Fixing this sinking issue with PP plate on 80HE
didnât geon start to use RISCV with the RGB version and not the venoms before that?
Softest plate on silicone gasket âď¸đ¤
venoms before that use risc-v
fun fact #1 by DarthJ
venom mcu and sayo mcu are the exact same
then Rakka uses RISCV too probably.
the new rgb is a bit better
but I can't see the reason to use ARM for HE keyboards
since they have their own software, not qmk / via stuff
this shows how geon created a good firmware
while sayo pcb still fcked on updates

yeah, it's cheap (because no need to pay license and such) and it's open source
sayo too busy designing proprietary PCBAs for pulsar smhmh
HAHAHAHA
ngl, from the first time i saw the rgb light
i can say it was made by sayo
HAHAHA
$160
these days pulsar is becoming logitech G
there are many switches now with flush diffusers, if you install those, the LED is dead
đ
yeah crazy, at least sayoâs own PCBAs were cheap
đ
20-35
do u know which discord server rakka uses?
itâs dead
the guy uses discord like once a month himself so it isnât surprising
I wouldnât expected it
but you never know
Taobao isn't that bad tbh
i know, but the shipping to my country is 1 month
and warranty will be tough
0.4 eur each
yeah, I hope thereâll be a more reasonably priced listing on Ali soon
when in doubt TaoBao it out
live laugh love taobao
Blacklisted by RAKKA đ
Yeah waiting for someone to try those switches out soon might order a few
hell nah
i hope because of atlas, rakka will be open to the international community like geon with venom pcb (geon is open with international before venom, but venom was korean exclusive..)
so yeah
let's hope for the best
i'm glad raptors have problems
nothing could truly dethrone the almighty jade pro
especially not without a price
was the 80 edge ever available internationally? no right?
LMFAO, chill bro
nope
take this with a salt mine too
bro getting money from gateron
ATLAS will be the first! đđđ

no one rage baits like me
I see youâve learned from the best (MJ)
ofc
Michael jackson?
he walked so i could run
moonwalked perhaps
he walked backwards so u can walk
You werenât here for his reign of terror
NOOOOOOOOOO
star wars was the best shit ever
star wars walked so dune can run
80 edge is boring.
kinda, yeah
true,
normal 6.25 tkl layout
they used 80 edge for edging us about 60 atlas performance
Ayo guys
Iâm as always proud to be in deep shi*
S o, Iâm wondering what to do: I havenât built anything in a long time and I spotted a tasty Neo65 Core Plus. The case costs about the same as a GMK set, should I jump on this train of the mechanical industry?
Something tells me Iâll never finish the Wooting :)
One of the most convincing arguments is also the 7u spacebar and nice looking sides
alright got the peach silent, freya silent, gateron tactiles and some keysnaps on the way
so should be able to update the silent list soon
If you keep jumping around probably true. It really depends on what you really want, but it will require soul searching on your part for what you actually want.
I wouldnât really build something to build something unless that fits into your keyboard usage plans and unless you want MX for something specific. I think it would be more beneficial to finish your Wooting (eat your vegetables so to speak) or youâll have 2 boards that youâll probably be customizing and further dividing your resources @trail bane
Not to mention you still need to get that backpack
I grab it right before sep 1 so to speak
What backpack?
Me wanna know
Youâll have to scroll up or ask Mr lander but idk what specific backpack his fam wanted him to buy
My other advice is establish your vision before you buy it, or youâll keep the cycle repeating of changing without completion lander
What backpack your fam want you to get
Rnd shi
Or cheaping out, i often have to rebuy stuff just because i get something cheaper.
Cuz it cost me only 30usd ig
Now you wonât be disappeared nice
@trail bane finish your Wooting and then if you want another, you get another that matches the effort you put into your first
ur ice ultra or magnetic jade pro?
I think the ice ultras are probably going to be better for stem wobble and might be a lil deeper, but they also have a box stem variant (Phylina thunderbolt) if you like those too
within 4 hours my life will change forever
so ice ultra is just better all? and what's the difference between the blue and ur variants
It should be more recent than the Jade pros so performance should be similar or better, probably cheaper too
Havenât seen the blue variants so canât say really
alright thanks!
Might just be a recolor
I donât operate with logic in these kinds of situations. I sold my old keyboards, and now I realized that carrying them around feels kind of tiring, and I need something more compact.
Still, I think Iâll order a GMK set now and buy a new board someday. I should discipline myself in this
but the Neo65 Core Plus looks really dope, and I think the smartest thing I could do is to buy everything for that build at once, not piece by piece like before :)
Or just get something noncustomizable
Unless you have your vision planned out I wouldnât, but only you can really answer the question as to if you should/want it that much
Azoth extreme
I had something
or gets into cameras and spend 5x as much on lenses
it's never too late to follow shafie's footsteps
Or IEM/headphones!
Ts + GMK First love clones that I have lying around unused + for example HMX Frog or something more aesthetically matching
â240usd vs $155 one single gmk set
ohelnah
Iâm not that rich
Someday you will
About the same amount of time it took RobTop to release update 2.2 for Geometry Dash multiply by

Will you actually use it
Ofc
At least at school, at work. For now, Iâll only need the Wooting to play a bit, but my playtime has dropped a lot since the school year started, soâŚ
Hmm, so the goal is typing feel
Iâd say thereâs even more of a philosophical decision behind this: whether to spend 150 euros on a single keycap set or just throw in a couple dozen bucks to get a full-fledged keyboard
I mean. There's nothing stopping you from using wooting outside of gaming, but at the same time, mech keyboard might fit your typing preference more.
Indeed. Thatâs why Iâm always in a deep a** with that kinda questions
Do you like typing on wooting and want that gmk sound/look?
I just want to finish the build, and it so happens that GMK is the only one with what I like. Looking back, btw, I used to say Iâd never even consider buying keycaps at that price
If that's the case finish it, since it means a clearer mind when it comes to doing school works
:)
Thatâs why i love yâall
W advices as always
lol yeah same
Iâm happy with my overpriced set of GMK
what set are you lookin at
Tiramisu
that ones nice
still super upset i didnt buy dragon witch when it was still in stock

@glacial wind have you tried hmx he switches?
Yeah Iâve been tempted by Black and Gold and Shaded but I really donât need more than one set of nice keycaps
Raptor HE V2s are by HMX fyi.
Are they?
yep đ
they are?
Geon would never outsource his magnum opus, I donât believe you @tawdry tree
Iâm an anti-geon propagandist, u got me :(
We know.
ah so spring crunch was a psyop

Wait really
I donât believe it until I see it
dude is probably doing a typing test right in this channel
Unrelated how is KBDfans still have no update for salt lake other than early September and itâs almost mid September đ
Hi, I just joined the server so I can get some help regarding a MIDI keyboard project I want to work on.
I want to make a velocity-sensitive MIDI controller for making microtonal music with RGB light-up keys, and I was thinking about using either the Lekker L45 V1 or V2 key switches since they're analog switches that are made for outputting a voltage based on how pressed down the key is. For the PCB, I want to know where to place the holes for the key switch pins and stuff and the LEDs and the hall effect sensors for each key and what LEDs and hall effect sensors to use, but Wooting doesn't seem to say anything about that on their website. I see that they have a bunch of their design files on GitHub but that doesn't seem to include the files for their PCBs. Does anyone have experience making a custom PCB for a keyboard with the Lekker switches or know where the parts and holes go for each switch on the PCB?
the switches are basically just a magnet in a plastic housing, there are lots of other options out there
it may be possible to read the analog values from a wooting keyboard using the wooting analog sdk
cheapest option to test that would be to get a wooting uwu, but probably read through the documentation first
if you want to make a custom pcb, you may be able to find design files for an open source Hall Effect board, no clue if those exist yet. Otherwise you'd have to do some of your own engineering to make it all work.
I feel like for music applications using a keyboard switch might not be comfortable
compared to a midi keyboard that is velocity sensitive, you just bottom out the key with different force
but for a keyboard switch you have to apply a very specific amount of force to keep the switch "mid-air" in order to hit a certain note/velocity which seems too hard to be constantly doing
unless you maybe have super strong springs in the switch
or maybe you have a whole different layout in mind for such a keyboard
yeah I was also thinking maybe it would need more travel
but the basics of it are still just magnet moving closer and further from sensor which seems simple enough to adapt to this use case (tho idk how hard firmware development etc would be)
Well people have made a number of different MIDI keyboard designs with computer key switches like this one:
https://shapingthesilence.com/tech/hexboard-midi-controller/
My keyboard would have a key layout less like a piano and more like a square grid
interesting
oh that is very cool
they seem mechanical here, though
so I assume they just have an on/off state
that is a cool project but it will involve a lot of hardware and software development, so get ready for that
One thing I can imagine you doing is to get 2he and extend where the sensor is. Since it's just going through a wire, I think it's possible for you to just change where the sensor is.
yeah reading analog values and outputting to VST or wherever you play should be more involving than a board with MX switches like that, but it would be something new and interesting
Well I have some experience already with designing MIDI keyboards and doing the firmware for them:
https://tristanbay.com/gear/ts41-midi-keyboard/
that is very cool
But yeah, this is a Hall Effect switch, as you can see it just has 2 pins coming out that serve as mechanical support for stability and no electrical connection to the pcb
in theory you could design a pcb that doesnt even include holes for the pins but i would not recommend that, as stability is key on Hall Effect due to the high degree of precision of the sensors
firmware would need to calibrate, read voltage difference coming from the sensor and turn that into whatever signal you want
Reading the voltage difference is what I'd plan on doing. I'd take the difference between 2 readings to get velocity
That doesn't sound too hard
The hall-effect sensors are on the underside of the PCB, right?
yep
The double-sided PCBA is gonna be more expensive to make
Since the LEDs will have to go on the opposite side
Wootâs boards arenât opensource, they just provide the design files (mostly to make your own case and such). There is an opensource HE board project however, which is probably the best youâre gonna get: https://github.com/peppapighs/HE60
This is helpful! Thank you
A whole lot of redesigning will still be required of course, but itâs something at least. :)
Unless I use a mirror to redirect the light or something
idk if this is a thing but
could you just put holes in the pcb
and let the led shine through from below
Why canât the LEDs go on the same side as well? Like with most keyboards out there.
(the back/bottom)
yeah i just checked and thats how wooting do it as well
just put the led below and let it shine through
it would be better regardless, since a lot of switches nowadays include a diffuser that sits flush with the pcb and that may crush any leds you place there
have you taken a look
look again
Wootâs LEDs are placed at the underside of the PCB
like all the other components
the only difference is that the LEDs are placed over a hole
this is the case for most keyboard PCBAs
tries to spread misinformation
gets called out immediately
leaves
North or South? BOTH
ye, north or south alone doesnât cut it anymore
we need north south east west
It's kinda nice, with the HE switches not having any pin on the bottom like mech do
single best thing about magnetic switches
honestly perfect if you have a switch with transparent top/bottom housing that have some sort of coloring on them
now all your shit looks red no matter what you do on your settings
if you cut the leg or it falls off on its own, you can kinda having LED on all 4 cardinal direction, might need another USB for power
thatâs what the board comes with haha, a switch with two diffusers
Gn yâall
nightmare switch
sweet dream
Mt Tai more like Mt Bai
what in the ratcat is ts đ
the ai got confused while generating it
this might be a crazy take, but I think 4 LEDs per switch would be a bit too much.
I can see the appeal in 2 per switch though, especially when theyâre individually addressable

I only need the lightbar rgb from 80he and I'm set
no we need 5 LEDs per switch to justify the increasing costs of meta switches
its all you need at the end of the day
4 LED on all direction + 1 on the plate
5 rgb diffusers in the switchđ
how can you possibly see the RGB with only 4 LEDs
this is like saying you need 8ba iem cause it's the only way for New Meta to be represented
No no itâs the only way of being able to hear God in the mortal plane
youâre gonna go to ur desk one day and see that monstrosity on the opposite side of your board (not where you fucking left it!!)
naisu
black or beige? đ¤
for the v2 or something?
Beige bro you guys wanna open it with me
gorgeous white PCB, grew to admire them due to HoF (well and some motherboards doing it nice now aswell)
yeah I like white PCBs too. white with gold/brass and black with gold are both nice imo
I donât care much for the color actually, as long as theyâre densely populated lol
love that the most
When EVGA still lived, the dream was to do a full black/gold setup with some of their products, sadly due to constraints it never came to fruition. Now since they are off the table, i turned to white and HoF in a sense.
I still have their board in this white PC though, golden edges
I didn't even notice that they were through a hole on the board when I looked on the website. That's nice
Was mid sentence aswell kek
đ
their shotgun landed nicely though, out of like 30 servers, 5 were hit in my list at once
11 for me
hehh
they were trying to force us to touch grass
theyâre gonna need a little more than a 15min outage to do that đ
Try harder

Now you gotta make a blood mage build in POE 2
@tawdry tree what do you think of this? (stole it from ATK)
@calm pulsar now this is the 5 LED per switch RGB
so usable, very aesthetic
65%
Iâll see how dual LEDs are soon enough
not sure if Iâll be able to live without afterwards tho

I guess i mean't just purely visually
ye ik haha, but I think itâs a bit brighter normally
it seems like the switches used in that board donât let light through very well
oh, that isnât a dual LED board at all?
I'm not sure at all, i just semi liked the visuals
just transparent keycaps
I personally prefer to have function keys so 80% is probably much more me.
But the caps might be interesting
transparent keycaps are interesting but theyâre already a bit too overhyped for my taste
Valid point, i think we discussed much better caps in here already anyway
I really wonder how shine-through top and side legends would look with dual LEDs in different colors
Also i assume (without properly understanding) that the transparency comes at the cost of something
Just use flux and shadows die twice thru glaring lights and inaudible clack
yeah, canât double shot it or dye-sub afaik
so just printed legends
which is kinda ass
so it's garbo ABS yeah?
not necessarily garbo or ABS but yeah
hmm
Mostly just wanna stay away from anything printed/UV printed best to my knowledge for keycaps anyway
I rather live deaf than not at all so I guess iâll take the fluxies
WHAT DID YOU SAY??
unless side print, then itâs fine (as long as you like the aesthetics).
I just made it my goal to stay away from ABS, i have heard that there are somehow better quality variants of it today, but i think i'll just keep that habit.
Havenât seen that in a hot minute
Just needs to be high quality, same with PBT rather than staying away from either type outright unless you want the thock type shiii
I'm not gonna gamble, just staying off them
Most transparent keycaps are PC afaik and I donât think PC shines quickly.
what is PC in this context?
polycarbonate
aha
KBDfans needs to ship my salt lake caps đĽ
Did you show those before?
For salt lake?
yeah
Hereâs what it is essentially, putting a few diff POVs for how they look
sekiro mentioned
Left is the full alt alphas and the first on right is using mostly the white alphas
Didnât know my left or rights for a sec, amerikan edu moment
Cursed twitter thumbs going too fast
I'm a little confused, so which full keyboard on the pictures is the set yours will look like?
Iâll send the base kit one sec
Thatâs default, I got the side alphas too to mix and match
Ahh so those 4 colors
Well you will customize it further is what you mean
i guess alt alphas mean alternative letters?
Depending on the set, alt alphas just means a different alpha keys from whatâs shown in the base kits (i.e. letters are a different color)
My GMK lazurite set was all blue but had an alt alpha set of white keys too
As an example
They really need to ship it then, wanna see what you will make
Iâll make a variation of my current board
Going to do a similar \ color theme but need to see how it looks
Thats funny, i'm almost certain i saw that blue keycap set before, even bookmarked it. But thats years and years ago, maybe it's just very similar to this.
Interesting, GMK lazurite was a 2021 group buy
Maybe youâre an OG
The split looks great, love the spacebar aswell, it couldn't have been either of the two colors!
let me see
The novelties sold me hardcore
Bro this took me forever I put the PCB standoffs opposite idk how it was even possible
Damn no, it wasn't the GMK cyl Lazurite, but a full set of that same color of caps with several golden decorations like that. I have no clue who the manufacturer was or what was it called. I recall very fancy though.
But i have to say CYL Lazurite is getting added to the list, this looks awesome.
You have to be careful for the blues since RGB can bleed a bit and it looks darker in some areas which is cringe, but once you play with it itâs not too bad
Fair enough
Was it this embolia https://oblotzky.industries/products/gmk-cyl-lazurite

Think it should be the same as mine iirc
no
If i find it one day, you will be the first to know
It was the same fancy blue/gold combo with decorations, but the whole set was just that, for mechanical keyboards at the time. Could be years back from 2021 even, unsure.
Itâs a shame the guy behind the set only did 1-2 other ones and then dipped during his last one and is MIA ://
So far looking forward to using my first PBT set in salt lakes and then waiting for the glory that is GMK Selene
Whats up with Selene? OOS or what?
Still early in the group buy process
There was no update since February but early August thereâs an update that itâs not dead in the water so itâs still in the works
Ohh i thought that was a ready to buy product, i see
Nah
IC was last October
Technically still in it but one Iâm very hype for
If you like purple Selene will be a stunner
Thats not half bad, maybe i can buy by the time it would ship, short on fun money for the month atm.
Youâll have time
they don't go giga OOS?
After the group buy it does until r/mechmarket guys get a few in stock which is where I scored lazurite
So we have to lock the eff in, okay
I was the first to discover GMK Selene in here
Fact aligner is in on it means it has to be goated
I'm a huge space/sci-fi nerd, so those novelties appeal aswell. Wish there were more sets themed for that.
Iâm a huge purple guy so the fact we get lore accurate GMK cosmos with readable legends is awesome
:)
And we get lunar purple keycaps with sprinkled teal and other colors is huge
true
I don't mind, something to look forward to
True true
Gives me time to migrate lazurite to benom and rotate salt lakes a bit
Build is going to be WS flux + PP plate and salt lake on GT80
Can't wait for this silly mouse to arrive and then my Amazon DE refund coming in, then a few extra days to ship the router, so then i can have everything consolidated and ship to me. Then we setting up the wooting and new mouse aswell as the router.
New network upgrade
Itâs true
I lost my mind that day
I found that aggregator site and looked through it and found that particular set and my purple radar exploded
Salt lake is available next week fire
purple?
should i tape mod my 80he even tho it has that massive sticker on the back
that works as a tape mod from factory
thats what i was thinking just didnt know if a DIY tape job would be better
Not worth imo, difference is very small
Just use stock PET sticker
if u use 4 layers, it will be more poppy
if you're not doing at least 13 layers what are you doing even
Real

hrm canon launching new mini cinema camera competitor to sony, but no ibis. That's going to turn off a lot of the youtuber/hobby folks
What's ibis?
in body image stabilisation
usually not used by top tier cinema level pro filmers, but heavily used by small to medium sized filmers
Umu
is 5'7 enough to be a medium sized filmer
it's over
I'm going to China then
(they lifted visa restrictions)
though I think I can go to Korea for 90 days without a visa
yeah I think 60hev2 with tikkens is going to be a nobrainer setup, like before you'd have to buy custom stuff but this will have everything
fr4 plate, alu case, closed bottom switch
Bet
And Tikken is close to the raptor v2?
In wobble I guess
Idk about everything else
Also how does fr4 compare to POM plate?
I think tikkens are ti he level of wobble, sound, but with full 4mm travel
denser plate, clackier sound in theory
this is based on nothing btw lol, I just heard somewhere that the manu is the same as Ti HE, but I could be wrong
Yeah but when Sony A7V

I mean a lot of people like them
I just had the raptor v2
So idk how they compared to that
60he v2 comes with a lot of foam mods and such preinstalled too
like the poron foam under alpha keys, pet film etc
so out of the box experience is quite nice
^^
plate will of course be personal preference though. I like even stiffer plates personally, so i'll probably buy an aftermarket cf plate once they're out
sno i finally put it together
yeah I was surprised how many mods they had preinstalled
its so nice
yeah on the v2 i don't even know what there is to mod outside of changing switches/keycaps if you want
all the other stuff is already stock lol
even the tapemod is now proper tapemod material
Yeah fr, I really liked the improved tape mod over the 80HE version

is it a mere 1 layer?
yeah but as sno said it's proper tape mod material now
Not even 7 layer
yeah im just joking
haha figured there was a bit of sarcasm in there but didn't know if you were genuinely asking or not
yeah I think stock 60hev2 is looking like a complete experience, no need to mod anything even
fr4 plate, alu case, screw in stabs
closed bottom switch
i think the only thing i'd do to stock 60he v2 is relube the stabs, but that goes for every stock built keyboard really
might even get away with lubing the stem/housing from outside with the brush and putting some grease with a syringe to the wire
unless the wire is not balanced
then might need to disassemble
i have 3 layers

I guess now i wait for them to be in stock
I didnt want to spend any money on keyboards the foreseeable future but i gotta jump on that
Surely no issues...
if it doesnt then holllyyyyy

godly
I tried looking them up on aliexpress just in case but found only black knights called crystal magnetic switch lmao
that's interesting
not in stock though so i wonder when they actually stock it there and on other vendors
Sno can you test em so i dont have to
yeah i'll buy them when available

True
Raptor v2 werent even good enough for me to have to change my underwear after trying them in my board
it would also help if korean customs didn't literally have a package of my underwear that they're taking 2 weeks to clear for some reason
Bio hazard
they could at least let me wear them first
i've received like 20 packages of switches since then but somehow my meundies underwear needs 2 weeks of inspection
my friend has his cabel management channels from temu held at customs for 2 months (and counting)
Customs want to save him from temu
i'm convinced they put the wrong import number or something on my package, but when i emailed the company to see if they needed more import information from me the only reply i got was "yes your package is in customs clearance" then closed my ticket immediately
Someone is already wearing them, forget.
maybe they were also enticed by the great meundies 50% sale recently
I just buy that stuff from uniqlo
But every time i buy some i forget how expensive it gets đ
they do have good tshirts
airism oversized is the best oversized blank and supima t shirt is the best normal fit blank
Unfortunately i dont wear blanks
i have 15
Iâm not stylish, i wear band merch
only thing i wear
supima kinda mid lowkey
Not even like, just metal or anything but its all over so getting one consistent look is basically impossible
i agree on the airism tho
i tried the hm ones but they sucked and got ruined way faster than uniqlo tees
Those cheap fast fashion brands always suck
But tbf that kinda applies to everything now
haven't tried hm ones but supima felt similar to other cheapish ones pretty fast
Too much price pressure downwards
although the fabric is still nicer
yeah supima you're paying for just softer cotton, but it's still cotton
can wear them below stuff for many years
the only thing with supima i don't like is their white tee is a little thinner than i'd like
they did have some quality decrease over the years
i think their supima has always been like that though, just a thinner gsm
it's great in non white though, just the white can be a little see through
Thats why, if you find one piece of clothing you love, you should always buy like 10 of it
but trend is all oversized now so everyone just buys the airism oversized ones
wear 2 đ§
wish i did that with socks
now they dont make the ones i liked anymore
and i got way too many slightly different versions
not a streamlined sorting process
wish i found some good socks
I should do that on my next uniqlo shopping
Me needs more long pants and tshirt with plain look
Not a fan of the airism stuff personally
the oversized airism is different though to the rest of airism, it's a thicker material so not like the undershirt stuff they use for rest of line
they have a pretty nice semi tapered stretchy dri fit pants these days. It's like a slightly not as nice version of lululemons pants, but for 1/10th the cost
I think I have a couple airism oversized tees but they tend to make me sweat more instead of less I'd rather a plain cotton shirt
honestly though people hate spending but the lululemon pants be worth the price if you wear pants every day. absurdly expensive but they do last forever and are super comfy for pants
i think they're running into problem in US now where they saturated the market and their pants last so long that most people never go back and buy more pants
my problem with lululemon is that name
cant take it seriously
its too bouba, i want a little more kiki
i'm still curious on those pbtfans blanks that have fiberglass in them
they claim it adds a pop to the sound but i don't know anyone with them
lcp keycaps when
after more research i came to the conclusion that we need keycaps made from PEEK
estimated price is atleast $50 per keycap
who wants to invest
why not cast iron keycaps
or tungsten
too heavy for switches
CARBIDE
a single layer of graphene
what a smart idea
just sprinkle some graphit pukver on your keyboard
imagine magnesium keycaps
finally a real punishment for people spilling water on their keeb
it just explodes
is pcbsnap/keysnap working with 60he ?
Forged carbon caps
that was Lithium or potassium
Todaaay might be the day i get my 80he! đ
So I can finally stop playing with my switches which i already received before I manage to break them with my brutish hands
which one
beluga and lyla their white and black blanks
i'm also curious to see how they perform if the user turns on rgb because they're only 1.3mm thick
both PCBs have the same thickness and size is almost the same too. Just depends on which case you want to use them with afaik.
Iâll test it this week. I have keysnaps on the way from geon
ah shit i wanted to order keysnaps from deltakey and forgot
i think they are out of stock now
jesus christ
that's extremely cheap
this is non vat and non shipping
also missing refinement of the file for CNC
and refinement of the case design for CNC/metal
oh they don't show you the entire charge? that's cool...
yeah its an estimate
theyll have engineers check if its doable
prob theyd flag some stuff in our files as they arent optimized or even made for CNC but injection molding
thought it was binding quote
lol no
but they'll tack on at least another 100% for converting it to machinable if that's the case
so i had some sheet metal stuff done with laser cutting and the quote was about 70% of the actual price and then came tax and shipping on top
at the end i paid like 600eur
yeah I would have seen this if discord on mobile worked
its literal just the bottom part of a two he because there is no such thing as aftermarket two he cases
this how it looks like when you zoom in on mobile
ah ok yeah
yes
yes
and itll prob rise in price if youd submit it
also really stupid question, should i have thread holes tapped in or just use the existing screws
you need threaded holes in aluminimum
but i don't have a 2d blueprint of a wooting 2 he for that
id personally prob pay a CNC engineer to optimize and check the file before ordering the part
if you send a file itll get made for whatever that file is... if its wrong you sit on the cost
(i found out the 600eur hard way)
i just took the provided stp file from the github and removed everything but the bottom case
yes but the file isnt made for cnc
oof
its just a 3d file
yeah it'll be extremely unnecessarily hard to machine
for example all the ribbing at the bottom prob needs to go
yep
okay time to look at fiverr
youd prob also not want the flipout feet function
and have some sort of other feet solution
id estimate in total for optimizing even the 3d file we give for the default case and then getting it made and shipped you prob look at 300-400 eur
in other words what tony is saying is throw the file away and design a new case
it's just easier and makes for a better product
then you can get it machined for 200-300
all attempts we have seen from people so far have been completely new designs and they also ended up at the 300-400eur mark of cost
so price wise no difference to fixing the current case for CNCing
wait thers people who already made a custom case for a two he
theres a german company who tried
but we didnt hear from them for a year now or a year and a half after they tried to gain insight into how many would sell
so i assume there was no interest or not enough at least
which makes sense
or theyd be ready to pay the price but only if it fits other fullsize boards as well (which is a pipe dream in fullsize land)
haha yeah also no
its already a pipe dream to have a hall effect number pad
is it?
afaik the two he is like the only decent full size hall effect keyboard
that has rgb support
I'm taking this message as evidence that wooting is working on one
ok but we never really said we wont ever do a numpad or any of the more niche formfactors really
wait separate num pad?
while we arent working on them we basically shelved them for later
lies and untruths
like with the wooting klein thats now the uwu
full wooting numpad confirmed!
it was shelved for years until its time came
(although i still prefer the original design personally)
does have a rather large feedback post for it
yeah you can go there and voice your wish for one
Full size best size
yeah I personally don't think it'll sell after the 17 people who want one, buy one
but I'm ready to be proven wrong I guess
80 he + wooting numpad = newer 2 he/more complex version of a 2 he
no it sucks actually because numpad is directly in mouse area
true if they bring that out then they never need to refresh the Two HE
me with infinite desk space:
Skill issue
and you never need numpad for anything anyway
it's not about desk space for me, it's about comfort
having my arms 10 million miles apart is awful
ngl i personally want to see a two he with gasket mounting like the 80 he
true but holy shit is it a pain in the ass to go with a tkl + num pad and the rgb doesn't really match
so the uwu has been shelved for a good 4yrs or so
i cant find a picture of the prototypes
sadge
I'm just really curious what people even use a numpad for
Competitive excel
excel spreadsheets, gta v airplane controls
i remember watching that
the commentators was so hyped
here they are
so the airplane controls can be rebound, spreadsheets a normal person uses once a year
Woot Klein đ¤Š
yeah I really liked that design
welp time to find a cnc person that can make a keyboard case
if you do it locally you'll be paying on the order of 500+ most likely
@calm heath try reaching out to them maybe you got some luck
(afaik we never got the prototype they mentioned in the message)
Would it be possible to repurposes the two he pcb and convert it from plate mounted to gasket mounted?
Or would that need a new pcb
yes? youd basically just have to redesign everything
yeah you take the pcb and design every other part anew
you could use the holes for the bottom case stems that connect the topplate to screw on a plate to the pcb like we do for the 60he and 80he
just means you now need a custom case, custom plate and custom silicone sheet
At this point I should just ask for rights to use wootility since this went from aluminum bottom case to full blown new keyboard
i mean the case design is usually not the hardest part of making a keyboard
its expensive cause you want metal
thats basically all it boils down to
well no, you'll still use the same PCB so that's the only thing that matters for that
If i keep it tray mounted sure
i mean personally i think youre the one that keeps escalating this. im unsure how at this point we can be dragged into the discussion
if you want to make your own pcb, own firmware, source parts, solder it, make your own case design and all that: go ahead by all means
no regardless of anything
you cannot not have the same PCB if you want it to be Wootility-compatible
if you want to use another HE PCB, then it's not a wooting keyboard mod but another keyboard
Oh well square 1 time
Bottom aluminum case
(Until theres a wooting number pad)
even that's a lot more work than you're probably anticipating but show the results here if you do end up making one
Last stupid question:
Wouldn't it be possible to use the stp file for additive manufacturing (aka using powder to make part) instead of cnc
in theory yes
in practice it probably faces some of the same issues CNCing the STP file has although i wouldnt know which or if thats really the case
i would just recommend designing a new bottom case (you can use the original as a base ofc to get the measurements right and the screw locations etc)
Ngl this is the move ill copy the tofu /j
Tf?
id highly recommend to prototype by 3d printing yourself on a filament printer first
Hrm was your gateron tactile that didnât bottom out tested in an 80he for you @north girder
ofc
but they werent gateron tactiles
they were some spark like linears with different materials
tactile on the right
tge switch i had problems with on the right
Ah okay interesting
Because Iâm running some tests on switch stability right now and I can get the weird bottom out issues on my 60he v2 but not on my 80he or 60he
So going to ask Simon and see whatâs up
do u use sparks or the emeralds?
Sparks
also do u use the same switch or do u have each of them kitted with different switches
thats odd
I think maybe the v2 software Iâm using just isnât finished maybe but going to check and see whatâs going on
i had some of my raptor v2s not instantly autocalibrate but they calibrated within 5 full presses aswell
It is an alpha version after all
yeah calibrating within a few presses is how itâs supposed to work right now
And thatâs what happens with the sparks too in my 80he and 60he
Just not the v2
ideally u dont need any presses
and it would save previous calibration on onboard storage and check after power on with the first full press if the switch needs to be recalibrated
Iâll check internally to see whatâs up, but will be nice if this means itâs only a v2 unfinished software thing and the switches work fine on finished software
Well the way right now is most accurate and it should be checking
The problem is more of it does it where it doesnât calibrate within that 5-10 seconds or whatever it is
Then you have an issue with compatibility/software
hrm simon or someone may have already fixed the spark compatibility thing @north girder - now my v2 is able to work with sparks fine too (although it does take slightly longer to figure it out)
i'm going to swap my v2 back to sparks full build for abit and see if it's fixed
is there a firmware update for my 80he?
or some beta i can participate in?
well i wont use my geon jade sparks until my cf plate arrives anyways
They donât have an encapsulated magnet either
they dont have a loose jiggely magnet either
compatibility should be the same as Jades (if they used the same magnet properties).
yeah
no split stem for Emeralds
it's working fine on the current public release, at least on my 80he it did
i'm testing it now on my v2 to see, but the sparks compensated fine on my 80he and 60he
hey guys, i just got my wooting 80he n wootility on chrome cant detect is as a hid device
but my pc settings says its there
okay yep still same issues. It's just that some keys take a lot of data and time to trigger the calibration because they're so far below normal magnetic range @north girder
Did you by any chance buy the âWootingâ as a kit with the Holy80 from KBDfans?
so will have to wait for switch tester to really make them work well

rip
so to clarify, you did not buy a wooting
oh right that makes sense
the holy80 is meant as a case for the wooting but kbdfans also made their own inhouse pcb for it
i would use this software
he told me to use via
Itâs just that something tells me that if he didnât change the keyboard name in the settings and itâs originally displayed as Holy80, then itâs definitely not a Wooting
mb twin
what would you recommend to control rgb
Makes sense
oh my days
he bent the pins on like 10 of my switches
my damn five aint working
https://www.zfrontier.com/app/flow/j88ZGoOMQ6P6 if only they had a black option, would go hard with black and gold. that R6 set would look great on the off-white one.
hot damn
is it hhkb only
ohh my god
donât think so
if its gh60 compatible i'd be super interested
they list surprisingly little lol
yeah cant even spot the usb port
itâs gasket so a custom plate could potentially work
yeah exactly, hidden in every picture
yeah exactly that
Get the new hmx switches with fiberglass bottom
i just ordered the holy80 too
Time to crunch max
@sweet oak we got more switches to crunch
Raptors were tasty, now we need reinforced teeth for the new crystals
Fiberglass bottoms arenât going to crunch itself
wich one is it
guys fiberglass isnt safe to consoom
HMX Crystal HE Magnetic Gaming Switch The HMX Crystal He switch is HMX's answer to the HE Magnetic switch trend. It features a super-fast RT of 0.01, which is on par with some of the best-performing HE switches in the market. They are compatible with all major HE Magnetic keyboards in the market. All you need to do is
i just rememberd i still have the coupon from keeping my white zinc case
so ill get 90 tikkens for pocket change
doubt they'll be super expensive in the first place ngl
most of us will be buying the switches alone
nope 30-50 bucks
light
Which switch is safe to consoom comrade
the uhâŚ. candy ones
Checkmate damn
gateron sparkling waters
Hopefully they chose the nice flavor for sparkling waters
Knowing Gateron they probably chose lemon or some shii
sparkling water has water taste lol
ITS WATER NOT A SODA U GODDAMN AMERICAN
We have ice calm down Mr. room temp
Clippy Incarnate is on several layers of irony, we can't comprehend
in germany we have fridges
fuck controller players btw
You mean putting food into hole
huh why would u even think thats common in Europe
I'am Polish, isint like Germany poor
jakub pls dont start talking about your bucket
we are so poor ya poles come over to us in ya shabby white vans for a stealing trip
Hello someone can tell me if its mandatory to add this to the order pls ? i only want change my case and keycaps btw if someone have a good balck and orange keycaps ansi cherry with arabic legends that will be great ty all
Image
not needed but its nice for more weight and different sound
but if you dont care then you dont need it
what's ur case
this looks like tofu
oh i see the weight filler foam
Not mandatory. But FWIW I thought the redux without the weight originally. Then bought the weight months later and would recommend the weight
Case is solid without it tho. But improves feel and acoustics.
pick one or the other
the bar is there to reduce some resonance (vibrations) but if u dont wanna spend the extra the foam is the cheaper alternative
it's interesting just how much that silencing mechanism affects the accuracy of switches
been testing switch magnet compatibility all day, man those silencing dampeners make all the switches have so much variance
i knew it affected it a lot, but seeing it visually in the switch tester tools with how just pressing slightly off axis or slightly less pressure at bottom/top changes the variance of silenced switches so much
W for closed door gamers
@ionic breach @polar girder but there is the same things in my wooting right ?
$20 HE PCBA (same software as the Neo65 Sonic HE+ [same OEM most likely]): https://a.aliexpress.com/_Eveontg
no
foam kinda
unsurprising, but âself-developedâ is a lie/bogus claim.
went ahead and removed all the extras from the link before bookmarking, but interesting find regardless
why cant they just make wooting compatible cases and resell modules in a bundle with the case
đ
not nearly as profitable
it fills this hole in the middle
Might be worth a blind order next month, small science project, might end up being an extra 60% keyboard hehh

buy venom
The brass no. The foam of the redux fits better in the redux than the Wooting foam fits in the redux. But it is doable.
venom time
tho im going to go insane waiting for neo ergo cu
What is venom exactly? i have seen the name thrown around now a few times
pcb
context: wooting is spiderman here
an alien creature that eats a lot of humans
but he can be a nice guy at times
joke
Product Features - Web-based firmware (https://venom.how/)- RISC-V32 architecture applied- Supports 8KHz polling rate / 14KHz scan rate per key- 0.16ms latency- Custom PCB standard specifications- Daughterboard and JST connector included Product Malfunction Check Points - Use USB 2.0 high-speed or higher A TO C cable-
Geon Venom 60HE
ohh Geon's take on a 60HE PCB, much appreciated
I bought a case on AliExpress if its bad i will go for redux
what case did you buy
I'm also interested to see
now it's outdated

I'm not concerned with that, i just wanted to know what people were talking about
anyone know where i can find keycaps similar to these
u will hear a lot of atlas now
u like a different colour?

similar as in?
I want an aluminum case bcs my wooting60he since the first day do not stabilise and when i hit a key he is twerking
@tawdry tree is it just me, or this thing is also sick?
meh, Iâm not a fan of sublegends haha
like the legends?>
any modding yall reccomend for stock 80he?
đ¤
the japanese letters and similar color if possible @ionic breach
I can agree there, but the color and general style? i'm really impressed by those
none of these japanese sublegend fans know a word of japanese
depends what you want to achieve
I want buy an arabic legends ainsi cherry keycaps in black or orange but its impossible to find im sad
freewheeler?
Btw was there any update on the knobs dials for wooting? i admit i didn't pay much attention since first learning about them about a month ago.
if you want more stable switches, swap those, if you want diff sound swap switches, plate, maybe different foams and if you dont like the look you can change the case @final moth
btw kkb cooked with this
ATLAS international or 60HE v2? which is gonna come first?
bets are open
early next year
i think both at the same time
okay ty đ
thats all nthing else
that would be insane
I could care less abt sound and stuff unless its ridiculously loud which i dont think from reviews ive seen, mostly concerned with performance aspects and was wondering how big the difference is between lekker 45/60 for gaming responsiveness/feel
Thats look like asur and asmar
either both the same time, or rakka bit late
but venom rgb will be the first
basically no difference between those, just how hard you need to press
next month (if no issues / late)
if you want to change something, i would start off with switches and experimenting with different foams and maybe poly fill
GMK Nord is similar but I like it a bit better I think. Itâs got a bit more character to it
should i get the wrist rest if i got small hands? i feel like it would be helpful but didnt include in my first order w the 80he
there are certain switches that are commonly recommended
I'll look at that then, thanks :)
freewheeler said more info later this month iirc
25th or so
ohhh
but international
finally
i will purchase that girl
do lekker tikken switches wobble? is that what it means by stability/precision for helios n raptor?
the tikken wobble is similar with owlab ti
lekker tikken wobble is good but they are not out yet
if tb release is much earlier, Iâll get it from tb.
let me know
i want an honest review
