for tactical FPS games like Valorant and CS, people prefer slower cloth pads (usually higher friction to have steadier microadjustments)
for more chaotic FPS games like Overwatch, Marvel Rivals, CoD etc, people prefer speed cloth pads or glass pads (lower friction, easier to track with)

That being said, there's exceptions to both, with equal success.

I'd start off w/budget options and as you grow into your own preferences, you can use those judgements to determine your next purchase

One thing I did in the beginning of my peripheral journey was look at pros that i liked watching, found the list of gear they use, and if it was expensive, i'd seek an alternative cheaper version

Ah I mainly went for them because of the weaker initial force, it was also recommended because of switch wobble, whatever that is. I have weaker hands due to an injury and I'm much more comfortable with switches around 40-45g for standard mech switches
