Iād say itās kind of a wash, flux has slightly better but itās not super noticeable before it crunches
So between Flux and Raptor
Theyāre only compatible with TTC POM springs, but didnāt do anything for me
i meant the switches
If you got the budget then go for Deep clack flux on Aliexpress, if you donāt want to spend as much go for raptors and see if you get any issues
swapping didn't help me, but fair.
If you donāt have any issues or donāt notice raptors are great
Where you guys recommend buying switches from?
Ali
like i ordered 100, so i have 15 spare
Geon directly for Raptor, AliExpress Powerpuff store for Flux
I feel i'm very persceptive to small annoyances so i'm leaning towards the Flux
Anyone feeling extra helpful and want to get me a link to the Flux switches on Alie?
To give you my experience every 1-3 days my movement keys (largely W and S) would develop scoliosis where you can feel the spring wiggle through the switch which was annoying for me. Other than that they were good switches, just envy the people who donāt notice š
Never happened always but happened intermittently which never made sense to me
Yes this would bother me for sure
Thank you!
Powerpuff and Cherry will be the cheapest if you compare, it seems to scale the same no matter the country, the only variables are just the locally displayed prices and if a vendor goes on sale thats not like Black Friday or not uniform.
Already got my keyboard in custom case with the neoprene foam or whatever it's called in the bottom. Since i'm putting together an Ali order, anything else I should consider getting? Even aside from keyboard stuff
New plates maybe
Meh, my spacebar went from under-lubed to overlubed. Not a great place to be.
Iād avoid keycaps tho
I went through 3 iterations of tuning and now it's too stiff.
I just got the ones that came with the keyboard lol
unless you wanna also try two other very affordable but value switches, i have nothing else to suggest from AliE for now.
Get different plate
If you do want new ones Iād go to different sites (Pbtfans, keykobo etc)
I have a plate I can't remember what it is
steel
Carbon fibre
nice
Maybe try FR4 but other than that having those two is a decent combo for different build variety
Pink flux on POM plate is also a fun build
I like FR4 plate.
@tawdry tree @chilly mural tuff
https://a.aliexpress.com/_Ew6h4gy
found a nice white one for the white case
HMMM
$400 for the prebuilt.
I'll assume the plate is only for non split right?
$216 rakka hm
Resellers
Yeah fuck those guys
Donāt talk about my goat like that smh
Iāll be waiting for real release
Canāt find any info about this
But ig you canāt even choose led pcb
it'll be nice if they sell a seperate plate
456 for that is crazy
What you know about machete keyboards
If you are buying the prebuild v2 i would wait on buying other switches. Fairly certain many people will be super happy with the Tikkens in the 60HE v2.
the wobble and pbt stock keycaps on the 60he v1 suck hard
copper should be less stiff than alu I think. expecting it to sound like plastic tbh
fucking profiters
Jump scare
Plastic tho really?
I was expecting a weird FR4
a softer plastic
Wait
oh yeah i gotta take pics for sno
weāll see I guees

maybe?
This will be a weird build then
Iāll have PP ABS PC and UPE to compare to
Mildly intrigued with equal parts disappointed in my plastic metal soft drink plate
I donāt know, just my expectation of copper. never had a build with it before
In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king
My plate is going to look like an ancient relic after a few days since I didnāt get it oxidated proof coating bc I didnāt feel like making a Shopify acct
Also wanted the aliexpress discount
starts throwing flashbangs
Varedis ahh keyboard ā
Can look good with this ?
Probably
a man gotta eat
Wonāt see the back half of it so
hmm, it looks okay but it kinda clashed too much with each other
Nonsense
Itās prime
itās gonna look good (I hope). I got mine for the salv copper slag, still got no fucking keycaps for it tho
The busy-ness of it is what makes it great
I can't see that.
Itās like a less flash bangy handarbeit
a fat man can do without a meal once in a while
šššš
Yes, the blue of the case is a different shade of blue, but there are three different shades of blue on the keycaps, and I think yellow works.
Mine is going to look like an ancient lightsaber skin from Jedi survivor š„
fixed stabilizers, that was sure fun, but now they're perfect...
What are the reasons folks change the stabilizers on wooting stuff? 80HE seemed to come with really nice screw-ins.
no, I have more problem with the alphas. It really looks off with the sudden changes of color
Courtesy of @trail bane
@chilly mural Afterwards I can always buy them and use them on another keyboard, and I'll find others for my case if I don't find this one great in the end.
sexy
and I'll find something that goes better with this one
Fr
Donāt let the haters win king
I honestly donāt think itād look bad with black and gold either (even though itās not exactly the same color)
I donāt think itāll be super noticeable
King ?? You remind me the black guy with weird sound on tiktok
Alright I take it back
oh really? you never look between your keycaps?
You always can wash it in vinegar + soda typeshi

that actually works?
to get the shine back/oxidation layer off
He's dead now i know him since 2022 "are you diggin right there"
I do but I donāt notice it unless itās very light
Or if I see a screw head
After/before(old photo)
you know, I think Iāll keep copper slag with copper plate without keycaps on display
not much else I can do atp
š š š š
why wouldnt it
Nah pop off, you right
It can (it should be 5mm thick though).
Foamless stuff but very platefull
its just the plate + foam/silicon but one piece no?
"Barkeeper's Friend" is the best copper polish you'll find.
There are some chinese boards with a plate like that, itās can be better actually as itās as stiff as can get.
Hmm, I kinda wanna try thick plate now
I was thinking the switches will be too high up, so the sensors won't detect the magnets properly
and it looks a bit on the thick side
You wouldnāt use foam
should emulate the feel of an arcade controller since that too is kinda thick plate and no foam/silicone on the button.
maybe not
It works
I see š«”
Itās upside down in that pic by the way
Try "Barkeeper's Friend" if you want that copper to be as bright as possible. (It won't last long before it oxidizes again, but it will at least discolor evenly.)
Nah, I like it. And Iām kinda lazy to do something
yeah not saying you have to, just saying if you were trying to get it bright and shiny without scratches, that product works well
what iem cable is that
mmm, astrals
friction fit pad, top casing on the gt60 @glacial wind
i forgot to add the video to that ping
i knew it
@tropic urchin no case foam actually sounds kinda ok ( @glacial wind technically if you make sure all the gaskets are in full contact and none are wonky it probably wont fall out but i wouldnt trust it flipping over)
If you do tape mod Iāve found you can have it act as something similar
yeah i got 3 layers on
Iāve found now if you do tape mod it kinda sounds almost bloated
Maybe itās due to double poron stack
interesting that it still snaps in there
He's not getting it anymore I think
i'll get it next month maybe, since i need plates to be available for it anyway before i can do proper testing
theres not a lot if room in the case tbh
like 1mm case foam almost misaligns the usbc port
that video wasnt with the friction fit pad, just using the silicone/poron sandwich pad
š
you can still plug it in but likeā¦
its a bit high
but hey since it sounds okay without foam.. ill just remove the foam now
Polyfill āļøš¤
ah that makes more sense
holy fuck that scared me š
just pulling the spacebar pulls out the whole module
so you dont even need to disassemble the case to take it out
yeah, as its already tight enough if you dont get the right angle while putting it in, i double the extra thickness from the friction fit pad is gonna help as it already kind of goes over the corners of where the screws are

@uneven cradle sorry for ping but iirc you wanted to see something like this
Yeah I remember this set, not sure i would buy a set with Mac icons though
maybe one day
Been playing around.
Not sure what looks better.
Or just plain white.
(ignore annoying work chiclet disaster keyboard)
Just ordered the Tofu60 redux for my 60HE v2
I think the different colors would be cooler on a GMK set
But for shine thru all single colors look better imo
yeah, if I use the RGB (which admittedly, I often don't) the all white looks fantastic
I'm indecisive.
There's a symmetry to the white mouse on black mat and black keys on white case but I may just stick with all white.
I think Iām still team full white keyboard but the contrast looks interesting
Kinda cool
yeah I am kinda leaning toward all white as well but the contrast is interesting.
I'm just indecisive. It's very subjective so other's opinions are going to vary. But the mouse does have some black on white going for it.
If you did rainbow RGB with the black alphas and white mod keys I think it would look better than all black
Or vice versa
To match the black pad and white mouse
Kinda wanna see that
i prefer all white tbh
so alphas only in black?
Yeah so you could do black alpha keys and then white side modifiers or opposite and I think it would go well with your inverse color theme
With rainbow RGB
Or whatever the RGB is used in the black keycap pic
yeah lemme play with that.
Strictly alphas though, no punctuation at all.
that's just the default blue/green/purple scroll
Ah okay
Is there any good TKL PCBās besides Venom TKL?

happened to catch it on a weird frame of all blue somehow
Until AWS-US-EAST1 goes offline
Try this
sure, that's pretty similar to what I had before, can do
It is, with the full picture I think it would go better than with just the keyboard alone
I'm not sold on F5-F8 being black.
I wonder if making those 4 white but making arrow keys black would be cooler.
Black mods meta
This is kind of interesting.
Or maybe the inverse of this, as said above, black mods.
Yeah that would be better instead of being a bad mustache
Something like that(blue= black, black=white)
Inverted previous, then going to do what lander also suggested to see it.
I like white mod keys with black alphas since it looks more āØvibrantāØ
I prefer white alphas so the pop is in the center. But personally I'd prefer all white or all black keys over either mix.
Guys, why is only this one blue?
Photobombed by clipped cats
The alternating function keys copied from that previous image is a choice....
tried it out, it's interesting
are there people here that have compared the gateron jade vs jade pro's in their wooting keebs? I'm unsure which ones to get as an upgrade, I'm currently still on the light lekker v1's
There are much better switches than the jades to get now, like the lekker tikkens
Your keyboard led died.
hmmm from all the wooting sound test video's I've seen so far the jades had the sound that fit my preference most, what do the newer lekker's do differently?
Bro arrived yesterday...
@sacred elm can you help me?
Tikkens or Deep clack Flux if you want the best stability Jade esque switch
This is my life when trying to swap caps....
hm I see, I'm unsure on what exactly I want. I while ago I built a split with Gateron Quinns thats sounds great. And on my wooting I currently enjoy that the keys are soooo light, being the L45 v1 they start at 30g and bottom out at 45g. Thats why I'm a bit unsure about the tikken
Ty, if they can't fix it, can I request another module as a replacement?
I naturally like 45g springs as well, tikkens springs didnāt feel crazy heavy for me
Contact them and find out
Deppends did u buy it over 4 years ago
that at least sounds promising, then the sound is the real deciding factor, if you want I can try to take a sample of my split keeb as reference
But if you want the best upgrade Iād say go for Deep clack flux if you want a similar sound as Jade switches but with best stability for the sound profile, or go for TTC POM (red and purple) they will have 45g long spring but will sound worse
They have 80HE, it wasn't released 4 years ago mate
TTC POM/ DC Flux will have same overall stability @verbal island
I didint read the first message mate XD
@sacred elm drop the library sound test link
I did
W Shafie
Dimensions are on the product page
Do the LEDs start from the module?
LEDs are mounted on the PCB
do we know if tikken light or sth around those lines will also release? Given that these are called tikken medium
I don't know inner dimensions
Which one should I select? And where can I find the serial number?
Module
If the demand is high, they'll think about it. Currently there are no plans.
If you like Jade sound profile, you'll love DC Fluxes
They sound deeper than Jades and have significantly less stem wobble
that honestly sounds nice. I've tested quite a few non HE switches up to this point, enjoying some marbly, some thockier and even some higher pitched ones than I expected
are the DC Fluxes the same as the WS Flux? or is the naming a bit scuffed?
I have the Wooting x TTC KOM POM with the heavier spring and I really like them.
They have to be lubed though
There are two versions, pink and creamy. Creamy Flux sounds so loud, pink is deeper and softer sounding.
You want Flux "Deep Clacky"
I swear, there's a Deep Clack Flux cult here.
It makes me curious if I'd like them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0T0Z0OLbEMI found this comparison
Keyboard: Chilkey Slice68 HE
Switches: Wuque Studio Flux (Clacky) and Wuque Studio Flux (Deep Clacky)
They seem nice but I like the full 4mm travel of the tikkens + DC fluxes are too expensive for me
in this I almost find the normal flux more appealing
I have both and prefer pink Flux
They have same stability but donāt have the Jade sound profile tho
I swear, it's one and then the other.
The third one though, she's behaving, for meow...
Maybe now I can finish swapping caps.
Cat has left the keyboard.
If you turn down the LEDs it might discourage her - those things significantly impact how much power the things draws and therefore how warm and cozy it is ā¤ļøāš„
also never you mind that F4 key being 90 degrees off
irl they sound deeper, phone makes them sound higher pitched
GH - Deep Clacky
JK - Normal
Hey does anyone happen to know what the bottom out force for the gateron jades are? Cause I searched it up online up the answer didnt make any sense to me it was a weird number?
50
Really 50g?
Yes
Why do the Tikkens compared to the jades feel so much heavier?
cause of the initial force
Ahhhhh
Details no one will see, but I can feel:
What does the longer spring mean exactly?
If I want my Tikkens to feel more like the jades should I spring swap the jade springs into the Tikkens or should I just buy a wooting spring pack which is pretty cheap the L45 version?
typically faster rebound speed
tysm! š honestly a hard choice
Lekker switches have a full 4.0 mm of travel and have longer springs to account for that.
Other switches are 3.4mm nominal or close to that, and will have shorter ttravel. Some are compatible with the wooting springpacks, and some use a shorter spring and are not.
Two springs with the same bottom-out force, but different lengths, will mean the longer one has a higher initial force
Like after comparing with multiple HE switches I just love the full travel the most, don't know why
not necessarily a higher initial force, that's determined by the spring constant not the length
total WORK done to depress a longer spring of same force is true though
Force not equal Work
So, If I want my Tikkens to feel more like the jades should I spring swap the jade springs into the Tikkens or should I just buy a wooting spring pack which is pretty cheap the L45's ?
... that's a different constraint if you're comparing a short spring and a long spring in an uncompressed state and pre-compressed state š
(respectively)
The travel distance is the same, so spring length is directly proportional to the amount of compression in the un-pressed state
lekker switches for example, that have the full 4.0 mm of travel, won't be pre-compressed like that
WS Flux does have like .1mm more travel than owlabs but I really won't feel that most likely lmao
that graph only applies when saying something like, 3.4mm (designed travel) spring and 4.0mm (designed travel) spring, both in a 3.4mm travel application
It isn't valid if you're comparing a 3.4mm (desitned travel) spring in a 3.4mm travel application to a 4.0mm (designed travel) spring in a 4.0mm travel application
You're right, tikken and jades have different travel distance (~0.5mm) so that would have to be taken into account
but I assume the spring length delta is far greater than that
yeah that graph is valid for all short distance switches NOT valid for lekker switches
yeah ALL springs are pre-compressed to some degree
but wooting gives you the spring force at top and bottom for the ones that they sell
Man, this topic really makes my hairs stand on end for when that teenager berated me about physics 101 stuff from 20y ago šØ
well ... it is physics
So whats the conclusion lol I just want to know if I can spring swap?
I dont care for the rest of that jargon
More just that some folks on the internet are a little to quick too jump down people's throats š
Spring swap also depends on the diameter, not sure if the jades/tikkens are compatible
Wooting x TTC KOM POM 40 cN start, 55 cN end
KOM RGB same as TTC KOM POM
Geonworks RAW L50 36 cN start, 50 cN end
Gateron Jade ... 30 +/- 7 gf (lol)
Lekker Tikken 42cn Start 54 cN end (See how it's basically identical to KOM POM despite being longer travel?)
not saying they're not, I just don't know
L45 V2 are 30/45, L60 V2 are 40/60
Okay.
So if I want lighter Tikkens then I should just spring swap with the wooting spring pack then I know that those are compatible with the switch because I asked Wooting and they said they are.
sounds like you want to lighten lekker tikkens using wooting light spring pack
Gotcha
yes all wooting springs are compatible with tikkens
That was all I was looking for
Yeah tikkens are compatible w/ the lekker springs for sure.
yup sorry, lost your original question when the nerding came out
No worries lol as long as it was brought back down to earth
<-----nerd
do the mmd c1 switches have a closed bottom? thanks!
They do
Wooting's Tikken springs are 22 mm long btw.
Yeah im thinking of doing that then spring swapping them to L45's I think that will feel comparable at that point to the jades then correct in terms of weight/force it should feel similar if im not mistaken, correct? @distant raven
the gateron jades are light, at 30 +/- 7 gf which is basically 23-37 cN
I thought they didn't have a closed bottom? Hard to see when they're clear lol
Tikken springs yes, springs sold on Wooting store are 15mm
oh cool thanks
fixed above
Didnt @sacred elm Just say that the bottom out on the jades were 50g im confused?
The +/- is margin of error, not initial/bottom out
thank you!!
Jades are initial 30g, dunno what they bottom at - I think around 45g
I'm going off of what wooting published on their website.
what does "closed bottom" exactly mean? do they feel more like traditional switches then?
Yes, it says "Initial force 30+/- 7"
that's a closed bottom on the right
which is 23-37
So ending force should be SOMEWHERE around 35-50 cN
The idea is a better sound and resistance to dust/other elements messing with the internals
Ah yes, I thought you were saying 23-37 was the range š
heck no
saying Gateron doesn't have the data to be sure
This stuff should be so straightforward! I don't get why they don't just post up the initial and bottom out.
(or wooting doesn't)
Ok so if the Jades are 30 - 50 APPROX then doesnt that mean the spring swap pack of 30-45 should be right for me to swap to ?
yes
Yes, bottom out force of Jades are 50, initial is 30
Ok ok got it
You can use Jade springs in your Tikkens if you want
Cant really think of any other pack to swap to cause that is the closest range and should be fine with me going from 42-53 g in Tikkens
Same diameter
ah I I see thanks! the stock wooting 60he (v1) switches are open bottom ones right?
I can definitely experiment with it once I get a switch opener and try it out
Shafie delivers as usual
that's the v1 lekker 60
Does Wooting plans to have aluminium case for the 60HE v2 ISO SPLIT spacebar variant?
Made is SFW
Not for the preassembled version only available via the module
youi can do that if you order as a separate items not preassembled and then assemble yourself
is really easy to assemble
@uneven cradle so technicall I can lego it together myself?
definitely
Yes, takes like 5 minutes
No screws required
Thanks
Mate, thatās so much less SFW now, dunno how you achieved that
Oh right I forgot that v2 doesn't even require a screwdriver š
Like keyboard fingerpainting
Yeah they'll be some video guides that go through the process of building but it's very easy even easier than v1
easier than 80HE too
Worst part will be dropping in the keycaps correct and thatās not even new with the v2, as ISO always was missing those preassembled
My father used to antagonize us when we had long sessions, saying "mind-rot" to the same tune
I'd love to buy a split later down the line, but for now im way too used to regularš
If they make an 80HE board with split space, I will buy.
If it turns out I like the split, then I second ^
Sadly, that's not a mod anyone's going to be able to do.
There's mods, and then there's engineering an entirely new PCB and programming the firmware... lol
Gn
lander eepy
Well if it's popular enough they might
I really hope that post-launch adoption is even higher.
I think that once folks see the benefit to having another left hand WASD accessible button available (or two for folks with longer thumbs) and how that eliminates 1-2 mouse binds, that they'll come onboard.
Honestly, probably the biggest driver would be if some gaming pro or content creator adopts it
yup
Just by the numbers of 21% right now, there's almost a guarantee that a few notable pros or actually influential streamers adopt it.
How could would that be, if it becomes so popular that a split spacebar becomes the norm across all gaming keyboards and potentially even into standard keyboards?
I'm not gonna ride too hard for it until I try it. I'm mostly just hyping for fun at this point š
Usually there's a massive spike in the discord once the big content creators make videos so that'll be fun
If it is useful for folks of course it would be great to see it spread
I cannot stress this enough: make sure Optimum gets his this time (on time) š
Really surprised me when the 80 got great reviews across the board but people were still unconvinced b/c he didn't bless it
I'm sure they'll make sure it makes it this time

He's consistent, which makes the price seem somehow even more reasonable
Valid for Lekkers too (or invalid for all of them), the graph seems to show only 8 and 14mm springs, and most magnetic switches come with 15mm (or longer) springs stock.

yeah mixing sets 99% of the time looks like you don'thave enough keycaps in one set so had to scrape together a set
i saw em, all looked messy imo
OK this chat got me curious
What did the person everyone keeps referring to do lol
Let me in on the in-joke š
Fair enough
I did recognize JKBX though.
I mainly came here to ask, are the WS fluxes well lubed on arrival?
Or would it be worthwhile to lube them myself š¤
Decently lubed
It sounds cleaner after hand lube imo
Iād run stock lube until you feel like it could use some, I did mine after a week or two and it eliminates some chatter that can occur when it runs drier
but it's not necessary
Itās not TTC POM levels of dry
Stem is decently lubed but spring could use some work
I've never really messed with lubing switches myself, so, if I do choose to lube them it is a pretty simple process, right?
Yeah just takes time
Also if I'm going to lube them I'd rather do it before I install them in the first place
Just seems like extra work to put them in, wait a week, then take them out
Youāll need a kailh switch opener and 205g
man the TTC KOM POM were the Gobi Desert of plastic
The week timeframe was just a placeholder
UH.... I have the maintenance kits that were able to be ordered from wooting with my keyboard, does that cover it?
Opener no but maybe lube it does
I got lube, yea
I overlubed a few switches before I figured out exactly what worked well.
Then I went really careful on my spacebar stabilizer because it was clacky. And I worked so slowly and incrementally, and then poof, over the line and overlubed. LOL
That's my main concern
Such a learning experience.
That I'll over lube them
Bet, that's good
Itās not the end of the world
Oh nah, I'm just a worrysome person haha
It is very annoying to do but
Live life and be free knowing deep clack flux shall open the path of enlightenment
I actually really appreciated assembling my HE80, modding the plate, doing switch lube, doing stabilizer lube, etc. I feel like I really learned a lot about the assembly of these things.

the stabs on the 80HE are fantastic. I just needed to do a LITTLE bit of extra molykote
Knight v2- v4 stabs are good
Oh, in that case if I'm not replacing anything maybe I'll just tuch that up while I'm doing the switch lubing and replacing the keycaps
not sure what board you'r eon crux

as someone who moved from the holy church of geon to the divine church of deep clacky fluxes i can say it is very accepting of new memebers
ok, 80HE definitely benefited from some molykote tuning especially the spacebar

backspace and shift and enter needed very little
but spacebar needed a fair bit of work
I hope that's what I've got in the wooting lube kit
Because I haven't even opened it

you'll have a jar with a white cap for switches and a jar with a silver cap for stabs
Aye aye capn
I don't think I want to mod the actual keyboard body for sound much tbh
I feel that it's pretty aight in that department from what I've seen
well my spacebar was super clacky and clattery
Really depends on what you want
I definitely had to get it unclattery
Plate dynamics can change a lot for sound/feel
So I wouldnāt write it off completely
this was on the stock polycarbonate plate and way worse on the FR4 plate
I like the body, I'm a little inexperienced with keyboards, but, even as a HE keyboard this is by far my best sounding one I've ever used
But if you donāt care then itās up to you how much you wanna do
Even just stock
MY 80HE benefited from spacebar stabilizer lubricating even on stock plate. Yours may not need it.
Iād say leave everything stock and at some point try a new plate if youāre feeling up for it would be my rec
FR4 made it mandatory to me hehe
FR4 is super stable and stiff. I really appreciate it.
For deep clack flux, POM, FR4 and CF plates were really nice
I can attest to that on the KOM POM switch + FR4 plate + PBT caps being nice
Pls call it POM š„
mine is the Wooting x TTC KOM POM though.
Itās the same thing
But just extra words
Wooting POM is all it is
Maybe
Itās just so much extra work typing that shit all out š
Itās unnecessary, back when POM was popular ppl didnāt call it TTC KOM POM
Also blame wooting. They indoctrinated me.
blame TTC
I will
Look up titlegore yunc
Most of the switch names are silly.
Lekker Tikken I like though, because it has meaning.
The rest, all varying degrees of silly.
we should start calling deep clack flux "Clux"
because less typing
No itās DCF
Cluxcult
deepclux
nvm i understand it now
sniping is a bit mind numbing
KoM POM - better?
ahem
KoMeranian Pomeranian
holy shit, talk about switch name gore

Oh no, you've activated @tropic urchin 's trap card
$1 or less on aliexpress
Itās the same price as your precious POM KOMs lad
first time I've ever typed it out.
I'm going to call them deepclux
Less (with coupon shenanigans) - KoMs were $1 a pop
dcf is all you need
nah, I paid $1 unit for KOM POM not $2 unit
and got a discount too
KoMs were never > $1 a pop
Theyāre $1 per switch on aliexpress, bait harder pls
unless you were getting scammed
How's this bait?

it's literally the storefront
counter arguement
Nobody buys that shit directly from WS
This isnāt April 2025
the only one baiting IS the storefront
It is silly that retail price is just wholly ignored though
Yes, but youāre being obtuse purposely
y'all are too online to admit
I did it. That doesn't mean you should.
(But probably you should)
He already has em
i bought at $75 for 70pc
ahh
The official store's price is relevant to the conversation.
see i dont have that issue because none of the stores ship to me
this is kinda funny though:
Toronto Keyboard Man (where I got my FR4 plate from) trollin' Wuque
I mean, there's a reason why being always on sale is illegal in the US
It's manipulative and gross
I'm sure there's similar laws elsewhere

truly a mental giant:
Just silly rage baiting
I mean heās never tried either switch, not sure why weāre using him as a barometer
I think now you see why he was such an actual detractor
:POWAGA:
I've been looking through the maintenance bag for my wooting 80HE, I think it does have a switch opener actually? It's the metal square one that splits into two, at least I think?
You need kailh for flux
Yes
Alright I'll get that then
Have you used one?
They work but they're way slower and less reliable at cracking them open
Thatās the one that came with my wooting 80HE maintenance bag
This is what I have
Yeah
Yeah I think they're all about the same. They work just fine.
You want the 2 slicers and not the 4 prong side
So long as I use the right side this one is capable or opening the fluxes though?
Yes, right right side on shafie's image (4 prongs)
Yeah, you need this one for Flux
No the 2 slicers
4 prong is for normal
I shouldn't have spoken - haven't opened fluxies. Didn't know they were the other style!
I prostrate myself in front of the keeb gods in penance
I think when the time comes I will practice lubing the tikken V2s that came with my board just to get the hang of it
š
There you go
Line up some podcasts and get comfortable
Also if you love yourself might I recommend grabbing a lubing station as well
I think I'll have a friend around for it. We've talked about getting him a wooting 80 for a while and it was ordered refurbished or whatever recently.
It would be a good opportunity to sit around and nerd out about keyboards together to pass the time
Looking forward to it tbh
A lubing station?
I haven't heard of that one yet, what exactly is a lubing station
Beyond what the name implies I mean
Not really mandatory, just need like a few paper towels and a damp one in case you get greasy
Could use a lil more lube imo
Iād also recommend bag lubing your springs
Or you will really hate your life donuting
Super lube works really well with springs
It's a bunch of switch sockets to work on for reassembling
I've seen that in a few tutorials, I don't think I have the right kind've lube for that on hand, I can probably pick it up at any hardware store I'd imagine?
Or is it something worth ordering in advance?
Iād just use Amazon
I didn't bag lube. It just takes longer if you brush.
Could try hardware store but probably a waste of time
Not a big deal. I found it satisfying, but I'm wired different.
You can also donut it with 205g but you will really need backup
Alright, if you could give me a name to order or something that would be helpful
You'll run out of the 205g if you're learning and not properly sparing and you ordered POMs
(for springs)
Oh god more flashbacks - that person that said they were getting a quart of it
And were adamant that was a good investment
Will never run out
Or you could be me and get the smallest and run out after 1 90x lubing
Out of super lube, or 205g0?
The grease I understand, but the super lube... it's like a few drops for 90. I think a small bottle is a lifetime supply unless if you have other uses for it (which admittedly, it is useful)
I got the smallest available
Ah maybe I got 8oz, dunno
Well I'm just working on my 80 HE, so with the suber lube ordered and the stabilizer lube & the 205g that came in the maintenance kit, I should be set enough for the 80% form factor?
You use only a few drops and those springs will still be dry š
Yes
More than enough
Perfect
Buddy I know how to keep em moist

moist š
The only challenge is if you got POMs. The stuff that's prelubed won't need much attention.
I got POM keycaps
Silicone oil, 99% alcohol, and distilled water and you can fix/clean anything
POM Jellies
POM switches
I'm talking about pom switches.
And Wooting gives you enough molykote to last 1000 spacebars
I fear not the man who has lubed 1000 spacebars, but the man who has lubed one spacebar 1000 times
š
Now I wanna lube my keycaps š¤
Leave it for a week around a toddler, it will either come back 100% sticky or 100% greased, no in between
Vaseline them...
That's what happened with my parents membrane keyboard anyway
But it was bound to be a sacrifice anyway, thing was like 10$ 15 years ago
Man, do I hate membrane keyboarda
Honestly?
There's a BIG range of membrane keyboards
It gets overlooked cuz like, why wouldn't you just get something better, obviously
I mean, most anyone who's gone to public school in the 2000s had experince with membranes
Cuz the comptuer labs
Tho I guess modern kids are using Ipads and stuff these days
Crazy how many of them don't know how to type like back when I was a kid
My school was cutting edge and had Apple II GS...
š
(which was cutting edge then)
I usually check w/ @tropic urchin for this gen alpha stuff
My school was not cutting edge and was still running windows 7 around 2020 š
If you call me Gen a 1 more time
There will be problems
Guys just a reminder, the first generation beta kids are already born š
College was NeXT cutting edge or Windows 3.11 for Workgroups
Their life is over before it even begins
Sad
Bonus points if anyone's ever even heard of NeXT
My college just got rid of their computers, because it's cheaper to give the students who don't have one a shitty laptop than to waste the space the comptuer labs took up without being used
They literally handed me 2 monitors when I asked, so now I have a 3 monitor setup

Kinda crazy to think about, but like, I don't see anyone taking paper notes anymore
I'm the weirdo who still does that
My work had a shitload of 13700K and half of them died to Intel failures š
RIP
I still use Rite in the Rain for notes in the field.
Way more safe than a tablet on a job site.
I got a crazy cheap setup because it had a 14th gen, I just went in bios and underclocked the CPU until they'd released updates for it that Supposedly solved the issue
It also had a 4060ti, but the 16 gb Vram version, which is dumb for most setups, but I just so happen to enjoy VR games.
Which is the nieche case a GPU of that power could actually use 16GB Vram.
I think 32GB DDR5, 4060TI 16GB, 14th gen intel, 2 TB SSD, and a decent power supply prebuilt was on sale for like 1050$
About a year ago at this point
Pretty good deal as far as I can tell
Just got reminded of that because the employee basically told me it was cheaper because of the GPU and having a 14th gen that nobody else wanted to buy.
Due to the issues they were having
Yeah, Intel really hurt themselves.
I got a ryzen 5 9600X, 32GB DDR5, 2TB SSD, 5060TI and a 850W PS for about the same price
peach magnetic silent ordered
Which switches would you recommend if I like the cherry mx red?
my 13700K is BSODing too, so I got the 9800X3D
yeah my 13600K was randomly black screen power offing for no reason (or so I thought until Intel admitted things after they got outed) also got 9800X3D
Since you're coming off from MX reds, I'd suppose you're looking for a 4mm travel switch with an bottom out force of 60g or so. Best option i would say is to just get the Lekker Tikken.
Thanks
Picked up an FR4 plate for the 80HE during the 11.11 sale and also some other unnecessary things
ā¤ļø my FR4 plate in 80HE
I went from Cherry MX Reds to KOM POMs and found them to be quite nice. Very stable, similar force.
haven't yet tried tikkens, but will in December
I ordered the tikken L45 afterall
that doesn't exist. Only tikken medium. Are you sure you don't accidentally bought the lekker v2 l45 that has yellow stem?
Is anyone here who knows from where to buy switches with less cost of delivery to Europe?
aliexpress
I bought some from deltakey a while ago
they don't have that many but I think shipping was only like 8 euros
Isnt it 20 eur on the wooting site?
I meant that, you are right, but not accidentaly. i preordered the v2
Hey quick question, i can mix switches on my uwu right? Like have 2 60g ones and 1 45g etc
Actually whatever I'll do all 3
OKAY let's see if i broke it by using a screwdriver and not opening it up properly
Worked on my 80he don't see why it wouldn't work on an UWU
All it is is just a lighter press
that's true i was just like
i went with the method where i dont open it up and separate the plate and the pcb and whatnot
i just used a (rusty lol) screwdriver to pop them out
and i was worried i was gonna break them so i thought
i'll leave one intact
just to have a backup if i break one of the other 2 while doing it
dfgjdfhgdg
but then i was like ehhh fuck it and just took them all out and i think it works
they all register a nice slow press from 0mm to 4mm smoothly on wootility i think that means i didnt break anything
time to see if 60g is good for osu
back to 45 .
ok that was mildly scary after putting the 45s back and going into wootility this little bar was jumping from like 3.2 or something straight to 4.0 but it only happened on the first keypress, now it's fine
Replug to recalibrate
yep it happens every time i replug but then it's fine
like
the first press right after plugging it in does that skip thing but then it stops doing it and works perfectly after that, happens on all 3 keys
no idea why and i havent noticed it before although tbh i also never unplug it
maybe it's just a visual thing
or just the calibration taking a bit or requiring a full keypress or something
Part 1 for the future keyboard done āļø
Part 2 module split bar + keycaps again š¤”
Switch recommendations
I did it... So should I biuld in the OW60 or Frog?
o-o that price damn
Yeah ... they were cheaper ones but they didn't ship to my country
i take 70 of the Haimu Dove on ali for 13.57ā¬
Okay good you are aware the Optimum keycap set doesn't have split space support as of now.
That why I Buy two set
new unionwell switch releasing with the titan68he v2: moon rock switch
Where did you bought em?
bro got slaughtered, 70 dcfs cost about 40 eur in china
I really enjoy the akko astrolink switches. I plan on putting them in my 60HE v2 build
holy ..... I just realized the WS Deep Clack are almost 2⬠a switch...
yesh, but you can get it cheaper
for europe? Where? š¤
aliexpress
Hm I guess that makes sense, just a risk you'll get fake ones
dude this ali sale makes DC fluxes really similar in price to tikkens lol
doubt anyone would go through the effort of making fakes of WS switches lol
You'll be alright, just go with any of the link here.
it does make me want to go for fluxes and eventually try tikkens mayb
plans are changing again lmao due to this sale
anyone ordered from GGBOY?
not sure, but I remember some ordering from MMD
ty! š
from ggboy its a TINY bit cheaper
tikkens vs ws fluxes
so similar š
choice is harder for NOW
Iāve bought from MMD Ainy and GGBoy I wouldnāt sweat the vendors
I also paid the OG asking price for the OG flux and theyāre identical build/quality wise
bottom out distance is the main thing now
3,5mm vs 4mm pick your poison xD
yea, tbf I do prefer 4mm but it is a TINY bit longer than owlabs
If i dont like 3.5mm i can refund i think
i never ordered from alo
ali*
that's fair, I feel like the difference will only be maybe felt if you use analog input or multiple actions on a single button
i dont use DKS i think its called
I'm unsure about refund that way, sending back sounds like a pain in the a.... most of the refunds I had only was for stuff that arrived broken, wrong item or not at all
ah
in that case they just refund money and tell you to throw it away most of the time from my experience
oh wait i have jade maxes and lekkers to compare to
with travel distance
3.5mm isnt bad actually
and sticky rice v2
wait 3.5mm is nice
xD then I guess it's decided
finally broke 90wpm, this took waaaayyy too long, hopefully will get even better with new switches
because its not TOO short
i feel like 3.6-3.7mm would be perfect but 3.5 is good too
do you really feel that difference? š¤
between 4mm and 3.5mm?
between 3.5 and 3.6 or 3.7
oh those i havent tested just 3.5 i just think that for me those would be the best
I probably wouldnāt, but ti he definitely felt weirdly short
hm I guess that's fair being 3.4mm vs 4mm
Just get raptors v2
Problem is shipping
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uB9k6KckOh4 the ufos sound nice

He made a video on X how to open them
It sounds exactly like how it's shaped, round
You need a kailh opener specifically
You donāt use the 4 prongs, but you would need to use the two bladed side
Is the factory lube good?
Yeah, should easily last you until you get a kailh opener
Not mandatory to open it up day 1 like POM
Is facory lube only on the sdtem or also on the housing?
95% of it is on the stem
So i can use them for like 6 months and then lube them?
Thatās what I did with the OG flux
I imagine you could probably do the same
Might do that too then
Gonna lube my raws so i can use them until v2 comes
cuz i cant with these fking jades
the wobble is crazy
Amen brotha
Ty bro
That was my reaction using Jade pros and wanted TTC Poms š
Iāve only used closed so canāt say really
Oh
Can't wait to see how low wobble feels
basicly like rock
Huh, wobble? Never heard about that
can confirm
coming from raws
The bottom wobble almost hurts if you go hard enough
Kinda wish we could get an A+ top wobble and S bottom and call it a day
It just affects sound and it's generally accepted as an improvement. Don't think I've heard anyone prefer the sound of open to closed.
I suppose a fringe benefit is that lube can't ooze out the bottom either ā
There's tecsee he
I donāt count silent switches as real
any recommendations on switches that give more of a creamy thock sound?
that are compatible
You wonāt find creamy thock, but hereās all the compatible switches as of rn with their sound tests
thanks!
gonna check them out
My board comes in Friday but already thinking bout modding
The main generic categories are basically silent switches ā> very muted, generic clack switches ā> will sound like a keyboard, bright clack ā> more sharp sounding and deeper switches ā> deeper clack, sometimes marbly
Iād see what switch sounds best to you and Iād get a few new plates to experiment with
Thanks a lot
Are you getting 80HE?
yessir
Youāll have stock PC plate which will dampen a lot of sound and will be fairly soft/flexible (dunno if you prefer this or not). I would say, to pick up either FR4, CF or both depending on what you like or want for your build
FR4 being a versatile plate for 99.5% of situations if you donāt want very soft or super stiff
Will be looking into all that anything you want to recommend me feel free to give input
CF is a lot clackier and stiff, but with the right pairing itās really nice
