Can I get a recommendation on aftermarket PBT keycaps with shine through as a priority?
By that, I mean the white translucent layer being more translucent than white.
Long story short, I've realised that Wooting's default caps are quite a bit less transparent than I'm used to, and that possibly contributes to the large amount of light leakage, along with the switch body itself being more frosted, so more diffusive.

This is the layer I'm talking about. It doesn't show up too well on camera, but the left (wooting) is noticeably more opqaue than my old cap (right), and I think that's causing light to reflect out the bottom and light up the outside of the neighbouring cap and the "background"

Yes, it is PBT. I tried adjusting the LEDS and the Wooting is definitely brighter. But the issue (not really an issue) persists on lower brightness.
I found a level where I can swap keycaps between them (Wooting on Corsair, Corsair on Wooting, adjusting brightnes so they look the same through the letter, and when I swap them back, the final brightness on the Wooting (with its own keycap) is lower than the Corsair brightness. So I'm 100% sure that the keycap itself is less transparent.

I used the Windows key because the thickness of the symbol is about the same. This isn't due to using a letter that is bolded on the corsair but not the Wooting

These will probably be better (significantly more stable in terms of wobble), but they use silicone dampeners instead of leafs.

Anyway, using the same brand of keycap on both, I still notice a lot more light leakage on the Wooting (something that's bothered me since I got it, but I. I've identitfied a few contributing factors

1. keycap translucent layer is less translucent and more reflective
2. Lekker switch body is more frosted and more diffusive
3. LED is brighter (sadly reducing brightness doesn't really affect the spill much, but the non-bold, non-gamer letter don't look great). It's about the ratio of spill to symbol illumination

I'm guessing 2 is what's causing most of the spill, but that's a lot harder to change. I'd need to paint it or something.

My friend's custom keyboard has switches that, when pressed fully, sit flush to the surface of the keyboard. Besides fully disassembling and somehow getting the switches to mount deeper in that top plate, is there any thing I can do about this? Off the top of my head, I'm thinking of filing down the stem, thus making the keycap sit lower on the key switch without affecting travel distance

The thing about this country is that things are available, but not affordable. Our choice is to pay through the nose for the good stuff imported after going through EU and NA quality assurance, or gamble on getting something cheaper than normal (cheaper than what a European or American would pay) from China. I don't believe there are any HE switches as ready stock, sadly. It's a niche within a niche. When your total population is 6 million, even in a city, you're already lucky that a niche is catered for at all. I'm not saying they're definitely not here, but they're definitely hard to find. I know someone that is from SG aswell, he is quite the PC enthusiast and OC-er, also has money.
The reason i mentioned TB is because he uses it for some speciality stuff ofcourse, but having usually identified the proper sellers/sales allowed him to never really tell us a story where he got knockoffs or anything like that.

They’re basically POMs that don’t sound like ass, with good lube job all while having an mx stem (with better all around tolerances). So it’ll probably depend on how much you like long spring/how much you care about bottom wobble

From Sno’s tests they’ve looked stellar

Does anyone know of a company that makes PP plates for the 80he? Hunting for that sweet thocky sound and I'm making a list of things to get by the time the Tikkens come out so I can have it all ready to go to "re-vamp" my build

PP plate on 80HE with the silicone mount is going to make it very flexy and soft which is prob what you’re going for, but if you’re just using the default PC plate it’s a more fun time

i don't mind the stock PC plate, it sounds very good out the box with the l60s but I kinda want to experiment with custom-ish build

poppy is nice ya just not really what im going for, main reason why i'm waiting for the tikkens and hoping that they add to the deep end of the sound signature

You’ll get more sound out of other plates (PP included) since PC mutes a lot of sound

Same with the default silicone

It ends up drowning out a lot of the keyboard sound

I forget where it was posted but I remembered seeing a graph that placed different plate materials on soft-hard and thocky-clacky axises and that was my main rationale for choosing PP over staying PC

I was contemplating polyfill but I figured that would've been an additive with the silicone, not a replacement

You wouldn't be able to replace the silicone pad with polyfill

It's required for the gasket mounts

The 80HE gasket mount and the plate material is thick silicone, so in tandem with PC plate it’s very heavy duty

like you were saying the silicone is required for the gasket mount so I wouldn't know how that works out

but i assume if it does replace it, the foam would allow for more openness in the board rather than the silicone basically eating the sound up
