I have a question, I got a 80HE, and the sticky dampeners under the spacebar stabs got to sticky, so had to remove them (known issue).
But even tho i replaced em with some other dampening material for stabs i had, my spacebar sounds poopoo, both when it hits the "floor" but also when it hits the "roof" so pressed fully and when released.
It does not rattle or anything, it just sounds verry "hard" when it gets pressed and released.
Any tips on how to fix this, and make it sound softer?

Stab pads are use as a dampener pad for the bottom out of a modifier. As you know it does soften the contact between stab and PCB. Before we actually got stab pads as it's own product, we used bandaids. When people did decide to use stab pads they would tend to add grease or lube to dampen the pad even more but the problem with that would be the bottom out sticking issue which had occurred to you.

well then honestly your best bet in having a good sounding spacebar or to like fix that harshness even with HE is just go down to the basic, Going minimal as possible, proper lubed stabs, no pads no nothing, try different switch varieties (yes certain switches provide that harshness sound), and keycap material.

I tried out this like stem wire damper thingy on one keyboard i had, it worked GREAT for sound, but it made the spacebar a little bit sluggish as a result

im more of a clack person (despite my name being thock kek) so i tend to like spacebars that have a stronger sounding bottom out that can also cover the top out even with it's harshness

but switches lately are becoming tighter and tighter which allows the top out to be less harsh

yeah, when the lekker v1 were the only HE switches out, the mod was prioritize to dampen the top out sound of the switch then we soon later found out it reduced the stem wobble as well.

Metal cases are nice for a premium everyday feel and generally heavier and sturdier from their plastic counterparts. They will have a little more case resonance (but easily counteracted with foam or polyfill). If you want a quieter/more thocky typing experience I’d probably go plastic.
