythm games. what probably matters is hitting a key over and over again
- Model: 80HE
- Firmware: v2.13.0-beta.0+switch-selector
- Switches: Lekker V2 45g Lekker V1/V2 selected in Switch Selector
- Profile Code: 22d806ac01f1fb768297b7c1041625f38492
- Affected keys: e (maybe others but it only happens on my minecraft profile so inventory opening randomly was really noticable)
qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq
beeeellllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
I think some other keys are being affected actually
Also it is just completely ignoring the actuation point I have set
i have reproduced the issue but it's a little difficult to get it to happen consistently to where we can inspect what's happening under the hood
we'll get it fixed tho 👍 thanks for the report

Is there a public API to download a specific version of the Wooting Background Service? Similiar to https://api.wooting.io/public/wootility/download?os=linux&version=5.2.1-beta.1?
Anyone having trouble selecting switches on the 80HE? I'm trying to switch to Geon RAW
Replug the board and try again
Just released new firmware which should fix the input issues
https://wooting.io/wootility/changelogs/5.2.1-beta.2
New Beta release - New Switch Selector Onboarding and some fixes
Friday afternoon release
First impressions, runs way more stable. Thx.
Only seems to have changed actuationpoint again.
I'm glad to have been a part of reporting the input issue
Indeed, the input feels waaaay more stable even on 60he, great improvement
Here's an issue with the Wooting Two HE using the latest firmware after 2.11.0 that seems to result in the RGB not illuminating correctly if Tachyon Mode is enable on your active profile. https://discord.com/channels/167181566978555904/1446712394599366706
@void blade
background service + edge browser is working now with latest beta 😎 👍
no need to re-connect every time i start the browser
With the 80HE, the connection to Wootility keeps dropping and then re-establishing itself whenever I try to save something. This error message then appears:
"They Keyboard is currently disconnected. An error occurred while trying to save the profile to the keyboard. Failed to write the report."
This happens in the app.
If I then reconnect the keyboard, it works again.
But the profile was saved anyway, despite the error message.
The log is full of Discord errors: 2025-12-06T20:14:00.6463163+01:00 [ERROR] discord websocket connection failed: Io(Os { code: 10061, kind: ConnectionRefused, message: "A connection could not be established because the target computer refused the connection." })
After disabling Discord in the Wooting Background Service, the error messages no longer appear.
And that also eliminates the problems with saving profiles.
Same
disabling Discord in the Wooting Backgorund service did not help for me. seems like everytime i try to save, it errors out. then i unplug and replug and it saves sometimes. but its been erroring out since the update
Strange. It worked here.
Try stopping and restarting the Wooting Background Service. And of course, restart Wootility itself.
okay i think that worked, although i had to switch cables
scratch that, no it doesnt save still. it saves for the first few tries but then gives up after
something is wrong with the background service it seems. i disabled it and disabled all led bar settings related to bkg service, now every save works fine
🙁
gonna wait till next update, they should have a fix i think
What I find strange is that there haven't been any problems here since then. Why did it work here but not for you? All we can do is wait and see.
Have you checked the logs?
i did check the logs. i didnt see and discrod errors, all i see for wootility error is:
[error] Device communication error, closing device
and for the background service errors:"
[ERROR] Failed to send report: hidapi error: hid_write/WaitForSingleObject: (0x000003E5) Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.
ERROR] Failed to update subscriptions: Failed to receive response to SendReport```
and the above 3 are repeated multiple times
Ok then that's yet another mistake.
mistake?
or error
ahh another bug. weird the recent changelog suggests they only changes to bkg service was Refine background service permission instructions
vague but something going wrong with this
Yes
anywhoo ty for the help. it doesnt look like its a keyboard malfunction. just software. i got scared, i just got this keyboard and i didnt wanna go through exchanging it
I almost think this error is more likely related to the operating system: hidapi error: hid_write/WaitForSingleObject: (0x000003E5). I googled it and it comes up quite often.
ill do a restart tommorrow. see if that helps
The communication errors shouldn't have anything to do with Discord failing to connect
I think it has to do with the OS.
I have 3 80hes that I haven't been able to hit connection issues with, so it's very strange how it seems to be so common for others
I wonder if it can be another program that is causing conflicts in some way
Or perhaps another program like OpenRGB?
why dpes this pop up when trying to select
What do the logs say?
i fixed it by restarting pc
yeah that could maybe cause problems
@void blade no other software running for the keyboard on my end. i did restart my pc as well which didnt help
Which OS?
windows 10
- Model: 60HE ARM
- Firmware: v2.13.0-beta.1+switch-selector
- Switches: Gateron Jade Pro (no spacers, raw he in switch selector, changing to other doesn't help)
- Profile Code: 17605cbcd77fdac74dcf740f050482d27e83
- Affected keys: ; (sometimes also ')
Might the 60he not be fully stable or compatible with this yet?
What is the issue you're having with those keys exactly?
even a very light press is detected as if the key is fully pressed (3.4mm) after using it for a while
unplugging and replugging fixes it for a while, but it always happens again on the same key(s).
Owlab Ti HE Switch in the switch selector 🙏
Sounds like you're not on latest firmware, what's your firmware version? Make sure you're up to date
Working on that one 😄
So we're going to be closing off this feedback thread.
Users that are using Switch Selector should remain on the beta build and move on to the new v5.3.0-beta.1 thread #📰│wootility_updates message
Otherwise, you should move to the new v5.2.1 stable and share feedback in the new thread #📰│wootility_updates message
